Buddy-Bert.png

Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to International Pro Wrestling's exciting "Power  Half Hour"! Buddy Lee and Bert talk about the tag team match before the show started and the fans are still howling. They are joined by the victorious duo who are cheered by the fans and talk about a lot more of that for Dark Journey's men. Both talk about taking care of business before worrying about anything down the road, whether it is in singles matches or as a tag team ... their #1 concern is Dark Journey. Buddy Lee talks about Brian Knighton joining Dark Journey and Dundee isn't too worried about it, they've got one-on-one, tag teams or if they want to go 6-man, they have it covered!

UH OH!

HERE COMES DARK JOURNEY!

She's got something to say but first ... THE SLAP HEARD AROUND WRESTLING! She lets loose across Jamie Dundee's face! Bruno steps in and holds his partner back from retaliating as Dark Journey talks about having an answer for them TONIGHT IN PARAGOULD!

The Terrors join the party and we have a scrum in the studio as Buddy Lee throws it to a commercial!

x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x

We go to the ring for our first match of the evening ...

Match #1
#1 Contender Tournament
Tim Renesto versus The Enforcer
Buddy and Bert talk about today's matches as the Tournament continues. The speedy Renesto keeps the masked Enforcer off his game and is able to pin hm with a flying crossbody block.

Bert Prentice reminds everyone ... TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! IPW returns to the Paragould High School in Paragould, Arkansas. Doors open at 6 and bell time is 7 sharp! The stars of International Pro Wrestling will all be in action!

debbietwild.jpg

Speaking of tonight ... our hosts are joined by Debbie T. Wild who will be on tonight's card. Wild is excited to be here bringing women's wrestling to the people of Arkansas. She hopes that some of the World's top stars will come to Arkansas to wrestle.

Buddy Lee sends us to a commercial break!

x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x

We return to the program with Bert and Buddy having been joined by IPW Champion Bill Ash on commentary. Ash, of course, is not impressed by the matches he's seen so far thinking this is nothing but a big waste of time because quite frankly, none of these wrestlers are up to Ash's standards. Bert takes exception to that, saying that Tim Renesto and Pat Rose both put Ash through the wringer and are both poised to take that title around Ash's waist. Buddy Lee steps in to play peacemaker as he calls the action ...

Match #2
#1 Contender Tournament
Cody Michaels versus the Zebra Kid
No information on the newcomer as a fired Michaels throws him all around the ring with a series of armdrags. Zebra answers with a few of his own and wastes time strutting around the ring before turning back to Michaels who sends him over several more times.

Things get heated as the Zebra complains to the referee. Out of a side headlock, Zebra with several closed fisted punches draws the ire of the fans who pint out the rules infraction to the referee who keeps trying to get into better position. Michales adjusts his weight and lifts Zebra Kid and falls back with a suplex. He covers for a two count and a kick out.

The two go back and forth before slugging it out in the center of the ring. Zebra Kid is wobbled but strikes back with an eye rake. While Buddy Lee calls the eye rake, Bill Ash saw no such thing and wants to know why they are speaking badly of the far superior wrestler. Ash would not be surprised if this was one of his former students under the hood. Bert wouldn't be surprised either as this guy cheats just as much as Ash!

Zebra with several near pinfalls but Cody digs down deep to kick out. A handful of tights and feet up on the ropes for added leverage is what Zebra Kid needs to get the win and move on in the tournament. The fans boo and Bill Ash gives a standing ovation for the masked man.

Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice with a big thank you and a reminder to join us next week for more International Pro Wrestling action! The program ends with Bill Ash and Bert Prentice arguing.

Things get heated right away as Dark Journey spoils the victors party with quite a slap. I bet DJ's slaps sting.

Renesto is being built up so well and is contending with Rose as the top babyface.

Nice shout out to the Women.

Great match between Michaels and Zebra. I loved the write up and Ash's commentary added so much. Zebra advances and impresses Ash.

Fun show!

TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT!

Paragould High School
Home of the Rams

Just a month after IPW last rolled into the Paragould High School, the promotion returns!

Hosts Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to the show, promising exciting wrestling action!

Match #1
Debbie T. Wild versus Prissie Purcell
The ladies in action for the first time in IPW and they do not disappoint as things escalated quickly from the argument and shoving match before the bell to the double countout that saw them continue to battle it out to the back.

Match #2
The American versus Johnny Weiss
The flag waving patriot pumps up the fans in a somewhat friendly match that saw both men work a scientific style rather battering each other. The masked man worked his way out of his opponent's abdominal stretch that was really locked in before applying a sleeper. Weiss fought to escape but to no avail and was put to sleep.

