spaldoni
LOL, Cornette starts the show with a hilarious promo. The laughs stop when Watts shows up and announces the tag title match later on. I like the direction you're taking with Eddie Hogan. He gets a shady win over Kendall to advance then has a funny segment with the champ Hulk Hogan. Speaking of Hulk, the Moondogs put a beating on him. I really like what you're doing here. Both the Moondogs and Islanders will get a great rub by being in the ring with Hogan at Star Wars. Shultz gives another priceless promo as he builds up his match with JYD. JYD comes back with a fired up promo as well. This match will be explosive. Barry defeats DJ, thanks to Hercules. Looking forward to that Herc/DJ TV title match. Well, like Bock said, the Midnight Express did what they had to do and retain. They get some bad news as Watts informs them they'll be facing the Road Warriors at Star Wars! Star Wars is absolutely loaded!
kevinmcfl
Great show from top to bottom. I love Nick Bockwinkel on the mic and I thought the opening with Cornette and Ross was priceless. For my money, Cornette was the best manager in the game in the early 80's If Eddie Hogan isn't Hulk's brother then we all must tune in next week to get to the bottom of this. About Hulk Hogan... why is he getting attacked by the Moondogs. Another great hook and we will all be back to find out next week. Central States tournament is going nicely and I love the final 8. I have my pick but I will keep that to myself. I am glad Kendall didn't stay in as he is only like 16 at this time. Bass and Bart did not disappoint against the MNE but I hope that they Express just keep on winning so I get my weekly dose of Cornette on the mic

GeneJackson95
The Glamour Boys are quietly working their way up the ranks and will be knocking at the Midnight Express' door for a title shot when they least expect it I"m sure. The Movement is building momentum each week....I expect to see something drastic from them soon to really make a statement that can't be ignored. Big wins for Grappler, Schultz, and Windham. Nice win for Garvin over Bass....I would have paid good money to see Garvin get Bass' big ass up for the brainbuster especially multiple nights in a row. The crowds had to be deafening when The Von Erichs and JYD came out together!
spaldoni
Glamour Boys are racking up some wins. The Movement is being built up nicely and could soon be a top heel faction. Jimmy Garvin has a good week defeating Bass. Saito downs Houston but I give Houston credit for going 11 minutes. Barry Windham seems to have earned himself a title shot with those non title wins over Herc. Moondogs show how tough they are by standing toe to toe with the top faces of the territory. Blehschmidt
-Thursday July 4th- -St. Louis Arena- -St. Louis, MO- -Independence Day Star Wars- Nearly 15,000 fans have packed the St. Louis Arena in St. Louis, Missouri as AWA World Class Wrestling is set to present Independence Day Star Wars! All of the champions of the American Wrestling Alliance are here! All of the World Class titles will be defended! Television cameras are rolling, Jim Ross and Nick Bockwinkel are on commentary, Marc Lowrance is ready, let's head to the ring! 1) Kevin Von Erich vs Eddie Hogan - Central States Title Tournament Quarterfinal After what happened on television this past weekend, instead of his usual red and yellow knock off attire, Eddie Hogan came to the ring just wearing blue jeans and boots, and looked like he possibly hadn't slept since that incident. Once the bell rang, he came to life and gave Kevin Von Erich everything he had. It was a solid back and forth encounter for the opening minutes, but the skill and experience of Von Erich would be the deciding factor and just short of the ten minute mark, Kevin would hit his Reverse Crossbody from the top for the victory and advance in the tournament. Winner: Kevin Von Erich 2) "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin w/Precious vs Kerry Von Erich - Central States Title Tournament Quarterfinal Jimmy Garvin took a ton of extra time to strut and preen at the beginning of the match to the point where a fired up Von Erich charged him before the bell rang and began to attack him before he had his robe off or Precious had even left the ring. Referee Ron West had to physically shove Kerry back into his corner as Precious loudly complained that Von Erich should be disqualified. Garvin got to his feet and took his robe off and also began complaining that Kerry should be disqualified. At this point, a few things all happened at the same time. Ron West called for the bell, at the same time Garvin threw his robe at Kerry who swatted it aside, causing it to land on the head of Ron West! While West was struggling to remove himself from the feather and sequins, Kerry tackled Garvin directly in front of Precious who was taking all of this in. Seeing an opening, she brought her purse crashing down on the head of Kerry Von Erich, who immediately stopped fighting and went limp on top of Jimmy Garvin. Precious quickly exited the ring, Garvin shoved Von Erich off of him, and then covered him, and Ron West managed to free himself from the robe, saw Garvin covering Kerry, and counted the 1,2,3. Winner: Jimmy Garvin 3) Mr. Saito vs Barry Windham - Central States Title Tournament Quarterfinal Windham offered a handshake to start the match, Saito accepted it and then yanked Windham into a belly to back suplex. That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the match as Saito rag dolled Windham from pillar to post for the opening minutes. Barry would not be put down however as he kicked out of every pin attempt and continued to fight back no matter what Saito threw at him. The tide finally began to turn when Saito whipped Barry into the ropes, Barry managed to leapfrog over him, and catch him with a big Bulldog Headlock on the rebound. It wasn't enough to keep Saito down, but it gave Barry momentum. Barry stayed on him, and just before the thrity minute time limit was set to expire, nailed him with a Lariat and got the three count. Winner: Barry Windham 4) Jay Youngblood vs The Grappler - Central States Title Tournament Quarterfinal This was a fantastic evenly matched contest from the beginning. The Grappler had the strength advantage, but Youngblood was able to counter with speed. They went back and forth exchanging control for a solid ten minutes and neither man had a clear advantage. As the bout rolled past the fifteen minute mark, Youngblood rallied with a series of chops and a big dropkick that sent the masked man to the floor. The crowd on that side of the ring was adamantly pointing at something as Youngblood reached out and drug Grappler back into the ring. Youngblood whipped the masked man into the ropes and went for a clothesline, but The Grappler was able to duck it, and on the rebound caught Youngblood with a running headbutt. Youngblood hit the canvas like a sack of potatoes, and The Grappler dropped down for the cover. Referee David Manning counted the fall and never noticed Grappler slip something out of his mask. Winner: The Grappler 5) -20 Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal- Elimination #1: Scott Casey by Morrow, Jones, Akeem, and Muhammad Elimination #2: The Nightmare by Kendall Windham Elimination #3: Ron Bass by Morrow, Jones, Akeem, and Muhammad Elimination #4: Blackjack Mulligan by Morrow, Jones, Akeem, and Muhammad Elimination #5: Italian Stallion by Brian Adias Elimination #6: Chick Donovan by