Dan Spivey gets an impressive win but Roddy has to open his mouth and take the spotlight....

Great main event with the tag team four-way. Latin Connection gets a victory thanks to Mando's creative thinking to say the least. Going up against the RnR Express will be a big challenge for them though.

Lord Humongous fits right in with the rest of the big boys in WCW, but he might be too much even for them....I love the way you are doing the Humperdink promos.

I am so happy to see Dan Spivey get a real push... I really wanted to back in Windy City but then I got Bam Bam Bigelow and that set me on a different trajectory. I felt like this time for him in his career until 91 could be  prime opportunity to run with the ball... he has Sid's size but twice as much talent... who knows.

Then we've got Piper... with whom I have never been a fan of... just lighting up the world right now.

Also good stuff with Schiavone and Ross... they are such a great duo and you've done well capturing them.

The promos were gold tonight. WCW has a roster full of great talkers and you capture them all so well. BTW, Mando is really shining on the mic.

Piper adds so much to the show. He's not afraid to make fun of anyone hahahaha.

RnR are the favorites, but man I'm pulling for the Latin Connection.

I think Dusty is going to whip some serious butt in the bunkhouse match.

Sting's fired up, but I have a feeling the Horsemen are planning something big.

Humungous is being built up as an unstoppable monster. Damn good visual.

Could Arn be the one to get Piper back to the ring?

Valiant's having some fun and Rogers will be looking for payback.

Reed is about to explode, and it might be on Gilbert.

The Clash has been built up well and I can't wait for the pay off.

PREVIEW SHOW

U.S. Tag Team Title Match

The Rock n Roll Express vs The Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero & Ricky Santana) with Dr. Diobolico

This match will be the first of three title matches here at Clash of Champions as WCW has decided that it was time to bring back a second tag team title.  Many speculate that this was part of the deal with the Rock n Roll Express returning to the promotion as they were anointed one of the teams to be involved in this match from the get-go.  As for who the Express would face, that took some time to figure out.  The Latin Connection, The Nightmares, The Young Guns and the Lightening Express battled for this spot with the Latin Connection getting the nod after some shenanigans.

WCW WORLD TELEVISION TITLE MATCH

“Z-Man” Tom Zenk © vs “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt

Tom Zenk has nothing but an honorable WCW World Television Champion but that can not be said of his opponent “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert.  “The Hustler” Rip Rogers and Gilbert both wanted this title match and they both resorted to some real questionable tactics in an attempt to earn it.  It turned out that Gilbert was just a little dirtier than Rogers.  First, he and Missy created a fake broken leg for Missy that allowed him to go out and get hired gun Bull Nakano for the 3-Team Intergender Match against Zenk, Medusa, Rogers and Terri Powers which finally ended with Gilbert pinning Zenk after Missy hit the champ with the crutches.

After getting the tainted pin over Zenk, WCW decided that Gilbert should get the TV Title match at Fall Brawl but it was yet to be determined who the champion would be as Zenk had a tough match coming up with Hacksaw Butch Reed.  Gilbert was petrified at the thought of facing Reed for the title, so he interfered in the Zenk-Reed title match causing Reed to be DQ’D.

Zenk, being the honorable champion that he is, gave Reed a rematch a few weeks later.  This time, Gilbert, with the help of Missy, attacked Zenk before the match.  This not only made sure that Hot Stuff would face Zenk at Fall Brawl but also forced the champion to come into the bout at less than 100%.

BUNKHOUSE MATCH

(COME AS YOU WANT)

“The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes & Ron Simmons vs Jimmy Jack Funk & Black Bart

There is not a lot to say here.  This all started when Jimmy Jack attacked Ron Simmons during his match with Black Bart.  Dusty saw a Funk in WCW and went nuts.  A Funk saw Dusty and needed to try and hurt him. (With a branding Iron of course)  Black Bart and Ron Simmons are along for the ride.  Bart seems to be in his element in the Bunkhouse Match and you can bet on him coming to the ring with his bull rope!  Newcomer Ron Simmons is the wildcard here.  He definitely has the size and power but he has not fought in to many grudge matches in his young career.  Not sure what is going to happen here but you can expect it to be wild.

WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

If the Champs win, they each get 5 minutes alone with Gary Hart

Dr. Death & Ted DIbase © vs Abdullah the Butcher & Tarzan Goto with Gary Hart

Gary Hart appeared in WCW shortly after Dibiase and Dr. Death.  He made it very clear that he was here to collect a 2-million-dollar bounty placed on the careers of Dr. Death and Dibiase by Sheik Adnan Al Kassie.  Dr. Death and Dibiase conned Sheik out of the money and then abruptly left Mid-South with his money.  Sheik was not granted a wrestling license in WCW but Hart was and the Hart made a deal with the devil to come get the champs.  Gary Hart found to monsters, Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto to do all the heavy lifting for him but, as you would expect, the champs did not flinch and have met Abbie and Goto at every turn.  In fact, they have put out their own two million dollar bounty on Gary Hart.  They figured why not put the Sheik’s money to good use by taking out their biggest enemy.

Both sides are extremely confident that they will collect at Fall Brawl.  So much so that Gary Hart was willing to put himself in the ring against each of the champs if his team came up short.  Not sure what is going to happen, but this is must-see-tv.

 MAIN EVENT

“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair & “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson vs “The Total Package” Lex Luger & Sting

This all started when Flair and Anderson wooed Lex Luger and wanted him to be the next Horsemen.  Luger, spurned by Woman in the past, turned them down and sided with Sting, Dusty and the fans.  This, along with Sting, attacking the Horsemen at every turn has Flair and Arn fuming.  So much so that they attacked Sting in the locker room during a Lex Luger match.  Again, expect the unexpected here with the 4 biggest names in WCW at the current time.

To try and keep ths somewhat historically accurate, this card was relatively short for a big event with only 5 matches.

U.S. Tag Team Title Match

The Rock n Roll Express vs The Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero & Ricky Santana) with Dr. Diobolico

8PXHLww.png?1

Your typical good vs evil match to open the show here as the Rock n Roll Express have 100% of the crowd behind them.  Interesting thing here is that these are four of the smaller stars currently in WCW and they might have put on the best match of the night.  With all the bumping and selling that went on, the fans were on the edge of their seats with each momentum change.  The Latin Connection used some really dirty tactics to even earn this title bout and it was no different tonight.

