It all depends on what the actual cause of death was. If a resident actually beat someone to death, the police of course would be notified. But this actual death was brought on by a fall caused by another dementia patient. Falls accelerate expiration be they caused by another dementia resident or a mistimed step. To be clear, when something like this happens we contact the Ombudsman and provide a detailed report. The Ombudsman then conducts an investigation and determines if a criminal investigation is warrented. As far as Verne and money goes, who knows? But Elder Care is INCREDIBLY expensive. I've had patients who were extremely wealthy, many of whom had roommates. Sometimes there's some family goings on to hold onto as much of a person's estate as possible, as ElderCare can dry up a personal fortune.

I've worked with a couple of Ex Boxers as well. One I'll call "Paul". Never really had a problem with him and his dementia was advanced, he did once try to hit another male resident who was attacking a nurse's aide and I stopped him cause he was still fucking jacked in his early Eighties. From what I read here, Verne threw the guy down. That doesn't exactly mean that he thought he was wrestling. I currently work with a dementia resident who was a fighter at one point who had a fight with Floyd Patterson, he's totally docile and never violent with staff or other residents. Alzheimer's and related dementia is totally unpredictable and is unique as each person it strikes is unique. More often then not, it's a stronger resident getting upset at another resident for whatever reason, imagined or real, and they grab the other resident and push them. When a 97 year old resident takes a fall with injury, it's common that a rapid decline to expiration happens. If it's a guy who probably tried to stay in decent physical shape his whole life, like Verne, or an ex Boxer, etc..we as staff need to be alert, but we can't be everywhere at all times, and the days of doping them all up or restraining them are long gone, thank God.

I've worked in ElderCare for nearly twenty years, with Alzheimer's/ Dementia care being my main focus. When one confused resident knocks down another confused resident we never call the police. It's considered something that happens in these facilities. We try to take every precaution for these things to NOT happen, and when they do, the amount of paperwork we fill out and file with State officials and organizations is huge. What strikes me as odd, is that Verne had been discharged from this facility for a previous incident, and was then allowed back in. The fact is, Police are almost never called when one demented resident gets into a scuffle with another. In this case, the man's fall seems to have led to his passing and that's a tragedy. It's not an obstruction of Justice, the fact is the police know that these things happen. No police officer is going to haul away a demented 83 year old Alzheimer's victim after he/ she gets into a fight with another resident. About 15 years ago, we had a woman, out of nowhere, grab a wheelchair footstand and bash another woman in the face with it. It was completely random, there was no sign it was building, she just "went". Gladly, the Victim didn't die, and only had a broken cheek and bruised up face. We had to contact the families, and as a team we decided that the woman who assaulted the other, needed to be in a senior Psych facility. From http://www.f4wonline.com/

I picked this up on Monday at FYE, as they already had it on sale. It's really a TON of fun. I'm done with the first 2 discs and have enjoyed it immensely. And yeah, Savage is all over this set.

Back in 1985 when the whole "Pro Wrestling USA" experiment launched, they held a card at the Meadowlands that the Apter mags just went apeshit over. At the time, on paper it did seem like the greatest thing ever to those of us in New Jersey without cable and just the Apter mags to know about anything besides the WWF. Does this show exist on tape at all? I remember that there were some no shows, and the mags tried to explain them away kayfabe. The only one I remember was Lawler was supposed to team with Tommy Rich against the Road Warriors, not the Baron. NWA/AWA Star Wars 2/85 February 24, 1985 in East Rutherford, NJ The Meadowlands drawing 18,600 ($180,000) Jimmy Valiant, Jay & Mark Youngblood drew Larry Zbysko, Nick Bockwinkel, & Dory Funk Jr. (15:00) Kamala defeated Mark Pole & Lou Fabiano in a "handicap" match. Bob Backlund pinned Billy Robinson. Jim Brunzell & Greg Gagne DDQ Mr. Saito & Masked Superstar. Ivan & Nikita Koloff beat Steve Keirn & Jimmy Valiant when Ivan pinned Valiant. Jimmy Garvin beat AWA World Champion Rick Martel via DQ. AWA World Tag Champs The Road Warriors beat Jerry Lawler & Baron Von Raschke when Raschke was pinned. NWA World Champ Ric Flair pinned Harley Race (25:00). Sgt. Slaughter won a "tag team battle royal." Slaughter's partner, Jerry Blackwell, was injured and could not compete, forcing Slaughter to wrestle alone. Also in the match were: The Road Warriors, Ivan & Nikita Koloff, Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell, Kamala & Billy Robinson, Mark & Chris Youngblood, Jerry Lawler & Baron Von Raschke, Bob Backlund & Jimmy Valiant, Mr. Saito & Masked Superstar, Nick Bockwinkel & Dory Funk Jr., Jimmy Garvin & Larry Zbyszko, and Steve Keirn & Jerry Oski.

