Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
Clips from MSC, and while the action is still good, you can tell they've run this match into the ground by the smaller crowd, less heat and general staleness of the feud. That said, this is a hell of a brawl that we get more footage of than normal. The match is billed as anything goes, but the ref stops Lawler from using a piledriver. Lawler won't accept that, and ends up giving the ref a piledriver and the match gets thrown out. He's so mad about that that he piledrives him again! Tim Evans
I guess this was the start of the Paul Neighbors heel turn? The feud was pretty much over at the time.
Kevin Ridge
The empty seats was very visible. A DQ in an anything goes match is not the best finish. One of the Moondogs really bent the guard rail when he landed on it.
PeteF3
Crazy action, even by the standards of this feud. Lawler is about to piledrive a Moondog, but Paul Neighbors tries to stop him even though this is supposed to be no-DQ. So Lawler gives Neighbors a piledriver instead. That gets the match thrown out--weak sauce, but if this is part of the Neighbors turn at least it's going somewhere.
WingedEagle
Clips from MSC with boards, signs, chairs as per the usual here. Fun looking brawl but the crowd doesn't seem as hot as earlier in the year. Lawler piledrives the ref and its called off. Good for what it was. garretta
No, Eagle. No, it wasn't. They might as well have had Corey announce before the bout, "No matter what Lawler and Jarrett do, they will not win the tag team titles tonight!" Even if they're trying to turn Neighbors heel, this wasn't the place to start that angle. I'd have much rather had Lee hang on to Jeff's foot and get a sneaky pin for the Dogs than make hash out of a stipulation like that. Not only that, Lawler piledriving Neighbors a second time made him seem like the one who was turning heel. Even seeing Lawler piledrive Lee, which he's had coming for months, doesn't make this one any more palatable. Â Aren't there any other teams (besides the Bushwhackers) that they can bring in to face the Dogs? I realize that they want Eddie Gilbert to finally have a decent reign as Unified champion, so they want to keep Lawler out of that mix for a while, but isn't there something else he can do? Doesn't Dundee need help with Rich and Landell, or has that feud been forgotten already?
ajtroma
Both Rich & Landell had split by this point.
garretta
I thought it was something like that. Thanks, AJ!
dawho5
By Memphis standards doesn't Lawler piledriving the ref and Lee damn near killed them?
