spaldoni
Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling TV @WTBS Studios aired 12-7-85 Tony Schiavone: Hello everybody and welcome to Mid Atlantic championship wrestling, with me is David Crockett. Well David, Starrcade is around the corner and we have a huge announcement to kick off the show. David Crockett: Yes we do. Fans as you know Starrcade will be held in two cities, Quebec and Greensboro. Ric Flair and Rick Martel will headline Quebec in a unification title match. In Greensboro, the main event will be Magnum TA defending the United States title against Tully Blanchard inside a steel cage. Schiavone: A lot of bad blood there. Fans, let's take you to some pre recorded comments from both Magnum and Tully. Pre Recorded Comments Magnum: Tully Blanchard, two things you do best is attack from behind and run. Well guess what? There will be no place to run and you'll have no choice but to face me head on. Because at Starrcade it's you and me inside the steel cage. I couldn't of asked for a better match and I can guarantee you this, I'm going to beat you down in that cage and I'm walking out with this United States title. That's a promise! Tully: Magnum TA, boy you better get ready for the beating of your life. Not only am I the better wrestler but I'm going to show you that I'm the better fighter. After I get done with you in the cage, that US title is going where it belongs, around my waist. The belt needs to be around the waist of a class act and a boy like you doesn't qualify. Back in the Studio Crockett: That should be quite a fight as those two collide in the cage at Starrcade. Fans lets go to the ring as Terry Taylor makes his television debut. Terry Taylor vs. Italian Stallion Stallion gets in some offense but Taylor ends up putting on a wrestling clinic. He works over Stallion with some knee drops then puts him up and back with a hanging suplex. Taylor works on the arm then finishes him off with the elevated chicken wing. Commercial Break Schiavone: Fans with me right now are the number one contenders to the NWA world tag team titles, Ole and Arn Anderson. Well gentlemen, you defiantly earned your title match at Starrcade. Arn: Schiavone, Starrcade will be a glorious night for the four horsemen. Ric Flair is going to walk out of Quebec, the unified champion. Tully Blanchard is going to beat Magnum senseless and walk out with the US title and we're going to put those freak monsters down and walk out with the NWA tag team titles. In 1986, the 4 Horsemen are going to run and rule the NWA. Ole: You're looking at the Minnesota wrecking crew and I think we proved what a wrecking crew we are as we ran over the competition in the tournament. As for the Creatchman goons, I'm not going to yell and scream, I'm just going to tell you how it is. We're coming to Starrcade to win the NWA titles, plain and simple. We're going to hurt you and show you what tag team wrestling is all about. Then the NWA will be represented by a true tag team and not a couple of freaks. The Andersons hold up 4 fingers and walk out. Schiavone: Ok there you have it. Fans in the near future we will crown new US tag team champions. Lets go to the ring as I'm sure this team will want a shot at those titles. Moondogs vs. Dusty Wolfe/Ray Apollo The Moondogs take turns mauling their opponents with body slams, choke holds and pummeling. The end comes when Spot hits Wolfe with a backbreaker, holds him there as Rex comes off the 2nd turnbuckle with an elbow drop for the pin. Commercial Break Ray Stevens vs. Tiger Chung Lee Tiger Chung Lee is standing in the ring but Gary Hart is nowhere to be found. The bell rings and Lee attacks Stevens from behind. Lee controls the early part of the match with some karate thrusts. Stevens gets fired up and comes back with a flurry of fists. Stevens body slams Lee, then gets up on the 2nd turnbuckle and crashes down with the Bombs Away and gets the pin. Crockett: Big win for Ray Stevens. With me right now is the current Mid-Atlantic champion, Pete Dougherty. Pete you've been on quite the roll here. What's next for you? Dougherty: David Crockett, I think I've proven to everybody that the Duke of Dorchester is the greatest Mid Atlantic champion off all time. I'm out here to make the biggest announcement concerning Starrcade. I'm here to issue an open challenge to defend my title at Starrcade against any wrestler brave enough to get into the ring with me. Crockett: Are you sure you want to do that? Dougherty: Do I look like a man who's unsure? The Duke of Dorchester fears no man and at Starrcade I will cement my legacy as the greatest Mid Atlantic champion off all time! Crockett: Wow, ok, at Starrcade, Pete Dougherty will have an open Mid Atlantic title match. Unbelievable. Fans when we come back we're going to show you the footage from Montreal and then hear from the NWA Champ himself, Ric Flair. Commercial Break Schiavone: Fans, please welcome out the NWA world champion, Ric Flair. Flair: Whooooo! Oh Tony Schiavone, it's so hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way. I'm talk'n