The end comes when Dillon passes his shoe to Flair during a pier-sixer with all 8 men in the ring. Flair goes to hit Animal (the legal man for his team) but the big man ducks and the shoe hits Ole (the legal Horsemen). McDaniel knocks Flair out of the ring (still holding the shoe) allowing Animal to plant Ole with a powerslam for the win. Horsemen attempt an ambush after the bell but after several minutes the faces clear the ring. As the Horsemen depart, Ellering grabs the house mic and on behalf of his clients challenges the Horsemen to a Tag Title match at Christmas Chaos! Some fans reported that as the Horsemen were leaving, Ole seemed to be glaring at Flair behind his back.
spaldoni
"The Natural" Mark Fleming. Love that moniker. Tomko and Brown come to town as True Grit. Very fitting. I'm liking the Savage/Nikita feud. This is how I would imagine it would be. Speaking of feuds. Outlaws and Hangmen could be a good one. The shoe backfires as the faces beat the Horsemen to end the night. I'm sensing some friction here. I've said this before, but I like the twist you're putting on the Horsemen. 1987 could be a very interesting year in the NWA.
kevinmcfl
Awesome main event! I could just picture those cool posters hyping up this match all around Ashville and the Smoky Mountains! I wonder if the Horseman can remain a tight unit if they lose a few more of these.

kevinmcfl
Great card coming up at Christmas. All the matches so far are main-event worthy! Wonder how Nature Boy is taking not being on the big show. Enjoying what you are doing with Matt Borne. He is very underrated in real life if you ask me. He was asked to do some pretty bad gimmicks and did them all well.
spaldoni
Christmas Chaos is going to end 1986 with a bang. It's so cool that Whatley and Conway are still thriving in this game. Been enjoying the Gaylord push. His spere has certainly gotten over. Damn! Borne sends a serious message. He's defiantly living up to his maniac name. I thought Bob Caudle really put this over well. Road Warriors tear it up! Andersons might be in big trouble. Harley gives another straightforward promo. Tully better be on his A game. Benoit advances to the 4 corners match. Only one more spot to fill. Christmas Chaos is stacked!
Blehschmidt
Christmas Chaos is looking stacked! Glad to see Borne getting a push. Liking that you are playing him up as a dangerous dude. Gaylord wasn't the best talent, but with that look, he is a perfect push for the time period. The 4 way is gonna be fun with the talents involved Old Man Harley looking for one last chance in the spotlight can be a great storyline if done right. Looking forward to it. GeneJackson95
Christmas Chaos is going to be huge! When you can land George Strait on Christmas, you must be a big deal! The Andersons vs. The Road Warriors is tough one to call Harley vs. Tully is going to make or break Blanchard here...can't wait! I really think Savage vs. Nikita may steal the show, I could really see Savage going all out to make this match stand out with Koloff looking like a monster and Macho come after him with reckless abandon! kevinmcfl
You continue to produce very realistic house shows for the time. I love all the main events but I think my favorite card was in the Richmond Coliseum. The depth and star power of that event was awesome. Nature Boy vs Ivan was interesting as I am sure that Flair got some love for a change.

spaldoni
Wright vs. Fleming going to a draw must've been a technical masterpiece. Nikita has a firm grip on the US title. Just ask Wahoo. Midnight Rockers pull off solo wins. Borne is getting a monster push and might win some gold soon. Flair gets in a nice win over Uncle Ivan. We close on a shot of NWA World Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard before cutting to Caudle & Schiavone in the booth) BC:Wrestling fans welcome to a special Christmas Eve addition of NWA Power Hour, professional wrestling's most exciting hour. I'm Bob Caudle alongside Tony Schiavone and Tony, we're just 24 hours away from the event that the entire wrestling world's been talking about, Christmas Chaos. TS:It certainly has Bob and for good reason. Every title will be contested tomorrow night in the Greensboro Coluseam and we'll be hearing from several of the competitors in those matches throughout this broadcast. Also in the main event "Dangerous" Dan Spivey will meet the Assassin to determine the final participant in the Four Corners Elimination Match at Christmas Chaos to determine the new NWA World Television Champion. Bob what a 24 hours to close out 1986 for the NWA. BC:What a 24 hours indeed Tony especially since we've got the debuts of some of the talent looking to make waves in 1987. Please welcome "Macho Man" Randy Savage with the lovely Ms