Sam Houston Elimination #7: Joe Lightfoot by Morrow, Jones, Akeem, and Muhammad Elimination #8: Jules Strongbow by Morrow, Jones, Akeem, and Muhammad Elimination #9: Kim Duk by Steve Doll/Steve Simpson Elimination #10: Jose Lothario by Morrow, Jones, Akeem, and Muhammad Elimination #11: Mark Youngblood by Morrow, Jones, Akeem, and Muhammad Elimination #12: Mustafa Morrow by Steve Doll/Steve Simpson Elimination #13: Kareem Muhammad by Windham/Adias/Houston Elimination #14: Steve Simpson by Elijah Akeem Elimination #15: Taalib Jones by Windham/Adias/Houston Elimination #16: Steve Doll by Elijah Akeem Elimination #17: Elijah Akeen by Windham/Adias/Houston Elimination #18: Sam Houston by Kendall Windham Elimination #19: Kendall Windham by Brian Adias Winner: Brian Adias 6) Hercules Hernandez w/Percival Pringle III vs DJ Peterson - AWA World Class Television Title These two started off with a shoving match that turned into a slug fest in the middle of the ring. Then the "no you run the ropes and hit me with a shoulderblock" to see who could move the other the furthest game began. That seemed to be going in the favor of Hercules until Peterson leapfrogged him and blasted him with a dropkick! The crowd loved it, Herc and Percy not so much. Hernandez went after Peterson with a ferocity after that, clubbing him down with forearms, catching him with a nasty clothesline, and drilling him into the mat with several big slams. Peterson wouldn't stay down for any pinfall attempts, and Hercules then attempted to lift him up for the Backbreaker, but Peterson slid out the back and fired away at Hercules with lefts and rights. DJ had the champ staggered and whipped him into the ropes, where he caught him with a huge powerslam. Peterson then ascended the turnbuckles, and when Hercules got to his feet, launched himself off with the Second Rope Shoulderblock and caught Hercules square. Peterson covered and Referee Rick Hazzard counted One, Two, Three. Winner, and NEW AWA World Class Television Champion: DJ Peterson! 7) Brad Armstrong vs Tiger Conway Jr - AWA World Lightweight Title Brad Armstrong offered a handshake at the outset of the match only to be slapped in the face by Conway. Armstrong nodded his head and went right to work snapping Conway over in a side headlock and messing up his afro. That fired Conway up who got to his feet and charged Armstrong, only to be caught in another headlock takeover. The match would turn into a decent little technical sprint from that point with both men having control at various points, but Brad would always seem to come out ahead, leading to a frustrated Conway waving toward the back. The other four members of The Movement come out from the back and surround the ring, as Brad catches Conway in a series of armdrags. When Brad slapped on a Sleeperhold, the four men hit the ring en masse and attacked. Winner (by Disqualification): Brad Armstrong Before too much damage could be inflicted, The Youngbloods, Brian Adias, Kendall Windham, The Glamour Boys, and Sam Houston hit the ring lead to all five members of The Movement quickly exiting. They regrouped in the aisle way and all raised a fist into the air, before heading to the back. Armstrong was quick to thank all the men in the ring before raising his Lightweight Title into the air to the cheers of the St. Louis crowd. 8) Kevin Von Erich vs "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin w/Precious - Central States Title Tournament Semifinal Garvin attempted his stalling techniques with another Von Erich but Kevin wasn't falling for it. Once the bell rang and they locked up, Kevin wasted no time whipping Garvin into the corner and nailing him with punches which had the crowd counting along. He then caught him with a huge arm drag out of the corner, and blasted him with a huge dropkick when he got up. Garvin went to the floor to attempt to buy time, but Kevin followed him out and chased him around the ring. Garvin got back in first and cut Kevin off, and was able to maintain control for several minutes. But Kevin wasn't having it, and came roaring back again. The end to this back and forth nearly twenty minute encounter came when the referee was knocked down as Kevin scooped Garvin up for a bodyslam and Jimmy's boot caught Alfred Neely in the side of the head. Kevin completed the slam, and then locked the Iron Claw on the fallen Garvin. With the ref down, and Garvin in trouble, Precious climbed onto the ring apron with her purse and started to enter the ring. She was standing above Kevin just about to bash him in the head with it, when Eddie Hogan hit the ring and grabbed it out of her hands stopping her. Hearing the commotion behind him, Kevin let go of the Claw, and stood to see Hogan staring at Precious as she plead her innocence. Hogan was shaking his head and having none of it, and Von Erich turned to her and held his hand up signalling he was going to put her in the Iron Claw! The crowd in St. Louis let out a cheer at the thought of it, but it immediately turned to boo's as Eddie Hogan cracked Kevin Von Erich across the head with the obviously loaded purse. Von Erich hit the mat, out like a light. Hogan rolled Von Erich over and pulled Jimmy Garvin on top of him, while Precious shook the referee awake. Both of them exited the scene of the crime, as Neely groggily counted the One, Two, Three. Winner: Jimmy Garvin 9) Barry Windham vs The Grappler - Central States Title Tournment Semifinal A fairly even contest in the opening minutes that saw both men attempting to gain an advantage using technical wrestling. Grappler had the strength advantage and used it to take Barry down with a hammerlock and grind on him, but Windham was able to make his way out of it and begin to use his height advantage to get leverage on Grappler and take him down repeatedly. The two went back and forth this way for a while, until Grappler ended the technical exchanges by going for a big Lariat. Windham managed to duck it and caught Grappler with a big dropkick on the rebound. The two would continue to go back and forth for another ten minutes, before Windham went for a leaping Lariat, but Grappler ducked out of the way, and Windham accidentally collided with referee David Manning, who was knocked to the floor. Grappler grabbed Windham and yanked him to his feet, but Windham quickly cradled him into a small package. With no referee to count, Windham released the hold. Both men got to their feet and exchanged punches, Windham got the best of it and sent The Grappler into the ropes. Windham bounced off the ropes as well, and when the men met in the center of the ring, each tried a clothesline and both of them went down. The reaction of the crowd turned to boo's as The Grappler began to kick the toe of his infamous boot onto the canvas, loading it up. Both Windham and Grappler began to get to their feet, and on the floor David Manning was starting to crawl back onto the apron. Grappler made it to his feet first, and charged at Windham while Barry was still in a kneeling position and attempted to kick him with the Loaded Boot, but Windham was fast and reared back so that Grappler missed him and his momentum carried him past. Windham grabbed him from behind and rolled him up, just as Manning got fully back into the ring. One, Two, Three! Winner: Barry Windham As Manning was raising the hand of Windham, and irate Grappler clubbed Barry in the back of the head knocking him to the canvas, then kicked him in the head with the Loaded Boot. Windham