about yours truly, the Natcha boy! Schiavone: Ok well just stay here as we show the fans what transpired in Montreal. Footage from Montreal The footage starts where Matt Borne uses a taser on Rick Martel. Flair puts Martel in the figure four as Borne pummels away on Martel. Bruno Sammartino and officials break it up. Flair goes under the timekeepers table and pulls out a bag then hands it to Borne. Back in the Studio Schiavone: Very questionable actions from a world champion. However I think you should get your money back because from what I understand you just added fuel to a fired up Rick Martel. I mean what are you doing placing a bounty on his head anyways? Flair: Schiavone, it's all a part of the business we're in and if Ricky Martel has a lot of enemies who want to take him out for a little cash, well then that's his problem. Hey if he can't take it then maybe he doesn't deserve to be a world champion, let alone be in this business. Now listen up little Ricky. At Starrcade you're getting into the ring with the most premier dominant athlete in wrestling today and the bottom line is, you just don't measure up kid. Schiavone: Ok. I've got to ask, the other 3 horsemen will be in Greensboro while you're in Quebec. How's that going to affect things? Flair: This is how its going to go. I'm going to beat little Ricky in his home country. Then I'm going to hold both belts up high in front of his home crowd. Next I'm going to fly back to the States and meet up with the US champ, Tully Blanchard and the tag champs, the Andersons. Then we're going to party all night long, horsemen style. WHOOOOOO! Schiavone: Well, I think he might be taking the WCCW champion, Rick Martel a little to lightly. We'll see what happens at Starrcade as Flair and Martel battle to unify the titles. I know I'm excited that on that night a true NWA unified champion will be crowned. Lets go to the ring for another team that I'm sure wants to be US tag team champions. The Irwins vs. Pete Sanchez/Terry Gibbs The Irwins have no problem with their opponents tonight as they plow through them. Bill stomps away on Sanchez then body slams him down. He tags in Scott. The end comes when the Irwins swing Sanchez to the ropes and nail him with a double clothesline for the easy pin. Commercial Break Crockett: Before we go to the ring for our TV title main event, I want to tell you fans that next week we will show you a special Piper's Pit that happened in WCCW. Let me tell you, it's a must see. Ok fans lets go to the ring. TV Title Bout Sam Houston © vs. Rene Goulet Houston starts off hot with a series of arm drag take downs. Goulet gets frustrated and rakes the eyes then follows with some kicks and choke holds. Houston gets back the momentum and starts firing away on Goulet with some forearm smashes. Houston swings Goulet hard into the turnbuckles. Houston clamps on a headlock then drops Goulet with a running bulldog and pin to retain his TV title. Schiavone: Solid win for the television champion. I want to bring Sam Houston over here for a word. Sam congratulations on your victory. Houston: Well thank you Tony, you know ever since I won this here title I've been gaining more and more confidence. There's a commotion in the crowd as Terry Taylor walks over to the podium. Taylor: You know, I made my debut here tonight and I have to ask, why doesn't a wrestling star like myself get an interview? I don't know what's going on but I guess I'll just have to take this time and say what I want to say. Schiavone: Hold on a sec Terry Taylor, this is television champion Sam Houston's time. Taylor: I'm glad you mentioned that Schiavone. I mean what kind of a champion is this kid? Just look at him. I mean look at me, I look like a wrestling champion. Houston: I'll tell you what Mr. Taylor, if you want to find out what kind of champion I am, we can get it on next week, here in the studio. Taylor: That's what I like, a kid with guts. Taylor gently slaps Houston on the face a couple times. Houston pushes Taylor's hand away then slaps him hard. Houston: I'll see you next week Mr. Taylor. Schiavone: (Smiling as he's looking at Taylor holding his cheek) Ok fans next week it will be Sam Houston defending his TV title against Terry Taylor. We'll be right back. Commercial Break Crockett: Before we go, I want to remind the fans that at Starrcade, Greensboro will host the annual two ring battle royal. Wrestlers from all over the NWA are coming to Greensboro to compete in the prestigious Starrcade battle royal. This should be the biggest battle royal in the history of the National Wrestling Alliance. Names will be announced next week. Also don't forget next week we will show you footage from the wild Piper's Pit in Texas and then we'll have comments from the Hot Rod himself. All I can say is Starrcade is heating up and you wont want to miss it. Fans we'll see you next week.
spaldoni
Hey everybody, sorry if this show seems lacking in some detail. I wanted to get something out there to get the build for Starrcade going. As I settle in, the shows will have a better flow.