Elizabeth! (HUGE POP) Randy in just 24 hours you have to step into the ring with "The Russian Nightmare" himself. A man who's held the NWA United States Championship in what many experts have described as a "death grip". What are your thoughts heading into such a highly anticipated bout? RS:Tony Schiavone you wanna know what's going through the Macho Man's mind before this big match? Well that's a easy one cause it's the same thing that goes through my mind before any of my matches, How long am I gonna have to beat this man's ass before he takes the hit and stays down? Now the Macho Man is under mo illusion what awaits in the Greensboro Coluseam. It doesn't matter what you or i think about Nikita Koloff as a person the fact of the matter is he is one of the most awesome athletes in professional wrestling today. You do NOT become a 2 time NWA World Heavyweight Champion & the current NWA United States Champion by accident. But Nikita you cannot afford to be under any illusions either. There is no Red Army training exercise that can prepare you to march into the heart of the Danger Zone. Their is no KGB psych-ops that can prepare you to stare into the eyes of madness! And there is no opponent you can face to prepare for the Macho Man BECAUSE THERE IS NO ONE ELSE LIKE THE MACHO MAN! So Tomorrow night in the Christmas Chaos you better bring every trick your masters in the Kremlin taught you because i am not leaving Greensboro without the NWA United States Championship! (Savage power walks to the ring as the crowd erupts in cheers) Match #4 "Macho Man" Randy Savage w/Ms Elizabeth defeats Flame by dq when Nikita Koloff stormed the ring and shoved Savage off the top rope as he was set to deliver the "Savage Elbow". The Andersons are going to "prove once again why they're the greatest team on God's green when they slap the paint off those Lord Humongous fanboys" and Tully Blanchard is going to cement his legacy as "the greatest NWA World Heavyweight Champion of all time when he does what Mother Nature should have done a long time ago & retire Harley Race!" The Posse (Dick Slater,Bobby Jagers & Dirty Rhodes) vs Paul Jones' Army (Ron Bass,Black Bart & Matt Borne) w/"Number One" Paul Jones A all-out brawl from the opening bell. Patrick struggles to maintain order with repeated instances of all six men in the ring fighting. This chaos ultimately works against The Posse as during one of these pier-sixers Jones slips Ms Betsy to Bass who promptly wraps the bullwhip around his fist & drives it into Jagers' head for the tainted victory. The brawl continues after the bell which is eventually broken up by security but not before Matt Borne delivers a Piledriver to Slater on the ring apron! Winners:The Paul Jones' Army DTM:Ladies and gentlemen, this next match is to unify the NWA United States Tag Team Titles with the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Titles. Introducing first in the corner to my left, From Amarillo Texas at a combined wrestling weight of 484 lb, they are the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team champions, Chris & Mark Youngblood The Renegade Warriors!.. and their opponents, accompanied by their manager JR Foley...from Sydney Australia at a combined wrestling weight of 218 kg George Barnes & Jonathan Boyd...The Commonwealth! Dan Spivey is counted out after Kabuki returns to ringside and sprays him with the "Asian mist" while he was on the floor. Steve Wright eliminates Chris Benoit by countering a dragon suplex by dropping down, reaching up with his legs and pulling Benoit into something resembling a victory roll. Foley shakes his head in disappointment and leaves without Benoit. Winner and new NWA World Television Champion: Steve Wright DTM:Ladies and gentlemen this match is set for one fall, 45 minute time limit for the World Tag Team Championships. Introducing first, in the corner to my left the challengers. Accompanied by their manager "Precious" Paul Ellering, from Chicago Illinois at a combined wrestling weight of 575 lbs...Hawk & Animal... The legion of Doom...The Road Warriors! And their opponents, accompanied by their manager, trainer & advisor James J Dillon...from the dreaded Four Horsemen...from the state of Minnesota at a combined wrestling weight of 511 lbs...The NWA World Tag Team Title holders Arn & Ole Anderson, The Minnesota Wrecking Crew! Referee Nick Patrick. As much of a contrast in styles as you can get in tag team wrestling. The Andersons methodical use scientific matt wrestling collides violently with the Road Warriors use of raw power and uncanny athleteticism for men their size. Every time the Andersons lead either Hawk or Animal into a trap it's escaped through sheer brute force. However that same cunning allows the champions to cut