After the match, the two shook hands and the American helped Weiss to the back.

Match # 3
Tim Renesto versus Mountain Lou
The speedy Renesto worked his magic in discombobulating the much bigger Lou with a series of dropkicks that knocked the man off balance. A running bulldog put an end to Lou's evening.

During the match, newcomer Zebra Kid came out to scout Renesto, his next opponent in the #1 Contender Tournament. No fireworks as ZK left ringside before the end of the match.

Heading into an intermission, Lee and Prentice are joined by Dark Journey and her crew. DJ is pleased how things are working out for her as she talks of spreading her form of terror across the IPW. She talks about slapping Jamie Dundee just this very morning and tonight, her men will do the same ... if not the Terrors, then future IPW Champion Brian Knighton. She talks about Knighton's future as "the face" of IPW. She can't wait for tonights match as her men will beat down Dundee, Spazz and Plowboy Frazier once again!

Match #4
Jamie Dundee, Bruno Spazzinsky & ? versus the Arkansas Terrors & Brian Knighton w/Dark Journey
Jamie and Bruno come to the ring all fired up but no sign of Plowboy Frazier. The big guy is kind of hard to miss but tonight, no sight of him.

Jamie asks for a microphone to address Dark Journey. He says that due to unforeseen circumstances, Plowboy Frazier couldn't make it. The fans boo while Dark Journey smiles at the absence of the big man. BUT, they were able to find someone who was willing to step in ... now, he might not be the wrestler that Plowboy Frazier is and he might not have the experience the Plowboy Frazier has ... he is just as fired up to get his hands on the Terrors and Knighton!

patrose-SM.jpg

IT'S PAT ROSE!

Rose charges the ring and all three faces come in swinging, sending their opponents fleeing the ring. On the outside, Dark Journey rallies the troops to get back in there and take care of business!

WHAT THE!?!?!

JAMIE DUNDEE AND PAT ROSE JUST LAUNCHED BRUNO SPAZZINSKY TO THE OUTSIDE AND HE WIPED OUT THE TERRORS AND KNIGHTON!

The fans are besides themselves cheering the good guys. Once things settle down the match gets underway, we get all kinds of match ups with both sides getting a chance to shine. The only match up not given is Brian Knighton refusing to face Pat Rose one-on-one, preferring to meet him in their #1 Contendership match next week on TV.

Several near pinfalls as Bruno gets ragdolled several times but Dundee and Rose coming to the rescue. On the other side, Dark Journey and Brian Knighton doing the same for the heels. The end comes with Bruno being whipped across the ring by his corner into Terror #2 and Jamie Dundee with the Bombs Away for the pin while Bruno and Pat Rose hold off the others!

Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice wish everyone a safe trip home after promising that IPW will return to Paragould!

The woman kick things off with a wild one. Not a bad way to open the show.

A clean match follows with the American getting the win.

I hope Zebra was taking notes because he's in for a match against Renesto.

The main event checks all the boxes. Suprise partner, wild melee, Bruno being launched and the babyfaces standing tall in the end.

Very well balanced and fun card.

Gosnell High School
Home of the Pirates - Fund Raiser

A Wednesday night packed house with wrestling for a good cause as IPW comes to a town near you, bringing the best in wrestling action!

Hosts Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to the show, promising exciting wrestling action!

Match #1
Debbie T. Wild versus Prissie Purcell
The ladies in action with basically the same match as the Paragould show on Sunday. They do not disappoint as things escalated quickly from the argument and shoving match before the bell to the double countout that saw them continue to battle it out to the back.

Match #2
Jamie Dundee & Bruno Spazzinsky versus the Arkansas Terrors w/Dark Journey
The feud continues between the two teams and is hard hitting as the wrestling goes right out the window. The Terrors pick up the win here thanks to Dark Journey's interference but Dundee and Bruno pick up the much needed ring work and get the admiration of the fans.

Match # 3
Johnny Weiss versus Brian Knighton w/Dark Journey.
DJ's hired gun takes it out on his opponent, leaving Dark Journey smiling and not needing to stick her nose into the match. She does however jaw with the fans throughout, drawing the loudest booing and heckling of the evening. Running powerslam for the young Knighton who's fortunes have changed under DJ's wing.

After the match, Knighton continues to beat on Weiss under the direction of Dark Journey until Jamie Dundee and Bruno Spazzinsky run him off, carrying chairs to the ring.

