Oh come on, Vince may be crazy, but he's not that crazy.

Oh he is he thinks yawning is a signing of weakness both in himself and others.

Oh I buy that he hates spitting, but to the point that he would fire Bryan Danielson over it, that I don't buy.

Someone at the Observer board brought up that Vince spit in Bret's face in one of the key Mania angles, so it can't be too big of a no-no.

Personally, I've listened to just about every shoot and podcast Cornette(Maybe HTM also) has done and it's still not old to me. The most interesting and/or the best people are going to get interviewed many times, there is just no way around it. But, if people are buying it, who cares how many times it's done.

The Timeline stuff is a cute concept, but it really depends on who does it. At least it goes against the WWE revisionnist history.

The only good Youshoot stuff was Cornette, because it's Cornette. I listen to his podcast as well, and Cornette rarely gets boring. I don't think Raven did one, and he would be the only other guy that never gets old with me.

The fantasy booking stuff is terrible.

That question is less embarrassing than later in the shoot when Oliver pulls out a bag with a picture of a giant penis on it and asks Maria which wrestlers belong in the "dick-bag."

I sort of chuckled at Maria doing the "back in my day" schtick. A 20-something year old woman, who got a job from the Diva Search is concerned that indy girls in FCW aren't properly paying their dues. God bless pro wres.

Oh God. I have to hear that one.

Essentially Cornette had her set up the ring in OVW and the divas in FCW never, ever do it.

Regarding Bret, it shouldn't be surprising he's marrying younger women when he has admitted in his book that having sex with lots of women was his vice. A guy like that is always going to be attracted to younger women.

I don't really find Bret marrying a younger woman all that weird or surprising. What is a bit weird is him hooking up with mega marks at autograph signings. It really suggests that his vice was less about having sex with lots of women and more about having unconditional, unquestioning, unthinking hero worship. At least Flair picks up his younger wives in more normal surroundings.

I've only seen the 2000 and 1983 timelines with Rikishi and Muraco. Neither blew me away. I could see why HTM would be entertaining, but I'm sure it's chock full of his usual BS.

Cornette's Youshoot is the best by a country mile. New Jack's was pretty funny and Bob Holly's was actually surprisingly informative and Bob really comes across as a nice guy. But Cornette's is miles better.

Watched it, yeah, it was cute to hear her talk about how they used to tell stories back in the days whereas no nothing matters. Sounds like an old territory vet.

Even Maria doesn't like Johnny Ace. Does anyone like that poor schmuck ?

I can't believe she got told one day by the office that she was fat.

Worst question "How big is CM Punk's dick?".

To his credit, Oliver looked ashamed at most stupid question. Maria seems like a cool girl.

I'm in the minority, I kind of like Sean Oliver.

Let me say this. He and his company would be much better at doing regular interview than RF or Highspots are (some Highspots ones are brutal, with the interviewer, whoever the hell he is, sounding like he's sedated). Problem is, they already did pretty much everybody, so Oliver has to find some gimmicks.

For those wondering about Grizzly Smith and his alleged sex crimes, here's what the new Observer says:

The family side of Griz, as he was known in the profession, was very different. In that era, wrestlers as a general rule drank heavily, and part of the fringe benefits was access to women in every city, often teenagers who saw the wrestlers as powerful celebrities. But Smith’s taste in women was even younger than most, and his tastes were well known in the profession long before his son made them public.

For example, McGuirk couldn’t for a long time book him in Texarkana, TX, because of agreements with local authorities to keep him out of town and hush-up his affairs with young teenage girls. One person noted Smith would frequently be around girls 14 or so years old, who he would refer to as his nieces.

Smith was born August 6, 1932, in Gainesville, TX. His propensity for younger women started before he ever got into wrestling. His oldest son, who became Jake Roberts, was born in 1955, to Paula Lorene, who he married to avoid the scandal even though, according to Jake, she was only 12 when Smith got her pregnant with Jake. Smith was actually dating Paula’s mother at the time. After getting married, Smith and Lorene had a daughter, JoLynn. Her half-sister Robin believed JoLynn was molested by her father, leading to her having severe mental health issues, although she had no proof of it. She was 18 when she married a man who was 53, and she was murdered shortly thereafter, a crime that was never solved.