off the challengers flurries insuring they can never gain TOO much momentum. Add in that Ellering makes a point to shadow Dillon on the floor and the result is an even back-and-forth match that keeps the capacity crowd either on the edge of their seats or on their feet for over 20 minutes. Finally the Road Warriors manage to get Arn in position for the "Doomsday Device" but this gets Ellering's attention and he's caught off guard as Dillon bumrushes him driving him into the ringpost. Unaware of what just happened Animal dives into the cover...one...two...thr...DILLON DIVES ON ANIMAL BREAKING UP THE COUNT! Patrick has no choice but to call for a disqualification! When it's announced that the Road Warriors have won the match but NOT the titles the crowd is furious! The Road Warriors turn to Dillon with a glare that has the manager scurrying for his life but the Warriors grab him before he can escape! Hawk scales the ropes again as Animal hoists Dillon on his shoulders. The crowd is going crazy as Dillon is begging for his life. "Doomsday Device" on JJ Dillon! The Warriors may not have won the titles but recieve a heroes send-off as they collect help Ellering to the back. Winners:The Road Warriors, Still champions: The Minnesota Wrecking Crew. DTM:Ladies and gentlemen, this match is for the NWA United States Championship. One fall with a 45 minute time limit. Introducing first in the corner to my left the challenger. Accompanied by his personal valet Ms Elizabeth...from Sarasota, Florida weighing 240 lbs..."Macho Man" Randy Savage! And his opponent the NWA United States Title holder... from the USSR weighing 121 kg..."The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff! Referee Theodore Long. Two of the most intense men in the sport collide and it's every bit the explosion you thought it'd be. Savage really goes all out to make sure HIS match is the won everyone is talking about tomorrow, alternating between attacking with the ferocity of a starving wolverine and selling everything Koloff does like death. The end product is a emotional match that has the fans in awe as both men absorb the others best shots and keep coming back for more. A recurring theme is Savage finding different ways to avoid the "Russian Sickle". One such instance leads to the finish as, after nearly 30 minutes of grueling action, Savage just misses getting his head taken off by allowing himself to collapse to his knees in exhaustion. Unfortunately for referee Long he was standing behind Savage and as such takes the full impact of the charging champion. Sensing an opportunity, Soldat Ustinov sprints to the ring and lines Savage up for a shot with the Soviet flag. Luckily Savage sees him coming and has the presence of mind to duck under the swing. Nikita however is trying to wake the ref and so when Savage dodges the flag catches Koloff in the back of the head! Ustinov is horrified at his mistake and goes to check on Nikita giving Savage the chance to clothesline him over the top rope. Savage moves as quickly as he can and snaps Koloff into a piledriver. Then after waking the ref, scales the ropes with the last bits of his energy and crashes down with the "Savage Elbow" for the 1...2...3!!! Dr Miller has to shout into the mic to be heard over the roar of the crowd as he announces the NEW NWA UNITED STATES CHAMPION! As Savage & Elizabeth are celebrating up the aisle Ivan Koloff makes his way down to the ring where Ustinov is trying to check on Nikita. After entering the ring Ivan turns Ustinov around and immediately starts chewing him out. Ustinov desperately tries to explain to a clear unsympathetic Ivan while Nikita pulls himself up in the corner. Suddenly the conversation is interrupted by Nikita bursting from the corner and nearly decapitating Ustinov with a "Russian Sickle"! A seething Nikita turns to his "uncle" to gage his reaction and seems pleased when Ivan's response is to pick Ustinov up and hold him in place so Nikita can deliver another! Security is in the ring trying to get to Ustinov but a glare from Nikita holds them at bay. With Ivan's help he scrapes their now former comrade off the mat before sending him into the ropes for a double "Russian Sickle"! With that the Koloffs finally leave allowing security to remove Ustinov. Winner and NEW NWA United States Champion:"Macho Man" Randy Savage! DTM:Ladies and gentlemen this is your Christmas Chaos main event. It is a one fall match with a 60 minute time limit to unify the NWA World Heavyweight Championship with the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. Introducing first in the corner to my left the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title holder...from Kansas City, Missouri 253 lbs "Handsome" Harley Race! And his opponent