Lukeless Posted August 21 Report Posted August 21 Cash Wheeler is such a great bumper. Besides FTR's excellence at the legitimate match and performance aspects of tag team wrestling I love to see how Cash will pirouette when he's getting thrown out of the ring and how he'll try to kill himself once or twice every match. I started typing this before the match was over and seeing the finish I feel vindicated lol
Stiva Posted August 22 Report Posted August 22 It’s ROH so I’m not even sure how many people are watching but they need to get the Trios belts off Dustin and the Von Erich immediately and give me El Sky Team vs Adam Priest and The Workhorsemen
El-P Posted August 22 Author Report Posted August 22 Not a fan of making the tag title match a three-way. If it's that's a way for Hurt Syndicate to drop the belts without having to eat a pin, that's all you need to know about them. (EDIT : wait so apparently I missed the fact it's a three-way elimination match, therefore whoever loses has to eat a pin. Ok then) Not a fan of every stipulations in the world added to MJF vs Hangman, but I guess this is a way to make the audience doubt about what should be a foregone conclusion (Hangman is not losing the belt just after that win at All In, that would be really dumb and would kill the momentum of the company). Still, all this feels over-convoluted to me, which has been an issue with the MJF character before. I don't really care about the Christian & Cope angle, but I like the fact Christian remains the same old asshole and doesn't just switch to babyface, a role that never fit him well and less than ever now. Luchasaurus coming back is "oh, ok" to me. It makes the dynamics between him and Christian kinda screwed up in a way since the slow burn was him turning babyface on Christian, so I dunno how you do that now. And the match has even less business on a PPV now. I honestly can't wait until this whole thing is done after Toronto. I don't care about an angle based on WWF nostalgia from 24 years ago. The Ospreay promo was great, the three matches were quite good (FTR the Brodido was actually better than that, but the ending made no sense to me, how in the hell you have a tournament final end with a time-limited match ?), and Danielson showing up was cool, but honestly one of the weakest Dynamite they have done in a long time, with a crowd that was kinda flat (or poorly mic-ed). Hopefully Forbidden Door will wipe the so-so feels I got from this episode (and let's be real, it most probably will, look at those matches on paper). Can't wait for the 2300 Arena residency after that too.

This whole trio thingy was ridiculous anyway since the Von Erich were not even there for months and months. It would make no sense to keep the trios & tag titles on Dustin's team while he's gone considering others had to vacate for way less (I won't even mention the dumb "interim" stuff which I thought was a thing of the past). Get those things on Blake Christian & Lee Johnson anyway. Glad Adam Priest is getting some sort of ROH push, yeah. Also, just sign Janai Kai and give her a sweet ROH push as a starter. She was one of the rare talent that was interesting in MLW these last few years.
sek69 Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 AEW's upcoming 2300 residency always makes me think about how TK said he went to ECW shows with his dad. Shad in the bingo hall with the mutants watching like Sandman and Sabu type shit is endlessly funny to me.
sek69 Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 I have to admit Max Caster "Best Wrestler Alive" has gone from stupid to brilliant for me. Say what you will about it, he got that over with the force of sheer will.
sek69 Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 Jesus Christ, somehow Billy Gunn looks even bigger than before.
sek69 Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 To the shock of no one, Takeshita-Ishii was Really Fucking Good. That angry garden gnome looking sumbitch going out there beating the shit out of people is never not awesome.
El-P Posted August 24 Author Report Posted August 24 "Nobody does puppets anymore !" Harley Cameron Yeah, Ishii just having a major G1 match in Glasgow with the G1 winner was something. And overall Collision was just sooo much better than Dynamite this week, just a great fun show from start to finish. This humiliated Young Bucks stuff is just brillant. Totally hyped for Forbidden Door and the England shows are perfect for me to watch live... except I still want to watch those two RevPro shows beforehand, so I guess that's delay anyway for me again.
Dav'oh Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 I'll just chill here until someone starts a thread. I have a fifty-one year-old scrotum, and it looks twenty years younger than Edge's face.
Blehschmidt Posted Thursday at 12:26 AM Report Posted Thursday at 12:26 AM I might be in the minority here, but I think I am going to hate these 2300 shows. This crowd is trying way too hard to be an ECW crowd, and it's just obnoxious. Those crowds were a product of their time and all of the loud swearing and non-stop chanting in the world isn't going to make you what they were. Furthermore, the place just looks way too clean and sanitized. It's a total disconnect. It doesn't even resemble what they so desperately want it to be. It's going to be a long two weeks.
sek69 Posted Thursday at 04:04 AM Report Posted Thursday at 04:04 AM Noticed there was still no MVP when the Hurt Business came out to brawl with Ricochet and the GOA.
