spaldoni
MACW Great American Bash 86 Update w/ Bob Caudle The Bash Updates will be shown on MACW's broadcasts throughout the month of June Bob Caudle: Hello everybody and welcome to the first Great American Bash update, I'm Bob Caudle and it's great to be here. As you know the NWA will be holding various Great American Bash cards during the month of July. MACW will be presenting their Great American Bash card on July 2nd in Charlotte NC, at the Memorial Stadium. Fans, don't forget to stick around for the fireworks show after this historic event, Big news in the NWA, as Nikita Koloff defeated Rick Martel to win the NWA World Heavyweight title. Fans, Nikita Koloff will defend his newly won championship on July 2nd. More on that in a moment. Regarding the United States Title, the Crockett's feel Hacksaw Jim Duggan deserves another shot at the title. They feel that due to the constant outside interference, Duggan has not had a fair shot. So to make sure there is no interference on July 2nd, Ted Dibiase will defend his US title against Hacksaw Duggan, inside a steel cage! A rematch has been signed for the Mid Atlantic title as 'Mr. Wonderful' Paul Orndorff will defend the title against Harley Race. Harley Race has requested a NO DQ stipulation and Orndorff has accepted. Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley will defend their US tag titles against the winning team of the upcoming tag team battle royal. Already signed for that battle royal is Hot Property, Caspian Empire, Polynesian Power, the Assassins, Rolling Thunder, the Fabulous Blondes, Bar Room Brawlers, the Southern Ramblers, Greatness, and from Lutte, Los Infernales. Jimmy Snuka will defend his National title and Tom Prichard will have a Television title defense. I also received word that Tony St. Clair has issued a challenge to Abdullah the Butcher and Tiger Jeet Singh. St. Clair says he found one heck of a partner. Listen to this blockbuster match just signed, 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes will clash with Stan 'The Lariat' Hansen. As mentioned, Nikita Koloff will be on hand to defend the NWA World Title. Due to our top champions being booked to already defend their titles, the Crockett's have decided that 'The Universal Heartthrob' Austin Idol will wrestle 'The Stud' Rob Fuller and the winner will get a shot at that prestigious championship. Fans, this is shaping up to be one epic event. I'll see you next week for another update and more matches to be announced.

dawho5
That tag team Battle Royal sounds crazy. Duggan vs. DiBiase on the card is a HUGE draw. St. Clair better have found some kind of partner for those opponents. Dusty and Hansen!!! Not sleeping on Orndorff/Race either.

spaldoni
MACW Great American Bash 86 Update w/Bob Caudle Bob Caudle: Hello everybody and welcome to another Great American Bash update. As you know Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling will present it's Great American Bash event on July 2nd in Charlotte, NC at the Memorial Stadium. It should be a tremendous night of action. 'The Million Dollar Man' Ted Dibiase will defend the United States Title against Hacksaw Jim Duggan, inside a steel cage! Newly crowned NWA World Champion Nikita Koloff will defend his title against the winner of the upcoming match between Austin Idol and Rob Fuller, that match will take place on June 7th in Greensboro. US tag team champions, Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley will defend their titles against the winners of the upcoming tag team battle royal. The battle royal will happen this week in Roanoke, VA. Highlights of that battle royal will be shown on the next televised edition of MACW. In what should be a wild match, The American Dream Dusty Rhodes clashes with Stan The Lariat Hansen. As you know, Ted Dibiase has put a bounty on Dusty Rhodes, and I know Stan Hansen is coming to collect. Last week, the battle lines were drawn and this match is set. Canadian International Champ Don Kernodle and the Caspian Empire will take on Corporal Kirchner and his allies, Jacques and Raymond Rougeau. A lot of history and hatred between all those involved. 'Mr. Wonderful' Paul Orndorff defends the Mid Atlantic title against former champ Harley Race, in a No Disqualification Match. This has been one heated rivalry and I can only hope this match will settle things once and for all. Just announced, Rip Oliver accompanied by Paul Jones will take on the Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant. Paul Jones says he will not rest until he rids Mid Atlantic of Jimmy Valiant. As you all know, Tony St. Clair has issued a challenge to Abdullah the Butcher and Tiger Jeet Singh. Tony says he has the perfect partner. Well fans, we don't have to wait any longer. Let's take you to Tony St. Clair and find out who his partner will be. In a Locker Room St. Clair: Abdullah and Singh! You gave me a pretty good beating