Loss Posted December 19, 2010 Author Report Posted December 19, 2010 "Doritos? Eating disorder?" This is way better than the last one. Scorpio does a promo talking about the greatness of having a good woman and asks his baby to come here for a kiss, and of course it's the ECW TV title. Perry Saturn shaves his head while Tommy Dreamer burns a candle and lets the wax drip onto his fist. And Cactus Jack cuts perhaps the funniest promo of his life about Mikey Whipwreck and Doritos, Leonard Cohen, and the satanic music of Ozzy Osbourne. Raven is soooo useless. Quote
Strummer Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 can the case now be made that Vince McMahon was right about Raven all along? 10-12 years ago it would be considered ridiculous but history hasn't been kind to him Quote
Loss Posted December 20, 2010 Author Report Posted December 20, 2010 I think we can safely say Vince was right about his talent level. But I'll be curious when we get to 1997-1998 if he's as over as I remember him being. Because even if he wasn't any good, if he was capable of getting over, then I guess he had some value. Quote
Strummer Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Yeah I really liked a lot of his promos and his character fit right in with the grunge/slacker era of the mid 90s. And between Vince predicting this and insinuating all along that Eric Bischoff really had no clue about wrestling maybe he isn't completely full of shit all the time Quote
Victator Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 I thought Vince hated Raven because of how he left the WWF in 95? Quote
Jkeats Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I think we can safely say Vince was right about his talent level. But I'll be curious when we get to 1997-1998 if he's as over as I remember him being. Because even if he wasn't any good, if he was capable of getting over, then I guess he had some value. I think his real peak (and the whole company's really) is 95-96. By the time they got to ppv, the best days of ECW were far behind them. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Cactus referring to his eating disorder is hilarious. Shane Douglas is back! I miss Johnny Polo. Saturn shaves off his stupid hair do. Smart move. Quote
PeteF3 Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 Raven introduces us to his newly won ECW World title, as well as Kimona Wanalaya. Tommy Dreamer responds with a candle metaphor. Cactus delivers his famous Doritos promo, attacking Mikey for not appreciating the beauty of fall foliage, for replacing his Leonard Cohen tape with the Satanic ritual music of Ozzy Osbourne, and of course for leaving Doritos in the car. Shane Douglas is back, thank goodness. JT Smith regales us with some Dean Martin. Bill Alfonso's teeth yell at us. The Pitbulls threaten the Eliminators...again. The Gangstas make their return, featuring an actual speaking role for Mustafa. Every time Raven tried to show Beulah his pain, she faked it. Raven whines about society before talking about what a loving, compassionate guy he is. 2 Cold Scorpio loves a good woman, and brings in his latest--the ECW TV title belt. All the hos is for 2 Cold! The Pitbulls threaten the Eliminators...again. The Eliminators respond...again. Saturn shaves off the rest of his hair. Quote
soup23 Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 One of the better Pulp Fictions I have seen. It advanced storylines and had the zaniness of mixing in humor with whackiness that fit the overall vibe of what they were trying for. Cactus promo with the Doritos line is still funny to his day. tim Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 I usually find myself tuning out of these ECW pulp fictions when they're on the set but this one I enjoyed. Cactus' and 2 Cold's promos were funny. Insane 2 Cold didn't become a bigger star -- had the ring skills, had the charisma, could talk. Quote
