The star-thing often is a circular thing. If you want someone to become a star, treat them like a star. Do you think Roman Reigns ever would have gotten to the level he is right now if they would have treated him like let's say Zack Ryder for a bunch of years? No, when Roman came in, they introduced the time keeper barricade for him to spear through, gave him the Diesel-run at the Rumble, let him run the gauntlet at Survivor Series etc.

I am disappointed, I would have expected a thread title like "Haaland is going to break all records if he stays fit". Just looked at the current All Out lineup. They had Dark Order go over the House of Black in the trios tournament and don't even have House of Black on the card?

A video game magazine I read 25 years ago put my perspective on wrestling games pretty well: wrestling games (if they take themselves seriously and pretend to be a simulation) are missing the point of pro wrestling due to the, well, worked nature of pro wrestling. Plus, I am not the biggest fan of sports video games period. I usually play single player and sports game become very repetitive and there is a limit what you can do besides the core mechanics. For example, as a Gamepass user, a couple of months ago I spent a couple of hours with FIFA 21. Besides having better replay animations, the game plays very much like the last football game I owned (some PES game for PS2) and (as you play zoomed out quite a bit) does not even look 2-3 generations (or 20 years, if you will) better. As far as I can judge the same is true for the WWE games that in core mechanics are still not that different from the early PS2 Smackdown games (e.g. Here comes the pain! - the last wrestling video game I bought).

Talking about racist WWE executives, is Michael Hayes still employed and in a position of power?

I listened a bit to the reaction of Cornette on Vince's retirement and Cornette's complete lack of understanding of how law works is astounding. He assumed that Vince cannot be criminally charged for sexual harassment because he bought the woman off.

His next step will be to call Regal to ask what's going on with NXT.
-
Like all wrestlers, he will be back within a year.
-
The only consolation is that one day Vince will die and he better hopes that there is no afterlife because I don't think there is any religion on this planet that would predict a happy "beyond" for him.

Which would be weird because Bruce told them "I looooooooooove you".

On the women's side it is barely a contest.

I think the thing that Meltzer has said about the Pillman worked-shoot in the past was that the only one making any money from it was himself as it boosted his newsletter sales.

Marc Mero's SSP looked pretty safe, I thought. He usually did it tucked, which I assume is easier, but still.

Well, there is the reverse screw-job of David Sammartino.

Ok, I misremembered that, still, this has bad idea written all over it. Robert Gibson also was not very mobile last I saw him, so Ricky Morton had to work for three people.

So two people around 70 with a history of heart issues? What could go wrong... How about making it an eight man tag and adding Jerry Lawler and Bill Eadie?

At what point did the ring announcers stopped saying where the wrestlers are hailing from and what they are weighing? Okay, they have not announced the weight of the women for a long time (because talking about the weight of women is sexist?), but at least yesterday, they did this for the men as well plus no more billing where the people are from.

The agent that came up with that spot / okayed it should be fired.

It probably took some time for them to ensure that they are not the ones getting worked when jumping on the NFT train.

The "this is real, this is straight edge" (WrestleRave, I think) promo? That was nothing like this promo besides Punk being bloody.

I hope Tony Khan delivers more than Goldberg turning heel.

Austin Aries: The Adventures of an Arrogant Asshole
Robert S replied to KawadaSmile's topic in Pro Wrestling
For Austin Aries every new promotion means another bridge to burn. -
Jesus, that one would even be stupid if it didn't happen is Saudi Arabia (remember the Berzerker trying to stab the Undertaker?). That's on a level with Randy Orton trying to break Edge's neck with a lat pulldown machine (that's how Wikipedia calls it, I don't know if that is the proper term) at Wrestlemania 36, a week or two after the Chris Benoit Dark Side of the Ring episode aired (the match was shot a day or two after the episode aired).

WWE TV 2/14-2/20 Anything worth talking about this week?
Robert S replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in WWE
A lot of the things Nana did 15-20 years back could get an indy promotion "cancelled". Could you imagine someone doing stuff like ROH did with Nana (et al.) and Jade Chung in 2005? -
So I guess "Cody and Brandi used to be All Elite"?
