  1. On this set they leave in Triple-H calling Chris Jericho "that sawed-off midget!"
  2. I noticed that on the VHS box set of WrestleMania the WWF released in 1998 that all the commercial music is left in ("Easy Lover," "Sirius," "Who's Zoomin' Who?," etc.) Was this just some huge oversight by WWF Legal or was there a long-term contract for this stuff? I have an original home video of WrestleMania I and there is absolutely no commercial music on it.
  3. Just finished watching this set today. I thought this was underwhelming. The match with Kane I can only guess is there because he's still with the company and they want new fans to see him working with Rock? Of course there's a lot that could have been added but I've gotten used to WWE fumbling the match listings on DVDs. The promos featured on the third disc reminded me that Rock's character came across as an insecure asshole for most of his face run.
  4. However well-booked the invasion angle could have been likely wouldn't have worked as the fans didn't want those WCW wrestlers. They wouldn't accept anyone other than the stars of late-90s Nitro.
  5. Sek, I'm sure some of it is because Rock isn't around to make wrestling mainstream anymore.
  6. I guess I could say the worst part of this decade was that almost everyone WWE tried to push up to the top tier either quit, died, or killed their family.
  7. I can't think of much as this was the decade that I finally tuned out of professional wrestling though I did really enjoy the Triple-H versus Chris Jericho last man standing match from Fully Loaded 2000.
  8. Even funnier is he's pretty concise in his Yahoo! Sports UFC blog. Perhaps he has an editor there?

    What if...

I wouldn't say that Eddie Gilbert has been considered a great one, has he? Growing up I read a lot of praise for Gilbert in the Apter mags. I think that's the only place I've ever seen him mentioned as a potential great.
  10. So is the main event of WrestleMania going to be Triple-H vs. John Cena again or a Sheamus-Cena-Hunter triple-threat?

    What if...

I don't get it. I'd heard of this match before so I just watched it for the first time. Looked like both men were cooperating and then suddenly Brody stopped selling. Was there something I'm not aware of?
  12. I get a feeling sometimes that the WO staff really, really think that MMA stars either should be or are the biggest stars on the planet.
  13. Beginning in the fall of 2001 Angle started to look more and more like a guy who didn't care for his opponent as long as he looked good. Didn't he and his wife get very upset that Rob Van Dam didn't pull his kicks during their feud?

    What if...

I thought Vince wanted to take Hulk vs. Zeus all the way to WrestleMania VI?
  15. Something that occurred to me this afternoon: Back at the 2001 WCW Greed PPV card Buff Bagwell and Lex Luger lost in seconds to Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire. I remember some on the Internet being outraged by this, saying Buff and Lex deserved to be fired. What the hell happened?
  16. Wrestlers stick around until they are 70. There are many willing to take insane bumps for little to no money. The business doesn't draw in the most stable people. A lot of them can't resist the comfort of drugs.
  17. WWE listed his termination so as to distance themselves from the death as much as possible. The mainstream press is only going to visit WWE's Web site for information. It's an effort to prevent him from being listed as a current WWE performer.
  18. I think Flair has a beer gut and Hulk has a GH gut.

    John O'Neill

I've seen Flair a few times outside of the ring including one time at one of our local 24 Hour Fitness gyms. He does not care for the fans, even the polite ones. Also, "born-again" Shawn Michaels is very, very much the same as he used to be.
  20. I had completely forgotten about this. Thank you for making my day!
  21. This post got me thinking, How come Vince hasn't had a sudden, massive heart attack yet?
  22. WWE's likely thought is that these celebrity appearances will get them mentioned on programs like E! News or Access Hollywood.
  23. Advertisers have really become the "Big Brother" in modern-day America. Everything is dictated by what advertisers will tolerate. A local radio talk show was recently castrated into doing a three-hour apology to transgender people for an offhand joke because Chipotle pulled their spots.
  24. WCW Bash at the Beach 1994, Steve Austin is wrestling Ricky Steamboat. Steamboat knocks Austin off the apron and onto the arena floor. Bobby Heenan: "Okay, now they should give him a twenty-minute rest." Tony Schiavone: "Yeah. [long pause] A what?
  25. The hate stems from WWE's insistence that if someone makes a pop culture reference through an obviously forced smile the audience will find them that much cooler. That may work on the small percentage of fans who are really oblivious to the world around them--those that take those "Did You Know?" graphics as fact--yet there is a greater percentage of fans who see right through this stuff. Remember, this is the wrestling promotion that trots out Kid Rock and Motley Crue years after their glory days and has tried for over ten years to make you believe Michael Cole is hip.
