Bix
The Lawler promo that was supposed to set up the Luger feud:
KrisZ
Lawler coming to WCW in that timeframe would've been awesome as the Dangerous Alliance was going to be formed and Lawler/Sting being the top faces would've been phenomenal. That promo is awesome as well.
Loss
Interesting that he called them the NWA nearly a year after they had completely stopped using that name. Also, Jerry Lawler is the best babyface promo of all time. In the running for heels too, but definitely the best babyface. Lawler vs Luger ... I'm not sure how they would have gelled, especially with Luger deteriorating at this point due to carrying way too much muscle mass, but Lawler/Rude would have been great. I would have also enjoyed Lawler/Zbyszko for all the fun they'd have coming up with excuses not to lock up, and Lawler/Arn seems like it would also be a good dynamic. Loss
This is perhaps the most over-the-top WWF theme of all time. rovert
I dont to turn this into a PWI thread but this quote is interesting from Sherer if true: And to those who say that this is the best wrestling board you have ever seen, that has always been my goal. On one of my competitor's board, someone referred to me as a pedophile. When I told the owner about it and asked how he could let that happen when it reflected on him, he told me he doesn't care what the users write as long as they pay him. I have NEVER felt that way and would rather lose sub money, as I have with people like Big Danny and Ed Shireffs, than let them act like tools here. Has to be Bryan, right? kjh
To be fair and it pains me to say it, but Scherer does have a point about the board reflecting badly on Bryan and Dave at times. Speaking of the Observer message board, Dave Meltzer and Todd Martin arguing over the match ordering of Friday's Strikeforce Challengers show (should Sarah Kaufman's women's welterweight title match have finished the show instead of the Del Rosario squash?) was amusing. Loss
The board definitely reflects badly on them at times. I just think it's ridiculous that Dave Scherer treats PWInsider like it's a business. If he does that full time, I have no idea what he does all day. He definitely rarely breaks a story. I still think they should have stuck with it, but they killed it after a few weeks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P75FwpvRDUw I remember loving this theme when it first debuted and was upset that, as you mentioned, within (I think) only two weeks they edited the spoken words out of the majority of the song. It was an awesome theme and fit Christian really well at the time - I believe this is directly after Christian turned on Edge for the first time sometime after Edge won the King of the Ring tournament? Yep say September 2001 or there abouts. Why do you guys think their break up feud never clicked?
Loss
Surprisingly they didn't work well together in the ring. I wouldn't say they were actively bad but the buildup necessitated a better series than they had. Also, it was pushed as a midcard feud when they were a pretty heavily pushed tag team that worked with and beat top guys at times. I'm not saying it needed to be a main event feud but it deserved more than to be just another angle on the show.

Yeah they took a backseat to the Invasion over the summer and tapped on to it needlessly pre-Survivor Series. As well as what you said personally I thought they teased the turn for too long well neither at that time could carry off a grudge based singles feud from a in ring or character stand point. Loss
It took both a long time to click as singles wrestlers and I still think they peaked as a tag team. And yes, at the time I remember the writers taking the blame for Edge being unable to do a serious promo, with the feeling they did too much comedy as a tag team and never learned. Scherer complaining that someone called him a pedo? Of all the ironic, two faced and unintentionally funny things he's ever said, that one shoots to #1. Whenever I start to wonder if it's time to put away thinking that Scherer is an evil, vile human being with a special place in hell reserved for him, something like this pops up to remind me that yes, he still is that scumbucket that I remember. rovert
After a great long post but too long to post here from a poster who was there from day one touching on stuff like: - it is a discussion forum so divergent opinions should be encouraged - PWInsider writers say negative things about promotions why can’t we? - The anti-TNA posts may have been hyperbolic in places but they had more intelligent points than those pro-TNA posts consisting mainly one liners of "TNA was awesome this week" etc - asking Dave to stop saying the board is negative and being critical of it on his radio shows as the negativity label has become a self fulfilling prophecy - asking Dave to stop simply framing anti-TNA posts or the board overall as negative and actually address people's posts - likewise the lurkers who PM Dave complaining the board is too negative ending with: Now it feels like its a bad thing to be a forum member. Not because of the negativity but because we're constantly told how bad this place. The place has been threatened to be closed down three times this past year. The place and its members have been ridiculed on audio shows, (something that is apparently ok to do on audio shows, but there's rules against such things on the forum) Dave's response: Great, it's now said. You guys win. I tap out. We don't need me here anyway. Time to close the thread. Update: I think he is deleting it as the link for the forum has been removed from PWI's front page. Loving this shit. Update 2: Scherer's meltdown final post: I tried to convey my concerns as the owner of the site, which I feel refects directly on me, earlier and largely was told what the vocal majority here feels. I simply can't keep wasting time and dealing with BS, which some here think is me taking it all too seriously. It's also not fair to force people that aren't breaking rules to change who they are, (and it makes no sense to piss off prominent subbers, one of whom canceled in the last few days, sorry Mike). So, to save my own sanity (which I think I tried to do a good job of explaining to the people here but apparently failed), I spoke with the staff and we agreed the best way to alleviate problems was to just pull the link to the board from the main page. I wanted to be done here since honestly I don't think a lot of people care what I have to say, so I asked Mike to post this. He is working at Chikara so he didn't get to do it yet. I will do it for him. Dave Scherer told me today that he has tapped out for good on the board but he wanted to pass this along. He said that he feels an obligation to all of the subscribers, which is why he tried to explain how people on the other side felt in the thread over the weekend. But, he also realizes that no one here is breaking the rules so he has decided to give everyone what they want and that is to make the board a place that people choose to come to. So, we have pulled the link to the board off of the main page of the site. Those of you who want to come here know how. Those that come now choose to so they can't complain what they get when they come here. Dave felt that is the best way to be fair to everyone and wanted me to tell you all that if you want to interact with him you can do so via the Mailbag, email or his Facebook page. So now, those of you that love this place have it, as long as you abide by the rules that are in place. If you don't, you know what happens. Those that get offended by it have to choose to come here and can no longer complain to me about it. It's a true win-win. It will not be shut down or deleted. Everyone wins. So unless someone drags me back in, which I doubt, that's all from me. Enjoy your board and thanks for your support. As someone who trolled Bryan Alverez up the wall numerous times let me tell you this was over virtually NOTHING.
kjh
Hmm, I suppose pulling the link to the board off the main site will make it more difficult for people within TNA to accidentally stumble on fans completely shitting on their product, which clearly reflects badly on Dave Scherer.
