Parties Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 Best wrestling-related thing I've seen in ages. Col. Brody's stache. Finlay grinning uncontrollably. A moping PN News dejectedly singing about living in hotels while wearing a giant Miami Vice suit. Kautoff's goofy arm-wagging dance. Nogami's enthusiasm. The guy in the back row of the locker room shot waving his cape in the air. The five star thumbs up from the car. But the best guy in this is Owen, who always understood that intense sincerity to something stupid is usually way funnier than ironic detachment. Dude sells the hell out of this like it's the most important stuff he's ever said. Quote
ohtani's jacket Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 I reckon Wanz is the best guy in it since he signed-off on the thing. Hell, it could have even been his idea. Love the ref's dancing as well. Quote
Johnny Guitar Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 Total cheese, but awesome. Amazing to see how into it all the guys are. Quote
drew wardlaw Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 The combination of MC Hammer to this music video was so disorienting I didn't know wha was happening and I didn't recognize anyone but Vader. Anyway, a couple lyrical tweaks And a charitable cause and this could have been the wrestling version of "We Are the World." Quote
MLD1083 Posted July 18, 2016 Report Posted July 18, 2016 Late to the party and holy hell, that was awesomely bizarre. I was 6 at the start of 1990, so the WWF/WCW stuff will bring back some memories, but after this, I'm ready for anything. So cheesy in a good way. I'm interested to see some CWA shows now too. Quote
GSR Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 I'm sure a lot of what I post will already have been said but I spotted Col. Brody, Dave Taylor, Giant Haystacks, Fit Finlay, Tony St. Clair, Otto Wanz, Owen Hart, Cannonball Grizzly and Rambo (Luc Poirier). This is surprisingly catchy and a lot of the wrestlers are clearly enjoying themselves (especially Taylor). Amazingly it would appear there is a suit large enough for Haystacks! Quote
dawho5 Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 Loved this bit of cheese. The fat guys dancing around while walking down the street and clearly getting into it is just so....bizarre and train-wrecky....it absolutely works! Great intro to the set. Quote
cactus Posted October 7, 2017 Report Posted October 7, 2017 What a way to start the yearbook. Awful stuff, I loved every second of it. I noticed Owen Hart, Giant Haystacks and Vader in this and I had a hard time telling what promotion this was from. Quote
WingedEagle Posted October 7, 2017 Report Posted October 7, 2017 This got a recent mention in Melter's Wanz obituary. Fun to get a little context and look back on it. Quote
jasch Posted October 29, 2017 Report Posted October 29, 2017 Decided to rewatch 1990 today, and good lord is the most 1990 wrestling thing imaginable. Fat guys dancing and singing to a so bad that it's good pop song. Quote
ChuckScumm Posted November 6, 2017 Report Posted November 6, 2017 The best part is how into it Akira Nogami is. He looks like he's having the time of his life. I posted the video on Facebook, and it got around. Low & behold, I see the video was shared by & I get a friend request from Akira Nogami. He said that everyone had a great time filming this. Quote
ElHijodeGorgeousGeorge Posted July 3 Report Posted July 3 Wrestling Playlists brought me here and I'll be frank, I started the Yearbooks section of the database and this video pounced onto me like it's a Monty Brown TNA squash. The horrid Madness inspired dancing in the streets, the awful lip-syncing, and then the actual wrestling bits would strobe in and I suddenly am very excited for come Catch! Seeing baby Owen was heartwarming. As previously mentioned, Akira losing his mind in the back is just amazing. Otto was a visionary, of what I'm not sure. Quote
