Eric Embry has a haircut (and washed hair??) and he's in a suit with a high-class woman (CJ) on his arm. How about that? He says CJ told him he had been in the Mid South area so long that he was starting to look like the locals and it frightened him, which is why he has this makeover. Embry seems a little smitten, but Dave Brown implores him to talk about wrestling, so he mentions Embry vs Pritchard at MSC with Tony Falk's hair vs Pritchard's title. They sell the consequences of Falk losing his hair as meaningless, with CJ telling him she'll have no problem giving him a new look if necessary, which seems like an ineffective way to get over a stip.

No more Tojo with Embry. Looked it up and see that he had health issues from this point which is sad. Embry all cleaned up. He must have a job interview set up later in the day. Embry also acting more calm. I was not recognizing CJ at first. It's not the best sell of hair stipulation.

Yes, Tojo was a couple of months away from taking his own life.

Embry comes out with a drastically changed look--no more stringy hair, and wearing a double-breasted suit. He looks a bit like Ted DiBiase if he were only the Thousand Dollar Man. Miss CJ is the one responsible for this. Meanwhile Embry has got his shot at Tom Prichard's Southern title, with Tony Falk's hair on the line. Embry says Falk has nothing to worry about but CJ remarks that even if he does lose his hair, she can give him a makeover. That doesn't seem to please Tony.

Embry has a makeover more than just his appearance as he is head over heels for CJ. Tony Falk putting up his short hair doesn't feel that consequential and they blow it off anyway. Interested to see where this goes from an Embry character perspective but I think he needs to be removed from the Pritchard feud as quick as possible.

This was actually cute in its own way. Calm Embry is a nice change of pace, although he might have overdone it a but here. Dave goes from mockingly rolling his eyes to shaking his head in wonderment at what CJ has wrought, although what this meant for Dr. Tom and the Southern title was unknown at the time.

I'm not sure that the idea of this segment was putting over the match stipulations; it was introducing CJ and furthering the dissension between Falk and Embry. Hair matches don't really need to be put over, because they're self-explanatory. Lose the match and be shaved bald; a moron could understand that. There were other priorities at work here, and they were tended to quite nicely. CJ telling Tony that she'll make him over like she did Embry if Embry loses was the perfect cliffhanger; not only does it further Falk's isolation from Embry, it brings up the idea that losing the match may not be the biggest deal in the world to Embry. That can't be right, though, especially against Prichard, so what does the "master manipulator", as Dr. Tom calls him, have up his sleeve for Monday night?

CJ can actually talk a bit, it seems, which is an improvement from most of the other women of Memphis that we've seen over the last two yearbooks. Let's hope she keeps it up!