part of the dreaded Four Horsemen...from San Antonio, Texas weighing 222 lbs...the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard! Referee Tommy Young. What happens next is over 30 minutes of technical excellence. Nothing too fancy just two of the best doing what they do best. The crowd is firmly behind Race and you can almost FEEL Greensboro trying to will him to his 8th title win. Finally he seems poised to achieve just that as he has Blanchard down in the corner in position for his patented diving headbutt. However just before he can come off the ropes The Andersons are seen coming down the aisle. Thankfully security is point and intercepts them before they can make it to the ring. They make enough of a scene that Race momentarily hesitates before diving which is all Tully needs to move out of the way. Giving his opponent no time to recover, he grabs Race and hits a quick slingshot suplex for the victory. The show ends on a scene of Blanchard being hoisted onto the Andersons shoulders with Dillon and Flair coming down to join in. Winner and STILL NWA World Heavyweight Champion:Tully Blanchard! spaldoni
"The King of Country" gets things going. The NWA defiantly knows how to book National Anthem singers. Flair wins the battle royal. Hmmmm, I wonder what title he's going for? Very interesting. Jones comes through on his promise as his army ends things with the Posse. Borne gets in his heat by piledriving Slater on the apron. Renegade Warriors unifies the tag titles with a crowd pleasing win over Foley's Commonwealth. Exciting 4 corners match with Wright coming out on top. I think Wright's an outstanding choice as TV champ. Looks like Foley's done with Benoit and we've got a hot feud going between Spivey and Kabuki. LOL, the Andersons manage to walk out with the titles. However, Dillion was lucky to leave alive after suffering the Doomsday Device! OOOOHHHH YEA! Macho Man wins the US title! What a moment! I can totally visualize that crowd's reaction. Post match sees Nikita and Ivan take care of Soldat. Talk about getting your heat back. Race almost wins his 8th world title but a second of hesitation is all Tully needs. Tully is now the undisputed NWA World Champ. I can only wonder what Flair was thinking. This was a great card with some tremendous blow offs. I love the direction the NWA is heading. Keep up the outstanding work!
Blehschmidt
Flair wins an opportunity that makes me think some dissension in the Horseman may be coming in the future! Bass, Bart, and Borne is an awesome trio! Glad I sent you The Youngbloods! They are doing awesome in the NWA! I was rooting for Kabuki, but the Wright push is going well. Kabuki vs Spivey could be fun! Andersons/Road Warriors is not over! Savage/Nikita was great! for everyone but Ustinov!! I was hoping for Harley to do it, but Tully picks up the win and 1987 is going to be very interesting for the Horseman!!
kevinmcfl
Christmas Chaos was really well done. I enjoyed all of the great pictures. I think Flair was a great choice for the Battle Royal Win! Now we get to wonder about the unity of the Horsemen for as long as you want. Great booking which gives us an angle to enjoy for as long as you want. I think it was a good idea to unify some of the titles. While the NWA roster size and territory size could allow for 3 tag titles, 2 makes more sense to me. It makes the belts worth more even though you do loose all of those title matches on your house show loop. Good booking to have the DQ win for the Road Warriors as now we get to see that classic again. Good main event. I like how you kept the belt off of Race. He is awesome but might not be the top dog as we head into 87. Thanks for an awesome show!
GeneJackson95
Wow! Christmas Chaos lived up to it's name! What a show! I agree with the others, Flair winning the battle royal is perfect as there can be tension and a story within the Horsemen for as long as you want to draw it out. As predicted Savage/Nikita was a show stealer and you count Savage as another serious threat to Tully's World title. Tully retains over Harley while beating a champion the stature of Race cements Tully as a "real deal" NWA World Champion! Great work! Scarlet-Left
Amazing wall-to-wall action at Christmas Chaos! Great multi-man fun, with a battle royal followed by an six-man tag! The Road Warriors versus the Minnesota Wrecking Crew! That's just a great match-up! JJ Dillon taking the Doomsday Device is a good way to cheer the crowd up after the Road Warriors were screwed out of the title! Drama in the Russian camp! Randy Savage is going to make an amazing US champ! As much as I'd have loved to see Harley Race take the title, Tully Blanchard winning is good bookend, with Ric Flair winning the opener. The Horsemen are riding high!
