Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
As much as we joke about the HHH thing, I really think it's a typical WWF directive for certain wrestlers not to be portrayed as weak in commercials. Notice that neither the Hogan nor Warrior buddy take a single bump in this commercial, but DiBiase is flying all over the place.
shoe
Haha I never noticed it before, but totally believeable.
Matt D
I had Savage and Warrior as a 9 year old. What? I did.
goodhelmet
Dude, you and Musgrave would totally get along. He had his Hulk Hogan Buddy with him as we watched the AWA set.
Johnny Sorrow
I had the Fritz Von Erich Wrestling Buddy. I'd hug it and it would reject my love unless I wrestled.
Kevin Ridge
Never did get me a wrestling buddy. Would have enjoyed dropping elbows on a Hogan wrestling buddy. I didn't put as much thought into this as Loss but it is funny that was how they did this commercial.
soup23
Had the Hogan and Roberts buddies myself. One of my favorite toys as a kid.
garretta
This was definitely a "softer" toy commercial than we're used to from the WWF. There was a regular toy commercial-type voiceover, a goofy skit with parents and kids, and a general air of cuddliness about the whole thing. I kind of liked the more action-packed commercials with a WWF announcer doing the voiceover and more of a wrestling atmosphere. Then again, these were stuffed toys instead of action figures, so maybe Vince thought a change in style was warranted. Interesting to learn about which buddies bumped and which didn't. Talk about micromanagement from Vince! How in the world did a well-respected toy company like Tonka put up with stuff like that?