Can someone post that pic of the Genius looking at Perfect's Package with glee? I can't find it and I want to show it to someone who doesn't remember that it happened. Thanks

I'd imagine that all the jokes are told BECAUSE he was not guilty of that charge added to the fact he likes to bang young hot chicks. If the worst thing you can say about an old guy is that he bangs girls in their early twenties... And the weird "I'm a fan of Calgary and hate Memphis" thing that's going on here is really far more creepy than Lawler banging chicks half his age.

The "backlash" of less than 30 seconds of this at Alverez's board is both hilarious and frightening. Holy shit, there's some really fucking stupid motherfuckers with computers and money out there. Many seem to be from England. I always thought "shite" was just a pronunciation of "shit" with an accent. For some reason, seeing message board posts saying "That's shite" just screams "Trying to hard to prove you're not American.", and "Aren't I just the Johnny Rotten of wrestling message boards." But what do I know, Garth Ennis uses "shite" in "Preacher" and that's the best comic book ever made.

How much is the shoot? The packaging does look great. -
Ha, that's awesome. Who'd be in the Alliance ? I was just feeling nostalgic for that stuff and was about to throw in a Clash DVD from that time.

Yeah,

"Stampede is blaming their low numbers recently on too much blood, NHL finals on TV, the weather, and Owen Hart and Jason being gone." That struck me funny. "Also to blame were Cheers, the Loch Ness Monster, 2% milk, Garbage Pail Kids, and the Jews."

Hell yeah, Moondogs greatness ahead. edit: Yeah, disc 4 so far is the fucking bomb. Between the awesome Fabs/ Moondogs fued and the absolutely incredible Lawler/ Dundee Loser Leaves Town match this is just the best shit ever.

Oh, bullshit. "Ready To Rumble" is fantastic "It's 3:30 am and I'm stoned" viewing.

Question for medical types: Killer Kowalski & brain death
Johnny Sorrow replied to Bix's topic in Pro Wrestling
Thanks...but now I'm really confused. How are they usually diagnosed? The JAMA article emphasizing that "brain death is real death" really throws me for a loop if this can happen. Is it possible that since there will be no organ donation with the elderly patients, that the term "brain dead" is used without testing to make the family more comfortable or something? I honestly don't understand how someone could legitimately be brain dead and then live off life support, especially since not surviving off life support is criteria for brain death in the first place. They seem mutually exclusive if "brain death is real death." It's pretty much that there's no active brain activity to speak of but the other organs are just going on for awhile until the inevitable death. Usually, the patients I'm working with have had suffered from some form of Alzheimer's or related dementia that has ravaged the brain. We never get into the why's and why nots, we just make the patient and family comfortable. But the idea that someone with a healthy history or strong constitution keeping on breathing as there's no discernable brain activity is something that happens. It also happens with chubby little old ladies sometimes. I'm not in the DX end of things, I'm in the "comfort" part. There's a lot of mysteries in the things that can happen at end of life times for seniors. -
Question for medical types: Killer Kowalski & brain death
Johnny Sorrow replied to Bix's topic in Pro Wrestling
I've worked in geriatric care for over 18 years, and I can recall many times when a patient was declared brain dead and breathing tubes were removed and they hung on for awhile longer, sometimes a week or so.
