  1. They pretail by saying that no-one else puts in the time and effort that they do to be number one, as every day they are down at the gym. This is even more 80s than the previous week, very Fabulous Ones-esque, as The Thrillseekers are working out getting all sweaty in the gym to the sounds of Fast Times by Billy Squier. They return to their hotel room to see two hookers, sorry ladies, waiting for them. Jericho and Storm seem rather excited and eager to spend time with them before all four of them disappear into the same room for who knows what!
  2. Bob Caudle says as a result of what happened, a match has been signed for the Bluegrass Brawl between the Heavenly Bodies and the Rock & Roll Express. It will be held inside a steel cage with the tag team titles on the line and there has to be a winner as the losing team must leave Smoky Mountain Wrestling. We go to a Bob Armstrong taped interview that is cut almost immediately as Jim Cornette is at the interview desk demanding they get the camera back on. Cornette is in shock and it appears this is the first he has heard about it ‘they’ve signed a match between the Heavenly Bodies and Rock & Roll Express where the losers of the match have to leave Smoky Mountain Wrestling?’ He states that Bob Armstrong is behind this, he’s been on him since day one and has always been against his men. He did this to him a year ago and is sick and tired of it, it’s a conspiracy. Prichard says that Bob Armstrong, Smoky Mountain Wrestling and the Rock & Roll Express only have one thing on their minds and that is to undermine Jim Cornette and the Heavenly Bodies, it doesn’t matter though because they’ve beaten them every time and can beat them this time too. Cornette says that all the Rock & Rolls have done is sign their death warrant, last time they got one over on him when they got rid of Stan Lane, but this time it’s them and the Bodies inside a cage. They’re trying to get them out of here as they are the only ones they are afraid of but it isn’t going to work, as 4/1 at the Bluegrass Brawl, it’ll be the day he’s longed for, the day he’s hoped for, the day he’s wished for, it’ll be the day the music died as the Rock & Roll Express will finally be out of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Great stuff!
  3. Does anyone know if the full card of Bluegrass Brawl '94 is in circulation and available at all? I've got a handheld of the ladder match and loser leaves town cage match but that's it.
  4. Mike Furnas has turned up in my Smoky Mountain Wrestling viewing and is awful. By some fluke he is now 'Beat the Champ' TV champion, and even limiting the length of his matches and with his offense primarily consisting of a shoulderblock, he is the worst wrestler to show up in that territory by some way.
  5. Del Ray busts out a Splash Mountain on Blaze during this although the landing didn’t look the smoothest, whilst the faces get the win after a double dropkick to Kyle. Blaze is hurt on the outside and the Bodies and Kyle attack the Rock & Rolls after the match. Cornette splits Morton’s head open after a nasty looking racket shot and then gives him one to the throat for good measure too. Larry Santo, Pat Rose, Anthony Michaels (‘what’s he coming out for he got beat by a woman’ quips Dutch, as he got 'pinned' by Tammy Fytch earlier on in the show), The Hornet and Robbie Eagle all come to try and help but are kept at bay by Kyle and the racket swinging Cornette. Robert is trapped upside down and helpless in the corner whilst they continue to beat on Ricky who is a bloody mess at this point. Vegematic on to Morton then out comes Tracey Smothers and Tony Anthony for the save just as the show goes off air. I was wondering what this match was doing on the Yearbook as it was nothing special, but this was all about the post-match and beat down on the Rock & Rolls which was excellent. There hasn’t been any blood on TV for quite some time and seeing Ricky get busted wide open really added to the visual here.
