LowBlowPodcast Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 WCW Power Hour Sid Vicious (w/ Harley Race) destroys a local competitor in brutal fashion, barely breaking a sweat. The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) wins decisively, the crowd visibly unsettled by his presence. The Orient Express (w/ Mr. Fuji) continue to look sharp and dangerous with another clean victory. Pretty Wonderful pick up a quick win, staying aggressive and unapologetic. Flyin’ Brian closes the show with a strong win, moving freely and confidently — no signs of injury as he heads into his biggest week yet. World Championship Wrestling Ross and Heenan run down Clash of the Champions XIV in full hype mode: U.S. Title Final tonight Doom defend the World Tag Titles tomorrow $10,000 Battle Royal Sid Vicious challenges Sting for the World Championship Ricky Steamboat vs. Flyin’ Brian Winner advances to the U.S. Title Final This is exactly what it should be — a 25-minute war between two men operating at their absolute peak. Brian wrestles with speed and urgency, pushing Steamboat from bell to bell. Steamboat answers with patience, counters, and timing. Neither man gives an inch. The Dangerous Alliance makes their presence felt at ringside — Hennig watching intently, Rude and Hall laughing it up — but never interfering. In the final moments, Brian launches with a high crossbody. Steamboat rolls through, stacks him up, and gets the pin. After the bell, Brian favors his shoulder — not catastrophic, but clearly hurt. That’s when the Dangerous Alliance strike. Rude and Hall dump Brian into the ring post. Hennig steps in, directing traffic. The numbers are overwhelming until Nikita Koloff storms the ring, clearing house and backing the Alliance off. Steamboat stands tall — but Brian is clearly compromised heading into tomorrow. WCW Main Event: Clash of the Champions Pre-Show Demolition (Ax & Smash, w/ Crush) def. The Orient Express (w/ Mr. Fuji) A solid, no-nonsense match that keeps Demolition strong. The Express show resilience in defeat, forcing Ax and Smash to work for everything. The Mountie (w/ The Mountie Patrol) def. Kendall Windham The Mountie controls the match from start to finish, finishing Windham with a flying elbow and locking in the Quebec Crab for the submission. A video package recaps the U.S. Title Tournament, setting the stage for Steamboat vs. Hennig II, now with championship gold on the line. Pretty Wonderful def. Bob and Scott Armstrong After the bell, Orndorff and Roma attack Bullet Bob Armstrong, delivering a spike piledriver on the stage. Officials rush out as Bob is left motionless. This is how Main Event goes off the air. Clash of the Champion XIV - February 1st, 1991 The Clash opens with Tony Schiavone checking on Bullet Bob. He’s being carted out… We see Smothers and Armstrong come out… They've got a US tag title match coming up. The Freebirds w/ DDP vs Young Pistols US Tag Titles We get more on the walk out of Bob as Steve Armstrong has tried to keep up… but Smothers comes in and he tries to do everything he can to take on the Freebirds. This turns into a 2 on 1 though… Jimmy Jam and PS are a well oiled machine… all be it a little rusty. DDP is out there pushing the envelope… getting involved when he can. We see Steve come back out… the crowd erupts… but it is window dressing. In the end… Smothers make the hot tag to Armstrong who comes in like a house of fire. He is all over the place. We get a messy finish when Steve rears back and nails the referee with an elbow! He then hits a slick move… he runs up to with a kick into Hayes chest and then a follow up kick to the back of the head. What a move! 1….2….3……4… the fans count but the next referee comes down and waves his hands. It is a DQ finish… The Birds are the winners….via DQ. No title change… more to come. Savio Vega vs. The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) Savio comes out fired up, aggressive, trying to take the fight to the Undertaker early. It doesn’t last. Taker absorbs everything without expression, then takes control with heavy shots and methodical offense. The crowd is quiet in that uneasy way — not bored, not loud — just watching something they don’t fully understand. Undertaker walks the ropes. Chokeslam. Tombstone. That’s it. Winner: The Undertaker Paul Bearer stands over Savio’s body, clutching the urn, as if the match never mattered in the first place. We get an introduction… unlike any other… The AMERICAN DREAM DUSTY RHODES is back in World Championship Wrestling! He brings out his son Dustin who comes out and he’s joined by Nikita and Flyin Brian (arm is in a sling). Pillman says his shoulder was injured last night against Ricky Steamboat… and he won’t