Loss
Pretty awesome post-match angle from WM, as Slaughter throws a fireball on an unsuspecting Hogan as he's entering his dressing room. I have to say that I saw a great match wanting to come out of these two and I'm happy to see the feud continue. Hogan is having a really good year so far, and this feels very Memphis. shoe
Fireballs are the greatest thing in wrestling!!
PeteF3
The triumph of Hulk Hogan and millions of Hulkamaniacs was RAPED by the cold-blooded ambush of Sgt. Slaughter. Hogan should have carried that spray that prevents rape with him. Hogan is about to call his family in the locker room when Sarge surprises him with fire! A longtime wrestling staple that the WWF hadn't touched since the days of the Sheik makes its return here. Hogan's "OH GOD" moaning is absolutely putrid, on the levels of his "acting" in the first-aid area with Elizabeth on the Main Event. Okerlund and Sarge are great, though. BURN, BABY, BURN. Hogan's histrionics aside this was a pretty intense and well-done angle that came across as chaotic and out-of-control instead of sterilized and rehearsed like most WWF angles. One of several hardcore angles to come this year.
Kevin Ridge
What did Gene say??? Cool little clip of Slaughter attacking Hogan with fireball and chair in hallway after WrestleMania. Sarge probably should have hit Adnan while he was at it. I thought Okerlund was going to cry here.
soup23
Cant believe I dont remember this and it was awesome. The visual of Hogan opening the door and seeing Adnan and Slaughter was creepy and the fireball looked great putting to rest any thoughts of Hogan moving on to someone else after WM . Smack2k
PERFECT way to take what looked like the end of a feud, with Hogan fighting back and winning the titel at Mania VII and kick it into the next gear minutes later.... This SHOULD have led to a final Desert Storm or No Rules Match at Summerslam to end the feud, but we see where it went..instead they had Houseshows with that match that were really good... garretta
They had to continue this feud; there was no one else set up to challenge Hogan. Warrior's time was gone, and who else was left on the heel side? Warlord? Sure, that would have been a real headliner for SummerSlam. Quake? Already disposed of. Teddy? Already disposed of, plus his feud with Virgil still had plenty of meat on it, especially after Virgil just beat him. Hennig? Long finished, and it wouldn't have been the same with Tolos in Curt's corner anyway. Hogan needed someone to bridge to an eventual showdown with Taker (remember, Flair wasn't on the radar yet), and Sarge was as good as anyone. Even if some didn't agree with how he got it, he still drew more real heat than any Hogan challenger since Andre, and he could still work a good brawl. Where Vince messed up was in doing the handicap match at SummerSlam and the Desert Storm matches on the house show circuit instead of the other way around. These two didn't need Sheik, Adnan, or Warrior to have a good match. Then again, as some have said, I think Vince considered Randy and Liz's wedding the real main event of that card to the point that whatever else was there didn't matter much. As for this segment, I didn't consider either man's acting much good, but that wasn't the point; the fireball was, and it was such a shock that the fans didn't need to remember much else. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't do at least a small injury angle with this, but they probably felt it would be overkill after doing something similar with Quake the year before. What is Vince's obsession with rape? We had Studd and Patera raping Andre's dignity by cutting his hair back in the day, now we have Sarge raping Hogan's victory by burning him. I guess if you have Vince's background (he was reportedly a victim of sexual abuse as a child, courtesy of his stepfather), rape is a fate worse than death, the worst possible thing that can happen to a person (assuming, of course, that one doesn't turn into a rapist themselves, which Vince didn't).