Poz2CG0.png

Dr. Diobolico, still wearing an eye patch from the hair removal cream, made his presence felt from the opening bell as he never missed an opportunity to trip someone or get involved with a kick or a knee whenever the action spilled to the outside.

In the end we get a normal RnR Express match with Ricky Morton playing the face in peril, where he takes the beating of his life only to make the hot tag to Robert and then we go bonzo-gonzo with all four men in the ring.  Mando Guerrero, not the legal man in the ring, takes the first double drop kick and falls to the arena floor.  Dr. Diobolico jumps up on the apron and ref Pee Wee Anderson goes to confront him.

WHAM… another Double Drop kick- This time on Ricky Santana.

Mando Guerrero is back in the ring and he is reaching into his tights.  Out comes the Guerrero Hair Removal Cream as Mando closes in on Robert Gibson from behind.

dP6soQ3.png

Lucky Robert sees this in time and kicks Mando in the gut.  Mando is down and the cream goes flying.

Ricky Morton sees this and scoops up the cream in anger.

AHHHHGGG screams Robert Gibson as Ricky Santana connects with a lowblow.

Morton is all over Mando and doesn’t know what has just happened.  Santana covers Gibson….

1…2…3!

The Latin Connection, with a complete disrespect for any rules, have won the United States Title!

Pee Wee Anderson is not sure what just happened but Robert is flailing around on the floor.

WCW WORLD TELEVISION TITLE MATCH

“Z-Man” Tom Zenk © vs “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt

BCWeTSV.png

Z-Man, with his shoulder bandaged from the recent attack by Eddie Gilbert, is poised for revenge and starts this match like a house a fire.  Eddie Gilbert, who has too much experience, decides to be the annoying frightened heel where he pulls out every trick in the book.  He exits the ring.  He hides behind the ref.  He calls for timeout.  He begs for mercy!  The Z-Man is so fired up that he doesn’t fall for any of this and is in complete control for the first segment of the match.  Missy tries everything to help Eddie but even she can’t change the momentum.

Now things get interesting as Hacksaw Butch Reed makes his way to the ring.  Nobody is quite sure what will happen next.  He is fuming with Gilbert for costing him two recent title shots against Zenk but instead of going after Hot Stuff, he just stands at ringside.

This seems to unnerve everyone, including Zenk who has personally felt the pain that Reed’s power can cause.  Gilbert uses this distraction to regroup and he catches Zenk coming in too quickly with an elbow to the jaw.  Gilbert now uses this to get the advantage as he eventually connects with a Hot Shot as he drops Zenk headfirst across the top rope.

A quick cover, a hold of the tights and legs on the bottom rope for added leverage leads to Gilbert getting the win as Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert is now the WCW World Television Champion and the face of the franchise as he describes it.

rlXRSxj.jpg?1

As the ref hands the title to Gilbert, Hacksaw Butch Reed jumps up on the apron.  Gilbert sees this and looks like he has seen a ghost.  The camera closes in on Reed as we see him give the “throat slashing sign” as he points to Gilbert.

llHMQtn.jpg

Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone make sure everyone knows that Eddie Gilbert is now the hunted WCW TV Champion and he is being hunted by one of the most dangerous men in wrestling.

BUNKHOUSE MATCH

(COME AS YOU WANT)

“The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes & Ron Simmons vs Jimmy Jack Funk & Black Bart

Now this is one the fans are excited for.  Jimmy Jack has antagonized their precious Dusty Rhodes so much in recent weeks they want blood.  Throw in Bunkhouse rules, Dusty coming to the ring with big cowboy boots on a what looks like a cowbell, Jimmy Jack with a branding iron and Black Bart with a bull whip.  Ron Simmons looks a little out of place as he comes to the ring in his regular tights but when you see his physique, you realize his body is his bunkhouse rules weapon of choice.

Give Ted Turner some credit as he must have told the boys to go easy on the cutting to not turn off the new TV fan, as their was minimal blood in this one.  We do have Dusty showing a little color but not what you would expect.

As for the match, the momentum was 70-30 in favor of Dusty and Simmons.  The end finally came a bionic elbow from Dusty to Jimmy Jack which followed up about 10 stiff right hands to the face of Funk and then a huge Cow Bell Shot.  Jimmy Jack was basically out on his feet and Dusty got exactly what he wanted to as he put a beating on a member of the Funk family.

Dusty and Simmons celebrated for a few minutes as they were really interacting with the crowd.  Just as ref Pee Wee Anderson raises the hands of Rhodes and Simmons…

WHAM… From behind, both a wobbly Jimmy Jack and Black Bart attack Ron Simmons….

Dusty turns to see what is going on…

WHAM….You won’t believe this…. With the Branding Iron… Terry Funk is here and is attacking The American Dream.  Fans are screaming… Woman and Children are crying…. The beating goes on and on!  Funk is like a man possessed.

4UnFuAO.png

Finally, when Terry and only when Terry is done, do the Funks and Black Bart leave the ring,

Dusty and Simmons are given some time to recoup but they still need help to get to the locker room as Dick Murdoch, The Rock n Roll Express and Tom Zenk all come to their aide.

fL9Ndeb.png?1

When Dusty said that he would not accept a Funk in WCW, nobody thought that would bring Terry!  It looks like it is round 100 of the greatest wrestling feud of our time.

WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

If the Champs win, they each get 5 minutes alone with Gary Hart

Dr. Death & Ted DIbase © vs Abdullah the Butcher & Tarzan Goto with Gary Hart

For both Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone, the most interesting thing about this match was how calm Gary Hart was throughout the match.  They both admitted that they would be shaking in their boots knowing that they could, at any minute, be facing both Dr. Death and Ted Dibiase inside the ring if their team lost.

As for the bout, it was just as expected…. A War!

One big blow after another.  Whether it was a punch, kick, elbow, suplex, fork, loaded black glove by Dibiase… the rule book was pretty much thrown out for this match.  After we go about 15 wild and chaotic minutes, Dr. Death connects with the Oklahoma Stampede on Tarzan Goto for the win!

GXgGlRk.png?1

The champs barely celebrate as they want Gary Hart in the ring right away.  The ring announcer lets everyone know that before Hart will begin his portion of the match, Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto must exited the ring and go to the locker room.

