Loss Posted April 5, 2013 Author Report Posted April 5, 2013 Embry is out for an interview, but he's preceded by Leatherface going crazy with a chainsaw. Embry's entourage is now Leatherface, Ta-Gar and Judge Dredd. Gotta love it. Embry says "Lawler's a lot more stupider than I thought he was." He jokes that no one around the country wanted to be his partner when they found out they would have to face Eric Embry. Quote
WingedEagle Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Since you've watched all the yearbooks, where would you (and anyone else that's seen him) rank Embry on the mic all time? I've been blown away by what I've seen thus far. Maybe he doesn't have the range some others do, but I don't recall hearing much about him as a classic promo and that's my impression thus far. Quote

I'm more impressed by him in the ring to be honest, although I do think he's a good talker. Quote
WingedEagle Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Interesting, for me his mic work has completely outshined his stuff in the ring. He's no slouch there but also doesn't stand out to me as anything especially memorable. Quote
PeteF3 Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 Dave and Michael are running over the rest of the show when they hear an ominous noice--LEATHERFACE is in the studio, running around waving a chainsaw. Like I said earlier, there's a Texas Boys connection there. The relation of Ta-Gar is somewhat murkier--are there volcanoes in Texas? What makes Embry so great on the mic is that he's probably as good or better as a babyface, which is saying something considering what a spectacular scuzzball of a heel he is. There's absolutely nowhere else in the world where he could have gotten over besides Memphis and Texas (and he had the book in both places!) but God bless him for it. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 Leatherface is creating havoc in the studio. Embry manages to get him to cool down. Eric does a promo focusing on only Lawler. Quote
shoe Posted June 3, 2013 Report Posted June 3, 2013 I'm really digging Leatherface and Embry is really strong here . Quote
soup23 Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Leatherface and crazy Embry continue to be a great pairing together. I have really liked Embry on the mic in 1991. I think I would put Gilbert's strongest 1990 work ahead of it but that is no slouch on what Embry is crafting. Quote
garretta Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 More good stuff on the mic from Embry. I'm not sure who Lawler's partner is for the tag match they seem to be promoting, but it looks like one of the Memphis guys that Embry's had a run-in with before, as he threatens to put whoever it is out of action all over again. It seems that Prichard and Miss Texas have officially split from the Embry/Tojo entourage, as they aren't even mentioned here, let alone present. I think Dr. Tom would be taken a lot more seriously as a threat to Lawler than a couple of comic book characters, but I'm not a frustrated cartoonist who has a job as a wrestling booker like Lawler does, so who am I to judge? dawho5 Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 The Leatherface stuff is great, but Embry tops it with that wild, but still sleazy, promo. He seems to have dropped a lot of the Texas vs. Tennessee stuff for just plain crazy though. Embry did get over in Puerto Rico also. Quote