be able to compete tonight… but he’s got some great backup with him… Dusty Rhodes pops on and says he brought the boots… he’s got his trunks… and now it is time to kick some booty! Nikita Koloff & Dusty Rhodes (w/ Dustin Rhodes) vs. Rick Rude & Scott Hall (w/ Paul E. Dangerously) This is where the night takes a turn. Tony Schiavone brings us back to ringside, explaining again that Flyin’ Brian cannot compete — when suddenly, the music hits. Dusty Rhodes is back. The building erupts. Dusty comes out in boots and denim, soaking it in, then calls for Dustin to join him. The moment lands. No rush. No shortcuts. Dusty makes it clear: WCW needs someone tonight, and he’s here to stand with his son and with Nikita Koloff. The match itself is exactly what it should be. Dusty is slower, but still smart. Nikita does the heavy lifting. Rude and Hall work like predators, isolating, cutting the ring in half, letting Paul E pull strings from the outside. The finish is brilliant in its simplicity. Dusty goes for a suplex on Hall. Paul E grabs his leg. Hall falls forward — Warrior/Rude at WrestleMania V — and covers. Winners: Rick Rude & Scott Hall The heat is nuclear. Dustin attacks Dangerously immediately. Nikita and Rude are throwing bombs. Officials pour in. This isn’t about wins and losses — this is about war. Another fun angle to set up the next contest... Doom comes out... Teddy Long has got the titles.... but then Marty comes out... he then goes back and brings out his partner... OH MY! WCW World Tag Team Championship Doom (c) (w/ Teddy Long) vs. Marty Jannetty & El Gigante Jannetty fights like a man with something to prove. He throws everything he has at Doom — speed, desperation, heart. El Gigante’s size changes the dynamic, forcing Doom to adjust. But Doom are champions for a reason. Simmons and Reed isolate Jannetty again and again, punishing him, grinding him down. El Gigante gets his moments, but Doom never panic. They absorb. They counter. They dominate when it matters. Eventually, Doom put Jannetty down clean. Winners and Still WCW World Tag Team Champions: Doom Marty gave everything he had. It wasn’t enough. We get a fun video showcasing the US Title tournament... finals incoming! WCW United States Championship Curt Hennig w/ Paul E vs. Ricky Steamboat Steamboat comes in banged up. Hennig comes in cold and precise. This is wrestling at its highest level — measured, disciplined, unforgiving. Steamboat tries to push pace, but Hennig targets him surgically, working the body and slowing him down. Every exchange matters. Every counter draws a reaction. The finish comes down to leverage and positioning — a German suplex, shoulders pressed, weight shifted just enough. All four shoulders down... but after the three count... there is some commotion... then... it is announced... Winner and NEW United States Champion: Curt Hennig Steamboat sits up afterward, exhausted, disappointed, but respected. The crowd lets him know it. $10,000 Battle Royal — Money on a Pole Davey Boy Smith, Owen Hart, Jim Neidhart, DDP, Big Josh, Skinner, Brad Armstrong, Fatu, Samu, Tonga It’s messy. It’s chaotic. It’s fun. Alliances form and collapse instantly. The Samoans and the Harts tear into each other throughout. Big Josh and Skinner are collateral damage. Brad Armstrong gets caught watching the wrong angle and pays for it. DDP sneaks. Climbs. Grabs the bag. But his feet never touch the mat. Davey Boy shakes the ropes. DDP crashes down, crotched, humiliated. The chaos continues as bodies spill over the top rope. In the end, no one leaves clean — just bruised and angry. Davey Boy hoists up the bag... hands out some cash... WCW World Heavyweight Championship Sting (c) vs. Sid Vicious (w/ Harley Race) This is the biggest Clash main event WCW has ever presented — and it feels like it. Sting fights with urgency and fire. Sid looks terrifying — calm, strong, controlled. Harley Race stalks the floor, pulling strings. The match is physical, intense, and deliberate. Sting wears Sid down. Sid absorbs punishment that would fell anyone else. The Samoans attempt to interfere — but the Hart Foundation rushes them, pulling them away. WCW has Sting’s back. The finish is sudden and shocking. Sting goes for the Stinger Splash — leaps too high — and smashes his head on the battle royal pole. He goes limp. Sid catches him. Harley screams. Sid hoists Sting and powerbombs him into the mat. 1… 2… 3. Winner and NEW WCW World Heavyweight Champion: Sid Vicious Harley Race hands Sid the belt. Sid raises it without emotion. Ross is furious. He’s putting over the head injury. Heenan is loving every second of it. The show ends with Sid standing tall — champion at last — as WCW heads into an uncertain, dangerous future.
