  1. The only problems I really have with this match is the electric bump (ridiculously dumb looking, one box exploding that Foley didn't even hit) & that finish. Kills a lot of the match for me, because logically WHY DID YOU WAIT SO LONG. Rock & Foley got their characters over great in this, and Lawler getting serious when we got the chair segment was good. This had the potential to be special, but missed the mark.
  2. Is this the best casket match? Nothing else really comes to mind. The casket spots are tremendous. Loved the jumping tombstone into the casket. The finish is whatever, more setting up for the 'Mania match. Really enjoyed this though.
  3. Good opener for the '98 Rumble. The Vader Bomb with Luna on the back is a very memorable spot, and made Vader look great. Dustin was very solid work wise in this.
  4. Sludge of a match. Bret was on offense for nearly the entire match, and felt like a chore to watch. Finish was sloppy with the ref having to move around the entire ring to get in position for the Diesel pull out, catching himself up in the ropes even. Nash is really great at being a prick, just dropping the finger and mockingly walking out.
  5. Worked really well with the leg/back targeting, but Bret felt quite strong on offense even with a good bit of heeling. Overbooked. Felt super unfair to Diesel as he had the match won. Finish was goofy with the all out run-ins.
  6. Wahoo doesn't even want interest on his money. Brisco/Piper work a headlock to the fullest, and it's great. The referee caught Piper cheating all match, but then misses the coins flying all over the place before the pin. Piper escapes with everybody's money & the belt. Great stuff.
  7. Hogan & Flair were working their asses off for this. I was really enjoying the intensity between the two at this stage. Hogan hitting Flair with the belt til Flair just shoots for a ankle pick on Hogan, which Hogan just answers with wild belt swinging was awesome. The shitty storyline finish/turn killed it from being a really memorable great late-WCW match, sadly.
  8. Lance Russell holding a light up and directing traffic to film the brawl makes it feel so organic and real.
  9. Watching this after watching all the 77-78 stuff I could find between the two. A rushed version of the classic match. Steamboat's offense is really over and working in front of the Japanese crowd. I don't think I like it as much as most their stuff, but still really good.
  10. Stretcher hits a pretty smooth counter on one of Sonnenberg's tackles to take his back.
  11. Sonnenberg like in most of the footage available gets great crowd reaction for his football techniques. The finish seems Sonnenberg going for a big slam and getting tripped up & pinned. Not bad.
  12. Pretty wild moment in this when Sonnenberg tackles Plestina through the ropes all the way to the floor.
  13. the grappling in these matches was actually pretty fun to watch. first match even featured a cool gut wrench.
  14. Eric going full Cobra Kai is hilarious, imagining dyed hair Bischoff doing wheel kicks to a juiced up Vince .
  15. The Wolfpac seem to be over big, even though the group lacks any form of chemistry. The red and black was smart switch up, and was pretty popular. Nash comes off so goofy, trying to tap in the pop culture of the time.
  16. I'd never seen this before. Bagwell's head extending backwards after ramming into Rick's back, frightening. The show comes to a halt, and the updates leave you thinking the worst.
  17. Now, we can add Bret to the dead in the water club with Sting. He's done. We see him in the following weeks rocking a Hogan shirt and hanging with NWO Black and White, a total dork.
  18. One of Goldberg's highlight matches. Raven did a great job of structuring this, and speaks a lot of him as a mind.
  19. WCW is having a stretch of some of the worst finishes ever. Impressive. Sting has been killed dead.
  20. Savage going to Harvard's campus in 1998 to accept the award is hilarious. Reading this makes it even funnier. https://www.thecrimson.com/article/1998/2/18/kline-savage-honored-as-men-of/
  21. I thought this was an awesome follow up to the botch. Making the jackknife the most dangerous move in wrestling. This will now lead to a giant pop once Nash says screws it and hits it months later..... (well, that's how it should've gone) Instead, Nash just continues to do it disregarding any punishments that might be brought to him, including on this very Nitro.
  22. Enjoyed the match enough. Two guys clearly familiar with each other trying to make a point. Trading holds, and upping counters. Even had the correct finish. Sadly, I don't think Bret got much out of it. You outclassed Flair, and got the clean victory, but I can't help but feel like nobody really cared that Hart beat Flair. Bret needed to be making a impact beating a top NWO guy, and working his way up the ladder. Not beating old foes, yet again.
  23. Flair is working his ass off to build this match up, Bret comes out and does enough to keep you interested. Still don't like this being Bret's first program.
  24. I'm sure after the trainwreck of a finish at Starrcade, they're looking to fix that by giving Sting a nice clean win to secure the clear victory over Hogan and the NWO. Wait? they cut if off before the finish? I'm sure everything went good after! Stinger clean win they'll show to a great rating next monday.... sure.
  25. The promo itself is great, but a Flair/Hart repeat as the first program was questionable. Who proposed this?