Gart Hart goes to his men and seems to whisper into their ears because neither Goto and Abbie seemed to comprehend anything the ring announcer just said.  Hart eventually points to the back and Goto and Abbie head for the runway and behind the curtain.

Gary Hart starts to head for the ring as the champs decide it will be Dibiase to get the first 5 minutes.

As the ring announcer calls for the bell, Hart retreats to the corner as Dibiase just smirks at him!

Next thing you know, Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone are yelling for Dibiase to Watch Out!

From behind… two huge Samoans…. Many WCW fans had no idea who they were, but Schiavone announces them as the Samoan Swat Team from the WWF…

Fc2PFYz.png

The brawl is on!  Maybe the champs were worn out or the Samoans were that tough, but the cannibal-looking duo roughed up the champs pretty good for the next 10 minutes.

When the 10 minutes were up…  Gary Hart grabbed the house microphone and announced to everyone that it wasn’t so tough lasting 10 minutes against Dibiase and Dr. Death and that they better worry about lasting another week in professional wrestling!

With the champs pretty battered, Hart called off the dogs and he and his “new team” left ringside.

MAIN EVENT

“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair & “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson vs “The Total Package” Lex Luger & Sting

0DkohHr.png     Acn0M3C.png

The excitement…. The trash talking … the figure pointing!  This match pitted four of the best in the business who each had some major resentment for the others!  As for the match, you have to give it to Flair and Arn who bumped and sold really well to help put the babyfaces over.

In the end, we see a botched interference by Dan Spivey which allowed for Sting to connect with the Stinger Splash on Arn for the win!

Tune in next week to hear Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross and Roddy Piper try to explain exactly what went on here tonight!

The next Clash of Champions, Season’s Beatings, will be in Baton Rouge at the Riverside Centroplex on December 7th right here on Superstation 17!

In the midst of absolute craziness, The Latin Connection score what can be considered a huge upset to become US tag champs.

Gilbert is finally the undisputed TV champ but how long can he hold it with Reed on the hunt.

Terry Funk is in the WCW and Rhodes may rue the day he ever ran his mouth.

I feel like we should have known Hart was smart enough to have a backup plan.

Speaking of plans, the Horsemen's clearly backfired and now Sting has a pretty strong claim to a title shot. Perhaps at Seasons Beatings?

Hahahaha, I loved all the shenanigans in the opening bout. Great way to kick off the night. I must admit, I'm happy the Latin Connection won the titles. Mando's promos will be gold.

Well, Gilbert finally legitimized himself as the true TV champ. However, he must now deal with Reed.

First a heated feud with Lawler and now he's coming after Rhodes. Terry Funk is having one great month and I'm sure he's making a lot of money. Bring on Rhodes and Funk!

Of course, Gary Hart had a back up plan. I always thought the SST was an underrated tag team. Can't wait to watch Hart lead them.

After a night of heavy heel action, the fans get to go home happy as Sting and Luger win a battle with the Horsemen. I think Spivey is going to get an earful next Saturday.

Great show.

Fall Brawl delivered as expected. It's good to see the Latin Connection with gold around their waists

The clash between Tarzan Goto/Abdullah and DiBiase/Williams lived up to the hype. It'll be interesting to see how the Samoan Swat Team does in WCW.

The Horsemen face a setback after losing to Sting and Luger, but what other schemes do they have...

Two matches and two titles fall. Now, the R-n-R's have to chase with a possibly injured Robert Gibson. Does not bode well for the former champs as the chase begins.

Eddie Gilbert cheats his way to a win but now has to always look over his shoulder with Butch Reed hot on his tail. Missy's got her work cut out for her as she runs interference.

Looks like the SST is Gary Hart's new guys. That's a pretty tough team to have to face.

Terry Funk shows up to support his family. That is not good news for Dusty and Ron Simmons.

Sting and Lex coming out on the winning end can't sit well with Ric and Arn.

W....C...W

You've got a lot going on here... plenty of stories to dig into and some more fruitful than others. Obviously the Horsemen is the top tier... we've talked... I kind of wish we could come up with something to see how different this could look with different figures in these spots. This is good stuff don't get me wrong but there's a part of me that has watched and remembers it and wouldn't mind seeing it a different way. But the forumla of Sting vs the Horsemen is always money.

Same goes for Funk and Rhodes... I remember the legends of wrestling where Rhodes talked about him and funk in like 2006.... these guys had battles all over...

Dr. Death and Dibiase is a team I am pulling for in terms of team of the year. They are an amazing mix of talent... lots of heat and pop when needed. They fit the bill here instead of a gimmicked tag team...

EPISODE #9

OCTOBER 21, 1988

The show starts with a video from Fall Brawl as we see Terry Funk beating Dusty Rhodes with a branding Iron.

Tony Schiavone:  Hello everybody.  Welcome back to World Championship Wrestling.  Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross and Roddy Piper with you.  Jim, what a night it was this past Tuesday night in St. Petersburg and Fall Brawl.

Jim Ross:  That’s right Tony!  We saw new United Stated Tag Team Champions crowned as the Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero & Ricky Santana) defeated the Rock n Roll Express.

Tony Schiavone:  In very controversial fashion I might add..

Jim Ross:  You said a mouth full there Tony and we will take a look at how that match ended a little later.  We also saw a new WCW World Television Champion crowned as “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert defeated “The Z-Man” Tom Zenk but the two matches everyone are talking about are the WCW World Tag Team Title Match where Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death survived a brutal match with Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto only to be attacked by the Samoan Savages before they had their chance to take Gary Hart to the woodshed.  And as you just saw, Jimmy Jack Funk was not the only Funk at the Bayfront Center Tuesday night as Terry Funk attacked Dusty Rhodes in extremely violent fashion.

Tony Schiavone:  I mean what Terry did to Dusty just shows the hatred he has for the American Dream.  I know Dusty will be here later and I’m sure he will have a lot to say about the incident.

Jim Ross:  Last thing before we get to tonight’s action.  WCW has announced their next two major events.  The second Clash of Champion’s, Seasons Beatings will take place on December 7 at the Riverside Centroplex in Baton Rouge.  This huge event will once again also be broadcast live on Superstation 17!  And then, the Grand Daddy of them All, coming to you from the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio, Texas, the day after Christmas, December 26th…. Wrestlecade!