collapsed to the canvas grasping his face, and before long blood began to pour out from between his fingers. Manning called for help, as The Grappler left the ring nodding his head. 10) Hulk Hogan/The Islanders (Samu/The Tonga Kid) vs The Moondogs (Spot/Cujo/Max) This was a wild brawl from the moment the bell rang as all six men started throwing punches immediately, until Hogan and The Islanders cleared the ring. There was a brief moment of fun as Hogan had to show Tonga Kid how to do the double bicep pose, but then it all broke down again as The Moondogs came back in the ring and the brawl began anew. Finally we were down to Hogan and Spot, and the match was officially started. Hogan had the upper hand at first, but then he got too close to the Moondog corner and four hands grabbed hold of him and Spot was able to catch him with a big headbutt. After that The Moondogs used frequent tags and beat down the AWA World Heavyweight Champion unmercifully. The Islanders tried several times to come and help him, but referee Ron West constantly pushed them back out of the ring, which let The Moondogs choke, bite, and hit Hogan with the giant bone they brought to the ring. Finally, it looked like Hogan might be all done when Max drilled him with a huge Running Slam and got the One, Two, Thr..KICKOUT!!! Hogan was up to his knee's! Punch after punch rained down onto the champion, but he ignored them all! When he got to his feet Max threw a haymaker, but Hogan blocked it! YOU!! Boom! Punch to Max! Spot came in! Boom! Punch to Spot! Here comes Cujo! Boom! Punch to Cujo! Hogan leaps forward and tags both Islanders!! Samu and Tonga come in the ring and begin laying vicious chops onto all three Moondogs. A huge thrust kick from Tonga sends Spot sailing out of the ring! A double thrust kick from both Islanders sends the massive Cujo sailing over the top rope! Hogan is back to his feet and The Islanders whip Max into a Big Boot! Down he goes!! Hogan bounces off the ropes... LEG DROP!!! Tonga heads up top, Samu grabs him and hurls him off... FLYING SPLASH!!! One, Two, Three!!! Winners: Hulk Hogan and The Islanders (Samu/The Tonga Kid) 11) The Road Warriors (Animal/Hawk) w/Paul Ellering vs The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton/Dennis Condrey) w/Jim Cornette - AWA World Tag Teams Titles vs AWA World Class Tag Team Titles Cornette looked on the verge of a coronary before the bell rang, and was in hysterics as both Bobby and Dennis were tossed around the ring by Animal in the opening moments of the match. The Midnight Express attempted to regroup in the corner, but a double noggin knocker ended that. A press slam for Bobby, a press slam for Dennis, and Cornette was using the tennis racket to fan them on the outside of the ring. Finally, five minutes into the match Eaton managed to knee Hawk in the back as he bounced off the ropes and it allowed Dennis to take him down with a clothesline. The Express then went to work, making frequent tags, double teaming Hawk, and doing everything they could think of to keep the big man down. Then Dennis Condrey went for the kill and hit Hawk with a huge piledriver. Dennis got back to his feet with a huge smile on his face and turned to his corner only to see Cornette with a look of terror on his face, and Eaton pointing behind him. Hawk had popped back up from the piledriver like it had sent a bolt of lightning threw him, and when Dennis turned around, Hawk stuck out his tongue and flexed his muscles at Dennis who began to back away. Hawk grabbed Dennis and whipped him into the ropes and then nailed him with a dropkick! Eaton charged into the ring, which brought Animal into the ring ring and then all four men were brawling. Cornette jumped up onto the ring apron, and was immediately set upon by Paul Ellering who yanked him off of the apron. Cornette tried to toss the tennis racket to Eaton, but Hawk intercepted it, and blasted Bobby in the head with it. Referee James Beard called for the Disqualification. Winners, by Disqualification: The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton/Dennis Condrey) 12) The Junkyard Dog vs "Dr. D" David Schultz - AWA World Class Heavyweight Title As David Schultz was walking down the aisle toward the ring, from out of the crowd, dressed in street clothes, came Big John Studd. Studd slammed a steel chair over the head of Schultz which sent "Dr. D" staggering into the guard rail. A second shot from the chair directly on top of the head of Schultz sent him to the ground. Studd then tossed the chair down at his feet, and pulled a now bleeding Schultz off of the floor and hoisted him in the air. Studd held him aloft for several seconds before body slamming him directly onto the chair. Bill Watts, Bob Geigel, The Junkyard Dog, and a host of security, referee's, and other World Class officials came out to confront Studd, who began demanding to be placed in the championship match. JYD agreed to fight him, but Watts could be heard yelling "Hell No" and before long St. Louis police arrived on the scene and handcuffed Studd before leading him out of the arena. Medical personnel came to the scene and evaluated Schultz and determined that he needed to be taken to the hospital for stitches, a likely concussion, and possible damage to his back and ribs from the bodyslam. They tried to put him on a stretcher, but he fought that and was instead mostly carried out by the medical personnel. Bill Watts went to the ring with JYD and apologized to the fans saying that the match was going to have to be postponed because everyone had already competed tonight, and they didn't have anyone suitable to wrestle. The fans chanted for Watts to wrestle, but he laughed it off saying he didn't want the Dog to embarrass him. Then a voice rang out across the arena "I'll wrestle him" All eyes turned to Nick Bockwinkel standing up at the announce position. "I know I wasn't brought here to compete this evening, but since these fine people paid to see Mr. Dog wrestle, and he needs an opponent, I will volunteer. It doesn't have to be for the championship since I haven't earned a title shot, but there is no need for anyone to be disappointed when I am perfectly capable of competing. I'd just need a few minutes to change into my trunks and boots." Watts shakes his head Yes and then looks to JYD. The Dog takes the microphone... "If your willing to come in the Dog's Yard to give these people what they paid to see, the Dog will put the title on the line!" The crowd goes nuts, Watts gives a thumbs up, and Bockwinkel nods in agreement as he heads towards the locker room. 13) "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin w/Precious vs Barry Windham - AWA Central States Title Barry Windham came to the ring with his head bandaged up and looked far worse for wear than his opponent, after two grueling matches and the loaded boot attack, compared to Garvin's one grueling match which he had help winning. His odds got a little better when Bill Watts marched to ringside and sent Precious to the back, and threatened to fire anyone who interfered in this match. Needless to say that Jimmy Garvin wasn't happy about it, and he Pearl Harbored Windham before the bell rang to let Watts and everyone else know. Garvin went right to work on the head, tearing the bandages away, and then stomping the area repeatedly until the blood was flowing again. Garvin then whipped Barry into the turnbuckle and went for the big ten punch count along, but when he got to six, Barry