Jingus
Not like this is even close to the first time someone's drawn something weird like that involving wrestlers. Anyone else see the bizarre drawings a couple years back of a few WWE guys depicted as anime chicks? Also, sometime back around 2000 or thereabouts, I accidentally ran across a piece of slash porn involving Kurt Angle and Undertaker. The most hilarious part was that it was clearly written by a smart mark, since when Taker starts acting manly beyond my wildest expectations Kurt is all like "What the hell, Mark? You're married!" And Kurt took him down greco-roman stylez and then... it got disturbing.
Guest DietSoda
Has the WWF ever had a wrestler that drew as much money as a heel and as a babyface at the same time as Cena?
anarchistxx
Cena is a flat out babyface. There's nothing remotely heelish about him.
JHawk
Cena is a flat out babyface. There's nothing remotely heelish about him.Except the boos of the crowd and the illegal closed fists. Why is it nobody ever complains when the babyfaces break the rules first? anarchistxx
Except the boos of the crowd People hate him, he's still booked as a face. He's not drawing as a 'heel' and a 'face', since there's never been any suggestion he's a bad guy. On the contrary, he's the whitest babyface in years. Â the illegal closed fists. You are kidding? Since when are closed fists illegal in this day and age? WWE hasn't enforced this rule since forever.
Guest Some Guy
I think what he was getting at is tha Cena draws people (kids and girls) who want to see him win and others (teenage boys and men) who want to see him lose. I can't remember 1 guy who has had that dymanic. Where he has the crowd split and virtually of of those people enjoy either booing or cheering him. Unlike The Rock who was just booed when he was Rocky Maivia or Steve Austin who was cheered despite being a heel in late 96/early 97. Cena has the crowd split. He is pushed as a total face yet because of that is a heel to a large portion of the crowd.
JHawk
I never said Cena was booked as a heel, merely booed like one. Â And closed fists are technically illegal regardless of whether WWE enforces the rule or not. Tennis balls and super soakers are illegal too and that cheating bastard Hornswoggle still used them against Matt Striker on SmackDown without so much as a slap on the wrist. Â To paraphrase Jesse Ventura, "So it's OK to cheat when the fan favorites do it?"
anarchistxx
I think what he was getting at is tha Cena draws people (kids and girls) who want to see him win and others (teenage boys and men) To be honest, the two casual fans I know hate to watch Cena. They don't tune in to watch him lose...they don't actually want to see him at all. Â Cena has the crowd split True, but he's only drawing as a face. I'd bet the majority of people who boo him didn't buy their tickets to see him lose. Obviously, there's no way of proving something like that either way, but just my opinion. Â And closed fists are technically illegal regardless of whether WWE enforces the rule or not. And Hogan used them, Bret used them, Taker used them, all since 1985...there's no way anyone sees that as heelish anymore, or in the last twenty years for that matter. MikeCampbell
The closed fist rule was last enforced in late 2003/early 2004. Flair was the guest ref for a tag match with the Dudleys against a couple jobbers and Flair disqualified Bubba for a closed fist.
Tim Evans
I wonder how tonight's "Hillary, Obama, Mccain on Raw" thing is going to go tonight. According to Meltzer, it's just a taped thing. Over/Under on how many pages the Mushnick's(Irv and Phil) are going to write on this? I expect 10.

Hillary will come across poorly as she always does when she has to try to be funny. McCain probably will ask where Lou Thesz is. Both Mushnicks will be all over this. Loss
So I know it's hardly anything all that revealing that WWE is biased toward Republicans, but they sure were overly blatant about it on RAW. John McCain got about 30 extra seconds of air time compared to the two Dems, had more wrestling-oriented catchphrases in his scripted promo, and was not made fun of in a mock match later in the night. Umaga being put in the position of destroying both Democratic hopefuls just made it even more deliberate. Â I'm really curious to read the details of how all of this was put together when the new WON comes.
Tim Evans
I thought I read somewhere that Gray Davis asked the campaigns if they would do it, and they said yes. Of course the democrats are desperate for votes so they said yes.
Loss
I mean the details as far as who scripted the interviews (was it WWE or the speechwriters for the candidates?) and also curious if Clinton and Obama knew in advance about the skit. Bix
God help me, but in watching a little bit of TNA last night, I found the whole "Super Eric protects his secret identity and sacrifices the tag titles" angle kind of awesome.
Jingus
While he's consistently been stuck in dumbshit angles and gimmicks, I've never had a problem with Eric himself. I worked a few indy shows with him, including one where he'd had emergency throat surgery on Tuesday but still showed up to work a nothing show in a glorified crackhouse on Saturday. He didn't exactly work hard in the match, but still, dude.
Jingus
Didn't really know where else to put this, but: have the DVD boards been down all day for everyone else? Every time I try to access it, it gives me this message: IPS Driver Error There appears to be an error with the database. You can try to refresh the page by clicking here This isn't the first time it's done this recently, there have been at least one or two other occasions over the past few weeks where it's done the same thing. Jingus
Some of it, yeah. I'm not a fan of word filters, or closing threads, or moderators fucking around with the members in general. But there's enough worthwhile there that I still go there, even if I might occasionally bitch about it afterwards. (I gotta remember, never go in the Current Events folder.)
