SirEdger
SUMMER SPECTACULAR August 15th, 1986 Jarry Park, Montréal, QC -Tatsutoshi Goto (w/Paul E. Dangerously) destroyed Gilles "The Fish" Poisson in 2:35 with the Backdrop Suplex -Los Infernales beat Hillbilly Jim & Cousin Elmer in 12:35 -JWA Trios Champion Lance Von Erich beat Joe Savoldi in 5:03 with the Claw -Jacques Rougeau beat Black Bart in 13:27 with the Missile Dropkick -Armand Rougeau beat Bruce Hart in 15:05 with a roll-up NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Championship: In a controversial finish, "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin (w/Precious) beat Don "The Pride of" Kernodle in 14:27 to win the title. The controversy emerged first when referee Luigi Macera was knocked in the corner by Jimmy Garvin. Garvin attempted a piledriver but Eric Embry ran in, took Kernodle's title and knocked Garvin out! Embry fled the scene and Precious got into the ring, trying to revive Garvin. Seeing that Kernodle was back on his feet, Precious grabbed a bag of powder. However, Jacques Rougeau ran in to stop Precious and snatch the powder bag from her. After they exchange a few words, Precious slapped Jacques! Jacques retrieved the powder from the bag and throws it in Precious direction....BUT NAILED KERNODLE WITH IT!!! Rougeau is stunned as he gets out of the ring while Jimmy Garvin comes back to and rolls up a blinded Kernodle to score the victory! The show ends with Jimmy Garvin & Precious celebrating together while Jacques retreats backstage, realizing what he had just done.... - TITLE CHANGE!!! spaldoni
Impressive win for Goto to start the show. What a contrast of styles match between Los Infernales and the Hillbillies. So outrageous on paper but one of those types of matches you would just have to see. Lance and Savoldi is a fun match with Lance pulling out the claw! For some reason I knew this match with Bart would get Jacques back on track and it sure did. Armand beats Bruce. I like this Rougeau/Hart rivalry going. Wow, what a crazy turn of events in the main event. Embry blasting Jimmy and Jacques costing Kernodle the title. Great title run for Kernodle but I guess it had to end sometime. The good news is, we get to see a Garvin/Embry feud (Which should be a blast) and rekindled the Jacques/Kernodle feud. Summer Spectacular really delivered. LowBlowPodcast
Really love the Garvn title swap. I have learned more about his run in Lutte from you and from some youtube videos and this is fitting. It really pushes things to a new level with Lutte and raises you up in the NWA. I think the Rougueas will have some fun stuff coming up with these guys. I am interested to see where Eric Embry fits in all of this...Looking forward to the next step with these event. dawho5
Goto keeps on a roll when he's not fighting tip top guys. Los Infernales have been quietly building up the wins. Good to see Jacques and Armand both get wins. I have loved Kernodle's run, but you did so much with that match to set things up. Jacques and Kernodle have a ready made feud and both can loosely claim some kind of rivalry with Garvin. NOt only that, but Garvin has Embry right there to deal with. Lots of options and a crazy, memorable match to boot! Great job.

dawho5
Oooh, sanctions for Jacques. Is the NWA going to be the bad guy here? I like two matches as a backdrop for the Kokina/OMG feud that don't involve both of them. Good way to keep fan investment without giving it away. Borne has been awesome for you and I hope he stays on his hot streak. MS-1 with a big win. Maeda and Inoki should go over if they are in town. Embry is a babyface now yes? Hillbilly Jim gets a good squash win. That Owen, can't believe he has strayed so far from the right path. Fun preview of BattleBowl. Who is that masked man??? LowBlowPodcast
I like the BattleBowl entry matches and the showcase... very good stuff. The masked man has got everyone on their heels and this Kokina v Gang thing is going to shake Lutte to its very foundations... great stuff. spaldoni
I wonder what will happen to Jacques? The Kokina/OMG feud keeps gaining momentum. Borne has been on a hot streak as TV champion. Embry must of been excited to team with Inoki and Maeda. MS-1 and Hillbilly Jim get strong TV wins. Owen brings his new attitude back to Lutte and Keith seems to like it. Liked the Battle Bowl Exhibition main event. Now Martel has felt the wrath of this masked man!
Yo-Yo's Roomie
You have such an interesting roster that leads to some really cool and unique pairings. Embry teaming with Inoki and Maeda, Candido teaming with Sheik, Gang tussling with Kokina, Infernales against Hillbilly Jim etc. Real fantasy booking. kevinmcfl
I really enjoy wondering who the masked man is... can't wait to find out
Crazymax Jack
One of my favorite reading materials here on PWO. I love the choice of territory going out of the common zone, I like the make shift roster that feels true to the spirit of your booking, and I like that you keep it true to your area as well. The creativity of things like the BattleBowl exhibition. Makes sense, seems like simple booking, but it's things like this that adds that extra special feeling to things in the realm of fantasy reading. Gets the reader more excited for things to come. If this becomes your final shows that is truly unfortunate, for readers like me. Enjoyable stuff.