Tony Schiavone:  There is no denying World Championship Wrestlng is firing on all cylinders right now and tonight will be no different.  Let’s get to the ring as newcomer “The Magnificent Muraco” is set to make his WCW debut.

MATCH #1

“The Magnificent” Don Muraco defeats Don Allen with the Hawaiian Hammer (Reverse Piledriver)

Post-Match Interview with Roddy Piper

Roddy Piper:  Magnificent Muraco… M&M… ( As Roddy pulls out his shirt to make himself look fat), I wonder if that’s what you’re eating to get in such physical condition?

As Muraco closes in…

Roddy Piper:  Whoa now big fella.  I mean no disrespect.  I find it amazing that you always look like you’re about to have a litter of puppies yet you can bench press like 600 pounds.  You’re amazing!   I think I know you better than anyone else here in WCW and I can tell that these people aren’t ready for the “Magnificent One.”

Don Muraco:  WCW… the place that has it all.  The excitement I’m feeling around here is like a giant mushroom cloud.  It’s just blowing up…. At least that’s what I heard so I came down here to see for myself.  I walked around a bit before I headed to the ring tonight.  I see this guy Lex Luger.  Man… that dude looks like he can lift condominiums off his chest.  His arms look like they can support the Golden Gate Bridge.  Then you got this guy Tom Zenk running around here.  I mean that guy looks like a model.  He is just so pretty…. And I heard he can really do some work in that ring.  Throw in the NFL Superstar Ron Simmons and the barroom brawler… Captain Redneck, Dick Murdoch.  I mean WCW has got it all…. Well at least now it does as the Magnificent One is here and I’m like all those guys rolled into one.  I got the power of a Luger.  The looks of a Z-Man.  The athleticism of a Ron Simmons and the tenacity of a Dick Murdoch and if any of them want to step into the ring with me, I will show them why they are all great but I am the one and only Magnificent One!

Roddy Pipper:  You are a real piece of work brother but I will say that everyone here better be on their toes.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

When we come out of break, we see Dusty Rhodes with Roddy Piper who knows to play this on the straight and narrow after what went down between Dusty and Terry Funk last week.

Dusty Rhodes:  “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes has been in this game a long time and seen a lot of things.  I’ve also had plenty of time to get to learn what people are all about.  Being all around this country, I quickly learned about the Funks!  Let me tell ya’ll this.  I don’t care for Dory Funk!  I don’t care for Jimmy Jack Funk.  I don’t care for Old Man Funk!  I don’t even like Mother Funk!  But most of all, I hate Terry Funk!  I mean he is just so stupid!  I mean how many times do I have to beat his you know what before he stops coming back for more.  Now last week, you might have snuck up on the American Dream and put these stiches in my head!  (Dusty starts hitting himself right where the stiches are and blood starts to trickle down his face) BUT IF YOU THINK YOU, A BRANDING IRON AND ANY OTHER FUNKS ARE GOING TO KEEP ME DOWN, YOU ARE EVEN STUPIDER THAT I THOUGHT!

Roddy Piper:  Ok big fella, ok.  I think you should just calm down a bit.  I am sure in due time you and Terry Funk will meet up again.  Let’s go back to the ring, where the Texas Outlaws are back together again.

MATCH #2

The Texas Outlaws:  “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch & Stan “The Man” Hansen destroy Dean Garret and Brian McGrath with the end coming after a big lariat by Hansen on Garret.

Roddy Piper:  Well, I see the Texas Outlaws are back together again.  Stan, you’re just back from Japan and I bet you scared them over there just like you do the women and children over here.  Still not sure if it’s the tobacco juice running down your face or the odor coming off you’re big body, but I’m sure the kidderoos will be huddled up with mommy tonight after another nightmare.

Stan Hansen:  Shut up Piper!  I had a great opportunity to go to Japan and wrestle all over that country but now I’m back and Dick and I are still after those WCW World Tag Team Titles!

Dick Murdoch:  Stan, you got that right and I also want to let Dusty Rhodes know that I got his back.  We all know what type of dirty dog Terry Funk is.  Dusty and I where the original Texas Outlaws and I would do anything for that man.

Roddy Pipper:  I hope that includes a shower.

Dick Murdoch:  What did you say Piper.

Tony Schiavone:  I think its time for a break.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

When we come out of break, the new WCW United States Tag Team Champions, The Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero & Ricky Santana) and Dr. Diabolico are with Roddy Piper.

Roddy Piper:  Well what do ya know?  Old Hot Rod” himself was wrong.  I wouldn’t have believed it had I not seen it for myself.  Team Taquito here beat the Rock n Roll Express to win the U.S. Tag Titles.  I see Dr. Diobolico here has stopped playing pirate and his eye patch is off.  So, I guess that hair removal cream only removes eye sight for 4-6 weeks.  I hope you are seeing straight Diobolico because it looks like you’re eyeing me up pretty good right now  … but I want you to know that just because I wear a skirt, I don’t sway that way!

Mando Guerrero:  Nothing you can say today Piper is going to bother us.  Everything we touch turns to gold.  The Guerrero name has once again proven why it is #1 in the wrestling business.  The hair removal cream, the envelops of cash from Gart Hart and now the United States Tag Team Champions!  The Latin Connection is on top!

Roddy Piper:  Oh Mando… the fake confidence is showing through.  We all now that the Rock n Roll Express are not going to stand for the way that match ended.  We all now they are coming back with bandanas tied tightly around their pretty heads.  And we all know that unless you give them some Mexican water before the match, they will be ready for you.

Ricky Santana:  Piper… you talk such a good game for someone who stands here with a microphone.  Anytime you want to find a partner, the Latin Connection is ready.

Roddy Piper:  Oh young Ricky… you are so gung-ho but I think Papa San here should teach you that you don’t throw rocks at a man with a machine gun!  Now go on your merry way and sober up from your tequila.

MATCH #3

Lord Humongous with Oliver Humerdink nearly decapitated James Bradley in 30 seconds with the end coming with a powerbomb that nearly broke Bradley in half.

Whether it was the hockey mask, the nearly 7’0 height, the 300-pounds of chisled muscle, Oliver Humperdink in army fatigues or the fact that Lord Humongous scooped up Bradley after the match and military press slammed him out of the ring all the way to the ring floor, the fans seemed to be truly frightened.  In fact, everyone in the building seemed upset by their presence except for Roddy Pipper who started the post-match interview wondering if Humongous was wearing the mask to hide a bad case of acne.  Humperdink warned Piper to be careful!