SirEdger
No worries, you're getting started. It's perfectly normal to take some time before you find your stride. Along the way, you're gonna find the exact format. Another thing that LowBlow probably didn't have time to mention: for squash matches, if you want to, you can use random jobbers (name generators are pretty useful lol) rather than jobber packs. It frees up roster space if you want to add more talent on your roster. But it's up to you, do as you feel comfortable with.
spaldoni
Right on, thanks for the useful tip

LowBlowPodcast
I really like the format with the discussion from Tony and the wrestlers throughout. This is easy to read and easy to follow. You will have a lot of moving pieces with your roster over the next couple of weeks but Starrcade will be something to behold. dawho5
Great build-up to Starrcade on your first show. I like putting Houston and Taylor together right away. Sam Houston seems to be getting a much better push wherever he ends up than he ever did in the real world.
gordi
Way to jump right in at the deep end. I'm looking forward to reading more build-up for Starrcade.

spaldoni
NWA Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling @WTBS Studios aired 12-14-85 Tony Schiavone: Hello again everybody and welcome to another edition of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, with me is David Crockett. Well David, Starrcade is upon us and we have a big show in store for the fans today. David Crockett: Yes we do Tony. As we all know Ric Flair will be wrestling Rick Martel in Quebec in a World Title unification match. This match has been brewing since the Great American Bash. Let's here some pre recorded comments from both men. Pre Recorded Comments Rick Martel: Ric Flair, you put a bounty on my head, you shelled out a lot of money to a lot of dangerous people but guess what? After all of that, I'm still standing! You didn't get the job done, but at Starrcade I can assure you and all the fans, I'll get the job done and I'll be walking out of Starrcade with both titles! Ric Flair: Oh Ricky Martel, we've only just begun. You've been whining and crying about the bounty and because of that you pulled some strings to have this match in Quebec. At Starrcade, pal, you're going to find out why I'm the greatest wrestler walking the face of the earth. Oh I'm going to savor that moment when I'm holding up both titles in front of your home crowd. You're out of your league Ricky and you're going to find out why Starrcade was made for Ric Flair! WHOOOOOO! Back Live Schiavone: Strong words from both men. History will no doubt be made at Starrcade. Well fans, in action today will be US champ Magnum TA, number one contenders to the NWA tag team titles, the Andersons, Mid Atlantic Champ Pete Doherty, NWA 6 man champs, the Hart brothers and Sam Houston will defend his Television title against Terry Taylor. Crockett: Roddy Piper will also be here live to talk about his WCCW TV title match at Starrcade with Jimmy Garvin. A lot has gone down with those two in Texas and we'll show you footage of that. Fans, let's go to the ring. NWA 6 man Champs The Hart Brothers vs. Bill Smith, Lou Simms and Fred Williams The Harts put on a show for the fans with a variety of scientific wrestling and aerial moves. Owen finishes the match with a sunset flip on Simms for the pin. The Harts look prime and ready to defend their titles at Starrcade against the Kiwi Sheepherders and Bam Bam Bigelow. Commercial Break Crockett: Fans, please welcome out the Hot Rod, Roddy Piper! The fans roar as Roddy Piper makes his way to the podium. Crockett: Ok Roddy, after everything that went down in Texas, it's now official, you will be wrestling Jimmy Garvin at Starrcade for his WCCW TV title. Let's take a look at some footage. Footage is shown from WCCW of the confrontation between Eric Embry and Roddy Piper. They have an impromptu match where if Embry doesn't last 5 minutes with Piper then Piper gets the title shot at Starrcade. Embry only lasts seconds as Bad News Allen distracts him and Piper rolls up Embry for the quick victory. Piper: You see what happens when Garvin sends out a boy to do a man's job! Now