Last few minutes. What's up with the ECW chant? Mabel becomes King Mabel. Razor gets attacked post-match too. The 1-2-3 Kid tries to make a save and gets laid out too. Strong setup of Mabel as a challenger, but booking will only get you so far.

I think Vince said KOTR 95 was the first time he had really noticed the ECW chants and how popular the company was getting.

 

Choosing Mabel v Savio Vega as the King of the Ring final probably doesn't help WWF look like a good company to them Philly fans either.

Having Mabel go over Razor would have been so much better. But from what I remember, Razor was hurt. Was that legit or just trying to throw another surprise on the PPV?

No. He was one of my favorites at the time.

 

This was awful though. I felt bad for Mabel when he had to sit there while fans were throwing trash. I think he even got nailed right in the face with a drink.

Savio was fuckin fantastic hidden in 1995 WWF....by far.....they should have done more with him...he was boys with the Taker and the BSK so no clue why they didnt...

We join in with the Philly fans in open revolt. It's easy to make fun of indy and puroresu snobs nowadays, but watching this set will really re-open your eyes to a time when that "the Japanese way is the bestest way" philosophy made total and perfect sense. The Big Two were recycling angles and presentation as stale as month-old bread and failing to draw anything with it. PURE SPORTS BUILD or Extremism may not have been the ideal perfect solution, but at least it was *something.* They go all-out to try to get Mabel over, but it was too little, too late. He'd already been poisoned by being part of a mid-card gimmick tag team and his name and attire would never let him get anywhere. Mo reads a proclamation and takes about 3 hours to do it. So ends the worst PPV effort in WWF history at least to this point.

I remember I wasn't watching at this point, and when I heard all the boys in class talking about this pay-per-view I thought they were saying the Saudi Avenger, rather than Savio Vega. I'm not sure if the Saudi Avenger would have been better or worse than Savio.
