  1. Retrospectively and considering some of the results, opening the gate to a flood of voters who were 1/never around the board as active member 2/didn't participate one bit in the debates/pimping process was a major mistake though. For instance, take Daniel Bryan's #1 votes… it's pretty telling.
  2. I agree with this. I was the "old workrate guy lost in the 90's" apparently, despite high votes for CM Punk, AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Fujiwara, Fujinami and Bock in my top 10. But what can you do ? I think a bunch of people took this version a little too seriously (as showed by the tone of the first post) with some actual agendas in mind. As far as the board these days, sure, it seems like he's asleep a bit, but it was predictable.
  3. I think it happened the last time around too. SC had less activity after the GWE poll in 2006 too. I think it drains some people.
  4. Short answer : no. Long answer : no. It was always the case. Was it ? Wait, I thought there was no "groupthink" in PWO ? So who is supposed to be that "we" ? The goal was : let's rank who we think are the top 100 greatest wrestler ever. Masturbatory ? Well, it was fun (at least for some it was, I guess). But masturbation can be fun. Anyone thinking further than this is dead wrong. So yeah, answer is : no.
  5. Nunchucks match + 12 men/women tag match = ridiculously fun episode. The build-up to Ultima Lucha will be cool. I know it has probably been spoiled already, but I guess we're going toward Rey vs Puma, Pentagon vs Matanza, Cuerno vs Muertes for the big matches. Sounds exciting to me. And yeah, Black Lotus storyline is going on again.
  6. It sounds pretty fucking sad, infact.
  7. Typical old-timer bullshit.
  8. That's carny 2.0. Which always strikes me as a little bit pathetic. There goes my will to take some time to watch that match, because I really don't care that much, and this guy acting like an ass and doing the meta-smart-trolling act just makes the whole thing seems even more irrelevant to me.
  9. The Gawker fiasco actually made newspapers in France too. Surreal to see the face of Hogan in social/cultural magazines.
  10. I guess you're right, she was back on screen at episode 19. Hey, I'm not one to talk about ugly people, but damn, who the fuck is Daga to refuse the advances of Cobra Moon ? If anyone needs a mask, it's him (those ears, damnit !). Matanza vs Cage was a very good bomb throwing power workers match. I like the fact they didn't garbaged it up at all and kept it inside for the most part, felt very different from the Muertes matches. Cage is dubious with his selling, but he did grew on me that season (the new look helps, he doesn't look like a High Voltage tribute anymore). Matanza's legit feat of strenghts are quite awesome, I always loves that (Backlund fan). That reverse powerslam is insane, and it's not a stupid looking move unlike a lot of "creative" stuff. Thus far, Matanza has totally delivered, and I say that as someone who's never a fan of that kind of character.
  11. I can't wait until it's over. Glad I'm not living in a city center right now, I'd probably end up killing some neighbours too. Hopefully France gets eliminated quickly so I can have a coffee/beer in a quite environment again. At least weather is shitty.
  12. Yeah, that would be a surprise. Then again, he's sponsored by KC and he's a friend of Sean, so. I thought it was pretty good and pretty funny, as often with Nash. The Rock'n'Roll express timeline looks interesting to say the least, although I dread the "old jaded veteran talk" that killed some of those (Windham was pretty sad in that respect).
  13. I remember Loss' rant on Joey Ryan. No idea what the big issue with this guy is. He's a perfectly fine comedy wrestler and found a gimmick which suits him and got over doing it. Him doing the "I'm gonna press this guy" routine and failing to press Mascarita Sagrada was quite funny, as was the "big bodyslam" spot that followed. He's the best looking Jimmy Del Ray ever. That trios title match between Rey, Dragon Azteca Jr., Puma & Mundo, Black & Jack was ridiculously fun and what a crazy spotfest should be. Muertes in a glass coffin in the hunter's trophy room ? Wonderful. Now wait until he wakes up. I actually looks forward Matanza vs Cage. Another kind of Monster vs Monster match, curious to see what route they'll take on this one. What ever happened to Black Lotus BTW ? She really ended up not doing anything, sadly.
  14. Holy shit. Gotta love the heart-shape dot after the "face fuck" proposition. Dirty cute I guess.
  15. Finn is both a good toy tool (DEMON !) and a total blowjob babyface. But yeah, the Demon entrance was cool the first time I saw it then quickly went into the "you know, it's not that cool, it's actually kinda stupid" category. That was cool, although at some point I wonder how much of this is simply the fans entertaining themselves as opposed to showing support. Dunno. And the other hand, them chanting "This is awesome" about 2 seconds into the cage match is simply ridiculous. At this point, they should chant "This is starting !". Then "This is the shine !" and other "Heat control !" über-meta chants.