that that is taken care of, it's time for the Hot Rod to take care of the real business. At Starrcade, I'm going to beat Jimmy Garvin, then I'm going to take his TV title and I might even take his lady while I'm at it. Crockett: Watch out! Eric Embry and Jimmy Garvin attack Piper from behind. They put the boots to him as Precious walks around spraying air freshener. Embry grabs Piper's arms from behind. Garvin takes off his TV title belt and holds it up. "You want a shot at this title! Well here you go!" Garvin blasts Piper across the head with his belt! The fans boo as Garvin and Embry look down at a bleeding Piper. Commercial Break Crockett is standing with Garvin, Embry and Precious. Crockett: Just what was the meaning of that? Garvin: Hey, it's not my fault. That idiot comes over to my show. That's right, I hold this here WCCW Television title, so that makes it my show. He insults my friend Eric, he insults me and most of all, he insults my woman. He gets a cheap and fluke win over Eric and now he thinks he deserves a shot at my title. Piper, I'm the better wrestler and I'm the better man. At Starrcade I'm going to take pleasure it beating you up right in front of my main squeeze here. Embry pats Garvin on the back as Precious gives him a kiss. Crockett: Ok if it's a fight Garvin is looking for, then he found it. Let's go to the ring. Mid Atlantic Champ Pete Doherty vs. Russell Lopes The Duke of Dorchester stomps away on Lopes while he yells at the crowd. Pete continues his onslaught with a series of chokes and eye gouging. Pete runs around the ring doing his usual wild mannerisms then drops an elbow down on Lopes for the pin. He grabs his title and heads over to the podium. Schiavone: Big win for you tonight Duke, well, you look ready for your open challenge at Starrcade. Aren't you the least bit concern of who your opponent might be? Pete: Why should I be concerned? I'm the greatest Mid Atlantic champion in the history of the world! After Starrcade I want a statue put up right here in my honor! Pete storms out of there yelling. Schiavone: (Smiling) I'm not sure what to make of all that. Fans when we come back, a match for the NWA TV Title Commercial Break NWA TV Title Bout Sam Houston © vs. Terry Taylor Houston looks focused as Taylor arrogantly walks around the ring. Things are pretty clean for the first few minutes as they exchange headlock take overs, arm drags, and some mat wrestling. Things get heated when they're against the ropes and the ref asks them to break. Taylor nails Houston with a right hand then takes charge. Taylor uses a variety of suplexes then drops a knee and goes for the pin. Houston kicks out as the fans cheer him on. Taylor tells them to shut up. Houston gets up and nails Taylor with a series of forearm smashes. He swings him to the ropes and hits a clothesline then follows with an elbow drop and cover. Taylor kicks out. Houston body slams Taylor, picks him up and swings him hard into the turnbuckles. Houston clamps on a headlock and gives the signal. Houston runs forward and drops Taylor with a running bulldog! Houston covers as the bell rings. The 10 minute time limit has expired. Houston sits there with his hands on his hips as Taylor rolls out of the ring. The ref goes out and grabs the title then comes back in the ring and hands it to Houston. Houston raises it to the fans. Taylor runs in the ring and hits Houston from behind with a flying knee! Taylor stomps away on Houston's shoulder then picks him up in an elevated chicken wing. Taylor drops him then grabs the title and lays it across his chest. Commercial Break Schiavone: Welcome back fans, well it looks like a war has begun with Terry Taylor and Sam Houston. I just got word from the back that Sam Houston will defend his TV title against Terry Taylor in a no time limit match at Starrcade. Crockett: Add that to the list of great matches set for Starrcade. Speaking of Starrcade, we want to bring out a man who will be competing in the 2 ring battle royal. They call him the 'Young Gun' Tom Brandi. Tom great to have you. I know you and all the other participants want to win the 100,000 dollars and also set yourself