WWE Presents Crown Jewel: Halloween Pumpkin Spice Edition
El-P replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
The big ALERT! looks like a Facebook Safety Check. -
The novelty has worn off with me, I'm bored already with a presentation that has zero actual good wrestling matches. Promos only get you so far, especially with workers you don't especially want to actually work a match (Aldis is dull as fuck in the ring to me). Colt Cabana was the best worker in the show. Hey, that's Kobra Moon ! I'm always for watching some Lucha Underground castoff. The Third Serpent needs to show up somewhere now ! Trevor Murdoch should get a lot more time. Jocephus a lot less. Women match was bad but Marti Belle is just that. Eddie Kingston looks totally out of place taking crazy-ass chair bumps in this context (also, Corny = hypcrite), I wish he could get in some bigger promotion to do his magic. No Kamille nor Tim Storm = worst episode yet. Yeah, not a very good week. Looking forward to see the Rock'n Roll Express. Last time I watch a match of theirs, they were on a Bar Wrestling show (I guess they are more open minded than others). I really wonder what matches they are gonna build for their PPV. James Storm vs Cabana ? Drake vs Aldis ? Kingston & Homicide v Rock'n Roll (now this I would want to watch). Thunder Rosa vs Alyssin Kay ?

WWE Presents Crown Jewel: Halloween Pumpkin Spice Edition

Wait for the endless barrage of PR bullshit about "This is hope" and stuff. -
Come on now. Brazilian accent is awesome in any language. Well, it's great in French anyway. Especially for women (hetero male speaking, it's the same for men actually). Sexy as shit. Proof :

Well, the more it goes, the more it looks like a complete meltdown. He really has done himself no favors here... It's like this whole T-shirt (which really looked racist) was only used, one month after the fact, because he was frustrated with where his career was going (which could be perfectly understandable, plus the guy is really talented from what I've seen before in NJPW and MLW)...
-
I'm not sure I could do an Inspector Clouseau accent. Probably not. Someone once said on this board he was reading my posts like I was speaking like Inspector Clouseau. Lana did a perfectly good fake Russian accent for Rocky IV. Which was basically the gimmick at first.

What struck me is how small most of the luchadors are. Pillman is not a huge guy, and Dragon Lee looked tiny next to him. The match was quite fun yeah, a good learning experience for Pillman for sure. I have enjoyed those Crash episodes quite a bit. What MLW really needs is : luchadors, Salina, Dynasty, Hart Foundation and more Salina. LA Park should win the title, since it's almost never defended anyway. The guy is ridiculously good still. Fatu, as cool as some of his stuff looks, really has done jackshit with the title, even Tom Lawlor's reign was more memorable. Yeah, the PPV looks interesting despite the booking (which is, infact, the opposite of IMPACT, which has a really strong, logical, building up to big shows booking up and down the cards every time)

You realize every time you use that word, I picture what the Iron Sheik would sound like with a brazilian accent.

Sean Oliver's Kayfabe Podcast
El-P replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
It has nothing to do with having "heat". Having "heat" means the audience wants to see you get beat up because you're an asshole, and has fun hating on you. No one wants to see Russo in any capacity, apart from his little clique of fanboys online. Turning people off and away doesn't mean you have heat with an audience. Booking Russo in 2019 reeks of desperation click baiting. -

Wait, when does "heat" is a concept that has anything to do with the Internet ? Heat, by definition, exists with the audience. Callihan has tons of heat with IMPACT's audience, his angles and promos always get heat. Hell, PAC, whom you love so much, got lots of heat from the AEW audience the last two weeks. Russo has no heat, he's not a performer, he doesn't work anywhere. He's just an idiot doing a stupid podcast. There's no "heat" there. -

Callihan in IMPACT, White in NJPW. Took me two seconds. Well, it sure did not work for me, because I was a fan of KC, and the very fact Oliver started with two Russo podcast week to week and the talked about how Russo is the only guy with real heat was enough for me to shut the whole thing down and not think about it anymore because of how stupid and a waste of time it is, so... -
The fact Myles deleted is tweet on Lethal proves he knows he fucked up, because although he's right about the T-shirt deal, which is straight down racist, it made him and the point he was making no favors. I really wonder what the hell will happen for him now though. There's probably no coming back from this inside the WWE (either way), but I don't see them releasing him. I mean, so he can show up the next week on Dynamite cutting promos about how this is an inclusive place while the other guys are racist shits doing minstrel designed T-shirts ?
-
I never pretended concern. I said "hopefully for them". I just made an observation and gave reasons why it was actually not exactly the same thing as AEW. No need to be passive agressive. I dunno, if I posted "NWA Powerr lost half their viewers in two weeks, lolcosplay.", yeah, I would get it, but really...

Hey, I watch tons of shit on Youtube, more than on actual TV really, but I know I'm not representative of anything, so...
-
Well, sorry is my post rubbed you wrong, but the apparent pattern isn't enough to say it's the same thing as AEW that's all. It would be interesting to have the medium age of the viewers of the program, because I don't really see a majority of 40 years old + watching stuff mostly on Youtube. Yet I don't see this show drawing youngsters either. Same for MLW. Who is actually watching those shows ?
-
Well, not exactly. AEW is already on a major national TV and they are doing bigger numbers than expected, and really good numbers with the demographic that they are aiming for, despite the overall slow decreasing trend. NWA is a taped Youtube show that is not financially sustainable. They lost half of their initial viewership in two weeks. If they want to keep on going they will need TV. Hopefully for them they can maintain this weeks number or get back some traction.

Well, he certainly is throwing his name out there, to say the least... Where does the calling of Jay Lethal an Uncle Tom come from ? Although he's right about the T-shirt, Hogan and probably about a whole lot too, I wonder if that one is not a misstep... Not sure if pointing fingers to guys like Lethal is a good move as far as perception goes. Can't wait to the the shit hitting the fan...

After 5 days, the second episode had about 200k less viewers than the first episode. At the same state, the third episode has about 70-100k less viewers than the second episode had. It's still doing way more than MLW (which is on TV otherwise), and it's still a really good number anyway, but the trend right now is not exactly reflecting the hype the show first got. I wonder at what number they will settle down...