grabbed his legs, charged forward and gave Garvin a reverse atomic drop that Jimmy was not prepared for. As Garvin was tip toeing around the ring, waving his arms in the air, Windham blasted him with a right hand, and another. Then Windham scooped him up and gave him a proper atomic drop, the momentum of this one sent Garvin sailing over the top rope and too the floor! Barry wiped the blood from his face and followed Garvin to the floor. Windham was attempting to pull Garvin up by the hair, but Jimmy hooked the front of his tights and leveraged him into the ringpost. Garvin got to his feet with a smirk and pulled Barry off the floor, smashed his face into the apron, and then tossed him back into the ring. Garvin immediately went for a cover, but Windham kicked out at two. Garvin pulled the bloody Windham back to his feet, gave him a big bodyslam, then dropped an elbow on him. Garvin covered again, and again only got two. Garvin dropped a knee onto the face of Windham, then sat him up and applied a rear chinlock. Garvin was taunting Windham, and telling him to quit, but Referee Alfred Neely indicated that Windham was not submitting. Garvin pulled Barry to his feet and sent him into the ropes, and gave him a big back body drop. Garvin cockily covered Barry, and again Windham kicked out at two. Garvin yelled out "alright, that's it!" and yanked Windham to his feet and then hooked him, and hoisted him up for the Brainbuster. Garvin drove Windham hard into the mat and Neely counted the One, Two, Thre..foot on the ropes. Garvin banged the mat in frustration, and then questioned the referee's count. He grabbed the blood stained hair of Windham and jerked him to his feet, Garvin whipped him into the ropes again, and Windham nailed him with the Lariat!! Both men were down, and Neely began his ten count. Garvin actually got to his feet first at 7, and went after Windham, again grabbing two handfuls of hair and pulling him to his feet. Barry was apparently playing a bit of possum, as he rolled Garvin into a small package and Neely counted the One, Two, Three! Winner, and NEW AWA Central States Champion: Barry Windham! 14) The Junkyard Dog vs Nick Bockwinkel - AWA World Class Heavyweight Title Bockwinkel offered the handshake at the beginning of this one, and although Dog looked wary, he took it and the two competitors shook hands. They locked up and Dog was able to overpower Nick and back him into the corner. The referee called for the break, and JYD gave it to him clean. They locked up again and this time Bockwinkel was able to back JYD into the ropes, again the referee called for the break. Bockwinkel pulled away, and everyone was waiting for the cheap shot, but the break was clean. They locked up again and this time it was the power of JYD that won out, and he nailed Bockwinkel with a big bodyslam, and the match was underway! The opening minutes saw JYD used his power advantage to work over Bockwinkel with some early high impact offense that looked to have the Dog firmly in the drivers seat early. Another big slam, some stomps and elbow drops while Nick was on the mat, even a big takeover suplex that had the crowd on it's feet. Then JYD clamped on a side headlock and really grinded down on Bockwinkel. But Nick bided his time, and when the Dog let up, Nick made his way out into a hammerlock, then dropped down and hooked the legs of JYD and took him down. Bockwinkel then floated over into a side headlock of his own. Bockwinkel worked the headlock for nearly a minute, not only wearing down JYD, but using the time to allow himself to recover as well. JYD managed to get to his feet, and Bockwinkel used a back switch to get behind the Dog and dropped him with a belly to back suplex. Nick then took hold of the leg of JYD and dropped an elbow to the knee, and then clamped on a leg hold. JYD grabbed hold of the head of Bockwinkel and was able to get Nick to release the leg hold when he clamped on a headlock, but Bockwinkel rolled out of it, and both men got back to their feet. On and on from this point the match went this way, Bockwinkel attempting to control JYD with technical wrestling, and the Dog using brawling and power techniques to put Bockwinkel down at every opportunity. As the match marched past the twenty five minute mark, the game plan of Nick Bockwinkel was working well. The Junkyard Dog was pouring sweat and breathing heavily, and while Bockwinkel had taken a beating, he wasn't even breathing heavily. He continued to attack the legs of JYD whenever the opportunity presented itself, and soon after the Dog was limping. At the thirty six minute mark, Bockwinkel had the Dog caught in an arm wringer, but JYD reversed it and sent Nick into the ropes. Dog went for a clothesline, but Bockwinkel ducked it and went in to the opposite ropes. JYD turned and caught Bockwinkel in a huge Powerslam! Referee Davind Manning counted One, Two, Thr..Bockwinkel got his shoulder up at the last possible second. JYD got exhaustedly to his feet, and pulled Bockwinkel up. Dog lifted Bockwinkel for another slam, but Nick grabbed his leg and rolled him into a small package! Manning counted One, Two, Thr..KICKOUT!! Both men got to their feet, but Bockwinkel was up first and as soon as Dog was up, Bockwinkel kicked the injured leg out from under JYD and then immediately applied the Figure Four Leglock. JYD struggled and reached for Bockwinkel to try and punch his way out of the hold, but Bockwinkel was too smart for that. Nick pushed all of his weight up on to his elbows to ratchet up the pressure, as the Dog tried to reach for the ropes only to find he was just short. Bockwinkel pulled on the foot of JYD, as the Dog tried to roll the hold over with no luck. Finally JYD dug the palms of his hands into the mat and drug himself and all of the weight of Bockwinkel toward the ropes, and managed to grab the bottom rope. Bockwinkel pulled Dog to his feet, or foot as he could barely put weight on the one leg, only to be met with a huge headbutt! JYD fired another headbutt at Bockwinkel and it staggered Nick backwards. JYD hopped forward, and blasted Bockwinkel with another headbutt, and again Bockwinkel staggered back. Hop, headbutt, stagger, hop, headbutt, stagger. They made it all the way across the ring and on one leg JYD was back in control! Another headbutt sent Bockwinkel teetering backwards into the ropes, and he crashed forward to the canvas....clipping the leg of JYD on the way down. Bockwinkel looked to be out on the mat, JYD was clutching his knee, and Manning was asking Dog if he wanted him to stop the match. Dog's answer of "Hell No" was loud and clear and he began to crawl toward the ropes to pull himself up, as Bockwinkel had not moved. Manning's ten count had reached five by the time JYD managed to get himself to his feet. He limped over and reached down to get two handfuls of Bockwinkel's hair and began to pull him to his feet. Bockwinkel reached forward and grabbed the legs of an unprepared JYD and pulled them out from under him. He then rolled through with a jackknife cradle, and David Manning counted One, Two, Three. Winner, and NEW AWA World Class Heavyweight Champion: Nick Bockwinkel!
SirEdger
OK, this might be my favorite show in this whole project so far. No kidding. LOVED the creative finish to the Jimmy Garvin/Kerry Von Erich quarter-final match. The big strength of this show was exactly that; the finishes. 14 segments with 14 different scenarios to close them. Big kudos to you for pulling that off.