but I'm back and ready to go! I have found a partner who will stand by my side and fight with me. Oh, he's a man that both of you know very well. My partner at the Great American Bash will be the legend himself...Antonio Inoki! Back in the Control Center Bob Caudle: My goodness! I don't think Tony St. Clair could of chose a better partner. That should be one barnburner of a match. I cant wait for Abdullah and Singh to respond to this. Unbelievable! Fans, we also know Jimmy Snuka will defend the NWA National Title and Tom Prichard will defend the TV title. I will officially announce their opponents next week. As if that wasn't enough, I have one more blockbuster announcement. At the Great American Bash, we will have a very special AWA showcase match. Ricky Steamboat will defend the AWA World Title against Jerry Blackwell! Mid Atlantic is very excited and pleased to present this match to our great fans. The Great American Bash is shaping up to be one historic event. Don't forget to stick around for the fireworks show afterwards. Fans, I'll see you next week. gordi
Inoki is a great choice for a partner vs Abdullah & Singh. He has plenty of experience dealing with them.
dawho5
Inoki as the mystery partner is a great choice for sure. Steamboat vs. Blackwell added to the card as well! The Bash is shaping up to be a HUGE event.
SirEdger
Gonna be fun to have the AWA showcased as well during the Great American Bash! Steamboat vs Blackwell should be fun.
LowBlowPodcast
Another AWA/NWA partnership... could this be the beginning of something bigger? I can only speculate. I do love that GAB card though. Idol has been a big name in the game for quite some time here. To go along with that you've got Orndorff vs Race and Hansen vs Rhodes on the undercard... not to mention a primetime US Title Cage match... I am interested to see who the NWA tag titles will be defended against the complete this monster card!
spaldoni
MACW Great American Bash 86 Update w/Bob Caudle Bob Caudle: Hello again everybody and welcome to another Great American Bash update. As you know the Great American Bash takes place in Charlotte NC in the Memorial Stadium on July 2nd. It should be a hot night of wrestling action with a fireworks show to follow. Well fans after everything that's gone down the past couple of weeks, all the matches at the Bash are now officially set. Austin Idol defeated Rob Fuller to earn an NWA World Title match against Nikita Koloff. We all saw the highlights of the tag team battle royal last week on TV. Los Infernales came out the winners and will get a US Tag Team title match at the Bash, taking on champs, Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley. After what transpired in Greensboro, Skandor Akbar demanded his man Haku get a rematch for the NWA National Title. Jimmy Snuka didn't hesitate to accept the challenge. We all witnessed Tom Prichard loose the TV Title last week, as Tommy Rich showed up to answer the open challenge. A rematch has been signed for the Bash. So there you have it fans, the title matches are set for the Bash. Fans I want to show you some footage from WCCW's Parade of Champions and what happened to The American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Footage is shown of Dusty's hard fought match against Stan Hansen, then the attack by the Freebirds. Bob Caudle: Obviously the Freebirds were out to collect the bounty put on the Dream's head by one Ted Dibiase. Dusty Rhodes is in the Hospital and is talking retirement. Will he show up at the Bash to face Stan Hansen? It looks like the odds are against it. I want to take to you to comments made by Stan Hansen, earlier this week. Stan Hansen: Dusty Rhodes! You're nothing but a spineless coward! While you're in the Hospital, crying and sulking, why don't you have the Doctors check out that long yellow streak down your back. I gave you the beating of your life at Parade of Champions and now you want to chicken out of our rematch at the Bash. You're gutless Rhodes! I'm showing up in Charlotte on July 2nd and I'm showing up to fight! If you have just an ounce of courage Rhodes, please show up so I can finish the job! Bob Caudle: Some very strong words from Stan Hansen. Fans, I've never seen Dusty Rhodes in this state of mind. I just don't know if he will make it on July 2nd. Fans, that's it for this week's update. Thanks for joining me and see you next time. spaldoni
