Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
Expiration of time match. We get a few minutes of decent action before Lawler and Dundee are out with baseball bats and trash cans to get even for earlier. After the commercial break, DWB is back out and is not happy. Gilbert joins their side. He still expects to get his money! He says he'll be at Mid South Coliseum Monday night and if he doesn't, there will be hell to pay. Downtown Bruno is out with the Wild Things. Jeff Gaylord is dancing to the "Get Bucked" chant now. I don't think he understands what's going on. PeteF3
Solid tag match that ends with Lawler & Dundee coming in with a baseball bat and trash can respectively to put a beatdown on the DWBs. Anthony charges the interview set after the break and makes threats for Monday night towards the babyfaces. Anthony's delivery is there but he's still not as polished on the mic as he would become later. Eddie Gilbert is AGHAST at having to wake up early to come to the studio for his check only to find that he's not getting it. He delivers an ominous warning that if he doesn't get his money, someone's getting hurt Monday night or next Saturday morning. In lieu of a second fall we get another promo from Downtown Bruno while the Wild Things pose. This is actually one of the better Bruno promos I've heard but it's drowned out by the "Get bucked" chant. Bruno's "It's like mama said..." catchphrase is over enough that the crowd sings along with it.
soup23
Action was fairly good and actually went on longer than I figured. I am confused on the rules of this match and how much time there is. Dave also still calls this a technical loss so were still hanging on to the new USWA rules even though interference is as prevalent as ever. Gilbert is out with DWB and heeds a warning to all. Bruno had a good promo also. Great tv show overall and I love how USWA would fire off these once every 6 weeks of so.

Kevin Ridge
We were getting a pretty decent TV match until Lawler/Dundee ran in to take on the Dirty White Boys. Tony Anthony is not happy about Lawler interfering in his tag team title match. DWB issues challenges to Lawler and Dundee. Wasn't clear if match was going to resume or not. Gilbert woke up early to come get his money from Dundee. He’s starting to think he may not be getting his money. Gilbert wants his money or someone is getting hurt. I like that Gilbert feels he still should be getting paid from Dundee. The parade of Lawler bashing continues with Bruno runs him down. Bruno says three times he is going to get bucked which is funny. But the camera cut to the crowd chanting puts it over the top.
ajtroma
The rumor around now is that Jeff Gaylord died in prison earlier this year. He was in prison out in Colorado for attempted bank robbery (and knowing the intelligence of Gaylord...gawd, to be a fly on the wall at both the planning and execution of that caper). Anybody know for sure?
PeteF3
Gaylord was a member of the football team at the University of Missouri before wrestling--as a result, I have a hard time believing his death would fly under the radar like that, for that long. garretta
The match was nice until Lawler and Dundee wrecked it, but no one minds the wrecking, not even King and Maggs, who didn't look too bad. I like the alliance between Anthony and Gilbert, but isn't Tom Burton kind of the forgotten man here? It always seems like Anthony has other partners in the really big matches. I like that Eddie was still so focused on getting his money from Dundee, especially since he (erroneously) believes that Lawler now has it. No one plays the aggrieved victim sort of heel quite as well as Eddie. It's interesting; when Downtown Bruno was in the southern USWA, he was billed from Pittsburgh. But when he jumped to the Northeast-based WWF as Harvey Whippleman, he was billed from (I believe) Memphis, of all places. At any rate, his promo is good, and he plays to the "Get bucked!" chant very well, even including it in the meat of the promo. Nicely done. Finally, I got a kick out of Dave blaming Bruno's promo for costing the match a second fall. Hell hath no fury like a Memphis announcer whose show has gone off format! drew wardlaw
Wow Joey Maggs! And a champion no less.
GSR
King and Maggs are the current USWA tag team champions and this is a non-title expiration of time match. King has got an awful haircut! He and Maggs actually look like a decent little team here, but it’s hard to get the image of Well Dunn and Joey Maggs ‘WCW enhancement talent’ out of your head. A few solid minutes of action before Dundee and Lawler are out to attack the White Boys with a baseball bat and trash can that they’d bought with them. Back from a commercial break and out comes the Dirty White Boy (carrying a chair), Dirty White Girl and Eddie Gilbert. Dave Brown tells him that he’s already had his interview, but he says he’s coming out for another one whether he likes it or not. Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee interfered in their match and started beating on them with a trash can. Does that seem fair? He’s fed up with Bill Dundee, and if Jerry Lawler wants to stick his nose where it doesn’t belong, that’s fine, because this chair will look real good rammed around his neck. He’s going to stomp Dundee’s brains out and if Tessa continues to stick her nose where it doesn’t belong, she’s going to get hurt! What happened earlier was just an example. Eddie Gilbert says that he got up very early this morning to be here, free of charge, to pick up his cheque from Bill Dundee, but now it looks like he won’t be getting his money. He tells Dundee that that if he doesn’t get his money, if Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler is the reason he’s not getting his money, they better look over their shoulders. Be it Monday at the Coliseum, or next Saturday at the studio, someone is going to get hurt, and they haven’t heard the last of Eddie Gilbert. As they leave out comes Downtown Bruno and The Wild Things. Bruno says that they don’t like to be sidetracked or distracted, they want to be the next USWA tag team champions, but Jerry Lawler came out here and he’s now got his mind on other things and has got them all upset. Jerry Lawler was running him down, saying that he was unfaithful, un-loyal and accused him of costing him a match he never cost him. He offered Jerry Lawler his hand in friendship, to be his manager, but he just talked bad about him and called him a weasel. Nobody calls him a weasel! He said how he wanted nothing to do with him, and now he’s upset and left with no choice. Jerry Lawler made him look bad, and now he’s got to make him look bad. Three good promos back to back. I really liked the way the Dirty White Girl reacted to the White Boy throwing the chair down on the floor, almost like she knows he’s been pushed too far. Eddie Gilbert continues to be all about the money, and even Downtown Bruno has got me interested in whatever he’s up to. Excellent episode of TV and things are really picking up in Memphis. dawho5
Gaylord going along with the chant was hilarious. I really like how all of the segments of this show connect.
