Ricky Jackson
Coincidentally this just dropped today
Mad Dog
On 4/21/2021 at 11:49 AM, Superstar Sleeze said: Were people aware Chicago Film Archives after being dormant for years uploaded more footage in this past year...2 ladies' matches, a Thesz Match, a Hans Schmidt, and Verne Gagne match? Yes! That women's match is really solid and shows how much of a joke women's wrestling eventually became.
Jetlag
There's no 30s footage listed in the post, even though we used to have a Google Drive with a bunch of 1930s material. It seems that folder is gone now, does anyone have a backup?
Ricky Jackson
Some recently unearthed MLG footage from the 60s, including Buddy Rogers vs Bruno Sammartino from 1962. Pretty cool. Hopefully we get some gems from this stuff
Matt D
Hopefully something substantial.
Shrike02
This does look like a pretty interesting find, it would be nice to see if we can help get this into circulation and available within the community.
Ricky Jackson
Here's the full card for that Aug 62 MLG show to give us an idea of what the footage might look like https://www.wrestlingdata.com/index.php?befehl=shows&show=118211 Pretty standard undercard, but personally I'm intrigued by a young Stan Stasiak and some Sweet Daddy Siki footage because there isnt a lot out there
Phil Schneider
Do we think it is complete matches, or just short clips?
Ricky Jackson
I just asked the person with the reels, so we'll see. Here's some highlights
Ricky Jackson
I'm guessing probably more like the Garbage Tapes but who knows
Matt D
They just responded with this: so, something to learn certainly, but don't think we'll be getting any full gems here. I mean, every moment of Johnny Valentine footage is worth having so I won't complain.

Matt D
Just proof that we are equally as dogged about getting new footage. They did say in the thread they're going to post this stuff for free to everyone though.
Al
The Bruno/Brower snippet posted was interesting. I'm really curious to see more Sweet Daddy Siki footage. He's a guy whose fame today doesn't nearly match his contemporary appeal.
Al
Wrestling Maple Leaf Gardens 1964 Brower Siki Whipper Valentine Bruno Sheik etc. - YouTube Ten minutes in and this is certainly appealing to fans of the Scufflin' Hillbillies. Shrike02
The 1962 footage from the same channel is now up.
Ricky Jackson
Yes, was coming here to post this. 3 videos of 60s MLG have been posted. The first two are of the 62 footage, about 35 mins (alas, just 1:12 of Bruno vs Buddy). There is also a video of 1964 MLG, featuring apparently the Toronto debut of the Sheik. So that's historically significant if nothing else
