NXT Takeover: Orlando

Not much buzz for this one. I'm definitely not a fan of the formula of running main event rematches that follow decisive victories in the first match but it seems to be the only way they know how to book. That said, I don't see why this won't be an entertaining show, they always are. Tag should be great and I'm interested to see how they book Asuka vs Moon.

All-action opener with Ohno as the fill in for Jose. Dillinger is so ridiculously over. When he finally wins the pop will be gigantic

I'm pretty sure Almas is probably the best man in NXT right now in the singles game. He's so much better as a heel.

Well, the entrance for Tommy End was awesome, but man it felt like Almas took way too much of the match and it went too long for the debut of the hot new guy. I don't know what the crowd was chanting for when Black took it, but they certainly seemed to have checked out of the match.

I'd be so happy if DIY and Revival team up to take out AOP and then give us one last run of those 4 against each other.

Somehow the Nigel screw up didn't surpass ring announcer botching the AOP entrance to epic levels.

They're working this like a DIY/Revival match with Giant Props. Authors of Pain are sort of like an obstacle course the two teams have to go through. It's kind of amazing, actually.

They've done an amazing job in this making the AOP feel like a terrifying threat, while DIY and Revival look like incredibly talented people who just can't hang with them physically.

That might not have been the peak of the NXT tag division, but it might be close. And if Revival are leaving, it's probably only downhill from here. But holy fuck, whoever has put together the Revival/DIY series needs a lot of money.

It's interesting, since there's a legitimate claim Asuka's best opponent on the Indies was Ember, at least on the US side.. It feels like there chemistry from the indies is playing here, cause this is the best Asuka has looked like in a big match so far.

Yep, that's the best Asuka singles performance in over a year, and Ember comes out looking outstanding, and much more legitimate then she was before the match. I had no expectations for this Takeover, but I'm having a blast.

The key is long term stories like the tag scene and Asuka's slow turn as she gets more and more arrogant. Love it

Nak and Roode continue to have zero chemistry. I really hope there aren't another 3 months of rematches.

It took a while to get going but I thought the main was great once the dual limb selling kicked in and it was about who had the last drop of gas left in the tank to pull out the win

I loved me some Gargano in that tag match.

 

I commented on Twitter that the main event felt very Japanese but needed more head dropping. And then they did some scary looking head drops, especially that final DDT that won the match.