MACW Great American Bash 86 Update w/ Bob Caudle Bob Caudle: Hello again everybody and welcome to another Great American Bash update. Coming to you on July 2nd at the Memorial Stadium in Charlotte NC. Fans what a hot summer night of action it will be. A fireworks show will follow the event but there will sure be enough fireworks going on in the ring. A lot to talk about on this update and we're going to kick things off with pre recorded comments from the NWA World Heavyweight champion, the Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff. Nikita: (Belt on his shoulder) Austin Idol! You are nothing more than, ah what you Americans say? A sissy boy! You win match for a shot at my title. All you did was win a beating! I will celebrate you Americans Great American Bash by proving Russia is superior in every way. This sissy Austin Idol does not stand a chance against the Russian Nightmare. (Motions the sickle) I will take his head off with this! I will represent Mother Russia well by holding up my world title in victory. Caudle: Very strong words from the World Champ. Nikita Koloff has been on an unstoppable roll. Can The Universal Heartthrob put an end to the Russian Nightmare's reign of terror? We'll find out at the Great American Bash. Fans, I want to show you highlights from last week's edition of MACW Television as the show came to a close. Highlights are shown of Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez attacking Hacksaw Duggan. Then, United States Champ, Ted Dibiase comes out and joins in. He slaps Duggan several times while Rude and Fernandez hold Duggan. Dibiase then levels Duggan across the head with the US title belt. Caudle: I hope the US champ is proud of himself and that 3 on 1 attack. One thing is for sure, Dibiase will have no help as he will be locked inside a steel cage with Hacksaw Duggan at the Great American Bash. I understand Ted Dibiase will make a rare announced appearance on this week's edition of MACW. Switching gears to another feud that's been getting out of control. I want to show you highlights from a recent card in Greenville, SC and what went down between Corporal Kirchner and Don Kernodle. Highlights are shown of Kernodle interfering in a match between Kirchner and Smirnoff. Kernodle has his fist taped and busts Kirchner open with several fists to the head. Later on, a bandaged up Kirchner hits the ring with a taped fist and pounds away on Kernodle then hits the Fallaway Slam which allowed Jimmy Snuka to get the pinfall. Caudle: These two men have had a heated rivalry going on. Don Kernodle also has an enemy in Jacques Rougeau. So it seems Don Kernodle will be quite the target at the Bash when Kirchner and the Rougeau's collide with Kernodle and the Caspian Empire. The Caspian Empire have proven to be solid muscle for Kernodle but that might not be enough when the Rougeau brothers come to town. Another score that will hopefully be settled on July 2nd is between Paul Orndorff and Harley Race. Those two will collide in a NO DQ match for the Mid Atlantic Title. Fans, more highlights, this time from Norfolk and what went down between these two. Highlights are shown of the Orndorff/Idol vs. Race/Fuller bout. Officials are distracted with Idol and Fuller as Idol has Fuller in the Las Vegas Leglock out on the concrete. Tiger Jeet Singh runs in and nails Orndorff from behind with his sword. Race slides a chair into the ring and piledrives Orndorff on it! Caudle: Very graphic scene. Let's take you to pre recorded comments from both Harley Race and Paul Orndorff. Race: Nothing has felt better than piledriving Orndorff's head on that steel chair! Orndorff! That was just a sample of what you're going to get at the Great American Bash. No DQ! That means I can do whatever I want to do! And when it's all over, that Mid Atlantic Title is going back where it rightfully belongs...around my waist! Orndorff: (Brace around his neck) The only thing that was proven Harley Race, was that you couldn't get the job done by yourself! Now I have no idea why Tiger Jeet Singh had to interfere but rest assured Singh, I will not forget this and after I'm done with Race, you're next! Orndorff rips off his neck brace and throws it on the ground. Orndorff: Back to you Race! Come July 2nd, No DQ, that means nobody can stop what I'm going to unleash on you! I'm going to hurt you like I've never hurt anybody in my entire life! I wont be happy unless you're down and out. I guarantee you Race, you wont be walking out of there on your own! Caudle: Wow! Chilling words from both men. I'm genuinely concern for the safety of both men. July 2nd should be an incredible night of action and don't forget about the very special AWA showcase match as AWA World Champion, Ricky Steamboat defends his title against Jerry Blackwell in what should be an outstanding match up. Well fans, that's it for this week. I'll see you next week for our final Great American Bash update. spaldoni
