Loss
This didn't do as much for me as the Ishikawa match, but it had its moments. Would have been a cool match to see in the context of an interpromotional WWF vs WCW feud in 1998.
Tim Evans
This got better towards the end when they started kicking each other. Not as good as the Ishikawa match but still decent.
shoe
It wasn't as good as the other one but it had a lot of cool moments. I dug all the attempts at submissions. Their was a good energy to it. Either Shamrock sold it great, or Flynn caught him good with that kick that lead to the knock down. Shamrock is a guy who I thought could have been a big star in wrestling. He could cut a promo in UFC, had a good look, was athletic, and had the UFC rep. I always felt that he was say in WCW around this time and put in the Dangerous Alliance and of course learned pro style, instead of shoot style he could have been a huge star. He could have learned from Arn,Rude, and Eaton. Had good matches with Steamer and Windham. Basically taken Austin's spot in 92. No more what ifs. Still thought this was a good match. tomk
What we wrote on Segundacaida Wayne Shamrock v. Jerry Flynn TKG: This had just a bunch of cool things going for it. Flynn's defensive stuff is always neat. there's this point where Shamrock has Flynn down and tries to grab for something. Flynn is able to defensively block every Shamrock attempt at a grab. Shamrock goes for a suplex and Flynn manages to defend while in the air. When Shamrock does have Flynn caught, Flynn makes one or two attempts to break free but always ends up going for the ropes. Flynn can defend but once Shamrock has him he struggles to escape. Its a kind of neat little thing they have going. There also is neat stand up section where Flynn gets a fall which only makes Shamrock more aggressive. PAS: This was a really fun Monday Night Wars Nitro v. RAW match. I would have liked to see the Dan Severn v. Glacier match that would semi-main this show. Shamrock's body is getting even weirder, his abdomen has weird lumps on it, like his six pack is bottles not cans. Flynn's stand up stuff looked really great here, and I love Shamrock's KO selling. shoe says: I always felt that he was say in WCW around this time and put in the Dangerous Alliance and of course learned pro style, instead of shoot style he could have been a huge star. I don't know about that. Think he might have fit in better in WCW . People tend to forget that WCW ran multiple styles of tag wrestling. And while they did Steamer/Windham v Dangerous Alliance southern tag stuff they also ran a ton of hard hitting big moveset sprint stuff in the mode of Road Warriors--->Steiners--->High Voltage v Cobra and Craig Pittman type stuff which is a formula that I think might have suited Shamrock well. WingedEagle
Cautious trading of kicks early. Probably too cautious as it felt slow for a while. That's followed by a neat sequence of attempted submissions. Flynn scores a knockdown with an offense heavy on kicks and strikes before Shamrock secures the tap with an armbar. Not bad for the style but nothing stellar. ***
PeteF3
Heh, I liked this way more than the other match. Shamrock getting the shit kicked out of him and then making a dramatic comeback told more of a story in 30 seconds than just about anything in the undercard bout. garretta
Knockdown aside, I felt this was Shamrock's bout from the start. Flynn tried hard, but he simply wasn't in Shamrock's class. The submission seemed a bit quick to me, but that only made Shamrock's victory more decisive.
dawho5
Another cool dynamic in this fight. Shamrock is clearly the superior grappler and Flynn has an edge in striking. I liked Shamrock's going with the momentuum of submission attempts to stifle them when Flynn started to catch him. Seemed like Flynn was the junior guy in the match from the start, so I'll back garretta up on that point for sure.