Autistic Dragon
1987 Volume 1 TENSION IN THE FOUR HORSEMEN? The Four Horsemen seem to have it all. Tully Blanchard holds the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, The Andersons hold the NWA World Tag Team Titles. They are regarded by all observers as four of the absolute best wrestlers in the world today. The Horsemen should be on cloud nine, and they are. Except one. Ric Flair finds himself in a almost alien position. Not only is he himself without a title (an uncommon sight in & of itself) but he is at this time the only Horsemen without a title. Flair has taken a step toward rectifying this with his victory in the "Merry Christmas" battle royal allowing him to challenge for a title of his choosing whenever he requests. However despite repeated questioning he has refused to disclose which title he intends to challenge for. It could be of course that Mr Flair hasn't decided yet, but it has been pointed out that there's nothing actually stopping Flair for challenging for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship...except the presumed bond between teammates. And given Flair's distant behavior recently, is that enough? MOTHER RUSSIA'S SECRET WEAPON? Easily the biggest change in the NWA coming out of its "Christmas Chaos" event was Randy Savage defeating Nikita Koloff to become the new NWA United States Champion. Many note that a large part of this victory was due to a ineffective attempt at interference from Soldat Ustinov. The Koloffs clearly share this opinion as they brutally assaulted Ustinov after the match. It seems Ustinov's punishment is just beginning however. Witnesses report a nervous Ustinov being hurried into a plane in the dead of night, of hushed talk of being "reconditioned" and of a "new asset" being brought in to aide The Koloffs on their war on America. There a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the Russian contingent at the moment and we will endeavor to keep an eye on this developing situation. PAUL JONES DECLARES TOTAL WAR! "Christmas Chaos" proved a mixed night for the men in Paul Jones' employ. While the trio of Ron Bass,Black Bart & Matt Borne were victorious over the team of Dick Slater, Bobby Jagers & Dirty Rhodes (with a post match piledriver from Borne to Slater on the ring apron leaving Slater's future in the business in doubt) The Great Kabuki failed to obtain the NWA World Television Championship, being eliminated by Dan Spivey (though he ensured Spivey's elimination in retaliation). While some men might be satisfied with betting 500 it seems Mr Jones has higher standards. He has issued a "declaration of war" against any & all who would stand in the way of his Army and Championship gold. Reports say that Kabuki in particular has been assigned to drive Dan Spivey out of the NWA entirely to "make a example of what happens to those who stand in the Army's way". Considering the talent at Mr Jones' disposal this declaration should be taken with utmost seriousness. COMINGS & GOINGS AROUND THE NWA. Gone are... Chris Benoit...it seems that JR Foley was most displeased by his protégé failing to capture the NWA World Television Championship. It has already been reported that Mr Benoit will be arriving in the UWF under the tutelage of Eddie Gilbert & it can be confirmed this is the result of Foley selling Benoit's contract. Dick Slater...Due to the piledriver from Matt Borne discussed earlier in the article. Mr Slater suffered "severe damage" to his neck as well as a concussion. Due to it being uncertain if Mr Slater can ever return to the ring he & NWA management have mutually agreed to terminate his contract so Mr Slater can focus entirely on his recovery. In a statement released with this announcement the NWA thanked Mr Slater for his time & energy and wished him a full recovery. The Warlord...Though the muscular rookie shows great promise he has noticeably struggled to find his footing in the aftermath of the disbanding of the "Spectral Hand" and has decided to seek better luck elsewhere. Arriving are... Stan "The Lariat" Hansen...One of the hardest hitting men in the sport today, Hansen has most recently been terrorizing Pacific Coast Wrestling as part of the "Crazy Gang". When approached for comment on his intentions in the NWA, Mr Hansen was succinct, "I don't have ta explanation myself ta nobody" "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan...Speaking of men who hit hard, few hit harder than the former Atlanta Falcon. A of the most popular men in the sport due to his high-impact style & his boisterous patriotism Duggan is sure to endear himself to fans across the NWA territory. Jimmy Del-Ray...Another wrestler making his way from PCW (& coincidentally another member of the "Crazy Gang") where he is a former Pacific Tag Team Champion. Del-Ray has proven to be a devious competitor unafraid to bend if not outright break the rules to get ahead. Fans can expect to find Del-Ray a talented -if detestable- part of the NWA roster. The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs & Jerry Saggs) Completing the Western invasion is Brian Knobbs who achieved great success as part of the "Dog Pound" along with Rick Steiner, with the two managing to obtain a degree of popularity despite their general status as rulebreakers. Determined to stay in the tag ranks but not deeming anyone on the NWA roster as suitable, Knobbs has decided to bring in a childhood friend from the streets of New York city, Jerry Saggs. Dubbed themselves "The Nasty Boys" it seems Knobbs is no more interested in playing by the rules then he was back west. Whether or not his new team can still parlay this into garnering a dedicated fanbase ala the Dog Pound remains to be seen. ONE FINAL RUMOR. While the NWA reduced the number of active titles by two courtesy of a pair of "title unification bouts" rumors are rampant that the first episode of NWA Power Hour of 1987 will feature a announcement from NWA president Jim Crockett Jr concerning the creation of a new title...or perhaps even the return of an old one. Watch this space.