up as a potential title contender. Brandi: No doubt about it David. I know I want to make a splash here in the NWA and what better way to do it then by winning the 2 ring Starrcade battle royal. There's a commotion as Paul Jones comes out. Jones: Paul Jones has been rejuvenated and that's bad news for the NWA, because the Paul Jones Army will be in full force come 1986! Right now the army has it's first new member and the man who's going to win the Starrcade battle royal. I'm talking about the Missing Link! The Missing Link comes out. Schiavone: Oh my goodness. Jones: That's right Schiavone! (Looks at Brandi) Sorry kid but you don't have a prayer! Missing Link hits Brandi from behind then grabs him by his hair and hurls him into the ring. Link stomps away on Brandi then grabs him again by the hair and hurls him over the top rope. Paul Jones gets into the ring and points at Link with his cane while laughing at Brandi. Commercial Break Ole and Arn Anderson w/ JJ Dillon vs. Trent Murphy and Alex Porter Text book Anderson match as they focus on the arm of Murphy. Ole gets an arm bar on Murphy and twists away. He tags in Arn. Arn climbs to the 2nd turnbuckle and crashes down with a knee on Murphy's arm. Arm twists the arm as Murphy submits. The Andersons motion their hands around their waists, sending a strong message to the Creatchman Family. JJ Dillon stands there with an arrogant smirk. Crockett: Fans, a true tag team dream match has been signed for Starrcade as the Rock n Roll Express will take on the colossal team of Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. Let's take you to a video showcasing both teams. A montage is shown of the Rock N Roll Express using a variety of their double team moves to take down opponents. The video shows them using their signature double drop kick for a victory. The video cuts to Hansen and Brody just brutalizing a series of opponents. At the end of the video, STARRCADE is flashed across the screen. Commercial Break Schiavone: Fans, another special match signed for Starrcade will pit Abdullah the Butcher against Kamala! I don't know how anybody or anything will be able to control that match. Starrcade is a must see folks. Speaking of Starrcade, let's go to the ring as the United States Champion, Magnum TA is set for action. US Champ Magnum TA vs. Larry Riddle Magnum finishes Riddle off quick as he swings him to the ropes and hits the belly to belly suplex for the 1..2..3! Tully Blanchard runs in the ring and jumps Magnum from behind! Both men are rolling around on the ground hitting each other. Magnum starts to get the upper hand when the Andersons, led by JJ Dillon run into the ring. Dillon is telling them to hurt him bad. The Andersons stomp away on Magnum. Tully gets up and joins in and starts slapping Magnum across the face. The fans cheer as Pedro Morales and Ray Stevens run in and chase off the Horsemen. Morales and Stevens attend to Magnum as Tully, the Andersons and Dillon point up and warn them. Schiavone: Boy I think the cage match at Starrcade will be the only way to settle this feud. These men have a real hatred for one another and I don't think either one of them will be the same after Starrcade. Crockett: I couldn't agree more Tony. Fans, you wont want to miss this tremendous event. The history making Starrcade will be held in two different venues as Quebec and Greensboro will play host to this spectacular NWA event. If you can't be there live then you can watch it live on closed circuit television as it will be broadcast live in many different venues across the world. Schiavone: You know David, Starrcade will prove to everybody that the NWA is truly an international promotion. I can't wait for the event. Fans thanks for joining us and we'll see you next time. SirEdger
See, you've already found your stride and you look really comfortable in that format. Another solid show and I think Piper vs Jimmy will be my favorite match coming out of the Greensboro portion of Starrcade!
dawho5
Good buildup to Starrcade on all fronts. I will say that the real Magnum/Tully cage match in 85 is one of my two favorite matches of all time, so I'll be watching.
