Loss Posted May 5, 2012 Author Report Posted May 5, 2012 These promos should have landed James Mitchell a shot at the big time. Another great one. Quote
Cox Posted May 5, 2012 Report Posted May 5, 2012 I never really liked Daryl Van Horne. He seemed to be trying way too hard, particularly with all the references to porn stars and such. 90% of his content seemed to be designed to pop the boys, and that rubbed me the wrong way. Quote

I don't know, Cornette threw plenty of clever lines in his promos in JCP too. Was he just trying to pop the boys? Quote
Cox Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 See, I think there's a difference. Van Horne is making reference to porn stars and felching in the Bible Belt, which is supposed to be edgy, but in reality most of the crowd probably has little to no idea who he's talking about. Cornette could be clever, but he would do what he said to get heat, whereas I see what Mitchell is doing to be more about popping the boys, since the target SMW crowd isn't going to get his references. I see that as a key difference. And while the Prince Kharis gimmick was DOA and probably had no hope out of the gate (because the gimmick stunk and the guy doing the gimmick wasn't any good), I don't think Van Horne did much to elevate it, either. Kevin Ridge Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 I really enjoy these Van Horn interviews with Caudle's facial expressions when he turns to the camera. There was only going to be so much Van Horn could do with managing someone like Kharis. Quote
Exposer Posted May 27, 2012 Report Posted May 27, 2012 I love these interviews. I don't care if SMW fan regulars don't get the references. I do, and that's enough for me to enjoy each and everyone of them. Quote
soup23 Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 Pretty good promo but the worst one by Van Horne so far and he didn’t get off a memorable line like tongue down your sister’s throat or fairytells you hear on Sunday in this one. It does feel like they have dragged it out enough and it is time for Kharis to debut. Quote
PeteF3 Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 Prince Kharis has "been watching snuff films all week," preparing for the Dirty White Boy. I'm with Cox--Van Horn tries way, WAY too hard. The stuff about brutalizing puppies just seems desperate rather than heeling. Quote
...TG Posted January 1, 2016 Report Posted January 1, 2016 I like Van Horn's promos, but Bob Caudle's horrified facial reactions to some of his lines are great. Quote
GSR Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Van Horn told everyone that Prince Kharis had finally gotten signed to a SMW Heavyweight title match and he’s sure it will tickle Bob Caudle’s prostate to know the man he will be facing will be the Dirty White Boy. Not only will this put the gold around Prince Kharis’ waist, but it will give him the opportunity to get a measure of revenge against him for what he did at Thanksgiving Thunder when he stepped in the ring to protect Tim Horner. They’ve added an opium den to the Prince’s chamber and have been watching snuff films all week to get him mentally prepared for this title match in April against the White Boy! Quote