MACW Great American Bash 86 Update w/ Bob Caudle Bob Caudle: Hello again everybody and welcome to the final Great American Bash update. It takes place on July 2nd at the Memorial Stadium in Charlotte NC. Following the great night of action will be the special fireworks show. What a way to spend a summer night. I have a lot to cover so here we go. For the NWA World Heavyweight title, the Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff will defend the title against the Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol. As you all remember, Idol defeated Rob Fuller to earn this golden opportunity. Let's hear from the Universal Heartthrob. Idol: OOOOOOHHHH baby! I heard Nikita Koloff calling me a sissy. Nikita, don't let my good looks fool you baby. I may be the toast of the coast and I may have trouble getting to my car because all the ladies want a piece of the Universal Heartthrob, but know this Nikita Koloff, I've been in the ring with the meanest, roughest and toughest men this sport has produced and I've beaten them all. You're no different darling. At The Great American Bash, I'm coming for you Nikita and I'm coming for the world title baby! Caudle: Nikita Koloff versus Austin Idol for all the marbles. Should be a great title match. Speaking of world title matches. The AWA World title will be defended as Ricky Steamboat puts the title on the line against Jerry Blackwell. Let's hear from the challenger, Jerry Blackwell. Blackwell: Steamboat, you've been ducking me long enough! Mid Atlantic wanted this showcase match and I'm going to give them exactly what they want. Now I'm a man who tells the truth. I've never told a lie in my life. When I say I'm going to do something, I do it! On July 2nd at the Great American Bash, I'm going to beat that punk Ricky Steamboat for the AWA World title. It's as simple as that! Caudle: Strong words from Jerry Blackwell. Ricky Steamboat has been on an incredible roll as champion and I know the fans in Mid Atlantic will be happy to see him. I for one am excited for this special AWA showcase match. Speaking of titles, I want to show you highlights from this past weekend and what went down with the US tag team titles. Then we'll hear comments from the champs. Footage is shown of Los Infernales attacking the champs Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley. Los Infernales then steal the US titles and leave town with them. Cooley: I use to have a lot of respect for Los Infernales but I don't respect people who attack from behind and I sure don't respect thieves! Rest assured we're getting those titles back on July 2nd! Johnson: Los Infernales want to get down and dirty, well that's fine by us because we can get down and dirty as well. You boys are going to find that out first hand at the Great American Bash. Like my partner said, we're getting those belts back but not before we give you two crooks a wrestling beating you wont ever forget. Crime doesn't pay but you boys will! Caudle: I think the only thing the challengers did was fire up the champs. Another match scheduled for the Bash is Dusty Rhodes clashing with Stan Hansen. The big question is will Dusty Rhodes be healthy enough to compete? We'll have to find out on July 2nd. Let's hear from Stan Hansen. Hansen: Everybody wants to know if that yellow coward Dusty Rhodes is going to show. After the last beating I gave him, I doubt that chicken will ever wrestle again. Regardless, I'm showing up on July 2nd for a fight! I can only hope that coward shows because then I can put him out of his misery for good! Caudle: Boy, if Dusty Rhodes does show up, that will be one heck of a fight. Of course also on the card will be the United States title bout inside the steel cage. This one has been brewing for a long time. Let's hear from the United States champion followed by the challenger. Dibiase: Money talks and losers like Duggan walk. (The Laugh) You know, people like Hacksaw Duggan say money is the root of all evil. Well, lower class peons like Duggan say that because they don't have it and want to make themselves feel better. Look at me Duggan, I'm a very happy man. I can literally do whatever I want. Money is the reason I'm United States champion...well that and my incredible wrestling ability. Duggan, I'm better than you in every way possible and a whole lot richer. (Laughs again) I mean just imagine for one second a goof like Duggan representing the NWA as United States champion. That would be a disgrace! At the Great American Bash, I'm going to show all these working class suckers what I already know. That I'm a better wrestler and I'm a better man than Duggan. (Final Laugh) Duggan: Ted Dibiase! I'm proud to be a working class American and I'm proud to represent all these great working class people. They are the backbone of this great country. You flaunt and talk about all your money. I don't give a damn how much money you have! All the money in the world wont mean anything when we're locked inside that steel cage together. The beating I give you will be for each and every one of these great working class people, who want to see me shut you up. And at the Great American Bash, that's exactly what I'm going to do! The talking is over and it's time to fight and see who the better man really is! Caudle: Wow, strong words from both men. Fans, you wont want to miss it. July 2nd, the Great American Bash. I'll see you there.

