  2. Which is insane and shows a real problem with the voters. That I agree with in theory. What are the examples of that? Ric Flair seemed to create a template for how heel world champs with blond hair are supposed to work. Pre-Stone Cold Austin, Michaels, HHH and probably others all emulated him. For that reason, I'd think he was strong enough to go in on work alone even if he never drew a dime. Guys like Rey and Tiger Mask became superstars in spite of their size and by working a more daredevil style inside a business that feared smaller guys getting over. I wouldn't say they changed the style where everyone was working like them, but they both showed that guys their size could get over and how to go about doing it. I don't mean to compare the two as workers because much of Sayama's work doesn't look great on videotape and Rey's work had more staying power. But Rey's more enduring work wouldn't be his HOF case -- his HOF case would be that he used his in-ring ability to do something guys his size pretty much never did in wrestling. That is why I said in theory, because those guys get in for work and influence, and drawing too.
  3. If whoever picks up Vince allows him to do one taped promo for me, then I have an explanation planned.

  5. Angle debatable is too nice. He does not belong in under any terms.
  6. Ring announcers like Finkel should just be whatever. To be honest I have no idea who the ring announcer is that I have been using. Not a huge part of the show, so just pretend Finkel goes wherever. Gorilla/Vince different story. Curious to see what happens with them, who drafts them or puts them a priority over talent or whatever.
  7. He was in Montreal in the 70's for about 2 years.
  8. I would be ok with it. I know some others have pointed out he should be a freelancer too. I don't really care either way.
  9. Has there been an Andre the Giant discussion? I've heard some say he should become a freelancer, some say a promotion should pick him up, but use him to make trades to tour the country. Where do we stand on the Giant?
  10. All my 27 dates can be changed to the 26th please.
  11. All cool. Jack Tunney has similar issues.
  12. By the way, all future shows (Preimum Action from the 29th, TV Taping on the 30th, etc...) are delayed until post draft. Just in case we get a new announcer.
  13. By the way, I am super happy I made a deal 3 months ago to bring in Pedro Morales for October/November. Makes it a really easy transition to entering WWF arenas with a new show. Just throw Pedro-Koloff as the main event and there is two former WWF World Champs.
  14. Everything is now sorted. Maple Leaf Wrestling is expanding into the North East part of the USA and to do that they have re-branded as the International Wrestling Federation. Besides that huge news, the HUGE Maple Leaf Gardens show is now officially posted (and edited). Huge things here, including a big main event title change and a few big angles. My best show yet and something I have been building towards for 3 months now.
  15. We'll see what we can do!

  17. Past TV results are here. Past other results are here. Maple Leaf Wrestling September 27, 1983 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario Before the show gets on it's way announcer Billy Red Lyons introduces Maple Leaf Wrestling President Jack Tunney for a huge announcement. Jack Tunney welcomes everybody to the premier sports arena in the world Maple Leaf Gardens. He thanks all the fans for their huge support over the last three months as Maple Leaf Wrestling went from Toronto to all over Ontario and the Maritimes. We have started to show everybody that Toronto wrestling is the best wrestling. Toronto wrestling is in so much demand, that they are going international! In October, besides a huge show here at Maple Leaf Gardens on Thanksgiving, Toronto wrestling will be at Madison Square Garden, Boston Garden and the Spectrum among other large arenas and we will show the rest of the world what Toronto already knows and that is that Toronto wrestling is the best in the world. Since Maple Leaf Wrestling has gone international, we have been renamed as the International Wrestling Federation. That means the current NWA Canadian Tag Team Champions Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and Ivan Koloff are the new IWF Tag Team Champions. Also the winner between Riki Chsohu and Rick Martel will become the first-ever IWF Champion and will receive this brand new championship belt! Jack Tunney reveals the beautiful new IWF Title to the crowd before heading to ringside. International Wrestling Federation September 27, 1983 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario 1. NWA World LP Champion Little Tokyo vs Haiti Kid Haiti put up a tough challenge, but Tokyo cheated his way through this match, including salt to the eyes to retain his title. Winner - Little Tokyo @ 7:51 2. "Thunderfoot" Joel Deaton vs Jerry Brisco Deaton was checked thoroughly for objects before the match, but the referee found nothing. Brisco clearly outwrestled Deaton here, but Deaton was able to stay in control with power and cheating. At one point Deaton rolled to the outside and disappeared under the ring. Back in the ring Brisco looked to be on fire, but one big boot gave Deaton the win and knocked out Brisco. Winner - Joel Deaton @ 6:50 3. Animal Hamiguchi, Isamu Teranishi & Kuniaki Kobayashi vs Ben Bassarab, Tony Garea & Buzz Tyler After Ben Bassarab has a nice shine sequence, Ishi-Gun took over on a long face in peril segment on Bassarab. A hot tag came to Tyler who ran roughshod over everyone. He tagged out to Garea, who got double teamed. Hamiguchi got the pin on Garea for the win. Winners - Animal Hamiguchi, Isamu Teranishi & Kuniaki Kobayashi @ 10:55 4. Killer Khan vs Tiger Conway Jr. Killer Khan is a beast and destroys Conway here. Khan also took out the referee as well, as he seemed out of control. However Khan put on the camel clutch for the submission win. Winner - Killer Khan @ 6:06 5. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine w/ Don Carson vs Wahoo McDaniel in a "Lumberjack Match" The Lumberjacks included: Al Tomko, Angelo Mosca Jr., Nick DeCarlo, Bob Markus, Joe Markus, Gary Royal, Killer Karl Krupp, Paul Christy, Bill White, Masa Fuchi, Alexis Smirnoff and The Super Russian. Valentine and Carson are in the ring waiting for Wahoo to appear, but nobody comes down the ramp. Out of nowhere the lumberjack Super Russian jumps in the ring and attacks Valentine with chops and punches. He gets him in the corner and chops him really hard, which causes Valentine to do a face first bump. The Super Russian then takes off his mask to reveal it is Wahoo McDaniel. From there we get the vicious and bloody brawl you would expect from these two. The lumberjacks at ringside do not have much to do, because Valentine and Wahoo come right at each other and neither backs down or tries to leave the ring. Both men are bleeding buckets and both are red from chops and hammer blows. Late in the contest Valentine is able to toss Wahoo out of the ring, where Smirnoff gets in a vicious shot to the kidneys, before the other lumberjacks throw Wahoo back in. Valentine then goes to work on the kidneys with elbows, forearms and stomps. Wahoo makes a comeback, but his tripped by Smirnoff as he is getting ready to drop the final falling chop, which allows Valentine to roll him up for the victory. Winner - Greg Valentine @ 19:31 Intermission: After the last match Valentine picked up the microphone and said on TV last week that he would beat Wahoo McDaniel and he did. He made it clear that he is the number one contender for the IWF Title and demanded the title shot on Canadian Thanksgiving on October 10th in Maple Leaf Gardens. He called out Rick Martel who did come to ringside. Valentine demanded the shot, but Martel made it clear that contenders are decided on by the Championship committee and if they felt he was next in line, then he was next in line. Don Carson did not like that response and got in Martel's face. This was a clear distraction method as Valentine chop blocked Martel and then put on a vicious leglock which caused Martel to scream in pain. Security and the remaining lumberjacks rushed the ring and pulled Valentine off of him. Martel was helped to the pick, limping the entire way. 6. Cuban Assassin & Chicky Starr vs Rocky Johnson & "Big" Stephen Petipas in a "Toronto Death Match" where Bobby Bass is suspended above the ring in a shark cage Jesse Ventura has a busy second part of the show, so Billy Red Lyons is joined by Pedro Morales for the rest of the evening at the announce booth. As stated on television Bobby Bass refused to go in the cage, luckily Pedro Morales was at ringside and pushed him into the cage and locked it. Bass was then raised above the ring so the "Toronto Death Match" could proceed without incident. This is a falls count anywhere brawl where the victor is the first team to pin their opponent and have them not be able to answer a 10 count. This went all through out the ringside area. Early on Rocky was the first to bleed, opening up his cut from before. A quick pin by the Cubans, but Rocky got up.The real advantage came when Starr was tossed out into the crowd after being hit over the head with a chair. A sleeper by Petipas and then a series of punches by Rocky knocked out the Assassin for good. Starr could not make it back to help his partner on time to get up for the ten count. Winners - Rocky Johnson & Stephen Petipas @ 14:20 7. Evil Machine w/ Jesse Ventura vs "Dirty" Dick Murdoch Before the contest Ventura talked about taking Murdoch out of wrestling. He then applied oil to the Machine. These two brawled all over the ring and punched each other right in the face. Ventura tried to get involved, but Murdoch decked him. A wild brawl ensued and the referee threw out the match as the two men battled down the ramp. Double DQ @ 11:18 Billy Red Lyons gets on the microphone and announces that Martel has demanded that the title match still go on tonight, even with the leg injury. 8. "The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff w/ Don Carson vs Leo Burke After the two time limit draws these two worked at a sprint pace. It was a back and forth affair with numerous nearfalls. In the end Burke ducked the lariat and hit a leg lariat for the win. Winner - Leo Burke @ 18:03 9. Rick Martel vs Riki Choshu w/ Jesse Ventura (IWF Title Match) Rick Martel limped his way to the ring and Ventura was so giddy. He even got on the mic and gave Martel a chance to hand over the title to Choshu before the match even started. Of course Martel refused. Choshu was a shark and went straight to work on the leg. He pulled him out of the ring early on and nailed his leg into both the guardrail and the ring post. Martel could barely stand, but he was not giving up. Even when he fell after being irish whipped. Martel, though, not adverse to being the under ground was able to counter a figure-four with a small package for two. Then when Choshu argued with the referee Martel was able to take Choshu down and nail some elbow drops and put on some arm submissions to regain control. Martel, even though still with a horrible leg, was in control until he attempted a slingshot splash where Ventura pulled his leg causing him to crash to the floor. He was thrown back in and Choshu hit a huge lariat for a super close 2 count. He then put on the Scorpion Deathlock. Martel fought for the rope, but could not make it and had no decision but to submit. Winner and new IWF Champion Riki Choshu @ 12:40 Jack Tunney awarded the brand new IWF Title belt to Riki Choshu and Jesse Ventura as Martel was helped to the back with a team of paramedics.
  18. Yeah, announcers weren't in draft, because they came with the promotion. No promotion has closed that had good announcers, except Georgia and Boon took Solie.
  19. Yeah either of you is fine. Heck, I did the original draft order through the randomizer myself and no one complained.
  20. They are non-wrestling talent. Just like Gordon Solie. Solie was picked up by Boon, so I would say Gorilla/Vince are either picked by you or into the draft.
  21. The Canadian Champion (whoever it is... will be making a title defense as well.) Mistake... I thought this was the October card. My mistake, there is no current Canadian Champion.
  22. The Canadian Champion (whoever it is... will be making a title defense as well.)
  23. That is shocking. I am looking forward to this, the best least talked about podcast around.
  24. Makes sense to me.
  25. Well, that is about 8 guys I could use.... Dayton, Ohio the WWF ran for the first time in October of 83, I may run it. Didn't get time to finish my schedule last night after it became official.