ErictheDragon Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I would've loved seeing 25 mins of Sreamboat/Pillman on free TV. Pretty Wonderful provide a frightening transition from Main Event to the Clash. Steve is clearly upset and it costs in in the US tag title match. R.I.P Vega. Pillman's injury leaves a vacancy that the Dream readily fills. Marty's Giant surprise wasn't enough to take down Doom. Hennig wins the US title in a somewhat questionable call by the ref. I'm a little confused by the battle royal. Did DDP grabbing the cash count? Or did Davey Boy stopping him from reaching the floor allow someone else to get it? Great finish to the world title match. There can be no doubt who rules the world.

KingBoggs33 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I always enjoy your shows. This is no exception, a solid card with results that all made sense. I loved the main event. I enjoyed the gimmick from earlier, costing Sting the match by hitting the pole, then Sid spelling the end with the Powerbomb and taking the title. A short title reign for Sting, but Sid being the champ is the right move, though, and I'm excited to see what happens next in WCW.

ErictheDragon Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Major hype created for WrestleWar at the announcement of War Games pitting Sting's Squadron vs Sid's Psychos. More Hennig v Steamboat? Yes please. Rude & Koloff are gonna tear each other apart. Better reinforce the whole building for when Doom takes on Demolition.
spaldoni Posted February 7 Posted February 7 The Clash was solid all the way through I knew it would be a wild night when the beginning is Bullet Bob being stretchered out The Freebirds have luck on their side and remain champs. Loving the slow build of the Undertaker I can't imagine the pop Dusty got tonight. Nikita has some powerful allies with the Rhodes family. This could be a wild ride Marty was full of fire but Doom put a stamp on things. Of course Steamboat and Hennig put on a classic. The US title is absolutely perfect for Hennig. No matter what, Steamboat gets his respect The battle royal was a lot of fun especially the finish. Bulldog could get a nice push from this WOW! Wasn't expecting Sid to walk out with the title but this is going to be awesome. Very nice touch with the pole from the battle royal actually costing Sting the match. Sid does rule the world! Nice follow up with new angles and programs set. The War Games will be epic! Poor Marty, if he only knew what Michales has been up too I'd pay good money to watch Doom and Demolition brawl Love the importance put on the US tag titles with several teams wanting a shot
LowBlowPodcast Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 Weekend of February 14th Power Hour Tony reminds everyone WrestleWar is two weeks away. Bobby says Sid doesn’t need two weeks — he needs two minutes. Doom dismantle two local competitors. Simmons hits a spinebuster that nearly folds a man in half. Reed finishes it with the shoulder block. Teddy Long says Demolition better enjoy their last tag title shot. Scott Hall w/ Paul E picks apart an opponent with patience. Razor’s Edge. 1-2-3. Paul E says the Dangerous Alliance doesn’t chase titles — they collect them. Flyin Brian wins fast with Air Pillman. Border Patrol glare from the aisle but don’t engage. Rick Rude wins in dominant fashion. Refuses to break a choke at four. Flexes. Says Nikita will fall just like everyone else. Nikita Koloff crushes a man in under two minutes. Russian sickle nearly takes the head off. Dusty says Rude better bring more than arrogance. The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer squashes