peachchaos
Thornton was pretty far down on my list, even at this point.
KrisZ
Les Thornton worked Georgia a lot over the years and was always booked credibly well
goc
I wasn't shitting on him, just didn't have him on the radar for a Southwest fit. Without Embry or Bobby Fulton I scrapped the idea of a Light Heavyweight division.
Dylan Waco
That promo about shooting Bob Armstrong  I am so glad me and Boon are sharing Jody Hamilton. I want to see Boon book him as The Flame and I get to book him as The Assassin.  I think people have under valued the idea of a joint share agreement anyway. Some guys, even really good ones, are only going to have value for 3-6 months and then you need to move them on.  There are agreements of that ilk that others are working on. goc
Obviously Duggan is the perfect fit for Portland, I can't see any problems with it. You should do a 50/50 with me on Duggan & Embry.
goc
Oh and now that they are both gone I will say that Matt D floated a Buddy Roberts/Rip Rogers fake nephew thing that almost fucked up my draft board.
rainmakerrtv
I had an idea for Brooks but wasn't going to push for him to be an upcoming pick.
TravJ1979
I made out my list from RD10-RD32 thinking surely after RD15 nobody would pick anybody on my list. I was wrong.
Dylan Waco
In terms of star power, the Baron is a good pick for this late in the draft.
goc
Oddly enough, I just found a pick of El Gran Apollo & Ken Lucas together if anyone was wondering who Lucas was also
goc
Damn it. Darsow was my #1 candidate for Assassin #
Beast
Hesitated because I knew I would upset Will.
Flyin' Brian
Probably a lot of "Who?" on the El Gran Apollo pick but Mr. Joe Blanchard has giant plans to make this young man the next big Spanish speaking star of the wrestling world! Â Â I probably fucked up NO ONE'S list with my last 2 picks except possibly take some names off the very bottom but I couldn't be happier at getting both these guys who factor heavily into my plans. He reminds me of somebody. Tony Danza?
Dylan Waco
At this point im worrying much less. My sleeper and backup are still on the board, plus my other 4 "wants." It's feasible I could end up with half of them.
goc
Having watched some matches I legitimately do not think it's crazy to push him as the 3rd or 4th babyface act in a promotion as small as Southwest was. I was trying to be somewhat realistic before just taking him because "well he's young and speaks Spanish"
Grimmas
I still have a huge list of acceptable undercard talent, even though I am sitting out of round 9-10. My top of the card is set, my money is made. No big deal for the rest if it isn't great. Â Plus remember my Maple Leaf Gardens shows has two WWF matches on them and my Halifax Forum show is half Montreal talent. No need for a super deep talent pool in Toronto. dedhemingway
I have four guys I *really* want, but I don't think they have as much value to anyone else, then two guys I'd like to get but don't 'need'.
goc
One of my favorite things in TEW is to take a brand new guy who looks like they might be able to make some money eventually and slowly build them up from scratch. El Gran Apollo gives me the chance to do that like some people may envision doing with Tom Pritchard or Tim Horner but Southwest had slightly different needs than the standard white meat babyface. Â He was probably, and this is from limited viewing, further along than Horner was in July, 1983 also. Not sure on Tom Pritchard.
Dylan Waco
Prichard was better than Apollo in 83 in my view.
goc
I wouldn't argue for Apollo there really. Tom had been wrestling a lot at that point even if he wasn't very high on the card. I probably could have found a better comparison to make Apollo look better like Rotunda. Â Question for Boricua or Dylan: Is Apollo too big to use as a Light Heavyweight? Some pictures he looks thicker than others.
Dylan Waco
Looking like I will get to pick no one today and tomorrow is a TERRIBLE day for me to be on the clock twice which is very possible. Get ready for some LONG delays fellas
goc
At this point I've gotten almost all my "man I really want him!" picks so I'm less anxious about getting to my next pick. I still would like to get a really good Assassin #2. Â I may have to work out a trade deal instead for him as my first Assassin #2 is probably only a 3 month guy anyway.
