Cap
My buddy is going to 10 shows over the weekend or something stupid like that. He lurks here for the most part and since I didn't write it I will just plug what he did. He posted a rundown of what he is doing and looking forward to on our blog (link in sig). I will probably watch a decent amount of Evolve this weekend and obvious Takeover and Mania. It should be a load of fun.
Grimmas
There's also the Progress iPPV live on WWN on Friday evening, midday local time... Fucking hell, this is ridiculous. Is Chikara live streaming their shows too?
Tim Evans
I'm planning on going to at least 5 shows next week. Spring break, Punk Pro wrestling(not a IPPV), CZW, A lucha show with guys like Silver King, Willie mack and Original GRONDA and of course Mania. I think there is something like 64 shows going on in Orlando and the surrounding area between Tuesday and the following Monday. That's insane. Lots of those shows are gonna lose a lot of money but I guess it's worth it given all the talent that's gonna be in the area.
Web Conn
I'm going to Hall of Fame, Wrestlecon, Supercard of Honor and of course Wrestlemania.
Boon
This is my current schedule from the sofa... (All UK Times). Friday - 1am Evolve (Watch Friday) Friday - 5am Spring Break (Fill a gap) Friday - 5pm Progress Friday - 9pm Evolve Saturday - 1am Hall Of Fame Saturday - 5am Beyond (Watch Saturday) Sunday - 1am WWN Supershow Sunday - 1am NXT (watch Sunday morning) Sunday - 7pm FIP Sunday - 10pm Wrestlemania I want to watch CZW but don't know if it's live anywhere or how quick it'll be uploaded on to their site. I may watch ROH live if it's cheaper on FITE TV than iPPV, but begrudge paying $30 for a show these days, $15 for Progress is fine... Edwin
My wife is awesome and is turning into a fan and is stoked for WM, so I told her if she'd come with me to other events as she went with me to an EVOLVE show in Orlando some months ago and she enjoyed the heck out of it so she accepted. So our schedule for WM weekend: 1. EVOLVE 80 - Thursday 2. CHIKARA Turn Left - Friday 3. The Wrestling Revolver - Saturday at noon 4. ROH Supercard of Honor - Saturday afternoon 5. WWE WrestleMania 33 - Sunday I was contemplating going to CZW BOTB to watch Penta 0M namely and so we wouldn't have to drive to Lakeland for ROH, but my wife preferred to drive to Lakeland instead of watching some random dude in CZW get his faced carved up or some gruesome unnecesarry spot. Also Penta 0M will be at the Wrestlig Revolver and Jeff Cobb, so all's good for me. NXT was also a probability if tickets weren't as expensive for re-sale on Stub Hub and the card wasn't as weak as it is on paper. Not going to RAW or SDL because I'm sure I'll be burnt out by then. hammerva
Right now the plans are Thursday - EVOLVE 80 and Janela show Friday - Revolution Pro & Wrestlecon SuperShow Saturday - Wrestling Revolver & CZW Sunday - Probably the Hardy's event & Mania I thought I was finished but PROGRESS finally decided to announce matches for their Friday show and damn that is looking good. If I go to the show then I will have absolutely no time for anything not wrestling this weekend. I am so jealous of people who are going there on a Tuesday or Wednesday so they can actually enjoy the area.
clintthecrippler
I am doing the Janela show on Thursday night and MAYBE the Pancakes and Piledrivers show on Saturday afternoon, as well as Wrestlemania and Raw. Going to spend the rest of the weekend exploring the city and outer areas. As much as I love wrestling I just can't imagine traveling to a city and spending the entire weekend cooped up in armories and ballrooms. Edwin
The wrestling starts tonight. There's actually a show in Orlando tonight. The Orlando Sentinel has a schedule: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/wrestling/os-wrestlemania-week-schedule-of-events-20161223-story,amp.html Also Jake Roberts will be at the Improv in International Drive on Thursday. Coffey
I tweeted that if Cody Rhodes Vs. Jay Lethal in the Texas Bullrope Match at Glory for Honor is boring, I'm totally done with Cody Rhodes as a performer. Cody Rhodes favorited it... and it made me feel like shit. lol. Even if it is an automated thing that just favorites any mention of his name. Dude is boring/bland though. When he left WWE, I remember reading all over Wreddit about how he was going to tear up the Indies and I was like "really?" Then he went to NJPW and was boring/bland there too. I dunno, man. Dude is whack. But his brother & dad set the bar pretty damn high. His brother in the work department and his dad in the charisma/drawing department. Really excited for all of the festivities this weekend though. If you're a professional wrestling fan, this is the time of the year that you're waiting on for the rest of the year. Did y'all see that Bryan Alverez tried to say that Wrestlemania is "just a bunch of matches thrown together at the last minute." I thought that was humorous as most of the matches have been building for quite some time. Especially Goldberg/Lesnar, Owens/Jericho, Orton/Wyatt. I do feel bad for Braun though. Ever since the brand split and going to RAW he's been money. Now he's just going to be in the Battle Royal, which kinda sucks. Same for Big Show. Went from having a marquee match-up with Shaquille O'Neal, that he got into great shape for, to just being in the Battle Royal when Shaq pulled out. Sucks. I hope they both make the best of it though. Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm excited for this weekend.