Sister Robin, born in 1964, wrestled as Rockin Robin, but was never acknowledged as being a second generation wrestler or as the sister of Jake Roberts when she worked a few years in WWF, She battled substance problems throughout her wrestling career, and long after it, which she blamed on being sexually abused by her father at a young age. She wrestled from 1986 to 1991, most of that time in the WWF, where she held the women’s title, beating Sensational Sherri (Martel) in 1988 and held it until the company decided to let her go and drop the women’s championship in 1990.

She claimed her father when she was a young child would take her on road trips and molest her, according to the book “Swimming with Piranhas” by Howard Brody, who is friends with Robin Smith. Robin claimed when her mother found out, she got her out of the situation, but for decades she tried to drink away the nightmarish memories.

I posted this at DVDVR, but I thought I'd share it cause I'm thinking it's funnier everytime I listen to the messages.

So, I didn't get home from work until 4:30 am last night. I had a late, late dinner and couldn't fall asleep. I stayed up watching the World Cup with a roommate for awhile, then went to my room and started watching more of Goodhelmet's 4 Horsemen set, DVD #36 which is chock full of classic Flair, Arn, JJ, Tully, Luger, Sting etc promos. I eventually fell asleep with the TV still on and my phone must've fallen out of my pocket. I woke up eventually to turn off the TV as the menu music started after the DVD ended and it's loud Punk Rock. I immediately fell back to sleep hearing nothing else, and got up a few hours later. This time I heard my phone beeping, found it in the sheets, and there were 4 messages from my Dad and Step-Mom in New Jersey. I freaked out, thinking someone's sick or dead. Then I listened to the first message and it was my Step-Mom saying, "Johnny, what's going on? You just called and you weren't answering and it sounds like there's a bunch of screaming crazy people there! Call us back!"

It took me a second, and then I realized that I had been accidentlly dialing and disconnecting and redialing with my feet as I rolled around. The next two messages were more of the same from her, freaking out more and more. The last message was from my Dad who had gotten home and heard the last call. "Johnny! Call us back. We're really worried here, and you're not answering! And there's a crazy man there screaming at you, do you need help?"

This very Cageside Seats worthy:

Some sherdoggers are taking this as proof that UFC are pure evil, while others see for what it is modern marketing to create a buzz.

Here's some better evidence for those Sherdoggers that UFC is pure evil: UFC's Fertitta brothers are not above using illegal tactics to thwart union formation

Anyone with a Torch sub here? Can you tell me what Wade said about Alverez in the after show for the June 24th Torchcast?

Well, first someone called in and mentioned that they typed "Wade Keller" into Youtube and found a clip of Bryan Alvarez sonning him (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILC6ITm9jyI - though Wade wasn't aware of what Bryan said). He said that he doesn't have a problem with Alvarez, but they've disagreed with a few things over the years - in particular The Death of WCW book and one time when Wade overrated a Sabu-RVD match with a number of missed spots. I don't know anything about the latter, but I did read Wade's review of the book and he spent most of it taking the authors to task for overstating the potential of the invasion angle and for not offering a new perspective on why WCW died. And we know how well Bryan takes criticism, so I can imagine him being upset about it years later.

"I had to tell creative, if there is a Fire Russo chant in this arena, I will fire someone else."

There it is, TNA in a nutshell.

I can sort of understand her logic here (without the benefit of context of the question asked and her whole answer). "Fire Russo" to her, means that they hate the booking. Shit rolls downhill, always has and always will. So if the fans dislike the booking, then it's going to be the low man on the totem pole who feels the brunt of it. It's no different than last year when the WWE started feeling the impact of the shitty economy. They didn't respond by firing HHH, Orton, Cena, etc. when they headlined PPVs that drew less money than the previous year. They responded by laying off front office staff.