  16. This is infinitely more watchable than any WWE TV. The wooden announcing still hurts though. Give me life. Fun opener. La Sombra's gimmick still screams "We have no idea how to promote a supposed latino star" though. Los Boricuas outfit, really ? American Alpha vs Revival, another very good match between these two teams. They work a little fast to my taste, but maybe I'm just old. Still, Gable is a terrific worker and Revival, as generic as they look, keep this together with a nice Arn Anderson vibe. I dug the 90's Steiner outfits with awful colors. Austin Aries vs Shinsuke Nakamura, very good match too. I have no idea what Aries is upposed to be though, he's soooo from the 00's indy school of generic look * pure-sport-build. And if he's not, well, that's how he came off to me. Looks like a hipster but I couldn't figure any personnality traits. Nakamura costing is better than most. The selling was perfectly fine BTW, Aries working the leg for a minute doesn't call for hobbling around. Taking many shots to taped ribs and not making it a big deal, however, is more problematic. Still match of the night easily. Asuka vs Nia Jaxx. Ok, sorry, but it was really Asuka doing 90% of the work, running, moving, bumping and selling for Jaxx decent but unimpressive power spots. Jaxx has no aura. The fact she's got a cute makeup and awful generic r'n'b theme doesn't help, it's like her gimmick is "I'm a big girl but I'm fine with it." She looks like a servicable big girl worker without charisma at best, a sorta Eagle Sawaii if you will, or a much cuter Gary Allbright. Hell, Monster Ripper as Bertha Faye was much more scary. Asuka did a terrific job though, but it never felt anything but an exercise in teaching how do work with a green and limited opponent. Me want Asuka vs a serious opponent. Gimme Emma. The main event lost me. Fine match, but escape rules + no blood = I don't care that much. Doens't help that Balor isn't very compelling to me, but Joe looked excellent. Needed a lot more hate, grinding against the fence and shit like this. Some excellent *moments* though. Funny how, after 15 years of being irrelevant, TNA seems to be the place to come from to be acknowledged in WWE, complete with keeping your name : Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, AJ Styles, Bobby Roode. Paul Ellering doesn't look that much older from the last time he was on TV, which was probably when Hawk jumped from the Titontran. Still, the old manager gimmick never works. Considering he was last relevant around the late 80's, well, I guess it's a nice pice or wrestling trivia for the WWE Universe. These two jacked up kid look freaky. Ok, when is the NXT NXT ? Before SummerSlam ?
  17. I'm not following NXT closely at all, but I'm gonna watch this, as I do with every NXT special. Curious to see what Asuka can do with Nia Jax, who doesn't strike me as a very good nor interesting worker. The main event could be super cool if they don't do a blood stop every two minutes.
  18. And so ? Yeah, who's Steve fucking Austin to give an educated opinion about pro-wrestling. Well, eventually, I'll have to watch that match since it seems to be *da* big controversial point in "what has become of pro-wrestling ?" in 2016. Since I'm down on indy spotfest style, it's not like I'm going in with any positive pre-conception either.
  19. Agree with pretty much everything, although I did like the Fenix match better last year. Still, this had to be very different since it was a completely opposed dynamic (two monsters against each others). Dario Cueto makes every bit of "acting" in the WWE irrelevant. This is the future of pro-wrestling. Wait, maybe Vince Russo was right after all. I mean, in *theory*, as far as getting actual actors and going all the way into TV series as opposed to good ol' prowrestling. Well, except Lucha Underground is doing this while putting the wrestling matches as the focus, so yeah, not what Vinny Ru was thinking about. But hell, I want more of this, I want to go all the way, Telenovela/giallo/Turkish sitcom on my ass.
  20. LCO vs Tomoko Watanabe & Kaoru Ito, 1997. The apex of LCO's reinvention as blood-thirsty garbage brawlers, with the footstomp from death.
  21. This. Add WCW Nitro during the glory years. 90 mn is the absolute max for a weekly show. Even a 3 hour PPV seems unbearable to me now. Those two hours NXT Takeover shows were pretty much exactly what a big show should be.

    Lesnar to return to UFC

Eh, I get the reasoning. "So wrestling is fake, huh? Tell it to THIS guy." It lets them do some more Jim Ross-style bragging about the legit athletic accomplishments of their employees. In 2016 WWE ? Really ? Brock doesn't need any more of this to be *special* in the WWE. It's an old story already. He just needs good booking. Now, Brock Lesnar vs CM Punk as a UFC match, well yeah, that would be interesting in a early PRIDE bullshit big spectacle and a major finger to Vince. But anyway, this is Pro-Wrestling ONLY.
  23. For some reason, I thought he was dead already. Yep, a huge influence on pro-wrestling as far as promo goes. The Greatest.
  24. Couldn't care less about GLOW and a Netflix comed... wait ? Did you say it was produced by Jenji Kohan ? Ok, haven't seen Orange is the New Black, but I was a huge Weeds fan. So yeah, this gets my immediate interest.
