Luger was hospitalized with a legit staph infection and had a severely injured knee going into this match, which they played up in promos and announcing on the show. Flair and Ole are on fire. Barry Windham is conspicuous by his absence.

I think it's pretty hilarious that Sid, of all people, is the only one of the Horsemen to be wearing a tux.

It appears that Woman is already being phased out, as she wasn't a part of the final pre-show promo or this one.

The Horsemen are fired up. Ole says that the Horsemen have never allowed Ric Flair to lose the NWA World title, which isn't exactly accurate, but he says it with enough conviction to where you're willing to forgive a minor factual error.

The Horsemen remain on fire here. Sid says nothing, but doesn't have to. Barry and Woman aren't even there, but it doesn't make any difference. This is a flashback to '86, when Flair and the Andersons simply told it like it was. The cage doesn't matter, Robocop doesn't matter (and isn't even mentioned), the rules don't matter. All that matters is that Flair leaves with the gold. Tony's presence only adds to the old-time feel. Just great stuff.

Ole, Arn and tuxedo Sid have a few words to say to Tony Schiavone. Ole says how everyone has been talking about how great Lex Luger is and what a courageous man he is, but as far as they’re concerned, only an idiot would do what Lex Luger is doing. He guarantees that if Luger makes it out here, his last breath will be in that squared circle because the Horsemen have never allowed a title to leave the hands of the World Champion, Ric Flair, and they’re not going to let it happen tonight. Flair steps in to join them and tells Lex that if he’s got a problem with that leg going into this match he’ll be a one legged athlete for the rest of his life. When he walks that aisle he pays the price for thinking that one day in his life he is half the man that he is every day! Arn says that they are individuals, thinking individually, working collectively, towards the same goal. They are all synchronised gears working together to keep what belongs to the Horsemen and they’ll die before they let Ric Flair lose that title.

Three strong promos from Ole, Flair and Double A and I liked Sid as this menacing, imposing figure watching on from the back. I did wonder what Flair was talking about in his promo, so thanks for the clarification that he had a staph infection and was injured going in to this match.