The pair sticks around for the intermission as our hosts offer the school's principal for a decent check as part of the fund raiser thanks to IPW and the great fans who came out during the week for the show.

Match #4
The American versus the Cuban Assassin
The flag waving American works the fans up until the Assassin runs in and attacks him before the bell. After chopping down the American, the Assassin drags him around the ring by his leg. With a crazed look on his face, the Cuban Assassin stomps on the American flag before going back to work.

Mounting the ropes, the Cuban Assassins chomps on the masked face of the American, not heeding the referee's commands. He chases the ref around the ring and to the outside, giving the American time to recover.

The fans' delight, the American fights back and nearly pins the Assassin. The two go back and forth with the fans chanting USA! USA! USA! and fully behind the red, white and blue warrior. The veteran Assassin dishes out the beatdown but the American just won't fall and refuses to stay down when pinned, getting a shoulder up at the last possible instance.

A frustrated Cuban Assassin shakes the referee when he can't get the pinfall but makes the fatal mistake of turning his back on his opponent. Using the moment, the American rolls up the Assassin and is able to pick up the 1! 2! 3!

Attacking after the match is over backfires on the Cuban Assassin who eats a mouthful of dropkick, sending him through the ropes and to the outside. He thinks better of reentering the ring with the American beckoning him to come back in and "get some".

The evening ends with the American bringing in some students to parade around the ring with the flag.

Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice wish everyone a safe trip home after promising that IPW will return to Gosnell!

Awesome week in Arkansas.  I really like how you use your Power Half Hour to hype up your hose shows.  This is not only very realistic but also a smart way to bring in the money.

Great use of the women.  Starting with 2 and maybe building to 4 would give you a solid division.

Just love how you know exactly how to get the most out of your roster.  Great shows with little cost. So very Arkansas!

The woman continue to bring the fight. Great way to start the night.

Bruno and Jaime find out they can't win them all. However, they prove they have a lot of fight in them.

I agree, Dark Journey is working wonders for Knighton. This kid's going places.

Fantastic main event! Very well written and exciting. The Cuban Assassin is a great heel hand and the American is really getting over. Great feel good ending.

Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to International Pro Wrestling's exciting "Power  Half Hour" when they are joined by Dark Journey and the Terrors. She goes on about the two lame ducks her men left laying. This is what Jamie Dundee and Bruno Spazzinsky have to look forward to ...

Rip2.jpg

IT'S RIP TYLER AND HE DOES NOT LOOK HAPPY!

Tyler comes out to address things getting out of hand but he's glad Dark Journey is out here so he can address her ... for directing her men to attack Ken Jugan and Johnny Weiss before going to air and disrupting their match is going to cost and cost her big ... That is a $100 fine.

Dark Journey starts to protest but Tyler cuts her off, telling her she's already on very thin ice as it is and advises she watch what she says. Angrily shaking her head, she pulls out money and hands it to Tyler. The Commish counts out $200 and asks what the extra $100 is for?

SLAP.jpg

After hauling off and letting him have it, she turns to storm off, already having paid the extra $100. Rubbing his face, the Commissioner tells her to hold on one second. He's got some more information that she just might be interested in ...

Next Saturday night at the ASU Armory in Jonesboro, Arkansas we will see the New #1 Contender take on the IPW Champion, Bill Ash. Now, Mr. Bill Knighton is still involved in the tournament with a match today. IF Mr. Knighton goes on to win the tournament, he will face Bill Ash BUT should he lose today or on next week's program in the Finals, he will instead face Cody Michaels. As for the Arkansas Terrors, Mr. Jamie Dundee and Mr. Bruno Spazzinsky have asked for a match against your team and I have granted it ... as for your role in the Armory show ... DARK JOURNEY, YOU WILL BE BARRED FROM THE BUILDING!

She goes ballistic and has to be held back by both Terrors as Rip continues ... and if you should somehow find a way in ... YOU WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR 90 DAYS!

The fans go ape over Rip Tyler's announcement as Buddy Lee throws it to a commercial!

x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x

We go to the ring for our first match of the evening ...

Match #1
#1 Contender Tournament
Tim Renesto versus The Zebra Kid
A step up in experience for the ZK who came in with a victory over Cody Michaels last week. Renesto rocks the masked man who kicks out of a pin attempt at the last possible instance. With several rulebreaks, the Zebra Kid fought back, countered Renesto and caught him with an elbow drop off the middle rope to pick up the win and move on to the finals!

