  1. It just strikes me as "I read a self-help book and I think I could do that." Maybe he could excel at it just like Mero, but I personally think self-help seminars/books are as big a work as wrestling. As far as nutritional supplements, I'd say 95% of the super jacked guys making money endorsing them are juiced to the max. To admit it would kill their market. To mislead the public to think they too could put on 50 pounds of lean mass and stay cut if they take the same pre-workout/whey protein/creatine products the the spokesman do is another work. On second thought, maybe he is a perfect fit.
  2. Dave said in his update that Ryback plans to start a nutritional supplement line and a self help book. bwhahaha I wonder if his book will contain a chapter on how to passive-aggressively cry about your card placement even to go as far to have a belt embroidered with "The Pre Show Stopper" and how productive that is. And supplements .... right your own joke here.
  3. May have to watch this in full later, as it is the last match I watched before going back to cover certain aspects of Jan-Apr. I enjoyed what I saw and didn't realize this was Vader's debut. Just a week earlier he was doing a run-in on WWF PPV.
  4. Gannosuke has been a surprise for me so far this year. Here I am 1/3 of the way through 1998 and never thought I'd have enjoyed the FMW stuff as much as I have. Some of it is okay, but this was really good and I look forward to watching some of this stuff back to back before moving on to May in an effort to shore up my MOTYC stuff.
  5. Weird choice of music and highlights. Okay for what it was.
  6. Almost sounds like he gets a little choked up. Very good addition to the yearbook. A great piece I've never seen before.
  7. Aborted angles. Add incomplete main event segments that border on false advertising and you sum up 1998 WCW pretty well.
  8. "Hey man!" The guy just wanted to dance!
  9. I great cap to a really good edition of Raw. Things building to a certain point with no plot holes and garnering interest. Hmm, novel idea.
  10. I fucking hate this character.
  11. Nice little addition to the ongoing top program. It felt somewhat authentic, much more than if something was done like this today. "Follow us on Twitter #backstageconsipracy"
  12. Great stuff. Vince is natural heel and this shows why they are leaving WCW in the dust.
  13. Foley couldn't even bring himself to say he banged these two chicks even in storyline. A man with family values. And here I thought it was a post-retirement gimmick,
  14. A great, memorable segment. I loved X-pac saying, "Hey, it's me, Sean Waltman, just wanted to know why you fired me ..."
  15. I think Bret regrets his decision by this point.
  16. This started with a bang, but is puffing along on fumes until Malenko returns.
  17. What a consolation for losing his mask.
  18. Brutal. Right down to the sing-a-long with Nash and Konnan.
  19. Yeah the Over the Edge match is the better one IIRC. This was okay.
  20. It was nice to see the finish and not the whole match because you can only see the flames rise (via remote control via the guy next to Brisco at ringside) after big bumps. The tope was amazing, the Vader storyline consistency was great as well. Taker waffles Kane with a chair and then chases Bearer while the people under the ring grease up Kane's right hand with the fire retardant stuff. Kane actually does a full back bump into the flames and probably got blisters on his exposed arm as well. The fire on his arm and him running away was a great visual as well. This is how you do a gimmick/stipulation match, WCW. Fuck your "bat on a pole" we have fire surrounding the ring,
  21. After the great buildup last week, Idol no-shows. If Hales didn't have Lawler around to explain this nobody would have cared. I loved Dundee punching Lawler in the mouth. Stacey getting physically involved was nice. She was there last week in the background. I can't get over Hales and the way he moves his head constantly like a newborn baby who hasn't developed enough strength in his neck muscles to hold up his head. It's distracting and definitely not something that helps me buy him as a legit authority figure.
  22. Went too long. To "insider" for me and especially for Memphis. Unless you are Jerry Lawler, don't talk about real stuff in Memphis. Don't know what Williams is mad about as he was in the tag NKOTB with Brian Christopher with a small push, until Brian went solo, so I guess he has a point. The epitome of a 1998 doucehbag with the dress, hairstyle, accessories, etc. Kid Wikkid, yeah.
  23. I agree with pretty much everything Loss said. This wasn't one of the best Lucha matches I've ever seen, but with the wrestlers involved I don't think it's capable of being bad by any stretch of the imagination. Definite re-watch.
  24. For someone who doesn't like BattleArts I may have to agree this was the best match I've seen up to this point from the company. Definite re-watch.
  25. Bagwell legit hurt. Everybody is concerned until, you know, he pops up out of the wheelchair still an nWo member later in the year.
