Jordan Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 https://www.facebook.com/ScientificWrestling?ref=ts&fref=ts I am unbelievably sad to report that my very good friend Billy Robinson passed away today. I hadn't heard from him in days so I contacted his apartment complex to check in on him. When I called back for a progress report the apartment manager put the police on the phone, it seems he passed peacefully in his sleep. He was a lion of a man, bigger than life in so many ways, my wife and I named our youngest son, Lliam in his honor. You will be sorely missed, my friend. Thank you so much for living the life you did. Sad to hear. R.I.P.
JazeUSA Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 his book was a good read too, sad to hear indeed
Death From Above Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2014/3/3/5466448/mma-wwe-professional-catch-as-catch-can-wrestler-billy-robinson-74-passes-away A sad day indeed. One of the special talents.
KrisZ Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 One of the greatest pure wrestlers there ever was RIP
Marty Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 Very sad day, great worker, a treat to watch in the ring.
Childs Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 One of my absolute favorites; probably my No. 1 wrestler from the '70s.
khawk20 Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 RIP. Great worker and a long-time personal favourite.
gordi Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Sad news indeed. He was certainly one of the all time greats, and maybe the toughest pro wrestler of all time.
victory Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 R.I.P. Very sad. Always was amazed at his moves when I was a kid watching the AWA.
cm funk Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 Billy Robinson is an all time great wrestler. Wish there was more footage of him RIP
Childs Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Dave's long bio from this week's Observer is full of interesting stuff. One thing that irritated me: Flair saying Billy wasn't a great worker and suggesting he was carried by Bockwinkel and Stevens.
JerryvonKramer Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 "No one ever had a bad word to say about him"
Childs Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 From bio, a show I'd desperately like to see: "On July 26, 1982, it was the return of pro wrestling to the Forum in Montreal after six years, after a long period with no major wrestling on television, and until International Wrestling built itself up to that level. They had a super card, with Jean Ferre (as Andre the Giant was known in Montreal even up to that time) vs. Stan Hansen, Bravo vs. Abdullah, Robinson vs. a returning Martel and Raymond Rougeau vs. Patterson. Martel got revenge, winning via count out, on a show that drew 14,175, the largest crowd in the city since the glory days in 1974."