GeneJackson95
HUGE show that really delivered HUGE results! Even though he came up short in the finals you have to believe that Jimmy Garvin is going to get a ton of mileage out of eliminating both Von Erichs from the tournament! Huge win for Brian Adias winning the big battle royal! Even though it's been so well built, I'm sure there were a lot of fans shocked with DJ Peterson defeating Hercules for the TV title, great match! Good finish to get more heat on the Midnights as well as get them out of the title vs. title stip with everyone's belts in tact. Windham is a great choice for Central States champion and I feel like his match with Saito really stood out here for both guys. Fun way to get the belt on Bockwinkle on here....I like it...JYD is super over in this territory and really doesn't need the belt to draw....while Bockwinkle will be able to have some awesome title defenses that will draw huge with Kerry/Kevin/Windham/etc.
kevinmcfl
Great event... So many different types of match ups and finishes! Precious with the Purse takes Kerry out. The purse was the most lethal weapon in World Class history. Was surprised to see Adias win the big battle royal but World Class always had a soft spot for him Hercules vs Peterson would have been a great watch. Peterson could have been really big and nice to see him getting a title run here but I am sure Hercules will be back stronger then ever. Brad Armstrong vs Tiger Conway Jr. was also a nice match that really delivered. I knew Eddie Hogan would be up to no good. Once Hulk denied his claim that he was his brother, I knew we would see Eddie go heel and what a way to go heel in World Class... attack a VonErich. To me, Road Warriors vs MNE pits the two greatest tag teams in the game and I am glad that no team was completely dominant. Windham is a great choice for the Central States champ as is Bockwinkel for the World Class Champ!
Blehschmidt
-Broadcasting live to our local affiliates in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri, as well as in Syndication across these great United States, the American Wrestling Association proudly presents World Class Wrestling, coming to you this week from the Memorial Hall in Kansas City!- The camera cuts to Jim Ross, Bill Watts, and Nick Bockwinkel all sitting at the announce position. The AWA World Class Heavyweight Title is sitting folded on the table in front of Bockwinkel. Jim Ross: Hello everyone and welcome to AWA World Class Wrestling, I'm Jim Ross, joined this evening by "Cowboy" Bill Watts and the new AWA World Class Heavyweight Champion, Nick Bockwinkel. For those of you who weren't in attendance with us last night at Independence Day Star Wars, I am sure you are wondering how that happened. Well I promise you we'll get into that and whole lot more right here tonight. Before either Watts or Bockwinkel have a chance to speak, The Junkyard Dog walks out of the back, sporting something of a limp, and heads directly to the ring. He grabs the microphone out of the hand of Marc Lowrance and heads straight to where the announcers are sitting. Junkyard Dog: Nick Bockwinkel, I'm not a man who comes out here and cries about losing. You beat me fair and square last night, and I got no excuses. But, I'm out here right now to ask you man to man to step into that ring and wrestle me again, right here tonight. What do you say? Bockwinkel thinks it over for a moment and then stands up and holds out his hand for the microphone. JYD hands it to him and Bockwinkel nods his head. Nick Bockwinkel: Mr. Dog, I respect the fact that you've come out here and acknowledged that last night I was the better man. I respect the fact instead of ranting and raving, you've come out here and respectfully asked me to step into the ring and compete against you again. So Yes, I accept your challenge to compete against you tonight. A big smile crosses the face of JYD and he nods his head and extends his hands to Bockwinkel for a handshake. Nick Bockwinkel: Furthermore Mr. Dog, I feel like testing myself this evening. As you learned last night, I am something of a technical wrestling expert. While you seem to excel in more of a brawling environment. Last night I defeated you in a straight up wrestling contest, so this evening, I want to test myself in your world. I don't believe that either of us wants, or is prepared for another match that is going to last well over half an hour. So I only accept your challenge if we agree to make this match No Disqualifications, and No Count Out. What do you say Mr. Dog? JYD looks at Bockwinkel a little sideways, but shrugs his shoulders and says "Okay." Bockwinkel reaches out and shakes the hand of JYD, then leans in close to him and speaks in a more hushed, more serious tone. Nick Bockwinkel: One final stipulation Mr. Dog. I will only agree to step into that ring and put MY title on the line if you agree to put your continued employment here in AWA World Class on the line. Because once I've defeated you for a second time, I don't plan to waste my precious time stepping into the ring with you again. So let's say if I win, you walk away for one year. I'll be waiting in the ring come main event time. You can think about it until then. Don't make a decision you'll regret. Bockwinkel scoops the title off the desk, nods at Ross and Watts and heads for the back as JYD stands staring Bockwinkel down. -Commercial Break- Jim Ross: Welcome back Ladies and Gentleman, let's quickly break down what happened before the break and what led to it. Last night at Star Wars, The Junkyard Dog was scheduled to defend the World Class Title against David Schultz. Before that match could occur David Schultz was viciously attacked by Big John Studd who we had not seen since he was defeated by JYD at the previous Star Wars. With Schultz unable to compete, and JYD without an opponent, Bockwinkel offered to wrestle Dog in his place. Dog being a fighting champion agreed and put the title on the line. What followed was a nearly forty minute classic that saw Bockwinkel win the title. Now tonight JYD has come out and asked for a chance to regain his title, and Bockwinkel has accepted the match, but only under a No Count Out, No Disqualification stipulation, and he is insisting that The Junkyard Dog voluntarily leave World Class Wrestling for one year should he not win the match! Bill Watts: The match was last night was fantastic. A great display of wrestling, and in the end, it was Bockwinkel's night. But this stuff tonight reeks Jim. He can act all prim and proper like he does, but it seems to me like he knows he got lucky last night, and he doesn't want to step into that ring again, but he also knows that if he says No, he'll look like a coward. So he makes the match with the No Rules stipulation so he can cheat, then he adds the crap about Dog putting his career on the line in hopes that JYD won't accept it, so that he'll look like the coward. Jim Ross: Are you gonna let this happen Bill? Bill Watts: I've known The Junkyard Dog a long time Jim. If he decides he wants to do this, hell won't stand in his way. Yeah, I'll make the match. Jim Ross: There you have it folks. Let's head down to the ring where Marc Lowrance is with some special guests. We cut to ringside where Marc Lowrance is standing with "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin, Precious, and Eddie Hogan except Hogan is no longer wearing red and yellow, instead opting for tiger striped tights with fishnet covered holes. He has also shaved his mustache and his bleached blonde hair is now dyed brown and teased to ridiculous levels. Marc Lowrance: Ladies and Gentleman, I am standing here with the man who last night came very close to becoming the Central States Champion Jim Garvin and.... Jimmy Garvin: WOAH! WOAH! WOAH! Stop right there Marc Lowrance! First of all, my name is "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin, and you will address me as such. Secondly, the only reason I am not Central States Champion is because Barry Windham was pulling my trunks. Marc Lowrance: My apologies. I am standing here with "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin, his lovely valet Precious, and the man who cost Kevin Von Erich his chance at the Central States Title, Eddie Hog.. "WOAH! WOAH! WOAH! Stop