GeneJackson95
Great format for Mid Atlantic, and the Piper vs. Garvin match gets even more heated! Magnum vs. Blanchard should live up to real life here with the great build up. So many great matches on the Starrcade card but as a kid in '85 I would have been so fascinated with the two "monsters" facing off Kamala vs. Abby! I also would have been severely worried about the chances of my favorite tag team against Brody/Hansen....can't wait to see that one play out. kevinmcfl
What an addition to the game! Another Southern Rasslin promotion to entertain me on a weekly basis. From the run-ins to the feuds, this did exactly what MACW tried to do in the 1980's which is to convince the grown men that these people truly hated each other. No gimmicks needed here! Love it! LowBlowPodcast
I really love what you've done from the ground floor... from top to bottom you are going in the right direction. When we spoke months and months ago about you joining and you weren't sure if you had the ability, whatever you've done since then has proven to be beneficial. You've got a great roster that you are turning into your own. You have got the biggest event of the year coming up. Everything looks to be going in the right direction and that is in a positive way. spaldoni
Mid Atlantic Starrcade Promos for Greensboro Magnum TA: The wait is almost over and your time is up Tully Blanchard. At Starrcade I'm going to prove to the world what I already know, and that you're nothing but a gutless coward. You love attacking me from behind, you love attacking me when it's 3 on 1. Well at Starrcade, when we're locked inside that steel cage, reality is going to come crashing down on you. You will have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide and no friends can help you. You're just going to be left all alone, facing me. You want to take this United States title from me? I'm begging you to come and try! See you in Greensboro. Tully Blanchard: Magnum TA, you're the one who's days are numbered. I can't wait to get inside that cage with you. I'm going to mess up that pretty face of yours when I grind it into that cage. I'm going to give you a beating I promise you'll never forget! Then when I'm done, I'm going to stand over your beaten body, holding my United States title high over my head. Get ready boy, because at Starrcade, you're mine! Arn Anderson: All you people out there are looking at the greatest Tag team in wrestling today, I'm talking about the Minnesota Wrecking Crew! We mowed down all the competition to earn this title shot and at Starrcade we're going to take what belongs to us, the NWA tag team titles! Ole Anderson: It's this simple. At Starrcade, we're going to prove to the wrestling world why we are the best team in wrestling. We're going to go into Greensboro and beat those two freaks from a B monster movie and bring prestige back to the NWA Tag team championships. Pete Doherty: The Duke of Dorchester is the hottest wrestler in the NWA right now. I've defended my Mid Atlantic title against every challenger put forth against me. My confidence is at an all time high and that's why I'm going into Starrcade with an open challenge. I'm going to prove that I can beat anybody, anytime! Terry Taylor: Well here I am and it's only right that I'm in a title match at the biggest show of the year. Young Sam Houston, get ready for the wrestling lesson of your life. I had you beat last time but you were saved by the bell. At Starrcade, we're in a no time limit match so no bell can save you this time. Sam Houston: Putting my TV title on the line in a no time limit match suits me just fine. I know I can beat you Terry Taylor and at Starrcade that's just what I'm gonna do. Roddy Piper: Oh Jimmy Garvin, you've gotten yourself in quite a mess. Now you like to act like a tough guy but I know you're trembling. You're just like everybody else when they're about to face the Hot Rod, which means you're trembling. You're trembling because you're realizing that you have to step in the ring with me at Starrcade and you're trembling because there's no way out of it. What is your lady going to think when she sees her man scared out of his mind? You just better be careful Jimmy, or your lady will end up with the Hot Rod after Starrcade. spaldoni
Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling TV @ WTBS Studio Aired 12-28-85 The show starts off with a highlight montage of Starrcade 85 from both Quebec and Greensboro. The last image is Rick Martel holding up the NWA world title. Schiavone: Hello everybody and welcome to our last televised show of 1985. Well David, Starrcade is in the books and as everybody just saw, history was made. We should tell you that Magnum TA and Tully Blanchard are still out recuperating from their wounds. What a bloodbath that was. Crockett: Boy, you're not kidding, those two went through a war inside that cage. Magnum got his hand raised but I know he's still felling the affects. We're hoping both men get back soon. Well, We have a new NWA world heavyweight champion as Rick Martel defeated Ric Flair in Quebec, in what turned out to be nothing short of a classic. Ric Flair storms out to the podium. Flair: Rick Martel! By