[1999-02-20-WCW-Saturday Night] El Dandy vs Fit Finlay
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1999
In team Will for this one, one of the better 5 minute matches I think you will see. Larry was annoying as hell on commentary talking about how Dandy solely relys on aerial moves. Sigh. Anyway this mixed in some good wrestling before FInlay puts Dandy away with a nice tombstone. **1/2- 5 replies

[1999-02-20-MPPW-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Sean Stasiak (Falls Count Anywhere)
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1999
Stacey presents her fliers to Dave and says that sex sells. Im digging this storyline. She helps both men out throughout the short match here and really hits Lawler with the purse shot that led to the finish. Match was disappointing but I am digging the angle overall. *- 4 replies

Jerry listens to a taped promo from Terri running down Memphis but giving an open invitation to King if he is up North. Jerry seems pretty sleazy discussing all of this.

Michael Hayes is awesome here all fired up and bringing life to this feud. He seems to really relish the role and its a shame he was tempered with the Hardys as he had a lot to give as this proves. Baxter seems to take the marching orders well but we will see how long that lasts.

Goldberg felt very natural and funny in this setting. Sadly more charismatic than Nash even at this point. He also has a sense of sincere towards him than Hogan. Goldberg throwing the gauntlet down towards Austin was annoying and forced. I think Costner has a man crush on Goldberg.

Great promo by Flair trying to resurrect this feud after the gaffe Monday night. Flair has really carried the weight overall and I think he definitely should be held responsible for most of the buyrate as Hogan has been a non-factor except for sneak attacks.

[1999-02-18-WCW-Thunder] Lex Luger and Rey Misterio Jr
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1999
Rey is pretty heelish here with this attack. Liz shrills at the sight of Lex getting hurt. -
[1999-02-18-ARSION-1st Anniversary Show] Mariko Yoshida vs Hiroumi Yagi
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1999
What an awesome match. Some bomb throwing in the first minute and then we settle into a complete chess match where Yoshida goes after the leg and then Yagi starts going after her arm with a vengeance. Everything felt like a struggle and the last ten minutes were incredibly dramatic. The choke tap out finish was great and both women looked incredibly strong coming out of this match. One of the best mat based matches in wrestling history. ****1/2- 9 replies

I thought this was easily their second best match. Hot action mixed with some nasty bumps like the Rock Bottom through the table, Rocks step bump and the chokeslam from the top. Big Show gets involved setting up his match vs. Mankind although Austin has issues with him still which could have been a nice glimpse at a future feud if some patience should have been shown. Austin was great on color and Rock is receiving credit for him making their mania match feel bigger. Good stuff all around. ***1/2

KOnnan and Jake get into a big altercation to set up a match. Ok then.

[1993-04-10-SMW-TV] Heavenly Bodies & Jim Cornette and Bob Armstrong
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1993
Good stuff here with Pritchard and Eaton getting chippy with each other, Lane not knowing where his allegiance should lie with, and Cornette trying to keep it together with Caudle poking in as much as he can. Good way of making the fallout of Bluegrass Brawl something different and interesting. -
I took it as Cornette ordering the match stopped during the break or the "clock" ran out. Still some good stuff of friends getting progressively more violent and pissed off while their manager loses his mind at ringside.

I hate the way Yoko beats Bret, that is honestly the most offensive thing to this besides Fuji being a horrible manager. You can see some fans in the crowd giving a fuck off to Hogan winning but the pop wasn't awful or anything. I guess I am conditioned to the crowd completing shitting on stuff the past few years, that this reaction seems really tame in retrospect.

I didn't think I would hate this but I certainly didn't think I would have to think long and hard on whether it is better than Kandori vs. HOkuto and yet here we are. The action here is relentless but everything is executed very well. Beyond that, there is a good bit of storyline revolving around the match that adds an extra level to the overall match. Kansai getting the first pinfall so quick really sets the tone and the finish feels poignant and decisive. A really incredible match that is worked with a frantic pace but doesn't betray the parameters of what made wrestling work in the previous decades. *****

[1993-04-06-NJPW-Magnitude X] Genichiro Tenryu vs Riki Choshu
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1993
No issues with Choshu winning here as it provides more intrigue instead of feeling like them just trading wins. This tightened up the sloppiness from the Dome match and kept up the intensity and nastiness to craft a great match. I like all the matches between these two but I think this match may be their best. Give me more of this feud please. ****1/4- 11 replies

I thought this was good but again suffers from the other quality we have had so far on the set. The opening matwork was fine but things kicked off with the dive sequence and lead into the finish. I am surprised Liger hasn't had that one great match vs. a WAR member since an invasion feud feels like something he would excel in. ***1/4

Crazy to watch in retrospect but we have already seen some glimpses of his USWA stuff. I think just seeing this video on a promotion that was ECW was more of a culture shock though.

[1993-04-04-WWF-Wrestlemania IX] Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake vs Money Inc.

I always hated the finish to this match even as a kid and this gets worse every time. Why they thought they won the title because Hart just turned his jacket inside out I will ever know. -

Savage pulling up Hennan's toga is amazing. This is a ton of great fun with the theme being implemented. I can appreciate that in the day and age where every PPV set looks the same.- 12 replies

This still is the best run of Sullivan IMO and continues the psychotic vibe here with this skit.
