  1. Ishi-Makabe a new dimension of believability. Holy shit!
  2. However, generally, when a match is just trading big moves it doesn't make for much of a story. I thought the match was pretty good for a Devitt match. I had it at about 3 3/4, so really high for me.
  3. All subjective words. Your original point was that the match felt "your turn / my turn". It depends on what you subjective stance of what makes a good match is (which you have indicated above whilst unknowingly expressing it's subjective) but at the end of the day wrestling matches do tend to be "your turn / my turn" in a competitive match, it's the nature of the beast. But you are implying this is some form of dirty method and the choice of wording "your turn / my turn" sounds patronizing. It's meant to be a competitive contest. You can have a competitive contest with control segments and transitions.
  4. I was huge into him in 2005 time zone, but he seemed to fall off due to drugs. If he had many years at that 2005 level he might sneak in. I thought he was the future of wrestling back then.
  5. watch the Pierrithito matches and you will be convinced.
  6. CZW and Smash both have streaming services too.
  7. The WWE is full of useless ppvs right now just killing time until bigger events. I would say about 4-6 ppvs are not useless on the current WWE schedule.
  8. The re-watch is a more valid assessment, because you have time to reflect and being there live always makes things feel way better or way worse (depending). Then again, according to Meltzer, only the initial reaction counts and you can not re-evaluate things. Thinking about it though, you could ask the same question about watching a live ppv and then re-watching the match 10 years later.
  9. I loved this reaction show. Great job as always. There is nothing better than hearing Dylan pick apart New Japan and Will pointing how much Pete loves The Young Bucks. Personal pet peeve that I have heard Pete do forever and I heard Johnny do it here as well. "Four and three and fourths" sounds incredibly awkward to my ear. "Four and three quarters" sounds much better.
  10. I was on thehistoryofwwe.com and came across the card for the very first wrestling show I attended. The one and only time the WWF/E has ever put on a show in Brockville. WWF @ Brockville, Ontario - Memorial Centre - May 26, 1993 Tatanka defeated Razor Ramon Doink the Clown defeated Crush Owen Hart defeated Terry Taylor The Undertaker defeated Giant Gonzalez WWF Tag Team Champions Ted Dibiase & IRS defeated Rick & Scott Steiner I actually remember a lot of this. Giant Gonzalez was huge in person. Looking back, this show isn't so bad actually. What do you guys have as your first?
  11. Maple Leaf Gardens would gladly host the title change match.
  12. I haven't seen this match in years, but I'm going through old SummerSlams and this was a huge surprise. This is the period where Jimmy Hart left the Harts and was giving information to Fuji and Demolition before this match, so Demos have Fuji and Hart in their corner. It pays off well at the beginning, because Demolition ends the shine sequence the way the Hart Foundation always used to with the kick in the back while the opponent is running the ropes. After the first face in peril, we get a second where Demolition whips Bret face first into the turnbuckle busting the cane in half and Bret hitting the post as well. Demolition than become the Andersons and destroy Bret's shoulder with submissions, punches and slams. It's really a great face in peril beat down. Bret finally makes a hot tag, after some fun teases, and Neidhart is a great hot tag just hitting dropkicks and slams and then a freaking assisted slingshot plancha! Holy shit. There are some real nice nearfalls for the Harts, but a distraction and a mega phone shot gives Demolition the win. I LOVED THIS! It told a great story and used the storylines coming into the match. Both teams looked great.
  13. More bizarre than The Bushwhackers being Dudley Boyz in ECW for an evening?
  14. http://placetobenation.com/the-paywindah-1/ On the debut episode of The PayWindah, Pete, Johnny and Steven break down all of the action from the prior week, from indies to international to WWE. Marty joins in to report on a WWE house show he attended that had a surprise from The Rock. Come back next week for a brand new episode as the crew find their groove in this new adventure.
  15. Well it looks like Jack Tunney is trying a new method instead of relying too heavily on other promotions.
  16. Toronto wasn't a real promotion. It was just another loop of Crockett with some Canada Titles and talent mixed kind of. Strange stuff.
  17. Any insight that people may have with the TV format let me know. I am confident with major shows, not so much with TV.

    Ric Flair

How could Lawler not be top 100? What more could he do? I understand having him lower than top 5, but not even top 100?
  19. There is a lot of amazing stuff on here for month 1. I wish there was dates, not just generic year dates (or none at all), but the footage is amazing.
  20. Hansen vs Valentine is now my number one dream match of all time.

Winner - Mr. Saito @ 9:02 -COMMERCIAL- The announce crew inform us that next week on Television from Moncton, New Brunswick we will see Leo Burke take on Ivan Koloff in a prelude to the round robin tournament for the NWA Canadian Tag Team Titles. They then introduce a clip from the Canada Cup shortly after Rick Martel was awarded the Canada Cup and the NWA Canadian Title: As photos are snapped, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair crashes the party. He talks about seeing some great wrestling tonight, but notes that the Canadian Title and Maple Leaf Wrestling is nothing compared to American wrestling and the home of the United States Title Jim Crocket Promotions. Ric Flair promises to return on July 26 in Maple Leaf Gardens with 4 of his American wrestling friends and he will show Canadian wrestling fans what true wrestling really is. At this point he slaps Rick Martel as security separates them. This is follows by a backstage interview with Martel afterwards. He demanded a match with Flair to show the whole world that Canada is better than America and he will ruin Flair for interrupting this great moment on Canada's birthday! Dark Matches: Ben Bassarab defeated Killer Karl Krupp @ 8:00. Leo Burke & Stephen Petipas fought Ivan Koloff & Alexis Smirnoff to a 30 minute draw. Wahoo McDaniel defeated Joel Deaton @ 12:21.
  23. Exactly. A few weeks when we are close, if people are almost done. However extending for footage seems pointless, as there will always be new footage.
  24. Is there really no support for Martel?
