  1. So the story goes he didn't tell his wife about it. So imagine that. Shoot, I missed it.
  2. I think it's cute that in WWE you can't hit someone in the head with a chair but you can beat someone's brains in with a wrench or tire iron.
  3. When I saw it initially I thought the Austin-Triple H "3 Stages of Hell" match was incredible. I haven't seen it since and this thread has me wondering if I'm going to like it at all.
  4. I caught the last half of the show so it looks like I'll have to seek out the "WeeLC" match. I like the Bad News Barrett character for some reason and I'm interested to see where they go with it. I just have zero interest in the Wyatt characters and the Cena feud does nothing for me. I was intrigued by Cena's opening promo on Monday's "Raw" but it seems more like this feud will go the traditional route with "Super Cena" eventually beating all three members. I loved the Shield vs. Evolution match and I imagine it was a lot of fun to watch live. It's sort of funny that Batista has been pretty much a high-paid jobber during his brief return. The guy who won the Royal Rumble getting beaten clean in two straight PPV main events and we're supposed to take Evolution seriously? There's one guy the crowd wants to see eat a pinfall from the Shield and I wonder if they'll get to see it. The main event was too long and seemed like WWE trying to recreate an "Attitude era" match to get Daniel Bryan over as more than just a wrestler. I have no desire to see this feud continue beyond a "Raw' rematch and even that I don't want to see. What I saw seemed like a fun card and worth the ten bucks I paid for the Network but I would have been disappointed had I paid more for it.
  5. Thanks for the insight. This was something I wondered myself for years.
  6. Geography and vocabulary, as others have mentioned. I was 10 during Bob Backlund's heel run in the 90s and he made me want to expand my vocabulary. I also remember thinking Vince McMahon was such a powerful, intelligent speaker that I wanted to be like him. When he told Owen Hart that it only took six weeks for a broken bone to heal I for some reason thought he was a fount of knowledge. Thanks to PWI and the Monday night wars I learned quite a bit of how the business of television worked. God help me, I thought wrestlers knew how to dress back then, too.
  7. Is this why the photos from WWF events in those mags always seemed to be shot from about a hundred yards away from the ring?
  8. As NintendoLogic said, I think as long as they have a prescription for something they can get around any positive test. Testosterone and HGH seem to be the big things these days. It seems so many male athletes are in need of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and HGH is said to be impossible to detect in a urinalysis.
  9. I've had no problem with either VOD or live streaming on my Kindle Fire (the old one, not the HD).
  10. I'll be watching at a friend's party. We're going to watch on the PlayStation but if it crashes we're prepared to order the HD PPV telecast. I'm very interested to see what happens with Daniel Bryan. I'm not terribly excited by the rest of the card but I get sucked in to the spectacle every year.
  11. I posted about this a few years ago and I'll mention it again: I never thought the Rock-Steve Austin WrestleMania XVII match was very good. For me it was just a bunch of punching between hitting each wrestler's signature moves over and over again. By this point I had gotten tired of the WWF making almost every PPV main event no-disqualification to make up for the fact that their top stars could only work one type of match and I really didn't like that Vince McMahon and a chair were the finish of a second consecutive WrestleMania.
  12. This had me laughing pretty hard.
  13. I actually found this: http://droptoehold.com/post/39681525289/wwe-security-dotson
  14. I agree. I don't post as often as I used to but I come here for the intelligent wrestling discussion and appreciate the different perspectives of the regular posters. I'd prefer not to have to sift through some clowns killing time auditioning their new message board gimmicks.
  15. I was pretty sure I saw Sgt. Slaughter, too.

    Current WWE

Is Ziggler really over because he has the "eye of the tiger" or because he plays a cocky character? Fans seem to eat up cocky characters and modern fans seem to think bumping yourself into a few concussions makes you a great worker. From what I've seen I think he's just another Billy Gunn. I really don't get why he's so popular. For that matter, I don't get why Zack Ryder is popular, either.
  17. I asked for--and got--a VHS copy of WrestleMania III. It was the WWF Home Video release with all the original music and it didn't appear to have any edits. I know that was my dad because he would search high and low to find something his kids asked for.
  18. Whenever I see this thread bumped I think Flair tried to rip someone else off is all.
  19. Whatever it was it pissed my parents off because they thought four PPVs a year was bad enough.
  20. This is exactly my timeline. I was obsessed with everything wrestling since about 1987 (I was four) to the point my dad was taping whatever promotions came on ESPN late at night to watch with me after school. Around 2003 I started losing interest in most of the characters and the angles and I can't really figure out why. I used to be a big fan of Triple H but his dominating the top of the card and working slow, plodding matches with everyone was getting boring. When they started going with Randy Orton and JBL I just gave up. I still tune in now and then whenever I have absolutely nothing else to do. I did watch the Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam in their entirety this year. Once I saw that the Daniel Bryan storyline was going to turn into another Triple H vs Shawn Michaels angle I threw in the towel altogether on the current product.
  21. When I was a young, aspiring professional wrestler I wrote to Roland asking about some specifics of wrestling training. He was kind enough to write a personal letter back and give me some recommendations. He was one of the few who didn't just send me back a flyer or an order form to buy a pamphlet.
  22. I'm so watching this taking a drink every time Roma says "fuck". I got wasted during the trailer.
  23. Oh, and as for the Undertaker's involvement? My guess is Vince wanted to feed another monster to Hogan and get the belt off Hogan in a screwy way. He wasn't ready to obliterate Undertaker by having Hogan demolish him and it freed up the belt so Flair could win it.
  24. I think the idea of "co-main events" were because Vince wasn't quite sure he could move away from his established stars and give someone else top billing. As for the Tuesday in Texas card I've read in several places it was Vince's first attempt at running PPV cards more regularly since live attendance was dropping. I don't remember if the Tuesday in Texas event was a trial run for weekly or monthly cards. I know the original plan for Shotgun Saturday Night was to be a weekly PPV show. What I find interesting is that Vince seems to have a hard time letting go of established talent, even when they aren't drawing anymore, yet on the Rock's latest DVD he has a quote about there being a time when you have to "let the kids grow up and move out".
  25. This is great for Mike Tenay since he's a big fan of Smashing Pumpkins.
