KrisZ
Kris is joined by Will from Pro Wrestling Only and Pete from the Titans of Wrestling podcast to discuss the legendary career of The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy, Michael “PS” Hayes, & Buddy “Jack” Roberts.) We discuss the beginnings of the group and how they evolved into one of the most legendary acts in wrestling history. Listen to us pontificate on the guys from Badstreet U.S.A. http://placetobenation.com/exile-on-badstreet-1-the-life-times-of-the-fabulous-freebirds/
Matt D
Haven't heard this yet but I hope part 1 is just Pringle and Hayes watching Gulf Coast together.
shoe
I will say that KrisZ does an incredible breakdown of the Freebirds as a team. The level of detail is amazing. I've never been on a show where I've been awed at the level of knowledge someone brings in such detail. This is a can't miss podcast. Matt D
It's a damn shame Tenay stole the professor title. With Solie dead, Kris Z can be the Dean of PWO.

JerryvonKramer
A welcome addition to the PWO-PTBN network this, KrisZ was really part of the regular crew on rotation anyway, so it made sense for him to have his own vehicle. V. interested to listen.
Matt D
Is the Vehicle called "Ladies and Gentle,en, I present you with...."
KrisZ
Nope "Exile on Badstreet" is the name.
bradhindsight
It's a cool name for sure. I echoed the same thing on Twitter earlier, Parv. We've always been fortunate to have Kris be an active part of the site with the reaction shows, and numerous guest spots on the PWO-PTBN feed. Then Pete shoots me a message last night that he's wrapping a Zellner (!) show on the Freebirds and, well, that was pretty exciting all around. Welcome aboard my friend. KrisZ
Yeah I am grateful for the PTBN guys to host this and I plan on having some really great shows in the future with a wide variety of topics and guests.
Superstar Sleeze
Fifty minutes in, I have already learned so fucking much and I did a podcast on the Freebirds in Georgia! Love the tidbits on the Freebirds in Mempho and have added that to need to track down.

Karl
This and the news of an upcoming NWA Classics network has made this day pretty damn awesome. Cant wait to listen.
BigBadMick
This and the news of an upcoming NWA Classics network has made this day pretty damn awesome. Cant wait to listen. What's this? Essentially a New Japan World, WWE Network type service. No idea what type of footage will be on it although most think a lot of 70's/80's Houston. KrisZ
Time was getting real long so we had to cut short on the Hayes/Garvin era of the Birds but they were treated like a joke most of that run anyway.
Matt D
I'm only an hour in but I was hoping for a long discussion on Big Daddy Dink.
KrisZ
Yeah we never mentioned the fact that they lost the WCW Tag Titles before they won them on TV either
Johnny Sorrow
You should just do a show called Exile On Badstreet from now on just about The Freebirds. Do a half hour to an hour show on just one match and segments with guests. Basically, The Freebirds Podcast. There's a wealth of footage and things to talk about. It could be a running series. Shit, I listen to a show called Star Wars minute where guys do a podcast where each show they talk about one minute of screen time from a Star Wars movie. WingedEagle
45 minutes in and I love it. Couple questions: 1) How much prep / research went into getting ready for this show? 2) What topics are you considering for subsequent episodes? Couple questions: 1) How much prep / research went into getting ready for this show? 2) What topics are you considering for subsequent episodes? Show prep for me was about 30 minutes....a lot of this was by memory. Other topics will be historical and current...not giving away my secrets

JerryvonKramer
Great show Kris. I can't remember it exactly now, but when we did the GCW Titans shows, I worked out the timeline of the bookers. They had a series of very short runs. It's something like: Ernie Ladd in 1979 (under Ole) Ole in 1980 Watts / Buck Robley for 8 weeks in late 80 (booking UWF same time) Robert Fuller in 81 George Scott actually had a little run in here in 81 after Fuller Ole Anderson from late 81 till the end (booking Crockett at same time until Dory in 82-3)
KrisZ
Robley booked in 1981 that's when Brody and Patera came in through him. Robley also had the book for a short time in 1983 also when Brody was around....notice the trend