spaldoni
Welcome back Lutte! Gotta love the Andre/Orndorff team, what a way to open the show. Charland gets a good win over Smothers. Somers gets a pretty big win over MS-1. Savoldi continues to do well here. OOOOOOHHHH, I love that SST/Medicos match up. Strong title defense for SST. Borne with a HUGE win over Martel. Borne has been super hot while Martel has been in a slump. I know Martel will bounce back. Solid main event as Jimmy retains over Adias. No interference from Sunny but I know he's in the shadows. dawho5
That is one Hell of an opening match. I'm a big Smothers fan so seeing him anywhere is cool. Somers winning over MS-1 is actually kind of big for him. Nice squash for Savoldi. Good to see the Medicos give the SST a good fight. Big win for Borne! Martel needs to take some time off. Also big win for Davis. Garvin defending his title against Adias is a great Garvin title defense. No chance Garvin can lose.
LowBlowPodcast
Andre and Orndorff is a team I would have definitely paid money to see. A great big guy/smaller guy team. I am interest in what happens to Martel here after this loss to Borne. It just elevates Borne to another level and with Martel it is a strong sacrifice. Then we get the reign of Jimmy Jam to start off with a bang. He will be a fun guy to watch develop over the next couple of months.
SirEdger
NWA Lutte Internationale/International Wrestling LIVE! August 23rd, 1986 Victoria, BC Quick and dirty results: -The show opens with new NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Champion "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin and Precious at the broadcast booth. Jimmy Garvin claims that finally he got rid of Eric Embry and he now is a champion that this territory can be proud of. Garvin says he's gonna be a fighting champion and he's ready to defend against anyone in the National Wrestling Alliance. That brings out Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Paul Orndorff who says he wants a piece of Jimmy Garvin. Then, Bull Gantner comes out and says he also wants a piece of Garvin too. Garvin says it's unfair as they're not in Lutte but Orndorff reminds Garvin that he said he'd be willing to defend against anyone from the NWA. Garvin then pitches a match between Paul Orndorff and Bull Gantner tonight with the loser being unable to challenge Garvin for the title while he has the belt. Both men accept and Gantner says the joke's on Garvin because no matter what, when one of them takes the title away from him, the other will get first crack at his title! -Doug Somers beat Bruce Hart in 7:13. Postmatch, Gang says he and Floyd Creatchman won't rest until they get the tag team titles away from The Samoan SWAT Team. They don't care who wins it. Sooner or later, something will have to give as this territory is getting a bit too big for all of them. Floyd teases showing up at Battlebowl later this year to mess up with Paul E! -Gino Brito beat a local worker in 9:19. After the match, Gino asks what's the deal between him and Paul E. Dangerously. Gino says he wishes it didn't come to this but he'll have an explanation to give soon. -Keith Hart beat a local worker in 7:53 with the Sharpshooter. Bruce came out after the match to confront Keith and Keith slapped him. This time, Bruce responds with a right hand and leaves, with a shocked look on Keith's face! Loser Can't Challenge for Jimmy Garvin's Title until he loses it: Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Paul Orndorff beat Bull Gantner in 39:13 with the piledriver. Despite his deception, Gantner shook hands with Orndorff while Garvin - who was at commentary - gleefully rejoices that he has one less contender to worry about! spaldoni
Cool seeing Garvin open the show. Orndorff and Gantner in a match for a shot against Garvin, really shows the importance of the title. Doug Sommers has been racking up some impressive wins. RPM Davis beats Nightmare Davis in a fun match up. Embry gets a big win over MS-1. Very interested in Gino's explanation. The Hart vs. Hart feud is starting to boil. Orndorff beats Gantner in a hard fought match. Orndorff versus Garvin will be a big draw.
LowBlowPodcast
I really liked the Loser Can't challenge match... very fun little idea to play with. spaldoni
This was a fun card to read because of all the makeshift tag teams LOL. Let's start with Dutch and Candido. What a crazy team on paper but they upset the Nightmares! Looks like Poisson was a good luck charm for Martel as he scores the fall and gets back on the winning track. Invader 2 makes short work of Davis. Gantner beats Embry. I wonder where Embry goes from here now that he's on his own? Look at the roll Arthur W. Crews has been on. Granted Garvin helped a bit, but still, that's a win over Jacques . Brito and Smothers prove to be another successful makeshift team as they upset Los Infernales. Rougeau's and Harts would of been worth the price of admission. AWWWW, the makeshift team of Garvin and Medico 3 didn't keep tonight's theme going, but no shame in losing to the champs.
dawho5
Garvin talking himself into a corner is always something a crowd will love. Keith starting in on Bruce like that is definitely a sign of trouble. The battle of the Davises! Embry and Charland both with big wins. Gino stalling with the explanation, hmm. Bruce is finally getting to the point where he has enough of Keith. Maybe Owen too. Gantner proves to be a good loser. I will echo the likes for the "loser can't challenge" match. Dutch and Candido, what a team! A win for Martel, yes! Whoa, Invader 2 really killed Davis. Embry definitely needs something to do. He's too entertaining to be a midcard guy without a feud. Crews will be crowing about that win for sure. Brito is getting a bit of a push here. I like it. Rougeaus over the Harts, I'm sure that's going to go somewhere. Rough night for Medico 3. And I'm sure Garvin will put the blame squarely on him too, lol. The way you bring the entire NWA into your shows is such a huge boost for the game as a whole. It really gives a sense of teamwork and togetherness to the NWA that might not have actually existed, but it was fun to be a part of for sure.
