Ron Wright gets the hero's welcome before the match gets started. Seeing him *walk* to the ring feels like Cornette is trying to recreate the Magnum TA moment, but maybe that's just me.

 

Not really a good chain match, but a hot one with some nice payoffs, and Wright and Tammy at ringside definitely add a lot to the heat.

 

DWB wins the SMW title, which was pretty expected in advance of this since he made the Pro Wrestling Babyface Promise.

It was a solid chain match. Tammy really makes Lee as a character as opposed to his uber bland baby face character. The finish here is great.

Ron Wright takes the lead here for best dressed over Dory Funk. I'm not really into chain matches so this was just okay to me.

The match bored me to hell but the payoff was great and Ron Wright was too.

Yeah after the great promos DWB has delivered, I was underwhelmed by the match and it showed how restrictive a chain match can be. Nice ending with the revenge spot of Wright but this just felt like a lot longer match than it was in actuality.

Not really a great match, not in comparison to the DWB/Smothers chain match or to Lee's performance as champ in general. But a highly satisfying payoff, as Ron Wright busts out the old loaded boot and kicks Lee's head in, allowing DWB to hit the fourth corner and take the SMW title.