someone in eerie silence. No wasted motion. Tombstone. Paul Bearer whispers that the darkness is growing. WCW Top 10 WCW World Champion - Sid Vicious Curt Hennig - US Champion Sting Flyin Brian - TV Champion Ricky Steamboat Rick Rude Davey Boy Smith Nikita Koloff Scott Hall Brad Armstrong The Undertaker Bobby says Brad Armstrong being in the Top 10 is “adorable.” Tony says Brad has earned every bit of it. Main Event Brad Armstrong vs Paul Roma Roma starts arrogant. Armstrong stays calm. Early exchanges are clean — technical, crisp. Roma grows frustrated. Takes shortcuts. Forearm in the throat. Referee warning. Brad fights back with dropkicks and a deep arm drag. Crowd gets behind him. Roma tries to slow it down but Brad counters a suplex into a small package for two. Roma snaps. Low blow behind the referee’s back. Then he shoves the referee outright. DQ. Roma keeps stomping Brad until Steve and Bob Armstrong hit the ring to chase him off. Tony says Roma couldn’t beat him — so he tried to end him. Brad stands tall, but this feud is boiling. World Championship Wrestling JR and Bobby push WrestleWar hard. War Games graphics run. Sid’s name feels heavy every time it’s mentioned. Demolition win decisively. They look strong — but not sharp. Pretty Wonderful defeats a pair of local talents and refuses to comply with referees. Ricky Steamboat answers with another great win. Hall continues his steady rise. The Mountie steals a win with help from Border Patrol. Owen Hart picks up a clean, fast technical victory. Looks confident. The Freebirds dominate a couple of local competitors with brutality. Davey Boy Smith wins via powerslam in emphatic fashion. Sting vs Samu This is physical from the jump. Samu isn’t intimidated. He attacks early, grinding Sting into the ropes and clubbing him across the back. He tries to overwhelm him like at Clash. Sting absorbs it. Sting fires back with right hands. Clothesline. Stinger Splash in one corner — Samu stumbles out and eats another. Samu cuts him off briefly with a headbutt and near fall. The crowd rises. Sting fights out of a Samoan drop attempt and lands a backdrop. He signals for it. Scorpion Deathlock. Samu struggles — but he taps. Sting wins clean. But it doesn’t end there. Fatu hits the ring first. Then Tonga. They swarm Sting. Davey Boy hits the ring. Neidhart follows. Owen is right behind them. It’s chaos — but this time the babyfaces are ready. They clear the ring. For a moment, they stand tall. And then— Sid Vicious appears at the top of the aisle. He walks slowly. Calm. Not rushing. Owen turns his back for half a second. Sid slides in. Clothesline from hell. Owen flips inside out. Sid doesn’t even look at Sting. He just stares down at Owen’s body. Then he steps back out of the ring. No rush. No celebration. Sting kneels beside Owen. Davey is furious. Anvil is shouting. Sid walks up the aisle without looking back. JR says, “Sid just sent a message.” Bobby says, “No, JR… that’s a warning.”
ErictheDragon Posted February 14 Posted February 14 WrestleWar is seriously heating up. Sid proves he could turn the tides in WarGames all by himself. The Dangerous Alliance is really shining lately. They're heading to something big.
spaldoni Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Great build to the Wrestle War I always liked Brad Armstrong. Amazing ring talent. Nice to see him crack the top ten Doom just looks unbeatable. I'm not even sure Demolition can stop them Dusty's a nice addition to Nikita's feud with Rude. I would love to see a verbal face off between Dusty and Paul E The dead man is on the rise Great brawl to finish the weekend. Really sets the tone for War Games.
