Loss
Before the match, Boss Man approaches Bobby Heenan at the broadcast booth over the jokes about his mama. He handcuffs Heenan and takes him away, with Heenan taking a really scary bump from the top of the stairs. Good Lord! He finally handcuffs Heenan to the guard rail at ringside. Boss Man works his squash and finishes off Perez without breaking a sweat before the referees and Rene Goulet swarm the ringside area to protect Boss Man from attacking Heenan. He throws the keys to Heenan's handcuffs into the crowd, and all the officials escort Boss Man away from the ring, leaving Heenan to fend for himself as the next match starts. Good stuff. PeteF3
Boss Man and Heenan play this to the hilt, with BBM working hard to get this issue over as a blood feud. Heenan takes one of his last absurd bumps of his career, careening off the broadcast booth to the floor, as Boss Man drags him to ringside and cuffs him to the barricade. Boss Man works a pretty good squash match, incidentally. He's about to dish out hard time to Heenan afterward but officials shield Heenan. Boss Man responds by heaving the key into the crowd. Power & Glory are out for their match. Heenan offers them $10,000 if they can get him free, but as Herc is about to work on breaking the cuffs, the referee starts counting them out, forcing them to abandon the project. soup23
Fun stuff with Hennan getting handcuffed to the guardrail. I also liked how it played into the P&G match with Hercules being asked to break the cuffs.
Kevin Ridge
Nice sneakers Vince. Goes well with your suit. Boss Man assaults Heenan and yanks him to ringside. Heenan and Rude have been making comments about Boss Man’s mother. Quick squash. Referees and officials come to Heenan’s aid. Boss Man throws the key into the crowd. Heenan is stuck ringside for the next match. Power & Glory try to help Heenan but almost get counted out for their match. Later, Rude and Heenan demand Boss Man show up with key. Bobby was very good physically through out this.
ajtroma
One of the job guys, Ross Lindsay, is actually Ross Hart of the Hart clan. Just throwing that in there for trivia. Rude's repeated use of "bullshit" probably thrilled Vince to no end.
garretta
Like Vince, I found it kind of weird that the referees went to those lengths to protect Heenan, and that there were so many of them. Two or three would have proven the point and still "restrained" Bossman. And what on earth was Rene Goulet going to do in a suit and tie? The Power and Glory stuff had an added dimension given Herc's past in the Heenan Family, but as usual when push comes to shove, heels look out for their own interests, even if it's just squashing a pair of jobbers. I wonder if Haku or Barbarian (or even Rude himself) would have made the same choice? This was the best segment of the whole Bossman/Heenan feud without question. GSR
Mike McGuirk introduces the Big Bossman for his match, but as he makes his way down the aisle he looks over to the announcing desk and spots Bobby Heenan. Vince McMahon points out that he’s looking over their way, but ‘The Brain’ claims that he’s looking at McMahon, not him. He heads over and tells Heenan that he’s warned him over and over about talking about his mother. Heenan starts to apologise profusely, backtrack and claim it was just a joke. The Bossman tells him that sorry isn’t going to cut it, grabs him by the wrist and handcuffs him. He tells McMahon to stay out of his face and yanks ‘The Brain’ off the announcing stage (with him taking a nice spill to the floor in the process). He drags him to ringside, threatening him with his nightstick as he goes, and handcuffs him to the guard rail. The Bossman squashes Perez, but before he is able to get at Heenan a bunch of referees and officials (including Rene Goulet, Tony Garea, Jay Strongbow and Pat Patterson) are out to stand between them while ‘The Brain’ cowers under his jacket. He throws the key into the audience and tells Heenan he isn’t finished with him yet, as the officials usher him back to the dressing room. Power & Glory are in the next match and Heenan tries to get them and Slick to help him with Roma suggesting about Hercules breaking the chain to the cuffs. The bell has rung for the start of the match by now and they only just beat the count, but this means that ‘The Brain’ remains cuffed and helpless at ringside. Check out Vince McMahon’s suit and trainer combination here! Masterful stuff from ‘The Brain’ backtracking and apologising like only he can, and even taking a bump off the announcing stage area when the Bossman yanks him off there. Him cowering under his jacket while handcuffed to the guardrails made me laugh far more than it had any right to do.
dawho5
Bossman and Heenan do some great work here. Bobby is incredible, but I imagine Vince thinks he's too old to keep doing crazy shit like that bump during the segment. His freaking out while handcuffed to the guard rails is so great.