right there Marc Lowrance! First of all, I will no longer be answering to that name, because I will no longer be associating with losers. Secondly, the only reason I was in the ring at Star Wars is because it looked like Precious was about to drop her purse, and what kind of man would I be if I didn't assist a lady. Anyway, as I was turning around to give it to her, I accidentally bumped into Kevin Von Erich with it, and apparently he has a glass chin, because the weight of her hair brush and make up knocked him out. I don't know what you want me to do about that. Marc Lowrance: What name should we call you now? "Brutus Beefcake" Marc Lowrance: Brutus Beefcake? Brutus Beefcake: Oh Yeah! Brutus Beefcake! Marc Lowrance: and you expect us to believe that story about the purse? Brutus Beefcake: You calling me a liar Lowrance? Jimmy Garvin: Brutus! Calm down, don't let this peon get to you. Let's get to the reason we are out here tonight. You know, other than looking good! Both men posture and preen to the boo's of the crowd as Precious fluffs the hair of Garvin. Jimmy Garvin: Barry Windham, since you had to cheat to beat me, I want a rematch, and I want it right here tonight! There is a stir from the crowd, and an eruption of cheers, as Kendall Windham comes from the back and marches right into the midst of the interview. Kendall Windham: Garvin, you know darn well my brother beat you fair and square! Jimmy Garvin: Whatever! Just get him out here so I can have my rematch! Kendall Windham: You also know that he had to get stitches after the match last night and the doctor isn't gonna let him wrestle. Jimmy Garvin: Likely excuse! Kendall Windham: But I'm here! I'll wrestle you! Heck, I'll go get me a partner, and I'll wrestle both of you sissies! Brutus Beefcake: Sissy! Who you calling a sissy punk! You're On! Kendall looks excited, Beefcake looks fired up, and Garvin looks annoyed as the show heads to commercial. -Commercial Break- 1 Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit -Brian Adias vs The Bounty Hunter- Adias didn't waste much time in the ring tonight, going straight after the masked man, working him over with a series of arm drags, a nice dropkick, and put him away with the Russian Leg Sweep in just under two minutes. Winner: Brian Adias Jim Ross: Brian Adias makes short work of his opponent tonight. Between that showing and his big win in the battle royal last night at Star Wars, you'd have to think he'd be in contention for a shot at the Central States or Television Title. Bill Watts: He has no doubt looked impressive, and the championship committee has it's eyes on everyone right now. Jim Ross: Alright folks, let's see if Kendall Windham was able to find a partner to take on Jimmy Garvin and Eddie Ho...Brutus Beefcake. Bill Watts: We know Barry Windham isn't here tonight, but I have to think someone back in that locker room would jump at the chance to punch Garvin in the mouth. Jim Ross: It looks like your right, here comes Kendall with Chick Donovan! 1 Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit -Kendall Windham/Chick Donovan vs Brutus Beefcake/"Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin w/Precious- As soon as the bell rang, a fired up Kendall charged across the ring and blasted Beefcake with a huge right hand that sent him out of the ring! Kendall then turned to Garvin who charged at him, but Kendall nailed him with a big hip toss! Garvin popped back to his feet, only to eat a big dropkick! Garvin rolled out to the floor to regroup with Beefcake as the K.C. crowd was going crazy for Kendall Windham. Garvin took his time before heading back into the ring, and when he did he circled Kendall and stalled before going into the collar and elbow. The crowd went crazy again when Kendall snapped him over into a headlock, and then proceeded to mess up his hair. Garvin complained loudly to the referee and then tagged in Beefcake. Beefcake charged at Kendall, only to be caught in a headlock takeover of his own, snapped over, have his hair messed up, and immediately retreat to the corner. Garvin and Beefcake stood in the corner, refusing to come out and fight, until finally Kendall had enough and went over and tagged Chick Donovan. Donovan entered the ring, and sucker punched Kendall Windham who hit the mat and was out like a light. Donovan casually pulled what looked to be a pair of brass knuckles off his fist, and stuffed them into his trunks before opening his arms wide toward Garvin and Beefcake. From the corner, Garvin and Beefcake begin to laugh, and then walk forward, casually stepping over the unconscious Windham to embrace Donovan. All three men then exit the ring to a huge round of boo's. Winner: No Contest Marc Lowrance is waiting outside the ring and catches Garvin, Precious, Beefcake, and Donovan as they are leaving. Marc Lowrance: What precisely was that? Jimmy Garvin: That Marc Lowrance was a double cross! Marc Lowrance: Chick Donovan, what's the meaning of this? Chick Donovan: I saw Kendall Windham out here running his mouth earlier, and I saw an opportunity for Chick Donovan to align himself with some like minded individuals. So when Kendall came back to the dressing room, I volunteered to be his partner. Then I went to Jimmy Garvin's dressing room and I said Jimmy Garvin, what you and Brutus Beefcake got going on, I wanna be a part of. So you go out in that ring tonight and you let that skinny little punk think he has the upper hand, then when the time is right, I'll knock him six ways from Sunday, then me, you, Beefcake, and Precious can go out and party the night away. Brutus Beefcake: So if you'll excuse us Marc Lowrance, you and your stupid questions, are standing between us and the champagne. All three men break into laughter as Precious smirks, and then all four exit, as Kendall Windham is receiving medical attention in the ring. -Commercial Break- Jim Ross: Welcome back folks, just before the break we saw a despicable display as Chick Donovan has chosen to align himself with Jimmy Garvin and Brutus Beefcake and did so at the expense of Kendall Windham. Bill Watts: I'm not sure what is going on here tonight Jim. Seems like everyone's lost their minds after Star Wars. Jim Ross: Speaking of which, here comes Nick Bockwinkel toward the ring. Have we heard what The Junkyard Dog is going to do? Bill Watts: Jim, I know The Junkyard Dog better than most. He isn't going to back down from the challenge. He is going to come out here, and he is going to fight. Jim Ross: Sure enough Bill! Here comes the JYD!! Bill Watts: I had no doubts... 1 Fall, 60 Minute Time Limit -The Junkyard Dog vs Nick Bockwinkel- No Disqualification, No Count Out - AWA World Class Heavyweight Title Both men were tentative after the bell rang, circling one another and feeling each other out for the lock up. Once they locked up, Bockwinkel was quick to go to the headlock, and then punched JYD hard in the face with a closed fist. The Dog fired Bockwinkel off of him into the ropes and put him down hard with a shoulderblock. JYD dropped down onto all fours, and nailed Bockwinkel with a headbutt. Dog pulled Bockwinkel up by the hair and blasted him with a series of right hands, then nailed him with another big headbutt. Bockwinkel staggered backwards several steps and fell backwards out of the ring. JYD wasted no time following him outside, and immediately pulled him to his feet. Dog smashed the head of Bockwinkel off the ring apron, then bodyslammed him on the concrete floor. While Dog was busy taking it too Bockwinkel on the floor, he failed to notice the commotion in the crowd behind him. Dog was pulling Bockwinkel to his feet when a man in a hooded sweatshirt came over the guard rail with a steel chair, and JYD had just rolled Bockwinkel back into the ring when the man pulled down the hood to reveal Big John Studd. Junkyard Dog never saw Studd, before Studd bashed him in the head with a steel chair from behind. JYD dropped to his knee's and Studd blasted him again. Studd tossed the chair aside and hoisted the unconscious Dog onto his feet, and shoved him into the ring. A recovering Bockwinkel crawled over and covered JYD, and referee Alfred Neely had no choice but to count One, Two, Three. Winner, and Still AWA World Class Heavyweight Champion: Nick Bockwinkel Jim Ross: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE!! Bill Watts: A damn set up. Bill Watts throws down his head set and leaves the announce position to head for the ring. Jim Ross: Cowboy Bill Watts is heading for the ring, and according to the stipulations for the match, The Junkyard Dog is going to have leave World Class for a year. Folks, lets take a commercial break, and we'll try to sort this whole thing out when we get back. -Commercial Break- Jim Ross: Ladies and Gentleman, we are back, and here is where we are. Cowboy Bill Watts and referee Alfred Neely just had to walk a clearly concussed Junkyard Dog out of the arena. He just lost to Nick Bockwinkel, thanks to interference from Big John Studd, which was allowed due to the stipulations of the match. Also due to the stipulations of the match, the Junkyard Dog will now be forced to leave World Class for one year. We still have time left in the show, so we are going to go to a stand by match, and I'm not sure what else to tell you folks. 