Loss Posted December 10, 2012 Author Report Posted December 10, 2012 Volkoff and Duggan announce their partnership. Topical, considering the collapse of the Soviet Union.
PeteF3 Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Vince hilariously dumps on a fat woman in the crowd. "Think there's any relation?" once it cuts to Brother Love. Love declares that world peace is a HOAX and declares Volkoff to be a traitor. Duggan comes out and welcomes Nikolai to the United States in the SPIRIT OF GLASNOST. Lame as hell--but wow, Brother Love was legitimately fantastic here.
soup23 Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Vince was a bastard to the woman in the crowd. Volkolff and Duggan together doesn't really excite me much.
shoe Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 Putting Duggan and Nikolai together makes me smile.
Kevin Ridge Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Duggan had to have been one of Brother Love's least favorite people. He is quite upset when Duggan shows up. We get the Duggan/Volkoff partnership. Volkoff is very enthusiastic about waving the American flag.
ajtroma Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 When THIS is one of the biggest things of the week, then your promotion really sucks. WWF was just the utter shits
garretta Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 I'd have to agree with AJ here, although this segment wasn't bad for what it was. You could tell that Volkoff had new life and was doing something he cared about, probably for the first time in years. Duggan was the perfect choice to befriend him, since he was the all-American patriot, and even Brother Love wasn't bad here, as he betrayed his so-called "principles" for about the ten millionth time and declared world peace a hoax and Nikolai a traitor. It's just too bad that Volkoff was on the scrap heap and Duggan was headed that way, because at least a little more should have been made of this booking-wise. Come to think of it, that lady in the front row did look a little like Brother Love!
GSR Posted January 18, 2017 Report Posted January 18, 2017 As Love is introducing the show the camera’s cut to a rather large, older lady in the crowd and Vince wonders if she is any relation! Love says that his guest this week is a traitor. A man who is a disgrace to his motherland and a disgrace here in the United States, but for some reason people all over the world have opened their arms to him as an adopted son, Nikolai Volkoff. Big Nikolai jogs out onto the set, clearly happy to be getting some sort of push after all these years in the Bolsheviks. The interview isn’t good, but he says he knows he can beat Boris Zhukov one on one, and hopes that all of the American people will be behind him. Jim Duggan joins him on set and Love isn’t happy as it’s his show and he wasn’t invited! He backs downs sharpish when Duggan tells him to get out of his face. Hacksaw presents Nikolai with ‘Old Glory’ and welcomes him to the United States as a neighbour, a brother and as a friend. The two of them shake hands, Nikolai waves the flag and Duggan salutes it. I know they team together against the Orient Express, but I hope that’s it for this pairing. The prospect of these two as a team is not one that excites me.
Beast Posted June 20, 2020 Report Posted June 20, 2020 Opposite of the Slaughter stuff that was on the horizon; great idea to end officially end the "Evil Russian" era like this. If Volkoff had any juice left in him, he likely would have done better for himself. I think he gets some pretty good reactions for a while after this. Didn't enjoy how Love's take on Glasnost and Nikolai's embracing of American values felt like contrarian disingenuous BS you'd see a Fox News talking head throw out today. But I guess a faux preacher is the perfect mouthpiece for that stuff...