  6. Murdoch is the happiest man on the face of the earth because he didnt know Christmas would come around a second time so soon! He was sat at home in Texas the other day when his phone rang, and this time it wasnt George Bush or Ronald Reagan, it was Mama Cornette offering him a lot of money to come back to Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Shes paying him a tremendous amount to protect her little Jimmy and once he gives his word you can bank on it. He tells Bob Armstrong to look over his shoulder, look round the corner, under your car and in your closets as there is no way of telling where hes going to show up. He promised Mama Cornette that he was going to take care of Jimmy and make sure that nothing happens to him. Armstrong needs to get it out of his head about hurting him or laying a finger on him and hell see him in the very near future. I know the purpose for bringing Murdoch back, but this feels like a retread so soon after Christmas Chaos. I'm really struggling with the whole Armstrong vs Cornette feud now, though don't think it'll be ending anytime soon.
  7. Lance is adhering to those wrestler stereotypes with his dyed rats tail, zubaz and fanny pack whilst Jericho is wearing an almost cowboy like black jacket with tassels! Before they get into the business of wrestling its time for them to let off a bit of steam! Letting off a bit of steam consists of riding dodgem cars, ice skating, feeding a bear, going to the arcade, bungee jumping, taking a helicopter ride and horse riding whilst the throws of Rock America by Danger Danger plays over the top. The Thrillseekers will rock America! Despite this being incredibly 80s I Iiked it and you can clearly see that Jericho is very athletic just from the activities that they get up to.
  8. ‘I am John Bobbit and what are you doing with that knife?’ It was announced earlier in the week that Smoky Mountain Wrestling had signed, according to experts, ‘one of the greatest teams of all time and more than likely, the team of the 90s’, The Thrillseekers, Chris Jericho and Lance Storm. We go to footage of that signing and all the SMW officials and dignitaries like Sandy Scott, Tim Horner, Mark Curtis and Pam Lawson are there, whilst The Thrillseekers are sat at the table alongside Dutch Mantel and Bob Armstrong. It’s a proud moment for Armstrong to have The Thrillseekers in SMW, as to come here they’ve had to vacate the tag team titles that they held in Canada. This is their first venture into the United States and from the film that he’s seen, he thinks they’re the hottest team to come along in the last 20 years. Storm says SMW is the most tag team rich promotion in the world twith the likes of the Rock & Roll Express and the Heavenly Bodies and that’s why they are happy to be here, so they can prove themselves against the best and show everyone that they are the tag team of the future. The Thrillseekers and Armstrong sign the contract and the deal is finalised (to rapturous applause from the SMW officials). This is the first time that they’ve ever done a contract signing for newcomers so they clearly had big things planned for them (especially when you consider Well Dunn debuted on the same TV show to no such fanfare). I would’ve preferred a music video in there somewhere showcasing them and some of their high spots, as this talk of ‘greatest tag team of all time’ reeked of hyperbole.
  9. The Bodies are scheduled to face Dave Meltzer & Wade Keller but it's not them at all, it’s the Rock & Roll Express. Good fast paced TV match that I was going to call very good until the unsatisfactory finish. The match has the added storyline of Ricky Morton trying to get his hands on Cornette who is back to his usual cowardly, weasel like ways, as opposed to the man who was standing tall and getting involved with the Steiners and the Bruise Brothers. All four men are fighting in the ring and Cornette sneaks in about to whack Robert in the back with his tennis racket. Morton sees him coming, grabs the racket and then hits Prichard and Del Ray with it right in front of the referees eyes, giving the Bodies the DQ win. It did feel a tad rushed putting this match on TV just a week after the injunction angle and one of the strengths in the Smoky Mountain booking has been to build things slowly and not rush them. With Sunday Bloody Sunday being just over a week away there didn't appear to be any need for this match, whilst similar you could say that it wasn't hate filled enough for to guys who were out for revenge after what Cornette did to Morton's father.