It is my pleasure to be a part of this historic night of action. I will be providing match commentary along with my partner David Crockett. Well David, we already have a big announcement to make regarding tonight's show. Crockett: Tony, great to be here and yes we have big news. On June 29th at Lutte's Heatstroke card, Art Crews upset Jimmy Snuka to become the NWA National Champion. Snuka was set to defend the title against Haku tonight. Snuka has invoked his rematch clause for tonight and so it will be Art Crews defending the National Title against Jimmy Snuka. Schiavone: Sounds like that is settled. Wow, what an amazing sight this is as I look around this stadium and see 30,000 fans ready for the show. We wont keep you waiting, let's get the Great American Bash started! US Tag Team Title Bout Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley (C) vs. Los Infernales Los Infernales come to the ring wearing the US titles they stole. Johnson and Cooley hit the ring and the match is on. The champs pound away on Los Infernales. They swing MS-1 to the ropes and put him down with a double fist to the head, then run over and nail Morgan with a double fist. The champs control the start with quick tags, hip tosses, back drops, body slams and drop kicks. Next segment is controlled by Los Infernales. Their style seems to throw Cooley off a bit as they work him over with fast kicks, punches and knees to the mid section. They hit a double back drop on Cooley. MS-1 hits a spinebuster on Cooley and tags in Morgan, who swings off the ropes and hits a body splash 1..2..Johnson makes the save. The Ref guides Johnson back. Morgan throws Cooley through the ropes. MS-1 hammers away on Cooley and holds him as Morgan dives the ropes and nails Cooley! Morgan throws Cooley into the ring and tags in MS-1. MS-1 goes out and picks Cooley up and Morgan jumps off the apron and hits Cooley with a Senton! Johnson runs around the ring and double clotheslines Los Infernales! After order is restored, MS-1 rolls Cooley into the ring and goes for a body splash but Cooley puts his knees up, rolls over and tags in Johnson! Cooley runs in. Everybody is fighting. Cooley back drops Morgan over the top rope! Johnson hits a high drop kick on MS-1, who staggers into Cooley. Cooley picks up MS-1 and hits the Oklahoma Stampede and Johnson follows with an elbow drop 1..2..3!!! The Ref hands the champs their rightful titles. Johnson and Cooley raise them up to the cheering crowd. 'Boogie Woogie Man' Jimmy Valiant vs. Rip Oliver Paul Jones keeps his word and doesn't come out with Oliver. These two put on a fun little 5 minute match, as it goes back and forth. Valiant swings Oliver to the ropes and back drops him then follows with a body slam. Valiant swings off the ropes and hits the jumping elbow drop 1..2..Oliver gets his foot on the rope. Valiant swings Oliver into the turnbuckles and charges in but Oliver gets both knees up and nails Valiant. Oliver hops up on the 2nd turnbuckle. Valiant staggers up and Oliver nails him with a diving clothesline 1..2..3! Oliver is happy with the win. The fans boo as Paul Jones hits the ring with his cane. Jones is telling Oliver to finish Valiant off with the cane. Oliver is arguing with him. It starts to get heated then escalates as Jones is jumping up and down with the cane. Oliver starts to walk away and an irate Jones slaps him! Now Oliver is irate. The fans roar as Oliver grabs Jones by his shirt. Oliver clenches his fist and looks at the cheering crowd. Oliver is ready to hit Jones when Blackjack Mulligan runs in and clotheslines Oliver from behind. A shaken up Jones falls back against the turnbuckles. Mulligan grabs the cane and nails Valiant with it several times, then hurls Valiant out of the ring. Oliver slowly stands and Mulligan