Bert Prentice reminds everyone ... TONIGHT! TONIGHT! TONIGHT! IPW returns to the Paragould High School in Paragould, Arkansas. Doors open at 6 and belltime is 7 sharp! The stars of International Pro Wrestling will all be in action!

Joining our hosts are the team of Reno Riggins and Dancing Wolf. No mention of the Crockett Cup, just that the pair are happy to be home on front of the best fans in the biz. They talk about getting back to business and facing Tojo Yamamoto and the New Guinea Headhunter. No more talking, no more playing just time to run them out of Arkansas!

Buddy Lee sends us to a commercial break!

x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x

We return to the program with Bert and Buddy having been joined by Plowboy Frazier. they talk briefly about Dark Journey and her men. Frazier is looking to get his hands on the Terrors and Knighton in the very near future and if he gets his hands on Dark Journey, he's going to throw her over his knee and spank her like her daddy should'a!

Match #2
#1 Contender Tournament
Brian Knighton w//Dark Journey versus Pat Rose
Knighton takes the fight to Rose right out of the get and fight is exactly what it is, rather than a wrestling match. Brian has Rose on the ropes and looks at a possible upset in the making as he hammers away on the ring vet. DJ cheers as the fans jeer his every move.

Though his bell gets rung, Rose does his best to clear the cobwebs and clocks Brian Knighton. DJ pulls him to the outside to get a breather but Rose follows to the outside where they brawl around the ring. Rose with a dropkick knocks Knighton into DJ on the ring apron. Knighton forgets about the match and tries to help the knocked down Dark Journey on the ring apron, leaving an opening for Rose to strike with an inside cradle and roll up Brian Knighton for the 1! 2! 3!

Pat Rose moves on to the finals next week on TV!

Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice with a big thank you and a reminder to join us next week for more International Pro Wrestling action!

Reading your opening scene I get the image of the IPW intro before cutting straight to the Terrors kicking ass. DJ gets her moneys worth as she slaps the boss! Tyler pays her back immediately by banning her from next week's show.

Zebra Kid has come from nowhere to being one win away from a title shot.

Good news for Cody Michaels, it looks like Knighton's gonna be free next Saturday after all.

Really fun Power Half Hour.  I love the segment with the fine on Dark Journey for a few reasons.  First, you know your audience really well.  Most of use would have fined her much more but knowing the poverty in Arkansas, those fans would think $100 would mean a lot.  Also the extra $100 for the slap was priceles

Dark Journey is a highlight every week. That fine/slap segment was awesome TV. I know it would be pretty tame in today's wrestling world, but in the 80s this would've been a big deal.

WOW! Who is the Zebra Kid? He's come on the scene blazing and is one match away from a title shot. I thought Renesto was going to win it. ZK has my attention.

Rose and Knighton tear it up! I loved the intensity. Rose advances, but Knighton is a player. The scene is now set for the Armory and DJ probably isn't happy.

International Pro Wrestling
4-22-1988
ASU Armory
Jonesboro, Arkansas

Saturday night packed house in Jonesboro!

Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice welcome everyone to the show.

Match #1.
Cody Michaels versus Mountain Lou
A month ago, Cody Michaels beat young Brian Knighton. This time however, he drew the "Man Mountain". The athletic Michaels ran roughshod on the big man, winning with a bulldog off the top rope.

Afterwards, he shook hands with his opponent and held the ropes open for him when leaving.

Match #2.
The Arkansas Terrors w/Dark Journey versus Ken Jugan and Johnny Weiss
Tag team action with Dark Journey with a shot at the two guys they jumped at the TV taping earlier in the day. Weiss and Jugan get a shot at revenge but find themselves outmatched by the masked men directed by DJ.

Double pin victory for the Terrors after sending Jugan and Weiss crashing into each other.

Match #3.
Tojo Yamamoto, the New Guinea Headhunter & the Cuban Assassin versus Reno Riggins, Dancing Wolf & Plowboy Frazier
From tag action to 6-man action. A case of all six getting a chance to shine before the sheer size of the Plowboy came into play. The Cuban Assassin as the target of several corner splashes had the fans on their feet before he crashed to the mat and was pinned.

Intermission.
Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice are joined by Reno Riggins, Dancing Wolf & Plowboy Frazier. Congratulations all around before Reno talks about being happy to be here in Arkansas. The Crockett Cup tournament saw him and partner Dacing Wolf having to leave for a bit to compete but they are back and ready to continue their war with Tojo and the Headhunter.

Match #4.
Bill Ash & Prissie Purcell versus Debbie T. Wild & Pat Rose
Mixed tag action in our main event that sees Ash and Rose start things with a heated argument before escalating into a slap followed by right hands. Real donnybrook with Ash and Rose showing no love lost as they try to kill one another.