LastStopTour Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Bobby's comment about Brad cracking the Top 10 being adorable was funny. Nice pair of shows heading into WrestleWar with big statement from Sid (on the smallest guy, no less!). Good push to sell tickets on both shows. Should be a very good one.
kevinmcfl Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Really enjoyed your Clash! Very realistic. You nailed Dusty. He would have had a huge pop but he needed Nikita to do most of the work! Hennig-Steamboat would have been a highlight!!! Great right up with a great finish that keeps everyone strong! Sid over Sting! Looking forward to see where WCW goes from here!

ErictheDragon Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Great weekend for the Alliance, especially with Rude & Hennig pulling double duty on the main show.
kevinmcfl Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Nice job moving the WCW forward as all the big names are getting a push as we have a small lull in thge big shows. Like Steamboat getting right back at Hennig!
spaldoni Posted February 22 Posted February 22 The stars get to shine with solid TV showcases. Liked the descriptions of the finishes. The War Games is stacked!
LowBlowPodcast Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Weekend of February 28th World Championship Wrestling - Only a 30-minute episode today… Turner Brass found out they were running a PPV the same night… the other 90 minutes of the show ended up being highlights from 1990 featuring big matches from Sting, Lex Luger, Rick Rude, Sid Vicious, Curt Hennig, & Doom! WCW Presents: WrestleWar 1991 February 28, 1991 TV Championship Flyin Brian vs The Mountie w/ Border Patrol This is a fun match with Mountie showing he has plenty of steam in the tank. He and Flyin Brian go balls to the wall for 14-minutes… when Border Patrol tries to get involved… Flyin Brian brings out his backup… El Gigante! The Giant comes out and he smashes their heads together. Mountie can’t believe it… when he turns around it is AIR PILLMAN for the 3-count! Freebirds, Pretty Wonderful, & DDP vs Armstrongs & Tracy Smothers This is a different style match… two teams of five… they start in opposite rings… and once the bell rings, then by golly Bob Armstrong rips that neck brace off and he goes to work! Everyone funnels towards one another as this is a 10-man team battle royal. Elimination occurs when someone is thrown out of the ring to the floor. Early on we see Scott Armstrong… he’s out… was he ever really in? A fun double elimination with Tracy Smothers and Jimmy Garvin. Brad Armstrong shines… he’s got a lot of upside. Michael Hayes runs his mouth against Bullet Bob but ducks a clothesline and DDP goes flying out of the ring. Orndorff, Hayes, and Roma vs Bob, Steve, and Brad. Everyone is in one ring and they’re going to work. In the end, we see Roma and Orndorff eliminate Steve. Then Bob comes over to sacrifice himself but he’s tossed as well. Then Brad leaps with a cross body, and he takes out Pretty Wonderful and himself… Michael Hayes looks around… somehow, he is the sole survivor… Bob Holly vs Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer A big show for this one… the lights go out and it is pitch black… a gray smokey spotlight is shown while the Undertaker walks down the aisle, led by Paul Bearer. He’s holding the urn up and he is doing all the faces and making it a spectacle. Bob Holly seems worried… he’s selling big without any contact. This is only about 5-minutes and Bob tries to go at the Undertaker but Taker is no-selling everything. The one move that stumbles him is a dropkick right to the jaw and Taker has to shake it off. It is just enough for Holly to try and make some moves but doesn’t last long. Undertaker counters a flying clothesline into a chokeslam and that’s the beginning of the end. He sets up Holly for the top rope walk and huge clothesline! TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER right in the middle of the ring and the 1…2…3! Taker gets up and his hair continues to drape over his face as he walks to the back. He’s shown his value… but what is his potential? Dustin Rhodes vs Savio Vega A simple showcase… this would be for the live crowd but not on the VHS for all you oldies out there. Dustin is big and fast and he is smooth. Savio sells like a million dollars. A big bulldog for the 3-count! Big