Loss
Unless something else on this set tops it, this is the best thing Road Dogg has ever been part of in his life! Tremendous old school tag match that goes to a time-limit draw. It's built around destroying Jamie Dundee's knee, with Smothers and Armstrong doing all sorts of nasty things and working really stiff. The post-match brawl has almost every heel in the promotion ganging up on PG-13 and Smothers gets in some brutal flagpole shots on Dundee's knee. Very good match, great segment. Kronos
Yup, I am continuing to love every bit of the Memphis on this set. This is the best match yet, with great selling of the leg injury. I know Resident Evil was talking about how Stevie R supposedly came out of that Sabu match looking tough, but this is how you sell toughness. JC Ice has his leg worked for almost 15 min, and all he has to do is tap out at the end. But he doesn't because he's a wiry little bastard who will not give up even in nasty pain. Great run in brawl. All these guys (esp Gilbert and the PG13 boys) remind me of Todd from Beavis & Butthead.
Jack_Briscoe_Is_My_Hero
Out of every body part to work over I have to say watching leg work is my favorite. Smothers some sort of Figure 8 leg lock on never seen anything like that before. Unless he just didn't apply the figure 4 correctly. I do agree with the toughness aspect, if you don't respect both members of PG-13 after this performance you never will. Between JC Ice surviving through intense pain, or Wolfie D going through the first half of the match along it was all awesome. I do like how Gilbert runs in does some damage then sprints out like a rat. Good use of his run-in.
fishbaugh
Some of the USWA vs. SMW stuff was good, but this might be the best that Road Dogg has been a part of. JC Ice with the ludicrous purple hat before the match was fantastic, and by not giving up he comes out looking like such a badass. Really good segment that continues multiple feuds, something Memphis is really good at.
Kevin Ridge
Smothers looks strange with the pants. The broadcast table has got really small. I get a kick out of when the heels do the clap hands to pretend they made the tag when they could have just reach over and made the tag anyways. Just being assholes if anything. Strong TV studio match.
soup23
I agree with everyone else that this was a good tv match given a lot of time to develop. Jesse looks to have more indication of how to put a match together here than with the NAO when he was mostly clamoring to the fans. Good finishing brawl making up for the time limit draw too. Memphis has been pretty basic stuff so far in 1996 but highly effective. (**3/4)
PeteF3
Memphis is somehow getting hotter, even as the promotion was decaying in the face of the Monday Night Wars (they were forced to switch the MSC shows to Wednesdays around this time). Wolfie D busts out a slingshot huracanrana to the floor in one of the wilder spots ever seen in the WMC studios, but with JC Ice coming in with a bum leg, the heels (with some help from Doug Gilbert) focus on that. They repeatedly figure four JC, but he manages to hold out and force a draw. A bunch of heels gang up on PG-13 and Brian Christopher afterward, including Koko B. Ware still in goofy High Energy gear. tim
Good TV match. Wolfie D's apron hurricanrana was a cool, unexpected spot; and I also loved it being proceeded by Armstrong selling a face bump off the apron after going over the top for a clothesline. The leg work was good and Dundee survives it to the time limit draw. Wild post-match brawl is cool. Good stuff.