clotheslines him with the cane! Jones gets up and raises Mulligan's arm as the fans boo. Tony St. Clair and Antonio Inoki vs. WWC Champ Abdullah the Butcher and Tiger Jeet Singh Whatever this Referee is making for this match, it isn't enough. Singh and St. Clair start fighting on the outside. Abdullah goes right after Inoki. All four men are fighting on the outside. The Ref figures he's better off letting them go for awhile. After a few minutes of brawling, Singh and St. Clair are busted open. It doesn't take long for Inoki to start bleeding as Abdullah got out the fork. Inoki gets some payback and rams Abdullah's head on the steel post, busting him open. Order is somewhat restored as Singh and St. Clair are in the ring. St. Clair hits Singh with a heels first drop kick and tags in Inoki. Inoki hits a diving knee drop from the top rope and tags in St. Clair. St. Clair gets up on the top turnbuckle. Singh staggers up and St. Clair hits a flying body press 1..2..Abdullah drops an elbow to break the count. Inoki runs in and starts hammering away on Abdullah with bare knuckle punches. Both of them end up fighting through the ropes. Singh staggers up against the ropes and St. Clair runs over but Singh back drops him over the top rope. Abdullah and Inoki continue to brawl around the ring. Singh slowly walks to the outside and grabs a chair. He walks over to St. Clair and lifts the chair up but St. Clair kicks him several times, grabs the chair and nails Singh over the head! The Ref sees enough and is forced to signal for the bell. He Disqualifies St. Clair and Inoki. Abdullah and Inoki fight all the way to the back. Singh is laid out. St. Clair puts his boot on Singh's chest and raises his hand to the cheering crowd. TV Title Bout Tommy 'Wildfire' Rich (C) vs. 'The Doctor of Desire' Tom Prichard w/Rock Riddle Exciting back and forth match as these two really go at it. Tommy has his segment as he hits a Exploder Suplex, diving fist drop, running elbow smash and pulls out a Sitout suplex slam. Prichard gets his shine as he pulls out a variety of suplexes, including Vertical, gutwrench and sling shot. Prichard hoists Rich up on the turnbuckles and is going for the Superplex but Rich fires away and sends Prichard flying back. Rich sets up and is going for a fist drop but Riddle runs over and trips him, sending Rich straight down. Both men stagger up at the Ref's count of 8. They have an exchange. Prichard eye rakes Rich, body slams him and follows with an elbow drop off the 2nd rope and covers 1..2..Rich gets his shoulder up. Ricky Steamboat retains the AWA world title in a hard fought victory over Jerry Blackwell. Paul Orndorff has finally put his feud with Harley Race to rest as he retained the Mid Atlantic title. Art Crews technically retains the NWA National Title and he can thank Haku for that. Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley retain the US tag team titles in a thrilling match with Los Infernales. And Tommy Rich retains the TV title in a draw with Tom Prichard but Rock Riddle found out what Wildfire is all about. Rip Oliver and Paul Jones seem to be done but looks like Paul Jones already has a new man in Blackjack Mulligan. I'm not sure if Tiger Jeet Singh and Tony St. Clair are done with each other. We had shocking appearances from Bad News Brown and Bull Gantner. What a tremendous night it's been. Crockett: Indeed it has been Tony and now we have the match we've all bee waiting for. The Steel Cage is just about ready. This match is under pinfall or submission rules. Fans, it's been a historic Great American Bash. SirEdger
NO WAY. Never expected Bad News Brown to answer King Kong Bundy's challenge! You did some hustlin' for this one, my friend, and you did very well. Resounding success all around for this card!