Roddy Piper:  Funny thing General Hump…  I’m not the careful type but I’ve been wondering if you have this monster of yours wearing that mask just to make people think you’re not the ugliest man in the room.  In fact, with a face like yours, you couldn’t get a date with a $100 bill stuck to your forehead!

Humperdink:  Piper… WCW… you’ve all been warned.  You’ve all seen the power and destruction of Lord Humongous.  He is unstoppable.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

When we come out of break, Gary Hart, the Samoan Savages, Abullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto are all with Roddy Piper.

Roddy Piper:  Gary… ya know old Hot Rod here has a lot of respect for you but this gang of cannibals you’re assembling here seem to be the first generation in their families walking upright.  What’s the deal?

Gary Hart:  Roddy… Roddy… Roddy… It’s simple.  I’m being paid a lot of money to rid the wrestling world of Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death Steve Williams.  Now I will admit that they are putting up a better fight then I ever thought they would but a wise man understands that 4 monsters are better than two.  Dibiase and Williams… you barely survived when it was just Abdooooolah and Taaarzan Goto.  Now throw in the two monsters behind me… the Samoan Savages…. Fatu and Samu... Trust me when I say this… WCW will soon have new tag team champions and I will soon be very, very wealthy.

Roddy Piper:  I will admit this Gary Hart… these 4 men behind me right now give me the chills and I don’t frighten easily.  Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death, I would be very afraid!

MATCH #4

“The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant defeats Lee Ramsey with the wild elbow drop

Roddy Piper:  Jimmy, Jimmy,  I got just one question for ya… you see, I hear you calling yourself the “Boy from New York City.”  Well if you are a boy from New York City, the year must be 1923.  I mean come on man.  You look like you and Rip Van Winkle were neighbors.

Jimmy Valiant:  Come on now Roddy brother!.  You know you’re only as old as you feel and after I was done kissing Terri Powers a few weeks ago I feel like I’m 17 again.  I mean man… what a woman!

Roddy Piper:  Yeah I heard about that.  I was told Terri filed papers with the state in case she came down with rabies!

Suddenly out comes Terri Powers and Rip Rogers.  Rogers gets right in the face of Jimmy and starts berating him.  Terri shoves Rip out of the way and gives him a huge smack of her own.

WHAM…. Jimmy plants another huge kiss on Terri.  Terri stumbles back and knocks into Rip.  Rip goes down as the Boogie Woogie Man dances away!

Rip recovers but Valiant is already gone.  Terri is on the side spitting out the taste of Jimmy as Piper is having a grand old laugh.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

When we come out of break, Eddie Gilbert with his new WCW TV Title and Missy Hyatt are with Roddy Piper.  Piper ribs Gilbert about where his Mid-South TV Title belt has gone but Eddie just ignores and puts on a show about how it is just perfect for WCW that the beautiful people are now the face of the promotion.  Piper informs Gilbert that next week, right here on the Superstation, “The Z-Man” will get his rematch.  Gilbert begins to protest but he catches a glimpse of Hacksaw Butch Reed, who is coming out for the next match, and Eddie and Missy scurry away.

MATCH #5

Hacksaw Butch Reed defeats Tim Carrol with the Military Press Slam

Reed’s post-match interview with Piper is very interesting.  Piper kind of pushes all the right buttons to get Reed all fired up as he is just reiterating what Gilbert had said about being the face of WCW and the best Television champion this company has ever had.  You can just tell by the veins jumping off of Reed that he wants Gilbert in a bad way.

This is when Snowman and Kareem Muhammed come out and try to convince Reed to stay focused on the cause of the Nation and not to get focused on titles.  Reed is so angry to begin with that this doesn’t go well and he just throws his arms up and walks away from Snowman and Muhammed.

Piper is kind of laughing and wonders if Reed has just thrown a wrench in their Blank Panther Party.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Before the match, the WCW tag team champions are with Jim Ross (it seems that WCW understands who to keep Piper away from).  Both Dibiase and Dr. Death are fuming about the way Gary Hart manipulated the situation at Fall Brawl.  Jim Ross asked if they were concerned that Gary Hart now seemed to have 4 monsters in his stable but Dibiase and Dr. Death said it would take a 100 people to get them out of WCW.  They also said that they have been meeting with some very important people on how to deal with Gary Hart.  When Ross asked if this was about their bounty on Hart, they both shrugged their shoulders.

MATCH #6

Sting & Lex Luger defeat The Nightmares in dominant fashion with the end coming from a Stinger Splash on Nightmare #1

In their post-match interview, Sting and Luger are all amped up about defeating Anderson and Flair at Fall Brawl.  Sting and Luger are wondering if this is the beginning of the end of the Horseman and both want to be the one to take the belt off of Flair and/or Spivey.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Before our next match, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Dan Spivey and Woman are all with Piper.  Piper continuous to show Flair absolutely zero respect but Flair pays him no mind.  Flair goes on to say what a fluke it was that Sting pinned him at Fall Brawl.  When Piper asks if that fluke was caused by the mess up by “Dangerous” Dan Spivey, Flair told Piper to mind his business.  Flair went on to say that the Four Horsemen were so far and above everyone in WCW that he may have lost focused but who could blame them with all their fancy cars,  jet planes and rolex watches.  Piper, again sticking the needle in, wondered if Sting was now the man in WCW as Flair always said “to be the man, you had to beat the man.”

 MAIN EVENT

WCW U.S. TITLE MATCH

“Dangerous” Dan Spivey © vs Ron Simmons

This wild match ended after a few minutes due to TV time running out.  Interesting thing here was that Flair, Anderson and Woman all walked back to the locker room for the match, leaving Spivey to battle Simmons all alone.

Tony Schiavone:  Folks, I am not sure when I felt such anger in the arena as tonight.  It seems to me that WCW is a powder keg ready to explode.  Join us next week to as we now have two return title matches from Fall Brawl signed.  It will be “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert vs “The Z-Man Tom Zenk for the WCW World TV Title.  Also, just in, the Latin Connection will be defending their U.S. Tag Team Titles against the Rock n Roll Express!  What a night it is going to be.  For Jim Ross and Roddy Piper, I’m Tony Schiavone, we’ll see you next week right here on World Championship Wrestling.