  10. Dutch opens by recapping the Dirty White Boy and Killer Kyle match from last week and all the post-match action. Back on Down & Dirty and the White Boy informs everyone that they have some tape from the master of the Tennessee chain match, the legendary Mr Ron Wright and he would like everyone to see it. Ron’s had his surgery and hip implant and is back walking and as mean as ever. The last time people saw him on TV he had been drugged pretty heavy and made a stupid mistake getting into the ring trying to help the Dirty White Boy and he had his brains knocked out. On 2/13 it’s going to be the bloodiest Sunday in the history of wrestling as they’re going to have a chain match with the SMW Heavyweight title at stake between Brian Lee and the Dirty White Boy. The people have seen him wrestle in 100’s of them over the years against the likes of Whitey Caldwell, Sputnik Monroe and Tommy Gilbert and have never seen him lose one. He’s had the White Boy in training that you won’t believe for the last two months and when he gets through with them he’ll see that both Brian Lee and Tammy Fytch are carried out of there. The White Boy is looking forward to Sunday Bloody Sunday. Brian Lee has done a lot of things to him; he’s screwed him out of $20,000, he put Ron Wright in the hospital, he’s bust his head open on a number of occasions and he’s put his hands on the Dirty White Girl. All that is coming to a screeching halt 2/13 at the Knoxville Coliseum in the chain match, and there is no way he’s going to lose with Ron Wright in his corner. He will walk out of that match the SMW Heavyweight champion, and that’s a promise. Two great interviews and nice to see Wright cutting a face promo (which needless to say he excels in as much as he does when cutting a heel one). The White Boy has cut one excellent promo after another since turning so this didn't seem anything overly special to me, just a continuation of the goodness that he has been bringing for the last few months.
  11. Terry & Dory are going to Knoxville, but what does it smell like? It smells like butt crack, USA. What does that smell like? That smells like cheap wine, unholy women, illegal politicians and fear; fear that seeps out of every pore of Bob Armstrong. He warns him not to have his family try to come and help him, as Dory will not only be protecting Jim Cornette, but he will be keeping an eye out for all those illegitimate fools, idiots, perverts and pukes that he claims are sired from him. He fears no evil, fears no-one and doesn’t fear any of those fools who’ll be at ringside because unlike that ice skaters husband who failed, he’ll have his branding iron with him and will take out their legs. Dory wakes from his slumber to repeat himself from last week’s interview and go over the rules of the Texas death match again. Very similar to the previous week's interview and Dory genuinely comes across that he has no idea what's going on or where he is!
  12. Both teams are busting out all sorts of hot moves but the crowd couldn’t care less and are treating this as a food break. Jimmy Del Ray with an Asai moonsault, leg drop/trash compactor off the top rope, Ricky Morton reverses a powerbomb into a frankensteiner, Del Ray with a moonsault body block and nothing, while Jim Ross is doing all he can on commentary. Prichard throws Morton over the top rope to the floor and Gibson thinks that’s a DQ but they’re not in Smoky Mountain now (which is nicely explained by Ross). Double dropkick to Prichard but he kicks out and Cornette is up on the apron only to get nailed by Morton. Gibson covers Prichard again but referee Joey Marella is distracted as he’s trying to get Morton out of the ring. Del Ray climbs to the top turnbuckle, Cornette throws him the racket (great catch!) and he comes off the top with the racket onto Gibson. Prichard makes the cover and we have new SMW tag team champions.