LowBlowPodcast
I really appreciate all that you put into this show. This was more of a Starrcade than a Great American Bash. This also puts GAB on a standard that will be difficult to follow next year. I personally like the Dibiase v Duggan match in the main event and it reminds me of the 85 Bash with Dusty v Tully as the main with Nikita vs Flair before it. Dibiase has put himself in a position to be THEE man in the NWA. On top of that there are so many other pieces that fit into the NWA puzzle. Orndorff, Race, Snuka, Bundy, and now you've got Bad News in the hunt on a big angle. All of these guys will line up to look at Nikita and see if they can do the unthinkable. The one thing that I would be interested in seeing is more development of the tag team ranks. I'd like to see who will be the next in line to build up for an NWA tag title run. All in all... you have done some tremendous work since you've come in. You've put together a helluva roster. You put on a helluva card. And you have got a helluva future coming up with this crew. kevinmcfl
Great booking here Love how the crowd gets what they want in the opener and I hope that Cooley continues to get a big shot here in MACW. He is one of those underrated Southern promotion guys that you use so well. I figured Oliver 's who to break ship with Paul Jones but never thought Mulligan was going to come out. This is a perfect fit for him and again this is a name that was big time in the NWA in the none of us have done much with. Now we can see him in a nive feud with Oliver. Big surprises are the key to a major show as some angles are ending while others just start. GREAT SHOCKER! Again, nice booking in third match. A major brawl where St. Clair uses the chair for the DQ. Even though the heels get the win, the crowd is excited to see a chair shot by the babyface. I am writing this review after I read each match and I forgot something up top about a major show. Sometimes angels continue.... hence Wildfire and Dr. Tom plus the fans get what they really want... to see Riddle knocked into next week. The Caspian Empire + Kernodle do a great job of playing the anti-American heels as they dominate on tv to make them look strong but loose the big ones! And another segment starts: KKB vs Bad News Brown. He is perfect here as it is truly believeable that he would just walk out with the money and that it is going to take one hell of a man to come and get it from him Nice use of the AWA here. This talent sharing was kind of what USA Wrestling tried to do to combat the WWF in the 80's but the egos were too strong and know we are left with what we have today. To bad we were not in charge then. Nice brawl with Dusty and Hansen. Like that the Awesome Twosome comes out and takes care of business as I have high hopes for them. Not sure I like a WWF midcarder with little national fame, Bull Ganter, can chase Rude and Fernandez from the ring. Race and Orndorff doesn't disappoint. It must have taking some serious guts in the locker room when you had to tell Harley that he was doing the job but Orndorff is over like crazy now! I figured Haku was going to get involved somewhere and this was a nice place. A Haku-Snuka war doesn't need a belt to sell. That one would be great all by itself. Art Crews kind of needs a championship to get help him get over. As a member of the NWA, not sure though that he deserves a title as important as the national title. That kind of makes Art Crews the #2 man in the NWA. Nikita taken to the limit by Idol is what the fans would have wanted to see! Nice showcase here. Is Fuller siding with the Russians or just so anti Idol? We will just have to wait and see. Dibiase vs Hacksaw might be the best feud that the entire NWA could put on and it go on and on and on each and every night! Great way to end your Great American Bash! The NWA is on fire and this card just proved it.
dawho5
Where to begin? I suppose the beginnning... Great opener to get the crowd rolling. Infernales would make perfect foils for most babyface teams. Rip Oliver vs. Blackjack should be a super hot feud. And Oliver comes in off of an honorable win over Valiant. Tony St. Clair the Southern brawler continues to be a fun use of him. Good way to salvage the draw between Rich and Prichard. Big, HUGE win for Kirchner and the Rougeaus after that build. Bad News making a name for himself FAST in MACW! I'm sure that J.J. will have some things to say about this. Blackwell and Steamer is such a welcome addition to this card. And a dream match if I ever saw one! Bull Gantner showing up save Dusty was great. Fun brawl between Hansen and Dusty with a new ally for Big Dust at the end. Orndorff finally gets his definitive win against Race and big things should be ahead for him in MACW. Haku and Snuka in a feud? Sign me up!! Fuller is not done with Idol and I couldn't be happier. Too bad Idol missed his shot at the title though. DiBiase barely escapes with his title. Duggan gave him a Hell of a beating and deserves the fans respect after that one. What a great show with talent from everywhere! Excellent job on this one and I'd say your gamble in giving up the Horsemen paid off big here. Also, I agree that this comes across more like Starrcade than the Bash.