The ladies are just as hostile to one another when it is their turn. Both teams go back and forth trading near pinfalls until Ash is able to rock Rose with several closed fists when the referee is distracted by Purcell. He sets Rose up for the Arkansas Whiplash but Rose is able to shove him off. A knee to the midsection before Rose hooks Ash up for a vertical suplex, holding him in the air ...

zebraSM.jpg

IT'S THE ZEBRA KID! HE CHARGES INTO THE RING AND NAILS ROSE WITH A KNEE TO THE BACK! ASH DROPS BACK TO HIS FEET AND THE TWO MEN TAKE TO STOMPING AWAY! WE GET THE BELL AND THE DISQUALIFICATION!

Great show...

The ending was so crazy that any kid in the arena will remember that bout for the rest of their lives.  I have been to one wrestling show in my life and will never forget the bodyslam Andre the Giant put on Sgt. Slaughter at the Westchester County Center.

You gave everyone fan in the audience something to get excited about no matter what type of match they like and you did it in only 4 matches.  We get the babyface vs babyface match, the big heel win in the tag team match, a wild 6 man-tag with the fan favorites getting the win and a mixed gender match.   Nice booking!!

Michaels is such a good sport.

Dark Journey has her Terrors focused.

The 6 man tag was a real crowd pleaser. This was a perfect 80s match between top babyfaces and dastardly heels.

As if the 6 man tag wasn't enough, the fans get one heck of a mixed tag match with all hell breaking out in the end. The Zebra Kid is gaining quite the buzz and now inserts himself into a main event program.

Great card!

Tonight! Tonight! Tonight! At the ASU Armory in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the winner of that match gets an instant match against IPW Champ, Bill Ash.

Before we get there however, we have tag team action today with two teams very familiar with one another, Reno Riggins and Dancing Wolf taking on Tojo Yamamoto and the New Guinea Headhunter. These two teams have been battling it out across the territory and both return from Crockett Cup action.

Buddy Lee throws it to a commercial!

x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x

We go to the ring for our first match ...

Match #1
Reno Riggins & Dancing Wolf versus Tojo Yamamoto & the New Guinea Headhunter
Burnburner of a match that turns into a brawl with all four men going at it making it very difficult for the referee to keep control. Warning issued to both teams about throwing this one out if they do not obey his commands.

Tojo with the kendo stick hits his partner instead of the ducking Riggins. Fast tag to Dancing Wolf who hits the wobbled Headhunter with the flying tomahawk chop for the pinfall as Riggins holds off Tojo.

Joining our hosts are the team of Reno Riggins and Dancing Wolf. A slightly out of breath Riggins throws out a challenge to Tojo Yamamoto and the New Guinea Headhunter for tonight. There's a lot more beatdown left where that came from!

Buddy Lee sends us to a commercial break!

x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x

We return to the program with Bert and Buddy having been joined by commissioner Rip Tyler. They sell tonight's show with a reminder from Rip about the stipulations placed on Dark Journey having been banned from tonight's matches at the ASU Armory. If she shows her face inside the building she will face a 90 suspension. He's been very lenient up until this point but make no mistake, there is no getting around this ...  HE MEANS BUSINESS!

Match #2
#1 Contender Tournament - FINALS
The Zebra Kid versus Pat Rose
Things start slow with the Zebra Kid hesitant to lock up. He wants the referee to back up Rose, he wants a time out and does anything else he can to slow down as well as frustrate Rose which of course draws the ire of the fans.

Once finally locking up, Rose chains together move after move, putting the Zebra Kid to the mat, more than once rolling him to his back for 2 counts. To his credit, the Zebra Kid weathers the storm and shows his own wrestling prowess, putting Rose to the mat and with a handful of trunks able to get a 2 count of his own.

The two go back and forth with Zebra Kid getting the upper hand, twisting with a hammerlock and grabbing hair. Reversed by Rose, Zebra shouts out about his hair being pulled. The ref watches closely for an infraction, seeing none being committed. Zebra pulls free and shoves the referee out of the way. Rose shoves Zebra Kid off into the ropes, catches him up on the return, lifts him into the air and falls backwards, planting him facefirst into the canvas. Hooking a leg ...

1!

2!

3!

PAT ROSE IS THE IPW #1 CONTENDER!

The fans cheer as Buddy Lee and Bert Prentice with a big thank you and a reminder to join us next week for more International Pro Wrestling action!