  13. Jim Cornette’s been waiting a long time for this Texas death match at Sunday Bloody Sunday between Terry Funk and The Bullet, otherwise known as Bob Armstrong, and there’s a lot riding on it, but instead of him telling everyone about it he’s got some comments from Terry Funk. Funk has his brother Dory with him (and he’s wearing a rather dashing gold top hat!) and he’s coming to Knoxville to wrestle Bob Armstrong in a Texas death match. He asks Dory to explain the rules to everyone and he tells them that falls don’t count there could be one or one hundred, there’s no stopping the match for any reason, falls can take place anywhere, and most importantly there is no stopping the match for blood. If the people don’t like blood he suggests they don’t look towards the ring as Bob Armstrong’s blood will be splattered all over Knoxville. The last man standing will be the winner and that’s going to be his brother, the King of the Texas death match! Dory will be at ringside for the match, not to interfere, but to protect Jim Cornette from all of Bob Armstrong’s illegitimate relatives. Terry says that he knows all about Knoxville as on a windy day he can smell it from Texas. It smells like butt crack, Tennessee and it smells like fear. What kind of fear does it smell like? It smells like death. Is it Bob Armstrong shaking under his covers because the Funks are coming? He and his brother have a date in Knoxville. Cornette is laughing and very happy in the studio, Terry Funk is the King of the Texas death match, he’s had a million of them and knows all the ins and outs. Bob Caudle wants to hear from The Bullet though and they go to a video interview from him. The Bullet says that since he signed this contract to wrestle Terry Funk in a Texas death match everybody has been calling him saying that he’s made a mistake, the man’s never been beaten. Although he’s beaten Bob Armstrong he’s not beaten The Bullet. Jim Cornette has bought in some big guns but somehow he’s found a way around them and he’s still here, fighting for Bob Armstrong’s spot as Commissioner. He knows he’s going to run out of body parts before Jim Cornette’s mama runs out of money, so let’s get it all done in on night, once and for all. Back in the studio and Cornette says that he’s waited a long time and is going to make the most of this. He knows he can’t hurt Bob Armstrong or injure him so bad that he won’t want to come back, he’s tried; but how do you harm a prideful man? You hit him in his pride. All the people who have supported him for 25 years, all his family, friends and fans will watch him kiss the feet of Jim Cornette and if he wants to get out of doing that, he must beat Terry Funk in a Texas death match, and that’s something that no man can do. Great stuff on the mic as always when these guys are involved and when it comes to setting up everything.
  14. Awesome music video set to Little Miss Can't Be Wrong by the Spin Doctors. Primarily all about Tammy Fytch and I like how they try to match the lyrics to the clips they play of her. First saw this years ago on an RF shoot interview with Fytch and Missy, thought it was fantastic then and it's even better now seeing it all in context.
  15. Coraluzzo is at the Hall of Records in Pennsylvania to prove that Chris Candido is correct in what he’s been saying all along, and that Tracey Smothers is really Vito Maranara from Schulkill Haven, PA. His ‘associate’ Vinny shows up and hands Coraluzzo something, purportedly to be Smothers’ birth certificate to prove that he’s not from Tennessee in the slightest. Vinny asks for his payment and we bear witness to some of the worst acting you could imagine from Coraluzzo when Vinny tells him it’s $50 he owes him. Coraluzzo struggles to get together $50 and tries to use his watch as collateral to help pay him. A policeman’s whistle blows, Vinny does a runner and Coraluzzo tells the officers which direction he went. This was an awful segment with dreadful acting from all involved and a terrible storyline. The Candido - Smothers feud doesn’t need this nonsense at all, especially as they have been trying to turn Candido into a more serious heel as opposed to a jokey one.
  16. Dutch starts by recapping and taking a look at the incident that happened last week with Paul Morton (he was supposed to be a surpise visitor for Ricky bought in by Robert as the two hadn't seen each other for a while, but ran into the Heavenly Bodies in the dressing room and it ended with Cornette throwing Drano in his eyes). Back on Down & Dirty, and Dutch says a lot of people think Jim Cornette crossed the line last week. Cornette says who cares about that old fossil? He’s a bald headed, nothing happening goof! He’s 124 years old and was a big deal before electricity. He claims that Paul Morton tried to assault him, he put his hands on him first and tried to press charges but they wouldn’t take his statement. He showed him who he was messing with though, as when he struck him he knocked him straight back down. Tom Prichard interrupts and says that he was the one who knocked him down, at which point Cornette corrects himself to say that he was the one who kicked him when he was down! Paul Morton got what he deserved, he started it. The SMW Board of Directors have now added a tag title match against the Rock & Roll Express for Sunday Bloody Sunday, so not only do the Heavenly Bodies have to face the Furnas Brothers, they also have to take on the Rock & Rolls. It’s not fair, but they figure that’s the only way that they will be able to beat the Heavenly Bodies. All this talk of Paul Morton though, people need not worry, he’s okay and here today. Cornette introduces him and it is in fact Jimmy Del Ray doing his best Stevie Wonder impression complete with shades, cane and head swaying! As he continues to insult and make fun of Morton the Rock & Rolls run out and try to get at Cornette but he runs off out of their way.