1 Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit -Italian Stallion vs Bill Rathke- These two got about two minutes of wrestling in before Big John Studd hit the ring and leveled both men with clotheslines. He tossed Rathke over the top rope to the floor and then gave the Stallion a huge bodyslam before kicking him out of the ring. He then pointed at Marc Lowrance and pointed at the spot in the ring next to him. Winner: No Contest As Marc Lowrance was heading into the ring to join Big John Studd, Nick Bockwinkel came back out of the dressing room with a towel around his neck and the AWA World Class Heavyweight Title around his waist. He came into the ring and joined Studd and Lowrance. Marc Lowrance: Well? Studd wraps his massive hand around the throat of Lowrance and leans down into his face. Big John Studd: You will speak to Mr. Bockwinkel with respect little man. Nick Bockwinkel: It's okay John. Let the imbecile be. He just doesn't understand the beauty of what we've done. Studd let's go of Lowrance who immediately grabs at his throat. Bockwinkel takes the microphone from him, and shoo's him out of the ring. Nick Bockwinkel: Since I can only assume that most of you simpleton's haven't pieced this together yet, I am going to go ahead and lay it out for you. On Memorial Day, my friend John Studd here competed for the championship I now hold, but was robbed of his opportunity by the man who was supposed to be guiding his career. Since that time he has been away evaluating his career and deciding on his next course of action. When I signed to be part of AWA World Class Wrestling, I contacted my old friend John and I presented him with an opportunity for the two of us to work together. Then I made my debut under the guise of providing commentary, while all along waiting for last night and the big Star Wars show to maximize the impact of my plan. So you see, I had John here take out David Schultz last night, then I stepped up to save the show, and even offered to do it without the championship on the line. But I knew that the ego of The Junkyard Dog would never allow him to not defend the championship on the big stage, and when I was proved correct, I used my superior skill to defeat him and become the World Class Heavyweight Champion. Then I knew that tonight or some night soon Junkyard Dog would come asking for his rematch, so I planned on offering the stipulations that seemed weighted in his favor, only to goad him into the stipulation that he must leave World Class as an addendum. Then, when the time was right, the whole of our clever ruse could be revealed. Mr. Studd could appear from the crowd, destroy The Junkyard Dog, send him on his way from World Class Wrestling, and reveal our alliance to the world. So as you see, the most powerful duo in the history of this company now stand before you. Myself, Nick Bockwinkel, as the AWA World Class Heavyweight Champion, and Big John Studd, soon to be either Central States Champion, or Television Champion, perhaps both. Furthermore, if Hulk Hogan decides to show his face around here any time soon, the two of us will be looking for an opportunity to challenge for that AWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship as well. Is there anything you'd like to add Mr. Studd? Big John Studd: Anyone who thinks they stand a chance against myself or Nick Bockwinkel, had better think again! Nick Bockwinkel: I couldn't have said it better myself! Bockwinkel and Studd leave the ring to a massive chorus of boo's as the show fades to black. spaldoni
Before reading your latest show I wanted to comment on the outstanding Star Wars show. Eddie Hogan is becoming such a great character. I love what you're doing with him. The Central States tournament was really well done. I had no idea who was going to win it. Barry fought some tough battles and defiantly earned it. Now he has some great challengers with Grappler and Garvin. Adias gets a huge rub with that battle royal win. The Movement looked strong in that as well. DJ Peterson was built up nicely and was primed for this title win over Herc. This win catapults Peterson to another level. Armstrong just seemed one step ahead of Conway but of course the Movement was lurking and caused the DQ. Islanders got a huge shine tonight teaming up with Hogan and defeating the Moondogs. Cornette must be happy that his Midnight Express walked out of that match alive as the Road Warriors looked unstoppable. What a shocking turn of events! Your main event scene is so interesting right now. Studd takes Dr. D out of the match then gets escorted out by Security. Bock volunteers and man does this pay off. JYD and Bock put on an epic match and in the end Bock is the champ! Very awesome and creative angle here. All I can say is I cant wait for the next Star Wars card! GeneJackson95
Great TV coming off the big show! I like the transition of Eddie Hogan into Brutus Beefcake.....Chic Donovan makes a good third member of this trio with Brutus and Garvin, this will be fun to watch develop. I love the reveal from Bockwinkle/Studd revealing their alliance and fool proof plan to take the title and rid World Class of JYD. Awesome job of coming off a hot show and keeping the momentum going! spaldoni
What a follow up! LOL, Brutus Beefcake is born. Kendal fights for his brother and recruits Chick Donovan but Chick has plans of his own and aligns with Garvin and Brutus. I love this! I'm sure you will have a lot of fun writing for those three. Adias continues his winning ways. Huge swerve as Bock masterminds the perfect plan! Stud helps Bock send JYD packing then unveils his well orchestrated plan. Man, what a duo! What a story! Things will get really interesting when Dr. D comes back. You are truly making the most of your roster. In typical Watts fashion, everybody has something to do. Keep up the great work brother! kevinmcfl
Nice transition to your new angles here. I knew JYD was in trouble as I heard No DQ! Studd watching Bock's back is going to make it tough of taking the title off of him. The name change here to Brutus Beekcake works well as you set it up nicely! I could just see the young teenager so excited for his match with Garvin and Beekcake that he runs to the back and quickly accepts the first partner he sees... WHAM... the Double Cross! A great show without a VonErich in it shows that this isn't Frtitz's World Class anymore! You have it a such a place that it works with them or without them

GeneJackson95
Another big win for the Glamour Boys defeating the Movement who are red hot right now The Islanders vs. The Moondogs had to be a heavy hitting slug fest! Nice victory for the Grappler beating Adias who has been on a roll recently Garvin and company got the best of Kendall on tv...but this time he had two guys he could trust in brother Barry and Sam Houston.....Donovan will clearly be the "Buddy Roberts" of this trio. I'm a big fan of Saito...always have been....I feel like the fans would have really up for this match with Kerry in all these venues Bockwinkel's alliance with Studd will serve him well it seems....I'm sure he had a classic with Kevin before the interference
SirEdger
Man, you can have so much leg with Kerry vs Bock. I know you'll do it justice!

