Another overall cool segment. I still really oddly like Leatherface as a character and we had some decent improvisation when the chainsaw screws up.
-
We finally get our money Eddie Marlin segment here. Embry was on another level here with his hair being flipped out just more to up the ante of the hair vs. hair match. The handicap match sounds like a shit load of fun and they better not weasel out of the stakes. My favorite line was Embry saying he could tell that Marlin had been in the business for 40 years. This was one of my favorite things in USWA this year.

I was also not a fan of the imagination sequences and sadly the Hennan one probably hit a little close to home. Savage's appearance though in his green outfit was glorious and really helped build the wedding for SummerSlam as a big attraction.
-
Hillbilly's guitar playing was pretty good. The singing..... not so much. Hennan getting chastised by Gorilla for all his antics was a hoot as well as seeing the corporate crowd clap along.
-
Don't recall any of this.

I love the clips that were interspersed throughout this show. 1991 seems like a really interesting year for the Big 2 with WCW transgressions and WWF having a fairly solid booking year with them taking more chances than they had previously.

This had to have been a shock to people not in the know. Paul E on his phone after the announcement was a nice touch. Herd announces the new main event for the Bash.

Ohtani, I didn't take joshi to mens Japanese wrestling to be a literal translation of the NBA to WNBA thing, just that different ascetics can affect your viewing of a style as a whole.. I do think though that while NBA and WNBA are both basketball games they are not the same thing. Joshi can have a wide variety of different matches and I am a fan of the style.
-
Glad that weird sound is only for the first segment. Sounded like Loss was on life support. The joshi debate is one of the more interesting conversations I have heard in a podcast. So much in fact, that I don't know where my stance is. I thought the WNBA and NBA thing was a valid analogy but Loss brought up some really astute points.

There are a couple of other guys on this board going (bigelow34, bradhindsight) and they will be setting up meet ups and get togethers throughout the weekend if you want to PM them.

Just noticed that Loss had that awesome Cota vs. Rocca match ranked high here 6 years ago. Pretty impressive.

Crazy Embry comes out and cuts a scorching promo until Jerry runs him off. Jerry begs him to come back and I figured this would be it to build up Monday night and the lumberjack stip. But Eric does come back and we get a cool scene with chairs being thrown at each other. Good chaotic scene to end things out with the lumberjacks out.
-
Was this from a spot show or were they still not at the MSC at this time? Jarrett gives a diving elbow in the corner during this match that looked really good. The action in this looked good overall but it sort of feels like overkill with the cage stip with what is going on between Embry and Lawler.
-
The flower being brought for Fargo was a nice touch. Embry gives a good ranting promo and feels justified in regards to the cards stacked against him heading into the lumberjack match Monday.
-
Here for historical significance that for quality of the actual match. RVD does have more of a technical base than you might imagine and mixes in his impressive high flying stuff well. Interference causes him to lose this match and he begs Eddie Marlin for a rematch.
-
That match is honestly one of my favorite matches of all time. There is something insanely corny yet endearing about it that I can't escape. It brings all such of hokey type things you see as fundraises and mixes in two of the best wrestlers of all time. Dr. McCarver also has the time of his life out there.

Shouldnt be Rovert. I was just able to download from it. Let me know if you still encounter problems. -
can I get a link to the Santo son matches in Monterray that were talked about on this pod.

I feel I have three big blind spots that prevent me from contributing a list at this moment (80's lucha, 80's joshi, and 80's British). Breaks was someone that Dylan had on his list who I really have no opinion of. The way Satanico has looked lately he could be a top 20 candidate but I am not sure where I could put him now just based on that and the 90's stuff I have seen.
-
I agree that having the show in the Omni was probably the most homer thing I did on the show. I also like your tweak on the Thunderlips thing and it is something I didn't think about but would work.

Pratt, don't want to spoil the podcast but the discussion that centers around Bret and whether or not he made the respective lists was very interesting. That is my favorite thing about this show. There is some minor quibbles I have (Funk would be around #10-#20 for me) and then bigger ones (Would honestly be surprised if someone like Sabu would show up in my top 100) but there is always justification to the choice and I can chalk it up to different preferences and tastes. This, the time travel episode, Lawler/Funk/Flair roundtable, and Funk as the GOAT are my favorite podcasts in the first 50.

Just got to Dylan's honorable mentions and have a perverse desire to see a Smothers/Cena vs. Blackwell/Emilio Charles tag match.