sheer miracle you somehow walked out of Starrcade, NWA world champ. Now you get to parade around the world with my title. This is far from over Martel. If you or anybody else thinks Ric Flair is going to just wither away well think again! I am the greatest wrestler walking the face of this planet and I'm going to prove just that. I'm here to say that the Ric Flair is going to take on every top name in the NWA. I don't care if its a Von Erich, I don't care if it's Carlos Colon, I don't care if its Bruiser Brody, Magnum TA, a Rougeau, whoooo! Doesn't matter who it is or where its at. When Ric Flair comes to your town, you better buy a ticket. On January 25th, in Greensboro, the great and legendary Mil Mascaras is gonna find out just what I'm talking about. Get ready NWA because the Nature Boy NWA tour is coming and Ric Flair is taking names. Martel, enjoy your reign because pal, it wont last long. WHOOOOOO! Flair leaves as Schiavone and Crockett are taken aback a moment. Schiavone: Ok, well it looks like the former champ is looking to get back on track. Well fans a few other title changes took place at Starrcade and we'll be hearing from the new champions throughout the program. Right now, lets go to the ring. Pedro Morales vs. Dave D'Arco Morales is pumped up tonight and shows he still has a lot of pep in his step. He swings D'Arco to the ropes and nails him with a punch to the gut then follows with a Caribbean Lift . Morales picks up D'Arco and hits the backbreaker then finishes him off with the Boston Crab. The fans cheer as Morales jumps up and down with clenched fists. Commercial Break Crockett: Fans at Starrcade, the Andersons won the NWA tag team titles from the Creatchman Family. Please welcome out the new NWA Tag Team champions, the Minnesota Wrecking Crew along with JJ Dillon. Arn: Well well well, we hate to toot our own horns but toot toot. We told everybody what we were going to do at Starrcade and we did just exactly that. These titles prove what we already knew and that we are the best tag team in the NWA. It's only a matter of time before Ric Flair gets his world title back and its only a matter of time before Tully is wearing gold. Then the 4 Horsemen will be complete and riding high again. Ole: We went into Starrcade and we took these titles away from those animals. They had no business holding these prestigious titles. I mean, look what that beast did to a civil human being. JJ Dillon comes forward with a neck brace and grimaces in pain. Ole: Don't worry JJ, the titles are in good hands now and you wont have to worry about those savages anymore. Take a good look at what champions look like. I'm daring any team in the NWA to try and take these from us. JJ and the Andersons walk off as Arn holds up 4 fingers while JJ adjusts his neck brace and grimaces again. Crockett: Well speaking of tag teams, the US tag team tournament will begin later this month as tournament matches will be held in different arenas across the MId Atlantic area. A number of teams will be arriving this month to gear up for the tournament. Lets go to the ring as I'm sure these two men want to qualify for that tournament. Devil's Duo (Jeff Sword, Doug Vines) vs. Gale Hutchinson and Norm Ramsey Sword and Vines come out with black vests, black chaps, long hair and beards. The bell rings and they work over their opponents with punches and kicks then throw them out of the ring. The Duo controls the entire match by use a variety of double team maneuvers. Sword body slams Hutchinson then tags in Vines. Sword picks up Hutchinson and holds his arms behind his back as Vines jumps off the top rope and crashes down with a double axe handle to the head. Vines tags in Sword. Sword climbs up to the top rope as Vines lays Hutchinson's body across his knee. Sword comes down with a boot to the face that catapults Hutchinson over. Sword covers for the easy pin. Pre Recorded Comments Ron Fuller: You people out there are looking at the future US tag team champions and I'm talking about myself and my brother Rob. The Fullers are back, the Fullers are united and the Fullers want some of that there gold in MACW. Because my brother and I are used to having gold around our waists. Tell them brother. Rob Fuller: That's exactly right. Now let me assure all of you people something. My brother and I have had our fair share of disagreements and we have been at odds but there is no bond stronger than that of a brother's bond and that's exactly what we're going to show every team in MACW. The Studd Stable is looking to have some fun in 86. Commercial Break Schiavone: Fans, please welcome out the new Mid Atlantic champion, Harley Race. Race comes out with the belt over his shoulder. Schiavone: Well I have to say Mr. Race, you certainly made an impact with your surprise return at Starrcade. One match in Mid Atlantic and you're already a champion. Race: That's right Tony Schiavone. This Mid Atlantic title proves I'm still at the top of my game. While I'm taking on all challengers for this title be sure of one thing, I'm gunning for the world title as well, which means I'm gunning for you Rick Martel. Don't forget our history and I do believe you owe me a title