Josh vs Scott Hall w/ Paul E A very surprising and fun match for Scott Hall - more of a showcase than anything. Keep the crowd involved while showing off the star power he’s holding. Paul E has got him primed and ready and he takes on Big Josh with ease to an extent. We see the Razor’s Edge as he’s calling it now… cool name… Paul E yells to stick em! He does and gets the 3-count! Dangerous Alliance is on top right now. Marty Jannetty vs Kama w/ Harley Race A good contest… once again… a showcase… Marty is coming into his own a little bit here. He has got some singles skills and he shows them off. Kama, the human fighting machine as Harley calls him… he is big and dangerous. Kama actually looks like he’s going to go for broke and sets up Marty for a Samoan style drop… but Marty counters it into a crucifix for the 3-count! Nikita Koloff w/ Dusty vs Rick Rude w/ Paul E A big one here… these two men have got some heat and with Dusty and Paul E at ringside, it makes it even better. Ross and Heenan put over how both of these men are contenders for the US title and the World title… on any given night. This one starts smooth… but turns into a nasty brawl… quick… Rude flexes and works the crowd but Nikita isn’t giving him an inch. These two brawl all over the ring and even to the outside. Paul E gets some shots in but Dusty is able to thwart him. This one only goes 11-minutes… the phone plays a role in everything… both men grab a weapon… Nikita grabs the chain and Rude grabs the chair and they both go at one another! The referee calls for the bell… double DQ again… Paul E nails Dusty from behind with the phone… Nikita cheeks on him… Rude nails Nikita with the chair! Rude then wraps the chain around Nikita’s head! Referees come down to try and break this up… all hell has broken loose. WCW Word Tag Team Championship Demolition w/ Crush vs Doom w/ Teddy Long This one feels important from the jump. No comedy. No posturing. Just four big men standing across from one another like something real is about to happen. JR talks about power. Bobby says power doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t know how to use it. The bell rings — and we find out pretty quickly that Doom absolutely knows how to use it. Simmons and Smash start. Shoulder block. Nobody moves. They reset. Another shoulder block. Still nothing. Third time — Simmons takes two hard steps back, lowers his shoulder, and runs through Smash like he’s late for a train. The crowd wakes up immediately. Reed tags in and the pace changes. He’s not flashy — just mean. Short forearms. Tight snap suplex. Everything looks heavy. Demolition answer with that old-school clubbing offense. Double teams in the corner. Boots. Grinding headlocks. They look good — really good — but something feels just a half-step off. Like the machine is still running… but not at full RPM. Ax tries to sneak involvement from the apron and the referee gets distracted for a moment. Demolition get control and start leaning on Reed. Long heat segment. Smash works the ribs. Ax tags in and they slow it down — methodical, deliberate, like they’re trying to remind everyone who they used to be. Reed fights out. Gets clipped. Near fall. Crowd bites. Simmons is pacing on the apron. Hot tag. Simmons comes in and it’s controlled chaos. Big clothesline. Spinebuster on Smash that shakes the ring. He dares Ax to step in. Reed follows with a diving shoulder block. Two count. Demolition regroup. They try to set up their old finish — Smash hooks Reed while Ax climbs the ropes. The crowd senses it. But Simmons explodes into the ring and blasts Ax off the top rope. Smash turns around into a massive powerslam. Reed hits the ropes one more time — flying shoulder block, flush. Reed hooks both legs. 1… 2… 3. Fifteen hard minutes inside a 60-minute time limit. Doom retain. No shortcuts. No cheap finish. Just impact. Demolition sit in the corner afterward, breathing heavy. They nod. They don’t look embarrassed. They don’t look broken. But the camera lingers just a little too long. Something’s off. The division feels like it’s moving forward — and they’re not. Teddy Long is screaming, “Tell ‘em who you are!” as Simmons and Reed hold the belts high in the middle of the ring. Doom aren’t just champions. They’re the standard now. US Championship Ricky Steamboat vs Curt Hennig © w/ Paul E Dangerously This one starts the right