  17. Bob Caudle says that Van Horn has talked about Prince Kharis for weeks and weeks, but he’s yet to see him and he doesn’t think any of the fans have seen him on TV either (guessing Thanksgiving Thunder against Tim Horner has been quietly forgotten about!). Van Horn says everybody in the Smoky Mountain area is going to be in for a big treat as Prince Kharis will make his debut on SMW TV next week. He held him back for a few weeks as these people weren’t worthy of seeing him, but when he comes out here he wants to make sure all these Smoky Mountain crackers give him a reception worthy of an Egyptian Prince, worthy of a holy man. He is the High Priest of the Temple of the Sun, and if these idiots don’t believe him read it in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, the book that tells you the true mysteries of the Universe, that solves all the enlightenment problems in the world; unlike that other pack of fairy tales these idiots read on Sunday! In just a short while Prince Kharis is going to start letting the blood of the Nile fill the arenas in the Smoky Mountain area, screw your wigs on tight and get ready for the reign of Prince Kharis. Think this is the first time Van Horn has appeared on the Yearbook's and his delivery from his debut interview has been first class. I certainly agree with the comments about saying 'shocking' things gets tired really quick (in one interview he talks about his lawyers in Libido & Cleavage, and the whole purpose just appeared to be so he could say those words on TV), and Prince Kharis is hardly La Momia from Titanes. No idea what Cornette was thinking at all with this gimmick and I think Van Horn could've been put too much better use than here. Interesting to see how long he is around for as I doubt Kharis will be around for long.
  18. Cornette’s just come out of a meeting with the Board of Directors and is a happy guy. A couple of weeks back The Bullet, who everyone knows is Bob Armstrong, made a little offer that if he could have a match where Bob Armstrong could be Commissioner again, he’d do anything else he asked, would face any challenger and would do so under any stipulation. He had a think about it and his close personal friend Harry White, who is on the Board of Directors now, assisted him in the process. First of all he had to choose an opponent, and while he has access to those who are under contract to the WWF, the one man who Bob Armstrong has never defeated is Terry Funk, and Terry Funk will do anything for the right price (especially for a good friend like him). As for the stipulations, he thought long and hard about it and came up with something that would hurt Bob Armstrong worse than anything else. If Terry Funk beats The Bullet, then The Bullet must take off his mask and show his face to everyone in the Coliseum and he must leave Smoky Mountain Wrestling forever. However before he does so, he must get on his hands and knees, and in front of the fans that have supported him for the last 25 years, any family members he cares to brings, friends, the wrestlers and the photographers, crawl across the ring and kiss Jim Cornette’s feet. Great, gloating promo from Cornette and I had no idea about the idea of putting Watts into the Commissioner's role.
  19. Please, please tell more. Please, don't encourage him!
  20. Isn't that the case and my god is he such a strong face promo as well! Didn't know what the song was for this so cheers Kevin. Just the Dirty White Boy kicking a lot of ass and throwing his awesome right hand as he goes.
  21. He’s out with his lady friend looking at houses, although the woman is a bit concerned about whether they’re going to pay him enough to be able to afford one. He tells her not to worry about is as when Mama Cornette calls him she pays him, when Mama Cornette tells the big man to come there’s money on the line, and all for just going to Tennessee to whip Bob Armstrong. The only other person Mama Cornette calls to get things done is her son, but when she wants a man’s job done she calls the big man, Captain Redneck! They find a house they like and Murdoch tells Armstrong to get ready because this is their Christmas present and when Mama Cornette calls and offers him the money, he gets on Delta Airlines and goes where he is needed. Bob Armstrong may be fooling all those hillbillies in Tennessee because he’s under a mask, but when Jim Cornette called him, told him and asked him if he was interested in coming? Bingo, he’s on his way and Armstrong’s days are numbered. These segments have been really fun and especially like Murdoch referring to himself as ‘the big man’.