El-P Posted Thursday at 09:41 AM Author Report Posted Thursday at 09:41 AM There have been countless shows at the 2300 over the years. Of course it doesn't look like it did in 1995. It never could. But it is the "closest" I've seen, all things considered, while maintaining the production values expected from AEW and the fact that, well, it's basically not the same place anymore. And of course the audience would kinda cosplay the attitude like it's Rocky Horror Picture show (and honestly I don't think there would be that much difference from a good Philly crowd anyway in term of chants, it's not like all of a sudden they busted out a "She's a crack whore !" at Marina Shafir or something). I mean, it kinda is the point too, really. (the funny thing is that even during ECW days and peaks, you could see crowds outside of the Arena on house shows footage, you know the ones, absolutely imitating what was happening in at ECW Arena, sometime in very obnoxious fashion, so it's actually kinda on point in a bizarre meta way) And really now, there already has been a reference to Kimona dancing atop the ECW Arena. Of all the niche references you could make, this one cracked me up pretty good because OF COURSE. (as far as HS not being gone yet, hopefully they are just putting GOA over once and that's it) Anywoo. Really good episode. Didn't waste any time to build toward All Out, which was needed as it's coming really soon.
Blehschmidt Posted Thursday at 01:21 PM Report Posted Thursday at 01:21 PM MVP interfered in the Opps/GOA and Ricochet trios match. So unfortunately, much like The Death Riders, it would appear that Hurt Syndicate isn't done yet.
El-P Posted Thursday at 05:14 PM Author Report Posted Thursday at 05:14 PM It's funny, I could not put my fingers on it while I was watching, but after the fact I realized that this show actually made me think of something else, moreso than ECW. And that's WCW. Ya know, the Disney Nitros during the early nWo days. And that's one of my all time favorite wrestling TV ever. I always preferred small, intimate places anyway, but this hit me after the fact. And now, all I can think about is, please Coach TK, have a Club La Vella-like residency during Spring Break. With the ring on a pool. And the sea not that far so we can get fuckery on the beach. Yeah. That's right.
El-P Posted Thursday at 06:23 PM Author Report Posted Thursday at 06:23 PM This is cool as shit : "This is not the first time I got worked in this building !" 😂
Tetsujin Posted Thursday at 07:07 PM Report Posted Thursday at 07:07 PM Mox/Garcia was awesome classic pro wrestling for everybody. Hope they do something with Dani and the Death Riders because they are acts that could complement each other perfectly. The FCA was terrific. One of the best Claudio performances in recent months, as this hasn't been his best year in terms of neither input nor output. Darby is obviously insane at his role and I can't wait for what he's about to do with Mox. Basically every segment and match of the show worked perfectly. E&C vs FTR should have been for the titles, but whatever, it still will be a great match. Every time Megan Bayne and Kris Statlander collide gives me joy. Mercedes' segment was good, but she needed some new challenger crushing her celebration and putting her through that table with all the belts. I guess they didn't do It because for whatever reason Windsor wasn't there and they don't wanna move from her yet (but they should, because sadly she's a charisma vacuum and not as good in the ring). I can see Wardlow being the next challenger for Hangman, and while that doesn't seem the most exciting program ever (specially considering the gigantic momentum Hangman is having atm), having Omega around could give it some life with some crazy tags and all star multitags in these next weeks, and it's not like Wardlow is gonna be more than a one month feud. Hurt Syndicate I believe has run its course, these last few weeks of the tag titles messiness has been a little bit embarrassing and they need to either compromise to put someone over when the time calls it (because they're a great act and I would love to keep them together, since I would hate a Lashley main event singles run), or leave (honestly Shelton could stay with MVP, but Lashley complicates things). If Athena didn't beat Toni, who will? Maybe a Death Rider Statlander?
Stiva Posted Friday at 12:03 PM Report Posted Friday at 12:03 PM I had a feeling that they were beefing up the DCF to give Hangman some heels to run through so I’m glad that could be on the horizon. Hangman/Takeshita is a big match that I don’t think they’ve done yet?
C.S. Posted yesterday at 02:20 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:20 AM ROH PPV is streaming FREE right now. Yes, this is the legit ROH page and feed.
sek69 Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM Report Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM There were technical issues messing up the stream apparently so TK said fuck it and put it on Youtube.
Stiva Posted yesterday at 06:14 AM Report Posted yesterday at 06:14 AM Sure, we’ll team Sammy Guevara and RUSH together. It’s a good idea as any for a heel team, I suppose. And if Bandido keeps throwing out these insanely good title matches, he’ll be in the World or Unified title picture soon, surely
El-P Posted 20 hours ago Author Report Posted 20 hours ago Just put ROH on Youtube and make it a paywall like IMPACT used to do. And Death before Dishonor was an awesome show. Between the mat clinic that was Moriarty vs Xelhua, the fun QT Marshall vs PWH garbage match, Sammy having the best time of his life being a douchebag again (the interactions with the crowd, who loved Rush, were just great), the entire undercard being really solid to very good (loving Deonna being featured after that lengthy talk about her issues by TK, hopefully that will be a fresh new start maybe as Pure division champ, this would be perfect for her; loving STP finally winning some gold) and of course that insane epic Bandido vs Hechicero match. And the most amazing thing to me about this whole thing, is Athena and Mina having to follow this stuff and went "Yep, we can follow it". And did they follow it (a much better match that the Toni Storm match at Forbidden Door too). I pre-shot the Blue Meanie cameo as soon as Billie showed up with that blue MIT shirt. Yeah, Meanie danced with Mina, of course. Intimate settings > big arenas. Always.
Stiva Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago Collision has a “Taz Hardcore Hall of Fame Induction” segment booked and man, I’m sure it’s going to be played straight and respectful but it’d be wild if Hook turned heel by choking his dad out