Other Wrestlers getting wins on today’s TV show:

Medusa Micelli, The Lightening Express, Sam Houston, The Samoan Savages, Arn Anderson, and The Rock n Roll Express.

Muraco with a solid debut that actually has Piper singing his praises.

There's a bunch of fired up Texans in WCW right now and Piper might want to watch what he says.

Another cracking exchange between Mando and the Hot Rod.

Lord Humongous with another dominant performance.

Hart is building a truly terrifying army.

Valiant lays another on Terry who didn't seem to enjoy it anymore the second time.

This feud with Gilbert is driving a wedge between Reed and the Nation.

Sting and Luger are hot on the Horsemen's trail just as Spivey looks to have landed himself in the doghouse.

Muraco will be a very interesting piece in WCW. I'm looking forward to what he does here.

Piper has some serious guts as he continues to push buttons. Something that's very interesting to me, is his respect for Gary Hart. I'm going to keep an eye on that.

It's good to see the old fired up Dusty Rhodes here. Terry Funk has a way of bringing that out in people LOL.

Hansen and Murdoch are back and brawling.

Who would've thought that Mando and Piper would steal the show every week. I always look forward to these interactions.

Humperdink's hype meets the expectations as Humungous makes quite a splash.

Boogie Woogie man has found the fountain of youth.

I'm wondering if the Nation will end up getting Gilbert out of this jam with Reed.

Sting and Luger have so much adrenaline going right now.

The Horsemen leave Spivey hanging. Luckily he hangs onto his title.

WCW is really clicking right now.

Man oh man, Piper is just asking for it. While he can take care of himself, there is a whole host of people he might not want to piss off.

Spivey looks like he is on the inside about to be thrown to the curb. Not a good place to be.

Don't think Flair took too kindly to Piper asking if Sting was now the man which I would tend to agree with IF Sting was in singles competition rather than tagging with Lex.

The one guy being overlooked is Humongous. Humperdink is going to unleash him one of these days.

Update on Season’s Beatings and Wrestlecade

Before the show really got started, Jim Ross announced that at Clash of Champions:  Season’s Beatings  there would be a $50,000 Battle Royal where the winner will also get an WCW World Title Match at Wrestlecade on December 7th.  This really seemed to excite Sting and Lex Luger as they put Flair on notice that one of them was going to win the Battle Royal and then go into 1989 as the new WCW Champion.  Flair, Anderson, Spivey and Women also loved the idea of the Battle Royal because now they knew to focus on Sting and Luger during “Season’s Beatings” and make sure neither one of them got the opportunity for the title shot.

Wrestler’s Getting a Push

Ron Simmons continues to show great ability in the ring as he defeated Larry Cheatum with the powerslam.  Simmons, as humble as could be, gave a message to all the kids to stay in school and make the most of every opportunity.

Don Muraco gets his second straight win on TV as he easily defeats Allen Tab with the Hawaiian Hammer.  Another interesting post-match interview with Roddy Piper has you wondering if they are friends or foe?

Lord Humongous continuous to destroy everything in his path with a 30 second win with the powerbomb on Keith Steiborn.  Piper tried to provoke a response from Humongous but her got nowhere as the man behind the hockey mask never even acknowledged him.  Oliver Humperdink warned Piper and all of WCW that Lord Humongous can’t be stopped.

The Love Triangle?

Jimmy Valiant gets the win over Jerry Walker with the elbow drop.  Valiant seemed in a great mood and who could blame him.  He has kissed Terri Powers each of the last two weeks.  While Rip Rogers is upset, everyone understands the crush the Boogie Woogie Man has on Terri!  As soon as the match ended, The Boogie Woogie Man was dancing around the ring and playing with the fans as Rip Rogers tried to attack from behind.  It was like Valiant knew he was coming as he turned just in time.  He blocked the punch from Rogers and nailed him with a big roundhouse of his own.  As Rogers went down, Valiant danced his way to the ring as he was asking “where’s my honey baby?  Come on out Terri!  Come on out!

Bounty Gate

The Samoan Swat Team get a big win on TV over the Young Guns (Sam Houston & Kendall Windham) but it was Gary Hart who made this segment really interesting.  We find out from Hart that due to his relationship with Saddam Hussein of Iraq, the United States government has frozen the assets of Sheik Adnan Al Kassie.  When asked by Roddy Piper about what this means for WCW, Hart explained that there is no way for Sheik to pay off the 2-million-dollar bounty he placed on the wrestling careers of the WCW Tag Team Champions, Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death.  Hart went on to explain that since the bounty can’t be collected, he has released Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto from his stable.  Hart continued by explaining that the Samoan Swat Team can still make him wealthy beyond his wildest dreams by taking the tag team titles from Dibiase and Williams.  Later in the show, Dr. Death and Dibiase didn’t seem to care that the bounty against them was null and void as they never felt threatened by Hart’s men.  They went on to say that they still would have no problem paying off anyone who got rid of Gary Hart.  So it seems that their bounty on Hart is still in effect.

Terry Funk Responds To “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes

Do you realize what the final conflict is?  That’s when it all goes… when there are no people left….  When somebody pushes that red button and blows everything up.  Well, that red button has been pushed between Dusty Rhodes and myself.  It was pushed several years ago when he tried to blind me and damaged my eye!  He pushed that red button first but everyone forgets that. He pushed that red button again when he cheated me out of the NWA World Title in the Bayfront Center in 1979.  I let both of those incidents go.   Years back, he pushed that red button again in St. Petersburg in the Bayfront Center when he double crossed me and turned on me against the Briscos for the World Tag Team Title!  Again… I let all these things go.  I did not forget them, but I let them go.  Then he pushed that red button one more time when he attacked my family… my cousin… Jimmy Jack Funk.  This time, I could no longer let it go.  Funny thing is… history has a way of repeating itself…. As it was once again in the Bayfront Center…. But now, it was my turn to push that red button and my… did it feel good.  To take that branding iron to the side of the head of that Egg-Suckin Doooggg….  Now, we hear that Dusty Rhodes wants to push that red button one last time against my entire family!  I hear his friends running to his aid…. Well Dusty Rhodes… if you think you need friends for The Final Push…. Go for it.  I have friends too!  Your choice Rhodes…. Singles Match… Tag Team Match… Cage Match…. I don’t care!  This time it will be the final push of that Red Button and Dusty Rhodes WILL BE NO MORE!