  22. I didn't compare them direct, but I thought this was a repeat of the Personality Profile they did for Smothers back in December 1992 (12/19 episode to be precise). If not a repeat, it's very, very similar
  23. The Bruise Brothers interfere in a Rock & Roll Express vs Moondogs match allowing the Rock & Rolls to hit the double dropkick and then get the win. After the match Cornette gets on the mic and says that they’re not going to stand for that and if the Bruise Brothers want some of the Moondogs come face them now. The brothers don’t need a second invitation and it’s not long before they’re back out and the fight is on. Cornette powders one of the twins and the three of them go to work on them with numerous weapon shots. Cornette is getting in as many shots as the Dogs, while Spot clobbers Mark Curtis with a ‘stop’ sign. This stuff is already coming off as tired and boring, the beat down seemed to go too long and there was way too much involvement from Cornette.
  24. I worried about appearing out of my depth for ages on here but now I just sit back and take in as much as I can and contribute where I feel like I can. That's what its all about. No-one should ever worry about feeling out of depth with Judy Bagwell here and their unfunny attempts at 'humour'.
  25. Dutch has some comments from The Bullet which he wants to play before hearing from Jim Cornette. The Bullet says that it’s just a few days away until he gets a chance to prove to everyone that he can beat Dick Murdoch, can take Jim Cornette’s money and most of all, can take his hair. He’s going to honour his contract and if he loses he’s going to take off the mask, and if he is Bob Armstrong, he’s history. If he wins though, he’s going to have every Armstrong in the country and every fan of his in Knoxville to make sure that Cornette honours his end of the deal, even if that means they have to surround the ring and make sure he doesn’t leave until he has been shaved bald. Back on Down & Dirty and Cornette doesn’t want to hear these ‘baldy’ chants, but wants to hear some comments from a real man, Dick Murdoch, who he’s had to have his mother buy a house for in order to stop this carnage on Christmas night in Knoxville. Murdoch is in a restaurant bar with a woman drinking another Coors Light. It’s going to cost Mama Cornette a lot of money over the holidays as he’s flying in at great expense to come and whip one of those inbred, nothing happening, melon farming, Tennessee heroes in Bob Armstrong. He knows Armstrong and his snotty nosed kids well. There’s Brad, who whimpers every time he gets whipped and that other one who was in the marines and fought in Desert Storm, the one who got all his medals by shooting unarmed Iraqi’s. He’s gutless just like his old man! He’s going to drink his beer, have a good time, watch the snow fall and get ready for the holiday season when he’ll be coming to Tennessee to whip Bob Armstrong like a step child. Smoky Mountain Wrestling is probably the only promotion not under federal indictment at the moment as they run a legitimate company, but after Christmas, Mama Cornette, JC and himself are going to buy it, run it and make a lot of money! We again return to Down & Dirty and both Dutch and Cornette are still trying to get the crowd to calm down, ‘don’t make me turn him loose’ warns Dutch as he is holding Cornette back from them. Cornette says he agreed to put up $5,000 of his mother’s money against The Bullet at Christmas Chaos if The Bullet would put his mask up. He bought in Dick Murdoch to beat him so that he will have to take off that mask and Bob Armstrong will then be banished forever, but Smoky Mountain Wrestling slipped something in the contract that he signed, contract tampering if you will, and added a clause that in Knoxville on Christmas night it will be his hair at stake. After all the things he’s done to Bob Armstrong he knows that the final revenge and humiliation he could heap on him would be to beat Dick Murdoch and then shave his head in the middle of the ring. He guarantees Bob Armstrong that he will do anything, will take any measure and will pay any price to see that Dick Murdoch beats him, reveals his identity and gets him banished from SMW for life. Dutch is very funny here sucking up to Cornette as he has a tendency to do.