Edwin
I'm jealous of you guys going to the Joey Janela show. I wish I could stick around after the EVOLVE show for that, but I can't my wife and I have to work on Friday morning.
Edwin
Riding back home from EVOLVE 80... My wife and me really dug the heck out of Keith Lee v. Ricochet and Matt Riddle v. Drew Galloway. The Gatekeepers squash was quite enjoyable too for what it was. The rest was what it was. Keith Lee v. Ricochet reminded me of those old Makahn Singh v. Owen Hart matches I saw years ago from Stampede. May not be the best comparison, but it's the first thing that popped into my head. I wish they would've put this match on later down the card as I even I got exhaused after it was done and it was a hard act to follow. MOTN imo. Riddle v. Galloway was quite intense and a lot more one sided than I would've preferred, but it was a great way to start the card as it was kept short. That piledriver table bump from the apron to the floor was brutal. I could do without Galloway's rambling before the match though.
Lee
I didn't see all of the Spring Break show but I liked more of what I saw than on the typically po-faced Evolve show (weird low-rent Undertaker bodybag angle aside). I mean, Glacier vs. Dink the Clown in a battle royal, VIRGIL running in wearing a Rey Mysterio mask that wasn't fooling anyone, and Marty Jannetty doing a Canadian Destroyer at 53! El McKell
Joey Jannela's Spring Break featured what was by far the best Dan Severn match i've ever seen
clintthecrippler
Last night while in the arena live I did wonder about how things would have turned out for Severn if the indy landscape in 95 was as friendly to hard-nosed mat wrestling/MMA influence as it is today. Obviously he wouldn't have the charisma to be a phenom like Riddle is now but I could easily see him in a similar position to Timothy Thatcher. Jmare007
I thought this was really interesting. Kurt and Bryan talking about how they would've approached a match between them and trying to explain why they didn't take the smartest decisions when it came to their healths. I'd love to see the full conversation as it's clear it was edited to be shorter than 10 minutes.
Edwin
Driving to Lakeland for ROH yesterday after Pancakes and Piledrivers was the worst idea I've had all weekend. What an uninteresting, unengaging event that was. I realized if you don't follow ROH currently, it's hard to get into. The constant fan overreactions to everything just made things far worse. Pancakes and Piledrivers has been by far the most entertaining event I've been to all weekend aside from the obnoxious "This is wrestling!" chants during Ricochet vs. Shane Strickland. van_Fair
I'm watching the ACW show on Floslam right now and its wonderful indy sleaze. Overall I would say it has been a really good mania weekend in terms of quality of each show. All of the major shows of the weekend have delivered so far and in the past there would be at least one that would disappoint massively. hammerva
Watch six other shows besides Wrestlemania this weekend. Basically didn't do many things in Orlando that wasn't wrestling. Should have come in a day or so earlier. In no particular order here are my favorite non WM matches: 1. Keith Lee vs Riccohet EVOLVE 80 - if there was one guy that made the most impact it was Keith Lee as he has great matches all weekend. I heard that Keith Lee vs Dijak was even better. Keith is a massive guy but really quick in the ring and just a ton of personality. Riccohet was all over the place as well and had some so many fun matches 2. Team Osprey vs Team Riccohet Wrestlecon SuperShow - if you have ever complained in the last couple years about both guys then you are going to hate this match. If you like these two then this was the most incredible example of their methods. Guys like Lio Rush, Jason Cade, ACH, Sami Callihan, Drew Galloway, AR Fox, Marty Scurill and a ton of others just doing hundreds of kicks and hundreds of multiple man spots. The best example of this was four guys doing a shooting star press while Sami does a tombstone piledriver in the middle of the ring. Even had a Soul Train dance off. 3. Matt Riddle vs Dan Severn Janela Spring Break - yes two guys working a quasi MMA style at 3 in the morning on Thursday. Severn really looked good with some nice throws. Loved the ground work. I know that Dan works in places like AIW so there was no real rust. 4. Riccohet vs Shane Strickland - Pancakes & Piledrivers - Strickland worked a lot of places including Low Ki at Wrestlecon and was in the finals of CZW Best of the Best but I thought this was his best performance from what I saw. Of course they have faced each other many times. A guy that has gotten so better since Lucha Underground. 5. Joey Janela vs Marty Janetty - this was an incredible job by Janela taking a guy who was completely fucked up in Janetty in a solid match. Tons of bells and whistles including about 4 or 5 ref bumps, Virgil coming out in a mask to attack Janela, the eventual Earl Hebner run in, and much more. Just a really fun match that probably had no business to be thanks to the insanity of Janela
Tim Evans
Went to 8 shows this weekend. I planned for 9 but the promoter of the Lucha show canceled day of and had a lot of pissed off wrestlers at the building. My non Mania matches of the weekend are Lee/Dijak from Evolve 81, Martin Stone vs Dominic Garnini from Punk Pro, Ethan Case vs Curt Stallion vs Joe Gacy from Punk pro, Janela/Jannetty and the crazy as hell 8 man match at Pancakes and Piledrivers. I'm not sure if anyone of the Punk Pro shows will be uploaded to youtube but they were really fun. Especially night two.
