More of a brawl than the previous matches, which works better for The Gangstas. I guess the match never really got started officially, as they use weapons and toss the referee out. Lance Storm does a run in and seems to be daydreaming about posting condescending Q & A responses online years later. Still, this is a really hot pull-apart brawl that spills into the parking lot, with the Morton/New Jack issue really being highlighted above all.

 

We close things out with New Jack cutting a promo on Ricky Morton, "that little caucasian devil", as Morton causes him.

One thing that I noticed in the later years of SMW is how the Rock 'n' Roll are handled. After the Bodies leave, the Rock 'n' Roll feuds almost seem like offshoots of Ricky Morton vs. somebody...Morton vs. Chris Candido, Morton vs. New Jack, Morton vs. Eddie Gilbert, Morton vs. Al Snow. Robert Gibson more and more feels like he's only along for the ride, and that all of their feuds sprout from the fact that Ricky Morton has a problem with one member of the other team. It almost feels like Cornette loses whatever little faith he might have had in Robert Gibson to begin with and it's up to Morton to carry the entire feud on the Rock 'n' Roll's end.

Not really a match as it never officially starts. Just a brawl between two teams and much better suited for the Gangstas. Better match then the other ones. The SMW roster has to run down to try separate the teams in the ring when the referee is knocked out. Arena seems to be too big for the crowd as they show empty sections on TV. Brawl leaves the ring and heads to the outside. Even with all the wrestlers out there, they have a hard time keeping the two teams apart.

Tremendous wild brawl. The match never officially starts and the brawl goes out into the parking lot. New Jack cuts a great promo on Ricky Morton and the Rock N Rolls back in the studio. Great stuff.

Finally some fucking brawling between these teams. I don't know whether I will rank this as a Tupelo Concession stand type match or not but as a spectacle it was tremendous and some of my favorite brawling for the year.

Interesting point. And really, since the beginning of SMW, Robert Gibson does look like he's around for the ride.

Decent little brawl, but the Gangstas just don't do it for me in SMW either after all. Still fun promos from New Jack.

I think this was supposed to be before the Tennessee Valley Fair match, as they made reference to this brawl during that bout. Hot brawl, by far the best of the "matches" between these two. New Jack tries to hang Ricky Morton with a NOOSE (or, as Chip Kessler helpfully points out, "THEY'VE GOT HIM LYNCHED!") which is pretty fucking wild. The empty seats in Johnson City are pretty noticeable--that was once SMW's hottest town, but this is just coming off the hair vs. hair fiasco. New Jack closes us out with another promo. I respect New Jack's commitment to heeling, cutting promos on all the "Uncle Toms" in the area in addition to all the rednecks, doing his best to ensure universal loathing from all races.

This match is from Johnson City, TN and is much better than the TV match (which was pretty much a straight wrestling match), as here we’ve got the ‘fight’ that New Jack had been promising in his interviews. The Gangstas hang Ricky Morton with a noose at one point, before Robert Gibson attacks them with a blackjack he stole from New Jack busting them both open. New Jack ends up with the noose around his neck and when Mark Curtis tries to regain some sort of order, Morton tosses him over the top rope to the floor (and he takes a great bump in the process!). The Hornet, Lance Storm, Chris Jericho, Chris Candido, Brian Lee, Anthony Michaels, Tracey Smothers, Killer Kyle and Tony Anthony all come out to try and separate the two teams and keep them from one another. They don’t have much luck and they continue to brawl all the way to the backstage area, hitting each other with whatever weapons they can get their hands on from 2x4’s to mops to door frames. The brawl makes its way out into the parking lot where all the wrestlers finally manage to separate them both. Tremendous stuff!

 

We follow up with a Gangstas promo and New Jack says that he told those Caucasian white devils that they would get them and that it will no longer be a wrestling match but a fight. They’re going to get them again and next time he gets to put his hands round that punk neck of theirs, he’s going to choke the life out of them and they will see that he and Mustafa are not to be played. They’re the people they’re going to sit up and lose sleep about, they’re on a mission and that mission is to put the Rock & Roll Express right beside that big, fat, greasy haired Elvis Presley. Rock & Roll is dead!