spaldoni
I agree, Bock and Kevin is money! Also love the Islanders and Moondogs brawling. Glamour Boys keep moving up the ladder. And hey how about Kerry and Saito. That's a gem.
Crazymax Jack
Enjoyed the pairing of Jimmy Garvin and Brutus Beefcake here. I had a writer in an old league of mine create the same team in the past so it brings back fun memories and its great to see someone else with a similar vision. I guess there's something about these two that compliment each other. They have similar enough characters with Garvin obviously being the worker of the unit. Precious makes a great addition, makes you wonder if Garvin will become jealous of Brutus way down the line. Chic makes a fun third wheel to mix up the unit. Windham vs Garvin was also really solid. Love your writing. Well organized, easy on the eyes, and the promos are good stuff. Really like Bill Watts here. Dog vs. Bockwinkel was a good piece of business with Studd. Poor JYD, and everyone else who has to deal with Studd while going after Bock. I'm also a fan of the name The Movement over the Zambuie Express. I guess Dusty isn't booking them Some good talent here and your hard work writing TV pays off as the shows read well. Very entertaining.
Blehschmidt
-Broadcasting live to our local affiliates in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri, as well as in Syndication across these great United States, the American Wrestling Association proudly presents World Class Wrestling, coming to you this week from the Sportatorium in Dallas!- The camera fades in too Marc Lowrance who is standing by the ring in an empty Sportatorium. Marc Lowrance: Good Evening Ladies and Gentleman, I am Marc Lowrance, welcoming you to a special edition of AWA World Class Wrestling. Tonight we are going to bring you some of the exciting action from the Star Wars special that took place eight days ago on the Fourth of July. Tonight we are going to see the Television Championship showdown between Hercules Hernandez and DJ Peterson, as well as the Semifinal and Final of the tournament for the Central States Title. We will also talk to the Television Champion live here at the Sportatorium! So let's get right to it! Taped 7-4 in St. Louis 1 Fall, 30 Minute Time Limit -Kevin Von Erich vs "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin w/Precious- Garvin attempted his stalling techniques with another Von Erich but Kevin wasn't falling for it. Winner: Jimmy Garvin -Commercial Break- Marc Lowrance: So as you just saw folks, Jimmy Garvin with an underhanded victory thanks to the man we are now calling Brutus Beefcake moved on to the finals. Let's watch the other semi-final and see who his opponent would be. Taped 7-4 in St. Louis 1 Fall, 30 Minute Time Limit -Barry Windham vs The Grappler- A fairly even contest in the opening minutes that saw both men attempting to gain an advantage using technical wrestling. -Commercial Break- Marc Lowrance: So, the finals of the Central States Title Tournament will be Barry Windham taking on Jimmy Garvin. Before we get to that match, let's check out the TV Title battle. Taped 7-4 in St. Louis 1 Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit -Hercules Hernandez w/Percival Pringle III vs DJ Peterson - AWA World Class Television Title These two started off with a shoving match that turned into a slug fest in the middle of the ring. Marc Lowrance: Ladies and Gentleman, please welcome the new AWA World Class Television Champion, DJ Peterson! DJ walks onto the screen wearing a Golds Gym shirt and blue jeans, the AWA World Class Television Title on his shoulder. DJ Peterson: Thank you for having me out here tonight Marc. I just want to say what an honor it is to represent World Class as the Television champion, and I want everyone to know that unlike Hercules, I will defend this title against anyone, anywhere, at any time. Marc Lowrance: How did it feel to get that big win? DJ Peterson: It was unbelievable Marc. I kept telling everybody that if Hercules would give me one more shot that I could beat him. Then he just kept ducking me and ducking me. When Bill Watts said that I was getting the shot, I knew I had to make it count, so I came out there and gave a hundred and ten percent, and now I'm the champion. Marc Lowrance: Ladies and Gentleman, DJ Peterson! -Commercial Break- Taped 7-4 in St. Louis 1 Fall, 60 Minute Time Limit -Barry Windham vs "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin w/Precious- Barry Windham came to the ring with his head bandaged up and looked far worse for wear than his opponent, after two grueling matches and the loaded boot attack, compared to Garvin's one grueling match which he had help winning. Marc Lowrance: There you saw it folks, Barry Windham overcomes the odds and becomes the Central States Champion. We were hoping to have Barry with us tonight, but he is out defending that title already and couldn't join us. That's all for tonight, but we will be back next week for a night of live wrestling action from our newest television location at the North Side Coliseum in Forth Worth, Texas! I'm Marc Lowrance, Good Night Everyone! Apologies for subjecting you all to a clip show this week, but after writing Star Wars and the follow up TV, I was feeling a little burnt out and decided I could use a week off! SirEdger
Don't feel bad. Recap shows can definitely be helpful; makes the territory breath a little bit. I used to do this every once in a while with Lutte Internationale in the 1983 Project.
spaldoni
I agree, it's good to take a breather and regroup. I use to love recap and clip shows because I got to see what went down at the big events.