The Goals of Stan Hansen & Dick Murdoch

“Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch and Stan Hansen defeated the Nightmares in violent fashion with the end coming when Murdoch connected with the brainbuster on Nightmare #1.  After the bout, Hansen seemed very focused on getting some championship belts around the waists of the Texas Outlaws.  Murdoch also reminded everyone that not everyone from Texas was like Terry Funk and that if the American Dream needed any help, all he had to do was ask.

THE WCW TV TITLE

The WCW TV Title match saw Eddie Gilbert, with the help of Missy Hyatt defeat “The Z-Man” Tom Zenk in their rematch from Fall Brawl with the Hot Shot.  At the conclusion of the match, Hacksaw Butch Reed comes out and jumps up on the apron and points at Gilbert.  Gilbert and Hyatt both look like they have seen a ghost!

WHAM----  from behind, The Snowman and Kareem Muhammed attack Hacksaw Butch Reed.  While Snowman and Muhammed easily have things under control, Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt don’t even think about joining in.  Instead, they head for the hills as the Nation is beating their own member from pillar to post.  As Hacksaw has blood trickling down his face, the crowd explodes as Ron Simmons rushes the ring.  Simmons quickly tosses Muhammed to the mat and then focuses on the Snowman.     Muhammed recovers and closes in on Simmions….. Wham!  Hacksaw Butch Reed is back up and hits Muhammed with a football tackle!  Muhammed and Snowman escape to safety as Simmons and Reed dare them to come back in the ring!  Snowman and Muhammed head to the locker room as the babyface turn of Reed seems to be in full swing.  His days with the Nation have come to an abrupt end as he and Simmons shake hands!

THE WCW U.S. TAG TEAM TITLE

The main event this week was a rematch for the U.S. Tag Team Title between the champions, The Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero & Ricky Santana)and the Rock n Roll Express.  The match was very similar to the match at Fall Brawl where the Express started quickly and then Ricky Morton got caught with some dirty tactics by Guerrero and Santana.  Eventually, we get the hot tag to Gibson and the Express are on fire!  This is when Dr. Diobolico, again jumped up on the apron.  This time he clobbered Ricky Morton resulting in the DQ of the Latin Connection, but they could care less as they retained their title.  Santana and Dr. Diobolico grab Gibson.  Mando reaches into his trunks and pulls and the Guerrero Hair removal Cream.  The announcers are screaming while Mando is maniacally grinning.  He reaches in and pulls out a huge wad of the cream!  He closes in on Gibson….

AHHHHHHH….. Gibson is screaming and rolling around on the ground in agony as it seems that Mando got the cream in both eyes!

Sting, Luger, Dr. Death and Dibiase rush to the ring.  The Latin Connection quickly scamper away but everyone’s attention is on Robert Gibson.  They are screaming for a doctor and trying to pour water into his eyes.  They make a decision to rush him from the arena as they place a towel over his head and basically drag him from the arena.

50 grand and a title shot should attract the best around for the battle royal at Season's Beatings.

Muraco and Humongous continue their rolls.

No offense to him but I think the only place Jimmy has a shot with Terri is in his head.

I feel bad for the Shiek, it must suck to have your money frozen for something your friend did. The Samoans hunting the tag titles should be fun to watch though.

Absolute fire by the Funker.

The Texas Outlaws are not to be overlooked.

The union of Simmons and Reed could spell Doom for the Nation.

Mando certainly hit his target with the cream this time.

High stakes in the big Seasons beatings battle royal.

I think there's something there with Piper and Muraco.

LOL, Boogie Woogie Man is having the time of his life.

I cracked up at Willams and Dibiase's response to the bounty and that they couldn't care less. However, Hart better watch his back.

Damn, Terry Funk is the master of selling tickets with a promo. Great stuff!

The champs better be on high alert if the Outlaws want gold.

Well, Reed's out of the Nation, but he's gained a powerful ally with Simmons.

Mando is causing a lot of problems and pain for others with his cream.

Nothing like a great Clash to keep the stories going. I will echo a lot of what other people have said... there's a lot of really good stuff going on here. I know one of your biggest dawbacks was not watching a lot of wrestling around this time but what makes it great is that we all pine for the old school way of wrestling and you're doing it with some big stars and very intriguing storylines. Think, rewind the game 4 years, the Sting and Luger duo plus Funk vs Dusty would have sold out a territory.... then you add in Piper and his stuff... now we've got Spivey/Horsemen... plus the tag titles and then we've got Butch Reed... this is an all star lineup from top to bottom. I appreciate the work you're doing here!

EPISODE #15

NOVEMBER 11, 1988

Sorry for the short form.  It might be this way for a while

Update on Season’s Beatings and Wrestlecade

Last week we were informed by Jim Herd that the main event at Clash of Champion’s:  Season’s Beatings on December 7 in Baton Rouge, would be a $50,000 Battle Royal where the winner would receive a WCW World Title Shot at Wrestlecade: True Grit on December 26th at the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio.

This week we start to see those cards develop as we add two matches to Season’s Beatings.  First, “The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant will face “The Hustler” Rip Rogers.  After Valiant stole two kisses from Terri Powers in recent weeks, Rogers was so angry that he allowed Valiant to pick any stipulation that he wanted just to make sure Valiant signed the contract.  Valiant didn’t hesitate as he said that if he wins the match, he gets a Date With Terri.  Also, as a result of the injury to Robert Gibson, the Rock n Roll Express will not be getting any WCW U.S. tag title shots in the near future.  Jim Herd was really angry at the Latin Connection for their attack on Gibson last week with the Hair Removal Cream. When both Mando Guerrero and Ricky Santana came off as very unsympathetic and seemed pleased with their actions against the Rock n Roll Express, Jim Herd, angrily, told the Latin Connection that they would have a title match at Season’s Beatings and that that it would be against The Lightening Express. (Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner)

As for Wrestlecade, we find out that it will be “Dangerous” Dan Spivey facing off against Lex Luger for the United States title.  Ric Flair tried to act disappointed but this meant that even if Lex Luger won the Battle Royal at Season’s Beatings, he would not get the WCW World Title shot.  Flair said that he really wanted to put that muscle-bound meat head in his place.  Jim Herd, for the third time in two weeks, came back out on the set and said that if Luger won the Battle Royal, he would indeed get the WCW title shot at Wrestlecade and they would come up with a contingency plan for the U.S. title match.  The Horsemen, well Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, quickly changed their tunes and complained about Luger getting special treatment while you could almost see the lightbulb go off in Spivey’s head.  He now seemed to have figured away to avoid Luger at Season’s Beatings.  Women seemed to catch Spivey’s reaction out of the corner of her eye.

