Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
Brother Love is so good in this gimmick, much better than I remembered. They're really milking the feet kissing for everything it's worth. Sapphire slaps him when he gets a little too big for his britches. Lots of big personalities here. PeteF3
Brother Love gets in both people's faces about how they now know their place at the feet of royalty. Weird setting and presence of Sapphire aside, this is as close as we've gotten to a classic old-school Dusty promo to this point in the WWF, invoking his plumber father and Sapphire's hotel maid mother and their representation of Americana. Sapphire waylays Brother Love with a slap as an exclamation point.
soup23
Good Dusty promo but I have to side with Jesse that it was a cheap shot by Sapphire. Vince saying that the only people that Love Brother Love is the people working the lunch counter got a big lol out of me also.
Kevin Ridge
Dusty says nobody embarrasses him in public. He’s sporting a leather polka dot jacket. Sapphire slaps Brother Love in the face.
Cox
Dusty does a really good promo here talking about kissing Savage's foot. Have to give Dusty and Savage credit, they haven't had a ton to work with here in this little midcard feud, but they're both doing what they can to make it seem important. Sapphire stiffs the hell out of Brother Love, who is acting so obnoxious (even for him) that you know he's getting his by the end of this segment. garretta
I noticed right away that Dusty was wearing jeans instead of his polka-dot trunks, which meant that he was going to get serious, and he did. This was right out of the Crockett playbook circa 1986, and the fans loved it. This is the Dusty that should have shown up from day one. I appreciate that the showman in Dusty thought he could get the polka dots over, and he did, but I like him so much better this way it isn't funny, polka dot top aside. It's just a shame that Sapphire is so limited. I liked that she slapped the taste out of Brother Love's mouth, but she's basically been window dressing in this feud. Yes, Dusty can talk for two (or two hundred if need be), but with Sherri so hot right now, it would have been nice if Sapphire would have at least been able to do something on the stick. Maybe they were going for a Miss Elizabeth "shrinking violet" routine, especially since Sapphire wasted no time hiding behind Dusty after she slapped Brother Love, but Juanita was too physically big for that, plus she'd at least been able to say a few words here and there before. Of course, considering how this feud petered out in the months ahead, it really didn't make that much difference in the end anyhow.
GSR
Brother Love’s guests this week are a common man and a common woman who now know their place in society. That place is at the feet of the ‘Macho King’ Randy Savage and the ‘Sensational Queen’ Sherri and they are the ‘American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire. Love says how Sapphire learned all about humiliation when she kissed the feet of the ‘Macho King’, but that is only half of the story. He then turns to Dusty Rhodes and says that the other half is when ‘Brother Dream’ gets on his hands and knees, crawls, bends down and kisses the feet of the ‘Macho King’ and the ‘Sensational Queen’. Dusty says that he’ll tell them about the common people of Americana. His father worked out in the country and crawled on his knees in a public ditch, while Sapphire’s mum went through a hotel scrubbing floors as that’s what this country is all about! He says that nobody embarrasses Dusty Rhodes in public, nobody embarrasses Sapphire in public and there are going to be some damn dues paid! As far as Brother Love thinking he’s going to kiss Sherri’s feet, he can kiss his ***! He asks Sapphire what she thinks and ends up getting a slap for his trouble. Only a short promo, but powerful stuff from Dusty here. Give him his due, he doesn’t do anything half-hearted and puts everything into each and every angle, no matter how ‘silly’ it may seem. dawho5
Dusty really cuts a great, fired-up promo here. For as shitty as this feud was, the participants sure gave 110% to make it better. Sapphire slapping Brother Love was good too.