way. No cheap shots. No nonsense. Just two of the best in the world circling each other. Early chain wrestling. Clean exchanges. Steamboat floats through arm drags like he’s ten years younger. Hennig smirks and adjusts his knee pad like he’s lining up a shot three moves ahead. JR talks about precision. Bobby says nobody in the business is more perfect than Curt Hennig when he’s focused. They’re not wrong. The first ten minutes are tight and technical. Headlocks. Leapfrogs. A deep arm drag that sends Hennig sliding across the mat. Hennig answers with a sharp knee lift and slows things down. He goes to work on the back — methodical, deliberate. Snapmare. Backbreaker. Short, cutting forearms. He’s not rushing. He’s dissecting. Steamboat fires up with chops and the building comes alive. Hennig cuts him off with a picture-perfect dropkick that sends Steamboat crashing through the ropes and into the space between the two rings. That’s when it shifts. They spill into the second ring around the 15-minute mark. The crowd buzzes. It feels tighter over there. Louder. More chaotic. Hennig nearly ends it with a fisherman’s suplex. Two and seven-eighths. Steamboat barely kicks out. Bobby says that’s as close as it gets. Steamboat answers with a flying crossbody. Hennig rolls through. Two count. Both men are breathing heavy now. The pace quickens. They’re throwing everything. Hennig signals for the PerfectPlex. The crowd rises. He hooks it — Steamboat blocks it. Rolls through. Dragon sleeper attempt. Hennig elbows out. Knee to the gut. Backbreaker again. Hennig climbs the ropes looking for something bigger, something final — but Steamboat springs up and meets him. Superplex attempt. Blocked. They fight for balance and tumble awkwardly, crashing back toward the original ring. Steamboat lands first in one ring. Hennig staggers up in the other. The crowd senses it before commentary does. Steamboat doesn’t hesitate. He climbs the turnbuckle of one ring… measures it… leaps the gap… Flying crossbody into the other ring! Hennig goes down hard. Steamboat rolls through and hooks both legs tight. 1… 2… 3. The building explodes. JR is on his feet screaming that we have a new United States Champion. Confetti-level reaction. But in the background — barely audible at first — you hear screaming. Paul E Dangerously is losing his mind on the floor. He’s pointing. Yelling. Shouting something about the rings. About the rules. About where they started. Officials try to calm him down but he’s pacing like a man who just saw his house burn down. Hennig is still down in the other ring, dazed. Steamboat climbs the ropes and holds the championship high over both rings as the fans roar. JR says, “The Dragon has done it!” MAIN EVENT WAR GAMES Sting, Davey Boy Smith, Owen Hart, & Jim Neidhart vs Sid Vicious, Samu, Fatu, & Tonga w/ Harley Race & Kama Two rings. One cage. Tonga taps. The bell rings. Sting, Davey, and Anvil have technically won War Games. They begin climbing out of the cage door as officials try to open it fully. But in the other ring— Samu and Fatu slam the cage door shut. They hold it closed. Sting turns and sees what’s happening too late. Sid grabs Owen. First powerbomb. Owen’s body bounces. Crowd goes silent. Sid drags him up again. Second powerbomb. Owen doesn’t move. Sting is screaming. Davey tries to force the door open. Anvil is pounding on the steel. Sid didn’t win War Games. But he made sure nobody forgets who runs WCW. Fade out on Sting kneeling beside Owen, furious and helpless. War Games is over. But the war isn’t.
ErictheDragon Posted 15 minutes ago Posted 15 minutes ago Okay, having to cut your TV short because Turner execs didn't realize the overlap with the PPV is classic WCW. As for WresttleWar.... Pillman's Giant equalizer allows him to hold onto the TV title. Hayes winning the elimination match without actually eliminating anyone cracked me up. R.I.P Bob Holly. The live crowd sees a good win for the Natural. Hall & Jannetty get their own showcases. Outside shenanigans between Dangerously & Dusty push Rude over the top against Koloff. I now Paul E was getting mega heat for cracking the Dream with that phone. Another successful defense for Doom puts Demolition at a crossroads. After another barnburner, Steamboat stands tall as the new US champion. Sting's Squadron wins Wargames but Sid puts Owen down to prove he still rules the world.
