Getting dates mixed up is one thing. We all do that. Getting mixed up about weather you were on a show where a guy was stabbed to death in the locker room in one of the most famous incidents in wrestling history then had to go work on that same show is something entirely different. I do think this was likely a "Flair's brain isn't what it used to be" thing by the way, as opposed to a "Flair is bullshitting people on purpose" thing. But it isn't the most encouraging sign.

Honestly that's up there with Hogan's story about the Undertaker dropping him on his head in 1978.

Every time I go through the yearbooks and see the term "good for joshi" (or some other thinly veiled insult backhanded compliment variant of that), I feel like turning off my computer. Just thought I'd get that out there. Anyway, overall Aja for me. Though other women had better peaks. But I like her overall body of work that I've seen a lot.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

Workers should probably do more of that especially in this age of easy access to digital video (my pretty basic 5 year old camera can still take video), and how easy putting video on disk is. I think the guys that make it out of this gen will be ones that take advantage of little things like that to help sell themselves. This will always be a business where especially at the lower levels, the ability to self-promote is important. -
I need to dig up the cool list someone did that put all the Mid South extras into (relative) time frame context for watching while you go through the set. I don't think it's archived though probably one of the lost things at the moment.

Good goin' FLIK, nice to see you having a good time with it all. -
Those Vince singing pics are like a Garfield Minus Garfield cartoon.

Even before I was smartened up, the WWF hanging out Vader to dry here seemed... weird. Like they were looking for a reason to get after him.

[1997-07-14-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin & ?? vs Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith
Death From Above replied to Loss's topic in July 1997
Part of me actually wonders what it would have been like if there was more Dude Love stuff and less face Mankind, wearing shirt and tie, redeemed movie monster stuff. I mean once he'd taken the mask off in WWF it seemed weird putting it back on. Foley was such a fun promo he might have actually pulled it off. Putting on facepaint and being Muta then taking it off and being Muto has always been a stretch for me, know what I mean? I admit I could be way out on my own branch here. -
Chael Sonnen - still the world's greatest carny!

Wanderlei gets into the act: http://middleeasy.com/fighting/item/11753-..._medium=twitter "I will make you swallow your teeth, you loser." -
Sasaki had some good stuff in the early 90's, then was really bad until nearly the turn of the century. Got good for a little while and then Japanese wrestling went off a cliff and I lost track of it all. His early stuff he tended to play "power wrestler but still underdog to bigger stars" and he was good at that, but then he gets into Invincible Power Slam Man phase and it doesn't really come back together again for me for years. Also, there should totally be a Japanese wrestler named Invincible Power Slam Man.

I tapped out at "horrible entrance music" considering Bret might have had one of maybe 5 WWF themes that were even tolerable in the presence of normal people up to that point.

Hogan and Mayor Ford having fun: https://twitter.com/HulkHogan/status/370918...1593217/photo/1 -
Hogan has been smart enough to keep himself together to where he can do things like two-man Q and A's with Bischoff, like the one he is hyping coming up in Toronto. Basically a glorified lecture circuit for wrestling fans. Hogan likes having some degree of the spotlight too much to let himself go. I think that's the catch with him; it's Hogan's love of fame that has probably kept him from doing the really goofy stuff. Hogan's eye has never left the ball. He still probably thinks he can get one last WWE payoff when TNA has to give him up (and he's probably not wrong). Where as Ric has become more the Axl Rose type that sees fame as a method of justifying the self destruction.

I will say there's no reason to think he couldn't have beat up Shawn Michaels if he wanted to, sure. I mean, Cornette does claim he suggested the whole screwjob angle as a joke, but use Shamrock so that if Bret tried any shit in return you'd have someone in there that could handle it.

Ford is a crazy person. But as someone far, far the fuck away from Toronto I find him entertaining. I'd hate him if I actually lived there I think. -
I'm actually pretty interested in this topic in general. Obviously a lot of stars are keeping their looks through smoke and mirrors ranging from expensive cosmetics (and staff), to plastic surgery. But I do wonder how much of it gets a lot darker than that.
-
Genuinely curious if this is meant as a good or bad thing.
-
I hate everything about this angle other than Kane's actual debut which was so weird and movie monster-ish.

Bret was never a good enough amateur to believe there's any reason he's some sort of closet shooter. Granted I say that as someone who has a relative that wrestled Bret in high school. Which was like a million years ago.

Big Show was great in his one cameo on Star Trek Enterprise although like me and 8 other people saw it. He could probably get lots of work as "giant goon #1" if he wanted to.
-
The FU doesn't bug me. WWE has a ton of moves that are "I gently set you down on the mat" so it's not like it stands out. His STF is dogshit terrible though. Then again Misawa had that dinky little facelock thing too. Big deal.

Convoluted contract logic in pro wrestling
Death From Above replied to Loss's topic in Pro Wrestling
I don't know but I'd like one of those "steal someone's Valet" contracts too.