shot. Schiavone: Ok, Harley Race making his intentions known. Fans lets go to the ring. Missing Link w/Paul Jones vs. Rob O'Meara Link just manhandles and overpowers his opponent. Link finishes O'Meara off with the diving head butt and pin. Paul Jones and Missing Link head over to the podium. Crockett: Well Mr. Jones, impressive victory for the Missing Link. Jones: What else would you expect from this man. Just look at him. He's a destructive force, he's a maniac and he isn't afraid of anything. This is just a sample of what my army will bring to Mid Atlantic in 1986. The fans cheer as Tom Brandi comes out. Jones: Ok kid, look, I admire your guts but I think you better get out of here before you get seriously hurt. Link is pacing while grabbing the back of his head. Brandi: I'm not going anywhere. Your maniac here attacks me last week. Then I eliminate him from the Starrcade battle royal and what does he do? He attacks me again. Tom Brandi isn't a punching bag. He wants me? Fine by me. Next week, here on live TV, me and him, one on one, face to face. Let's see how well he does then. Brandi walks off to cheers. Crockett: Well Mr. Jones? Jones: It's his funeral. A Video package hyping Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka Commercial Break Schiavone: Fans, if you haven't heard, the NWA crowned a new Light Heavyweight champion as Chris Benoit won the title in a tournament. Congratulations to Chris Benoit on his well deserved victory. Right now we're going to have a very special match between two top light heavyweights in the NWA. I'm sure both of these guys would like a shot at that title. Mike Graham vs. Roy Lee Welch Pretty good match here as both of these men go toe to toe and show off some solid wrestling. Graham controls a good amount of time with some good scientific wrestling. Welch comes back with a flurry. They exchange a series of forearm shots as the bell rings. The match is declared a 10 minute draw. Crockett: Wow that was a good match up. Ten minutes just isn't enough time for those two. I know I'd like to see a rematch. Ok fans, please welcome out the new Television champion, Terry Taylor. Taylor: Thank you very much David. Crockett: You had a great match with Sam Houston at Starrcade. Sam was a fighting champion and I believe you have something to say about that. Taylor: You know David, this is going to sound crazy but Sam Houston helped clear my head. I have been arrogant in my ways for awhile. I came here with nothing but an arrogant attitude. I take on Sam and he gives me everything he has. That was one tough customer. Then when its all said and done and after all I said and did to him, he hands me this great title and offers me his hand. I have to say, that moment of class and sportsmanship really got to me. It reminded me of why I'm in this business. I'm in this business to be the best and take on the best. Being a wrestler and champion is about ability and not short cuts. I used to know that. Sam Houston reminded me of that. So from here on out, Terry Taylor is going at it with talent and ability. I'm going to be a fighting champion and I want to represent Mid Atlantic well. Crockett: Well, there you have it. Apparently Terry Taylor has changed his ways and I'm happy to hear that. Fans when we come back, returning to the Mid Atlantic, the one and only Rocky Johnson. Commercial Break Rocky Johnson vs. Calvin Parks Rocky has the fans standing up as he takes down Parks with his lightning punches. He follows up with a couple body slams then picks up Parks, swings him to the ropes and nails him with a high drop kick for the pin. Rocky waves to the cheering crowd as he heads over to the podium. Schiavone: Let me be the first to welcome you back to Mid Atlantic championship wrestling. How does it feel? Johnson: Tony it couldn't feel better. Man oh man I feel recharged and rejuvenated. Rocky Johnson is here in MACW and brother I'm here to make an impact! Johnson holds his fist up to the cheering crowd. Schiavone: (smiling) Ok fans there you have it, straight from Rocky Johnson. Crockett: Boy, its great to have Rocky Johnson here. Well fans that does it for this week. Join us next week as we kick off 1986. In action will be a true wrestling great, Bob Backlund. Also in action the MACW debut of David Sammartino. A couple of teams that will be vying for the US tag titles, Mark Youngblood and Cpl. Kirchner. Also the team of Norvell Austin and Sweet Brown Sugar, the Soul Patrol. Missing Link takes on Tom Brandi and Terry Taylor defends his TV title against Iron Mike Sharpe. See you next week and have a happy new year.
kevinmcfl
Very nice show moving forward after Starrcade. I wonder whether Terry Taylor is being honest here in his change of heart.... only time will tell. An angry Nature Boy could mean trouble for everyone else. I wonder how it feels for him now that the Andersons know hold the gold for the 4 Horsemen.
GeneJackson95
Great show! I hope no one thought Ric Flair would just go quietly into the night...it seems Martel has lit a fire in the Nature Boy, he's after everybody!
dawho5
Flair and Taylor really do steal the show here. Looking forward to seeing both deal with their failure and success.