Wrestler’s Getting a Push

This week saw a new tag team on the scene in WCW as the Dirty White Boys from Bucksnort, TN had their first match and let’s just say that they bullied their way to an easy win over Allen Tab and Keith Steiborn!  In their post-match interview Piper made sure to let everyone know that there seemed to be some stench around the interview area as he held his nose as soon as the Dirty White Boys arrived.  The DWB’s ignored Piper and let everyone know that they were there for two reasons… first to take out the Lightening Express and then to win gold!

Don Muraco gets his third straight win on TV as he easily defeats Jon Graves with the Hawaiian Hammer.  Piper and Muraco continue to banter back and forth but it is hard to tell if they are arguing like best friends or sworn enemies.

Lord Humongous continued to destroy everything in his path with another 30 second win with the powerbomb on Ferd Steckel.  This week Piper left Humongous alone but quickly turned his insults on  Oliver Humperdink.  First, he wondered if Humperdink had anything on his mind for a change, but he quickly cut him off when he started to speak.  Piper asks Humperdink if he is lonely because the only person he seems to be around is a man wearing a hockey mask who doesn’t speak.  Humperdink quickly says that he is never lonely.  Piper says that is a good thing as he is often lonely… but that is only because it is lonely at the top and that he understands why Humperdink is not lonely as he is clearly at the bottom!

Ron Simmons just continues to rack up the wins as he gets another over Jason Walker.  When asked by Piper if he is a member of the American Red Cross, he seemed confused.  Piper went on to explain that he always seems to be the one rushing in to help someone as he recently came to the aid of Dusty Rhodes against Jimmy Jack Funk and Black Bart and then last week, he saved Butch Reed from the Nation.  Simmons just said that he was raised to do what is right.  Piper said that he has been in this business a long time and is grateful to his parents for raising him to do what is right for himself and that Simmons better watch his back.

The Lightening Express!  Since the arrival of the Rock n Roll Express, Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner were pushed to the number two babyface team in pursuit of the U.S tag titles.  With the injury to Robert Gibson, The Lightening Express are back as the top team in pursuit of the Latin Connection as they will be looking for revenge for their good friend Robert Gibson at Season’s Beatings.

Sting and Lex Luger!  Both got easy singles wins on television this week and their post-match interviews, they continued to focus on the Horsemen.  Luger is really pleased at his match for the U.S. title at Wrestlecade against Spivey but did mention that he wouldn’t mind “trading up” to a WCW World Title match against Flair if he won the Battle Royal at Season’s Beating’s.  Sting also wants to win the battle royal but screamed how excited he was as it looks like the beginning of the end of the Horseman!  Spivey won’t be the U.S. champion after Season’s Beatings and just maybe, Ric Flair will be profiling and limo riding without those 10 pounds of gold around his waist.

Is Bounty Gate Over?

While the angle of who was going to collect which bounty between the WCW World tag team champions (Dibiase & Dr. Death) and Gary Hart seems to be over, the two still seem focused on one another.  Hart is demanding a world tag team title match for his Samoan Savages as he claims they are the most devastating tag team in wrestling.  It would be hard to deny that claim.  Even though they have only been in WCW a short time, they have left everyone who has dared to get in their way a crippled mess and that incudes Dibiase and Dr. Death.  Dibiase and Dr. Death make a fair claim that they were attacked from behind but still they seemed no match for the Savages.  There still has not been an official announcement if these two teams will meet at either of the two big December events but it is obvious that both teams want a piece of the other.

The Goals of Stan Hansen & Dick Murdoch

“Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch and Stan Hansen had another convincing win as they easily defeated Moondong Moretti and Big Money Marcus.  It was interesting once again as they seem to be somewhat divided on their goals.  Stan Hansen wants a title shot as Dibiase and Dr. Death while Murdoch wants to make sure his old pal, Dusty Rhodes, has all the support he needs in his current situation with Terry Funk.

Hacksaw Butch Reed vs The Nation (Snowman & Kareem Muhammed)

It seems that both sides have had enough of each other.  After Snowman won his singles bout this week against Jimmy Del Ray, he was joined at the podium by Kareem Muhammed.  After Roddy was done wondering if he should great them or just put a fist in the air, Snowman and Muhammed once again focused on how Butch Reed has lost his way.  They were upset on his pursuit of Eddie Gilbert and the WCW TV title instead of the cause.  Roddy got a real dirty look when he asked if the cause was running out to the local clothing store and buying up all the back gloves in the store, but Snowman ignored it and went right back saying the cause is not bowing down to the authority and not being a puppet to the likes of Jim Herd and the rest of those in power.  Muhammed finished up by saying that being a part of the Nation was a lifelong commintement and that it was now the Nation’s job to put an end to Hacksaw Reed’s time in WCW.

After Hacksaw’s win this week against Larry Cheatum, he went on a rampage about how Snowman and Muhammed were just jealous that he was the one getting title considerations while they were riding his coattails.  Reed even went so far as to take the gimmick off of Muhammed.

Hacksaw Butch Reed:  Ya’ll know why Muhammed started all this Nation nonsense to begin with.  It’s for attention.  It’s an attempt to stay relevant.  He was a nobody.  He was on his way out of the sport.  He couldn’t get it done.  Kareem Muhammed is …. Ray Candy!  That’s right… the overweight, washed up wanna-be.  Ray Candy… the man that looks like he ate all the candy… and he is going to run me out of wrestling?  Come on!

Dusty Rhodes-Terry Funk

As Terry Funk came out to give another promo with Roddy Piper, he was attacked by Dusty Rhodes before he could even get in his first insult.  It is rare to see a babyface use such a heel tactic as Pearl Harboring someone but that showsim how personal this feud is.  After a few minutes of Dream slamming Funk’s head off of any thing he could find, including his Bionic Elbow, the ring post and the podium, Funk was a bloody mess.  As the show was running out of time and Tony Schiavone was signing off, Terry Funk could be heard with a maniacal laugh like he was enjoying this.
